As I opined in the earlier threads on the subject..

If this girl had any sense at all, she would willingly pull out of this shi....but I suspect she doesn't have sense.

Maybe when they give you some major stress and trauma to deal with, you'll have sense.

If a beautiful girl called Nthamelo with obvious SA roots can't be Miss Nigeria, you Chidimma Adeshina have no business being Miss SA.

Simple.

They accused him of racial bias that certain jobs are meant for black people. But forget that in the previous century, employers in the northern part of the country had to employ blacks from the south when there was a labour shortage. As the next biggest racial group, African Americans need to have their economic interests protected first before other immigrant groups, especially black Africans. I cannot believe I am rooting for them as a black African.

It exists in both parties, which is why one should choose the lesser evil which protects their economic rights. If the continuous outpour of migrants from South America into the US continues, the black population in the US will dwindle. In fact, there are projected studies by Pew Research which show that without an increment from Africa, the population of African Americans in the US will go below 10%. As it reduces, the white man wins. Both parties are not interested in admitting more Africans so the narrative that one likes black people over the other is falsified. In fact, obtaining a visa from the US embassy in Nigeria has gotten harder than under Trump. The US policy towards Africa remains unchanged - extraction of minerals and blocking China from trading with them.

That lady was rude.
Omo, me I can believe I'm rooting for them o...

Like Paul Mooney once said, who dem for root for if no be dem? After slaving for over 400 years pushing through adversity, and literally building the country with their hands, blood and sweat, I'm supposed to not give them preference over Tunde from Nigeria or Juan from Mexico wey wan come chop food wey don done wey dem no follow cook.

Same way I don't support xenophobia, but I can understand the anger of SA towards other Africans notably Nigeria. They (South Africans) didn't run anywhere, they stayed and fought for their country, died in swathes for it. Food come done, peace come come, Chinedu wan come enjoy the calm and goodies of the country, or some other African, that didn't partake in the sacrifice...Nija own go come still dey loud, boastful and proud join. Una come say make pushback no dey. How na. One naija geh with prominent Igbo and Yoruba name wan be Miss SA! Imagine! Like say one geh with SA roots and a name like Nthamelo can come and be Miss Nigeria.

The histories and struggles of these guys dey significant gan..i understand it and recognize it..Sadly most of them don't even know it, properly use it or channel it for their growth or benefit. I won't lie, it is also important to note that the system may not particularly be skewed in their favour sha. Las las, all I wanna say is that they don't really care about us🎵🎶
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Treadway:

The issue is that Western politicians are largely incompetent in solving their people's problems. In 2009 when the global economic crisis was ravaging the world, the Japanese government paid immigrant workers in automobile factories a one-off payment to return to their countries so that it frees up space for unemployed Japanese. Prior to 2011, it was very easy for a non-Southeast Asian to domicile in Singapore, and obtain PR and citizenship. The economy got tougher and jobs were scarce for the majority Chinese population as Indians from Mainland India accepted low salaries. They voted against the PAP in the 2011 elections. The party reversed almost all of its favourable immigration policies and tightened everywhere. The tightening continues while the government focuses on the top 1% of would-be immigrants. The lesson to be learned is: protect the natives from being overwhelmed by immigration from their livelihoods, or else they will react.

In the US, this is happening as migrants from mostly South America jostle for jobs that ordinarily would go to African Americans, but AAs being a die-hard Democratic voting bloc would not vote for the GOP. In Canada, natives complain about how their teenage children cannot find holiday jobs because immigrants from South Asia compete head-on with them and accept lower wages
. Today, Canadians have turned their back towards unfettered immigration. The so-called liberal parties and their supporters don't understand human nature. I understand why most first-generation immigrants support such policies, but for continuous residence with peace of mind, the natives' economic concerns have to be protected because should they revolt, there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Presently, the immigration issue in the UK is multifaceted. One, the country has an ageing population who require social care which is burning the government finances. As a result, the government invites foreigners to fill up that gap. Two, the education system relies on foreign students to SURVIVE when it is not supposed to be so. Universities that cannot sustain themselves should be allowed to go into bankruptcy. Three, yes, the birth rate is abysmally low, but because the UK lacks a manufacturing base, many natives who cannot compete for elite jobs are deprived of economic opportunities which young and any-pounds-available immigrants can accept.

In my books, a country with a population of 10 million plus needs to have a manufacturing base to provide good jobs to citizens who cannot compete for the elite jobs. Everyone cannot be a programmer or doctor. Some should be skilled technicians and live an okay life. Switzerland does this very well. Lastly, poor law enforcement. The Gods forbid, but the law authorities in the West are terribly incompetent to clamp down on criminals regardless of where they come from, their skin colour and who they worship. See the picture below. Even in Nigeria, natives of any area will be annoyed when this happens to their daughters. We won't call them tribalists, so it will be odd to describe those in Rotherham as racists. Such nonsense cannot happen in China or Singapore without the authorities dealing brutally with the preparatory, but Ndi lovey-dovey liberal parties are scared of enforcing the law. Tomorrow, they are surprised when they vote for the Reform Party and the GOP. I have never seen a group of people who are so detached from the basic understanding of human beings.
on point as usual 💯

On the bolded, Trump still echoed same easily observable FACT in the video in the previous page, but as na Trump talk am, esp as him talk am his Trump way🤣, most no just wan hear.

As for the black community wey wan stick to Dems...well they have the right to stick to whomever. The fact and reality tho is that even with Dems white supremacy will always be a constant. Like Candace Owens has said in one of her vids (will look for the vid link and attach it), and I agree with, even the white supremacy doesn't rank high on the things plaguing black America. The family unit is a mess, mostly in black America. Single parents household, poverty, black on black violence, gangs, drugs, not given to education etc....all of this are the main issues, and hanging on to Dems have not solved their real problems one bit. A black president for 8 years didn't make them better or stronger as a community. They can keep up with their solidarity with the Dems, but I just can't see what that solidarity has done for black America till this day August 5, 2024. Na dem know sha🤷

This was from back when Trump was presido, and as usual Candace cooked! White supremacy is everywhere in the west, but we like deceiving ourselves na the problem, that and Africa is cursed. So, na catch-22 sointin. Republican o, democrat o, UK o, US o, for the black community na same difference 😎

The summary is I am much better where I am now than when I was in Nigeria.

You couldn't even say congratulation to someone who worked only for 4 months and was able to save about 10,000AUD which he converted to Naira and got about 11million and invested it in empty plot.

To tell you the truth, with my 1.057m monthly net in Nigeria, I cannot afford this even in 2 and half years.
congrats. I truly am happy for you..why shouldn't I be?

No where in my post in this thread or in my post in the earlier thread did I bash your decision to emigrate. E no just be my business to do so.

Why should he save 50 million when inflation and devaluation eat up the money? Why do you think it is not possible to save that amount as a bank manager? I think most of you people under-rate certain professions and the earnings they make. Yes, there is corruption, but people do earn quite a lot in certain industries in Nigeria and legitimately as well. I believe the major problem is the dearth of accurate information regarding salaries in corporate Nigeria. Most importantly, the mama-put woman is an entrepreneur, not an employee. Apples to oranges, not apples to apples.

That said, the mama-put woman has done well for herself. But if she migrates to Australia to pack sheet, she can never live a decent life compared to while in Nigeria. Again, no sheet packer in Australia lives a decent above a bank manager in Nigeria. If you disagree, maybe you should define what the phrase "decent life" means as a sheet packer.

If anyone wants to pack sheet, that is okay. But correlating that to living a decent life in Australia above a bank manager in Nigeria is abominable.
Gerrard leave usefulsense abeg. Someone with cognitive dissonance can't be reasoned with. As always, na that conversion to naira be the main thrill.....and yet on the earlier thread he said life is not about the money, but na the money he dey use as justification now onto say he buy land of 11m, like say all the small small island boys with good jobs wey dey buy the 20-30million cars on Nairaland auto section are from outer space. 11m that won't even buy Lexus RX350 2006 Toks in Nigeria today, but surprisingly some people still dey buy, e dey shock even me sef... na im bros say top manager in Tier one bank no fit spend 11m from one year savings.

Usefulsense do visit Nairaland auto section and see the prices of cars there (due to the same worthless naira that now make you feel like homelessness for Aussie sef better, and horrendously high custom duties on top), and yet there are those that are still doing well despite the Cray Cray in Nigeria and buying those cars. Look up 'Madison spices' and 'Aristo bar and bistro' in Akure. Both are owned by a friend that we did our MBA together. Dude is just 40. He is doing way better than even me. Achieving things like that are what I find inspiring...not some dude who is screaming at the top of his lungs every 3 market days about running to another country being his sole life achievement. I can only imagine how good my said friend feels when he wakes up every morning. He won't leave what he has built to go and pack shit.

We are talking of the stuff you are made of, not your environment. You have described what you are made of, not everyone is like that fortunately/unfortunately. You can't take credit for the environment, you didn't create it.

No matter how hard the wind blows, a mountain will not bow to it. Lions know their place, a gazelle knows it's place. Environment or not, a gazelle cannot live like a lion, and vice versa.

Adiós!

PS: Isn't it interesting that even he and the Aussie crew found it odd that a Financial controller was packing boxes..I wonder why that was concerning...they for just leave you to dey pack the boxes na afterall that should be enough na....that and of course clear skies, picturesque landscapes and access to education and healthcare.💯

North already has the highest poverty rate in Nigeria.

Buhari put petrol subsidy which is the engine of the nation. Naira was not floated under Buhari.
These two factors provided succour to everyone, as cost of transportation, production kept things manageable under Buhari.

Tinubu came into power and decided to pull down these two pillars that have been keeping the country afloat. He increased petrol price from 165 naira to 850 naira. He devalued naira.

These actions by Tinubu have increased more hardship on northerners.
false

The maalu Buhari equally followed the path that the current dunce of a president has now equally towed.

Buhari removed subsidy immediately he came in. He also floated the naira a year after in 2016. When the unsavoury effects kicked in he and his foolish team decided to backtrack and resume defending the naira and paying subsidy to keep the petrol costs at 145.

Remove subsidy but keep the naira stable and strong is what a sensible person that syphilis hasn't eaten off his brain would have done, till at least two refineries come on stream to free uo our FX budgeted for fuel importation which currently gulps 40% of the country's forex.

thanks for posting this.

You see, this is why it is good to post full content and not just run with headlines. I encourage everybody to watch that video and contribute to this topic with your thoughts (without prejudice, if you can).

I watched all 35 mins and here are my unfazed and unfiltered thoughts.

1. Thumbs up to Trump for showing his great mental health/state and fortitude. Man spoke for 35mins without notes or a teleprompter and answered question after question in what appeared initially to be a hostile environment, and yet didn't flinch or stutter...👏. More props to him for adequately shutting lady in blue down, that was a horrible ambush-style introduction to an interview you invited a person to...He shut her down with finesse..and segued effortlessly to lady in pink. Trump has lived most of his life in front of a camera, she should have known better. I also like how he was salty to her alone, from start to finish. Gave her back her energy💯. Also like how he pointed the mic issues early on, which lady in pink corroborated

2. He answered well on cause of inflation and reducing inflation.

3. I don't like the choice of the word 'black jobs' he used, esp since he was in the midst of blacks, but if we stick to the crux of the subject and not the 'term' he used, he was telling the truth. Illegal immigrants are taking all the low to middle class jobs for cheaper pay, thus edging out the blacks who typically occupy said jobs. It is what it is. The educated and qualified ones including even black from Nigeria can get the juicy roles, but the reality is majority of blacks aren't educated or qualified enough to fill the juicy roles.

4. I like the joke about Kamala being Indian until it was time to be vice president and then became more black. What can I say, I have a sense of humour.

5. I don't like the comment about Kamala not passing her bar exam. That was totally unnecessary and tacky.

6. I like how he stylishly did not allow himself to be put on the hot seat for JD Vance's views. Let JDvance speak for himself.

7. I like how he espoused JD Vance's positive and notable qualities and accomplishments that made him pick him as running mate.

8. I don't like how he didn't answer the question on police immunity in cases like the Sonia shooting where evil cops kill innocent people. He dodged that one, albeit very unconvincingly. I hope he reflects on that and sees that he can't make an absolute decision to give popo immunity esp considering rampant circumstances like that where evil popo really do kill innocent people.

9. i like his stand on border control, always have.

10. On Roe V Wade, I like how he said the people are deciding by voting what should be what. That is commonsense. Let the people, decide by vote if they wanna just be better at preventing pregnancies than aborting pregnancies. I like how he clarified for those who don't know, that the exceptions for rape, threat to mother's life still are in force despite ROE v Wade.

11. On the Jan capitol rioters, i don't like how he says they did no wrong, although I understand what he is driving at. Nonetheless, two wrongs don't make a right. He is saying though, know that others have done worse and still did worse as recent as 5 days ago, but no outrage at all unlike the outrage for the Jan rioters, simply cos he isn't involved. Yes we see the hypocrisy he is trying to point out, but it was foolhardy of him to justify the illegality on record like that. Wrong is wrong, doesn't matter if the other side is a hypocritical one, you shouldn't be the one to justify an obviously illegal act just cos the other side is just as guilty. He allowed his emotion get the better of him here.

All in all, dude was super sound for the most part and held his own, even did very well taking control of that environment. I don't understand why you feel he crashed 🤷

D naira flotation is the problem we're facing, not even d subsidy removal, it's just like our economy depends on dollar, same as d refined fuel.

Treadway I'm disappointed that you actually can't see through grandstar that's he's an agbadorian on stealth mode. He's one of those who have dropped Buhari like hot potato and is now tactically supporting the present gamer. Just go through his posts and be illuminated.
But I digress. Let me first go to the politics side. I see salamrushdie is still blaming Obi for PDP's loss in 2023. I have said this and no one can dispute it. With or without Obi, PDP would have lost 2023 as long as they had that G5 division in their ranks. What happened in 2023 is simply a rehash of the events leading up to 2015. It is convenient to blame Obi because he's just one man and it's easy to point a finger at one than many and of course, because he ended up losing. If Obi had defected to APC like nPDP did in 2014, no one will blame him for PDP's loss. But it's simply the same events in a different format. Wike is to Atiku in 2023 as Amaechi was to GEJ in 2015. Wike is now the superminister who everyone points to as the shinning light in a drab administration just as Amaechi was the shinning light as transport minister under Buhari. Both have used Rivers' resources to further their personal agenda and ego by laying with strange bedfellows. One has received his comeuppance, the other is being put on ice till 2031 when he will consider himself the best bet for VP but be told he does not have the temperament for such position. Bookmark this.
PDP's G5 weakened the party and made it impossible to launch a serious assault on the APC and its woeful performance. Instead, they spent most of their time answering questions on Wike and who should be the chairman of the party. Kwankwaso stole 1m votes from Atiku in Kano but no one has blamed him. Only those who are on the inside of the party are aware of how much damage Wike did and is still doing to the internal cohesion of the party. No army can go to a war with division in its rank and expect to win. If PDP cannot find a way to kick out Wike before 2027, +/- Obi, they will still lose. You can see how Wike is doing Obaseki in Edo presently. That's the same spoiler game he's planning to play in 2027. He's targeting 2031. If the other folks in PDP are ready to allow him use their heads to break his coconut, na their cup of kunu be dat. But he will still be used and dumped like all the other nPDP were. None of them is still standing strong in APC today. Ndume the last one is being told to go home already.
The twin demons in APC are Buhari and Tinubu which brings me to the duplicity of the comment I read from our beloved stealth agbadorian divorcing APC from the disaster called buhari in one hit of the hammer! Who does that? That's like separating the shell from the tortoise. Buhari is APC and APC is Buhari. Just as Tinubu is APC and APC is Tinubu. There's no more vivid testimony to the possibility of the existence of the trinity than this phenomenon. They are bound together by a common hate for PDP and creed to ensure those who inhabit the three letters never taste power again. Every other thing is secondary and i always wonder why those who are in the PDP seem so oblivious of that hateful glue. Which brings me to the economy.
The most shocking event I've ever witnessed in my existence is the willingness of the average Nigerian to be a participant in his economic immolation by joining the chorus of fuel subsidy must go. Now, I've always been an advocate of subsidy retention and I'm sad events have proven me right. If you wake the average Nigerian up before last year and ask him what he thinks about fuel subsidy, he will open his mouth wide and parrot fuel subsidy is bad and must go even though he has no clue what is being implied by that request. I actually took my time to research and study the whole subsidy thing and I found out that all major economies in the world with large scale industrialisation have a subsidy or the other at its base. The UK at the height of its economic prowess, which was during the colonial times was running a highly subsidised economy. The moment colonialism ended, UK economy shrunk in size and influence to what it is today. The US, China, Russia, India and such other economies that rule the world have billions of dollars in subsidy. But maybe we really can't afford subsidy. Is that even true? How can a nation with vast oil reserves and four refineries never mind their status claim to be unable to afford subsidy for the same fuel?!! Subsidy has existed since the 70s in Nigeria and it never ran our refineries aground. Saudi Arabia has subsidy on its fuel and it runs the same model we used to run in the 70s. So how come suddenly subsidy is bad in our case? Well, good or bad, we can all see the result now.
As for the APC and the economy, we have to realise that each successive government since 1999 has always looked to repudiate whatever the predecessor was doing before they came into office without sparing a second thought on the rationale behind it. It happened with Yar'Adua after OBJ and so it occurred with Tinubu after Buhari. I see it as politics interfering in economic matters. The new guy in a bid to look different and energise his base goes the extreme left from whatever he met in ground. The gullible base then have something to defend while they are the worse for it. It shows mostly that our leaders have no independent ideas or thoughts they hope to implement when they come into office. All they see when outside the office is faults and not solutions. So when they come in, they begin playing to the gallery with populist ideas. APC is the worst. They simply merry-go-round the economy with no target or deliverables while hiding under infrastructure. Tinubu is doing exact same thing Buhari did in his early days. Their supporters are singing exact same song of "mess" they sang 9 years ago. Tinubu is mouthing FDI as the reason for his travels just like Buhari did. Tinubu is ordering for more farming just like Buhari did. So who in his right mind will say both are different?!! Tinubu, Buhari, APC are one and the same. Same mallam, same kettle.
I rest my case.
you finish work for here o.😁

This is a weak equivalency or comparison. Also in the US, your dollar will go further in 2013 vs 2024, meaning you can buy more stuff with the same money back then than now. Minimum wage has hardly gone up.
False.

Stick to the Nigeria/naira you know..you mustn't comment on the US or the preservable value of the USD (which you don't know), even so over a period of many years.

The dollar will buy just about the same things it could buy today even in 2003. It has remained a sure store of value for many years.

Price of a 2004 car in Year 2004, a 2014 car in Year 2014, and a price of a 2024 car in Year 2024 car hovers around same amount thru those decades/generations.

Price of a gallon of milk has not swung wildly in over 30 years

Obi was never "prime opportunity".
You don't "rewrite" history with same story, when Nigerians are serious, we will all back someone who will rewrite history not a whitewashed saint.

I don't really give a damn about Obi. Yea I supported him, but what was key was that we had a chance to show the powers that be that NO! We have the power! But majority decided we should continue as is.

Rather than send a strong message at the polls, after Buhari nearly kee everybody we still moved on like nothing happened and voted ApC to continue...beeni! na so dem go rate you.

Lol

Everybody will use their tongue to count their teeth no lele.

Even if monkey party won, it would have been a success, we would have passed a strong message. Awon arindin kan wa se se fe protest nisin.
