Dr Okhue Iboi is the spokesperson of the White Witches and Wizards, Association of Nigeria (WITZAN) and one of the notable trado-medical practitioners in the country. In this interview, Iboi, who has come to anchor his faith in God, reveals that his lure to herbal practice was dictated more by overriding factors and zeal to assist humanity. According to him, his belief in the efficacy of herbs and roots was a result of the events surrounding his birth. He also speaks on the 2023 elections. Excerpts:.

How are orthodox medicine, herbal practice and Ifa divination contributing to our healthcare delivery?

Orthodox means what you do that you standardized in your country. Our Orthodox here is what they standardized in other people’s countries. Like the UK, France and USA. We consider our herbs and roots as alternatives because we are trying to subjugate what belongs to us. In Tanzania, orthodox doctors and herbal practitioners work together. Before anything can manifest in your body physically, that thing must have been completed in the spiritual realm. Ifa will warn you about it in advance and you will put stop to it. That is why western medicine always bows to our medicine. For instance, if a woman is having difficulty having a child, you will do Ifa consultation and Ifa will tell you that the elders of the night (witches & wizards) are responsible. The first step you will take is to remove their hands from it. It is after this that the symptoms will now show before you use a physiological remedy for it. Without this, you will not be able to get a solution to the problem.

Aside from White Witches, are there any other witches’ groups/associations?

When we talk about ‘white witches’ we are not talking about white men or white women, but we are talking about a division of witches. There are white witches, black witches and red witches. White witches defend their families; they bring progress and development to them. The black witches attack people, if you beg them, they will leave you, but red witches attack people even if you beg them, they will never listen.

Can you tell us what transpired in your last meeting held in, Abuja and all the 36 states of Nigeria?

On the issue of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo contesting for the presidency which was published in Vanguard newspaper on March 13, 2022, we warned him to quit politics and face his pastoral job, so that he could accomplish the message God sent him to do, otherwise, he would be disgraced in the primary because that is not his area of calling. We advised him to bow out honourably when the ovation was high, what later happened in the APC primary election can better be imagined, he finished in the third position.

Do you know who will be the next President of Nigeria?

I cannot tell you who the next President of Nigeria would be because we are still screening all the presidential aspirants to know the one God has chosen to be the next president. The reason why we are careful to select the best candidate for the job is that we want leaders who would hold the sanctity of lives. We do not want a president who would watch his citizen going hungry and dying without being able to salvage the situation.

We want a president who would listen to the voice of his people and a president who would move the country forward, and stop fraudulent practices and poverty. In 2019, I predicted that Atiku Abubaker would win the presidency but he would be edged out and that he was going to come back to re-contest in 2023. What actually happened was that the Association of White Witches and Wizards held meeting in all the 36 states of Nigeria but when we got to Yola, Adamawa State, all of us supported Atiku Abubakar to be the next President of Nigeria. We found that there is an obstacle on his way to the presidential seat and that obstacle needs to be cleaned first before he can become President. We resolved to send a message to Abubakar’s wife to that effect. This message needs to be delivered to Atiku’s wife before her husband starts the campaign so that the road can be smooth for him to walk because this is the last chance for him to contest the country’s presidency. If he comes to us, we would be able to show him the way to avoid the big obstacle on his way to the seat of power.

What is your advice for Nigerian politicians?

My advice is for politicians that shed blood to achieve their aims and aspirations. Like the Bible says: “Those who kill by the sword must surely die by the sword”. Politicians whose hands are stained with innocent blood would lose someone dear to them at the peak of their glory, and their beloved ones would be full of sorrow, unhappiness and regrets.

My question for the ardent, cursing, bullying Peter Obi supporters is whether they would have still supported him if he had been a preferred candidate by the PDP.

Since his supporters claim PDP is rotten and APC is terrible while all of a sudden its almost like Peter Obi fell down from heaven and was never part of the political system.

Why attack those who are still supporting PDP, a party your candidate barely stepped down from when he saw the handwriting on the wall, that it was impossible to win the primaries? Or attacking the supporters of APC because they chose to pitch their tent with a candidate you dislike and feel is responsible for Nigeria woes.

Can we put emotions aside and practise what we preach? Peter Obi is one man only, and you honestly think if he wins the presidency he can change much with a national assembly dominated by other parties?

If there is one thing Peter Obi's candidacy needs, it is stretching out a hand of fellowship to as many rival parties as possible. Peace.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Friday, published the particulars of candidates for the 2023 general elections.

The publication has been followed by animated discussions among Nigerians on social media on the academic credentials of some of the presidential candidates

In the front burner of the discussions are questions around why the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, provided no information on his primary and secondary education.

Stating his occupation as “POLITICIAN,” the 70 years old APC National Leader claimed he obtained a B.Sc degree in Business and Administration from Chicago State University on June 22, 1979 before participating in the compulsory national youth service from November 12, 1982.

Although not seen by PREMIUM TIMES among Mr Tinubu’s published particulars at the INEC office, he swore to an affidavit that his certificates are missing.

“I went on self-exile from October 1994 to October 1998. When I returned I discovered that all my property, including all the documents relating to my qualifications and my certificates in respect of paragraph three above, were looted by unknown persons.

“My house was a target of series of searches by various security agents from the time the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was forced to adjourn following the military takeover of government of 17th November 1993,” the two-term former governor of Lagos State claimed in the court affidavit.

Some Nigerians want to know more about Mr Tinubu’s past than what he revealed to INEC.

Similar concerns were raised over his background when he contested for governor in 1999 and 2003. The late human rights lawyer, Gani Fawehinmi filed a suit asking the courts to compel the police to prosecute Mr Tinubu for perjury and forgery after a petition accused him of those offences in his filings with INEC in 1999.

After the Supreme Court dismissed the suit on the ground that Mr Tinubu had immunity as governor against being prosecuted in court, the Lagos State House of Assembly investigated the matter and absolved Mr Tinubu of the charge of gross misconduct.

Mr Tinubu is considered by many political commentators as the candidate to beat in the 2023 presidential race, the reason for the intense public attention on his candidature.

The former Lagos governor’s spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, did not respond to calls to his phone lines at the time of filing this report when this reporter tried to seek further clarifications on the issue.

Bandits have killed 11 security pperatives including Policemen and senior Military personnel in an attack on Ajata-Aboki of Gurmana Ward of Shiroro local government area of Niger State.

Sources told LEADERSHIP that they were killed around a mining site in the area that has large deposits of gold and gemstone on Wednesday afternoon.

The Co-convener, Concerned Shiroro Youths Of Niger State, Sani Abubakar Yusuf Kokki, confirmed the attack on the community, calling for more actions to curb the wave of renewed attacks by terrorists.

Meanwhile, the Niger State government has also confirmed the development, saying two Chinese nationals, among others, were kidnapped.

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Emmanuel Umar, a joint security team engaged the terrorists, “and there were yet to be determined number of casualties from both sides.”

A yet-to-be-ascertained number of workers in the mining site including two Chinese nationals were reportedly abducted.

Security forces mobilised reinforcement for the manhunt of the remaining terrorists as some of them were neutralized and rescue of the injured victims including security personnel that sustained various degrees of injuries have been taken to a government medical facility in the state for treatment.

“While the Niger State Government commiserates with the heads of security agencies in the state and the families of the slain personnel, the state government assures that their sacrifices will not go in vain.

The state government acknowledged all the efforts of the joint security operatives and that of the communities in the State towards taming the spate of insecurity in some parts of the state, hence, security personnel are enjoined not to be discouraged in discharging their sacred duties of protecting citizens against all forms of threats as government will continue to be steadfast in providing them with the needed support in all ramifications.

“His Excellency, Abubakar Sani Bello, the Governor of Niger State, has therefore directed that the security agencies should go all out to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped victims and make sure that none of the terrorists escape,” the government said.
