Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior, who shunned Saturday’s governorship election has dropped a cryptic note after the loss of Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
Aregbesola, who is the only Osun indigene among President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministers, had stayed away from the election because of what his aides described as an “official engagement”.
Although the APC won at his Ward 8, unit 1, Isare Ifofin, Ilesa East Local Government Area voting point, some political pundits have listed Oyetola’s friction with Aregbesola as one of the reasons for his loss.
Oyetola and Aregbesola fell apart shortly after the incumbent governor succeeded the minister at the end of his two terms as governor.
Oyetola had reversed some of his policies and moved to create his own political structure, thereby reducing the influence of his predecessor.
Their rift reached its height when Aregbesola fell out with his estranged benefactor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is a relation of Oyetola.
Amid the misunderstanding with Tinubu, Aregbesola attempted block the reelection ticket of Oyetola.
A couple of minutes after the Independent National electoral Commission (INEC) declared the winner of the governorship election, the minister took to his verified Facebook page to post a message hinting that he was in support of the outcome of the exercise.
A devout Muslim, Aregbesola quoted Daniel 4:17 from the bible, “This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.”
Responding, he wrote, “Osun Le Tente”, which could be loosely interpreted as “Osun is victorious”.
Teerach: This thing y'all are saying is true. I'm from Bayelsa. Was asking my mom. She says nobody is talking about PDP in that state anymore. Says only APC and LP. I weak.
No fewer than 30 aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress have instituted cases against the party in the North-West zone, Saturday PUNCH reports.
The cases, which were instituted in various courts, were as result of the conducts of the various primary elections by the party held in the zone.
The National Legal Adviser of the APC, Ahmed El-Marzuq, stated this at a press conference shortly after the maiden meeting of the ‘Legal Field Operations Committee’ in Kaduna.
He said the committee was to address legal matters by aggrieved members arising from the conducts of the various primary elections during the state Assemblies, governorship, House of Representatives, Senate and presidential elections.
According to the Legal Adviser, the meeting was part of the party’s efforts to placate aggrieved members so as to strategise ahead of the 2023 general elections.
He explained further that the maiden meeting availed the committee the opportunity of the number of cases in courts against the party, adding that “so far, we recorded 30 cases in the North-West zone.”
Some of the cases, he said, were even from opposition parties, allaying fears that the cases won’t affect the fortunes of the party in the forthcoming general election.

JEWELofHELL: * Says Buhari not involved in Shettima's selection as Tinubu's running mate..
“We have it in our files that Tinubu went to the president to ask him about who to pick but the president was very reluctant to contribute and Tinubu noticed this before walking away,” the official added.
Does Tinubu cares as long as he becomes President even if Nigeria burn! You can hear the rubbish Shetima has been saying, first he called a sitting Vice President Ice cream and pop corn seller, now today he said Obi can only be a President of Igbo land! The red flags are here, but sentiment will blind many from seeing what Tinubu and Shettima will bring Nigeria!
The General Overseer of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, William Kumuyi has said politicians should always consider the desires of Nigerians when making decisions.
Kumuyi made the remark while noting that the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu took a slippery road in picking Borno Senator, Kashim Shettima as his running mate.
Tinubu came under intense criticism by Nigerians after he settled for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Nigerians had wanted Tinubu to pick a Christian to balance his presidential ticket, but he opted for a Northern Muslim.
However, Kumuyi said politicians should be aware that they did not elect themselves into office when making their decision.
He spoke after paying a visit to the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, yesterday.
Addressing journalists, the clergyman said: “The Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christan ticket is a difficult and slippery area.
“The APC presidential flagbearer Bola Tinubu and his party took that slippery way to make Borno Sen and ex-Gov Kashiim Shettima his running mate.
“What I will say is that the political office holders should look at the heartbeat of the country, as well as desires of the people.
“Politicians should know that they are not there for themselves. They are there for all of us. They should ask and make their research about what the nation wants.
“They should ask and make their research on what the country wants, what the people want; if they listen to the people, we will be confident that they will listen to us when they get there.”
Eniitankorede: Muslims have died more from terrorists. And those terrorists started during a Christian regime of Obasanjo and Jonathan. You have no point in that.
Eniitankorede: I saw a picture of Rashida Ajibade of the super falcons where he exposed the undershirt where Thank you Jesus is written. That makes me to start thinking: the whole of the super falcons team is Christian in make up. Not a single Muslim is complaining about that. I also cheered them as they win forgetting their religion etc.
What’s more instructive to me in that team is that, not a single player or coach or any member of the team is a Muslim. They are all chosen based on their ability. The Muslims are not complaining. Why Is CAN destroying the peace in NIGERIA? I hope the Christian leaders can call them to order. Otherwise they will destroy the country as they continue with their political activism.
What I mean is, they are the ones heating up the polity and causing further divisions in NIGERIA. The Muslims are not as intransigent as the CAN is. Their insensitivity is destroying peaceful coexistence in NIGERIA. That football team has all Christian crew. Nobody is raising eyebrow. Why can’t they be tolerant and allow the best hands to rule NIGERIA?. Not only Muslims will benefit from good governance in NIGERIA. All NIGERIANS will benefit from good governance.
If you family has died from fundamentalists you will not write this nonsense! Faith is perspective!
