CrimeRe: Police Extort ₦50,000 From A Medical Doctor In Delta Over 'Controlled Drugs' by Tripitaka: 9:55pm On Aug 28, 2022
FreeStuffsNG:
Unfortunately, like most Nigerian youths who comment online, most of you and other comments above are ignorant.

Controlled substances are not and should never be in the hands of medical doctors and non-Pharmacists to carry around. He is wrong and the police were right and should have prosecuted him but they went about it the wrong way.

Only licensed Pharmacists can be in stock of controlled substances in significant quantities because they are licensed by law , trained on how to handle them and have a poison register they keep that regulators monitor periodically for the well being of the public health . Just to dispose expired controlled substances alone must go through regulatory process and if not, those expired controlled substances will go back into circulation if you allow folks like him non-expert handling of controlled substances.

It is only an ignorant healthcare professional who does not know that a medical doctor's license does not cover his movement of controlled substances around. This is because he is not a drug expert, he does not know how best to store them and can be used as a conduit for moving fake controlled substances into the medicine distribution chain.

This is a lesson to non-Pharmacists not to be ignorant. The Nigerian police officers are not ignorant as you think o wink
You unfortunately failed at your attempt at being "clever".

First, the guy never said he was carrying "controlled drugs", he said they tagged his medications as such with the intent of extorting him.

Secondly, even if they were controlled drugs. He wasnt just carrying; he clearly wrote he was "on" them. We both do not know the quantity, so you cant pass judgment based on conjectures.

You made your post out to mean that only pharmacists should be in possession of such drugs as if pharmacists have the exclusivity of Consumption of such drugs too.

HealthRe: NGOs And Fake Data Generation In Nigeria By Temisan Okomi by Tripitaka:
Theres something fundamentally wrong with Nigerians and Africans. Every occasion is an avenue to perpetuate criminality without minding the consequences. Greed and avarice is the order of the day.

The level at which data is meddled with is also the reason no one takes official Nigerian government data seriously, example Census. Most atimes, people just sit in their offices and project figures which they publish as data.

He is a sociable person, but he is not socially intelligent? Lol, as in, he be garri, but he no be Eba?
Actually, one can be sociable and also not socially intelligent. Both terms are mutually exclusive and only thing they have in common is the word "social".

Being sociable relates to ones ability to mingle and interact easily with others and the willingness to do so. Extroverts are mostly sociable people. A sociable person is friendly and likes to be around other people.

Social intelligence on the other hand relates to tact and ones inherent ability to navigate interpersonal relationships. Being socially intelligent means knowing when to speak and the right things to say, when to shut up, when to give a hug etc. One can be socially intelligent, but not sociable.

I read a story one time. The contents were very similar to what was going on with me and one woman back then.. I remember her writing "...have I invited the devil to my house? "
I called her immediately and straight up asked her for her NL moniker. Her response was " what's a Nairaland Moniker? ". I just told her not to worry.
If someone wrote about me or any incidence concerning me, I'm most certain to know. Unless key aspects of the story has been changed.

A case of "damned if you do, damned if you don't".

Whatever you do, do not bring out the pant again, seeing the controversy it has generated.

If you bring it out now, you will never be seen with same eyes again. Also, the girl will never wear that pant again as she will believe that you may have carried out some rituals on it.

Best line of action; maintain your silence for good.

Some years ago, I worked as an HCM Officer for a top range school in GRA, Benin.

The school owner was one of the most resourceful women I ever met. Even though we eventually fell out which ultimately led to my resignation.

She is from an Upper Class family, but you'd never know given how hands on she was. She was basically a Jack of all Trade and was well dipped in her craft. I've never admired a lady the way I did her.

I would have mentioned her name and name of school, but I'm afraid she may be on here.

The bolded ... would you be in support of Blacks not being allowed in hotels... restaurants ... sitting in the front seats of buses etc .... if so be the prerogative of the owner?

@ topic .... it.is wrong for the employer to not state a minimum height requirement if short people are not eligible for the job. It is an insult for the employer to later tell her she is too short. On preferring a taller woman to a shorter one is not automatic ..... all things being equal .... would you employ a tallll pro basketball like female to be a kindergarten teacher?.... or a short female? As a receptionist for Agency for Discrimination Against Dwarfs ... would you hire the tallll beautiful applicant?.... or the short equally beautiful one?
I agree and carefully noted in my OP that its unprofessional and unacceptable for a recruiter to tell an applicant that she is short. But he could also have reject2d the applicant for same reason without actually saying it.

For the scenario you painted, I wont employ a tall person for a Dwarfism project, but would that not also make me vile going by your logic? Recruiters reject applicants for a plethora of reasons, its just that applicants never get to know.

Nonsense, It depends on the job advert. E.g What does height or physical appearance got to the with you being a good programmer.

You need to go out more, there are many big organization having staff that are physically challenged and didn't have any issues with them.
You could make make your points without being derisory. And I wonder what you mean by "you should go out more".

That said, you really think any organisation will hire a disabled person over a person without disability all things being equal? 99 times out of hundred, they wont, the other 1 time is when pity comes into play.

Mind you, organizations specifically hire people with disability just to improve their diversity ratio, dont be deceived.

I maintain that very few hirers will hire a below average looking person over an attractive person "all things being equal". It isnt comforting, but that's the truth.

Gentlerespect76:
The recruiter did not err in not employing her, because the business is his. However, in mentioning that she was not hired because she is a short lady is where the company crossed the redline. Unlike in the military where certain heights are a necessity, this requirement was not mentioned ab initio, thereby distraughting the young woman. God will give her a better job eventually.
Exactly my point too. Its unprofessional for the recruiter to voice such sentiment. But then it's his prerogative to employ using any yardstick he may want. Some wont even employ you if you have certain accents.
Jobs/VacanciesMy Take On The Applicant That Was Rejected For Being Short by Tripitaka(op): 10:39am On Mar 19, 2022
https://www.nairaland.com/7033680/rejected-job-because-too-short

Some days ago I read with amazement the takes of some persons on the attached thread.

So this lady was rejected by the recruiter for being "short". Perhaps the story is untrue just as many like it on Twitter, but I'm reacting on the premise that it's true (even though most likely greatly embellished).

Firstly, its crass and unprofessional for a recruiter to voice such words whether directly or indirectly, but sentiments is a huge part of decision making. Heck, most of y'all were never called back by the HR for the same reason as the complainant; only difference is that you weren't expressly told that you're short, fat, have terrible dentition, have bent legs or look too tacky and malnourished. Do you recall attending that interview where you believed you smashed it and impressed the recruiters, but never heard from them again? That could be it.

In certain businesses especially the hospitality sector, looks is a big deal. Have you seen airhosts? Have you see the attendants and receptionists at top range hotels? If all things are roughly equal among applicants, recruiter will tend to favor those who look more polished and are attractive.

The word “attractive” doesn’t just mean people want to have sex with them, it means people enjoy being around them more. It’s a reality, harsh as it may be. Businesses that appeal to the public work hard to make everything about the customer experience attractive….nice furniture and pretty pictures on the wall in a restaurant, attractive interiors, buildings or landscapes in the background of movies, and so on. It shouldn’t be surprising at all that they prefer attractive employees in customer facing positions.

This is natural.

Also, as a business owner, why will I employ a short first class receptionist when I can employ a tall first class receptionist? Wheres the wisdom? Beauty and intelligence are not mutually exclusive which means that one can have both. If as an HR, I have 100s of applicant for a single opening, does this not give me the privilege to pick "the best"?

Most of yall trying to be politically correct on the other thread certainly wont employ dwarfs in your organisation irrespective of qualifications. Image is super important especially in customer-facing positions and you're automatically a brand ambassador. Funnily enough, a lot of women only hang out with their beautiful friends while they call the average ones when they need relationship advise (I've had a couple of persons admit to this).

Some even ignorantly cursed out the country. Have you wondered why even some foreign orgs require you to attach a passport photograph or make a short video of yourself? That's right, they want to see what you look like. Even the military wont employ you if you're not up to a certain height or with a proper BMI.

That's why I always say that if you're goodlooking and well poised, then consider yourself as already having a fair headstart in life. Do not let anyone deceive you, beauty avails you a lot of privileges, but it's not just beauty.

It's high time people realise that these politicians don't care about you

They deceive and divide you based on religious and ethnic grounds, but they Unite at the top to milk the country dry

Now that there's fuel scarcity , you won't see specific fuel stations for APC or PDP supporters, neither would they give you fuel because you're a Christian or a Muslim .

Whether you vote good or bad leaders, na everybody go hear am
ASUU Strike all their children are abroad getting quality education , you that voted based on ethnoreligious ground is at home, no special school for you that's Christian, Muslim, APC or PDP supporter

Una must receive sense by Force
Very true.

Hunger, starvation and deprivation knows no gender, tribe or religion.

Worrying is the fact that some are already drumming up support for "same same" against next year.

We truly deserve our leaders.
FamilyWhat I Saw Last Night At A Fuel Station by Tripitaka(op):
Its popular knowledge that the country is currently facing an alleged artificial fuel scarcity. Worse so is the fact that you can't source for fuel even if you're fortunate to own a generator; match this with the scorching sun during the day and sweltering heat at night especially in the northern parts of the country.

Theres this gated NIPCO fuel station just a stone throw from my place that normally start sales around 7am and close around 6pm with the excuse being that fuel is finished but they will receive new supplies at midnight against the next day's sales.

As I was strolling out last night around 9pm, I noticed that there generator was powered. Quickly I ran home to get my fuel gallon hoping to buy fuel.

When i got back, i was refused entry and told that there was "no fuel". I saw that there were 3 Hilux trucks there each filled with yellow 25L gallons and a mobile policeman manning the gate. Everywhere was dark as the lights were turned off. Lo and behold, these guys were filling all those gallons with fuel and loading them on the hilux. Same people that closed gates to customers, saying they were out of supplies.

The gateman now told me in confidence that those trucks belongs to a rich man in the community. That what he does is, buy the fuel at 200 per liter, then give to people who will see for him at 350 per liter. Hence, he makes 100N profit on each liter while the Station manager makes 35N on each too. This is because, the same fuel would have been sold to the public at 165 instead, they sell it to this man at 200, while he resells at 350.

My question is why are Nigerians so wicked and heartless? We capitalize on every situation to rip our countrymen off. Yet we complain about the govt. Despite my pleas to fill my small gallon, they told me to go back and that theres no fuel. While I could clearly see gallons of fuel being filled and loaded.

FamilyWhat Do Women Think About In The Lead Up To Their Weddings. by Tripitaka(op): 8:30pm On Jan 09, 2022
So, I plan to propose to my partner of 2yrs before the end of the first quadrimester.

I must say she has been a blessing to me and ticks 90% of the boxes in terms of what an ideal partner is. Even though I haven't proposed to her, overtime she believes we will get married some day.

Now, in the lead up to this proposal certain thoughts have been running through my head and these include:

How will my first meeting with her parents be? What if the dad doesnt like me? Heard he is very strict.

● How much do I need to budget for a proper but modest ceremony? She is the jewel in her family and honestly deserve a proper ceremony, even though not expensive.

● How do I pop the question? Yes, it doesnt have to be exquisite, but I want to give her a memory.

● How many kids will we have and what if we dont get the genders we want amongst this number?

● What if she becomes a different person after the wedding? I can say that I know her to a high degree; but then she is another human.

● How will the logistics for the wedding be done considering I stay in the North Central, my family lives in the SE while hers live in the SS.

● Will she expect me to post her on my Whatsapp? This is considering that I haven't posted a picture there in 4yrs.

● Will I still be able to get my usual alone time?

● Will she always trust my judgement just as she does now?

● What if she is influenced by her mother? I'm aware that most mother-in-laws have a huge say in their daughter's marriage with the man being ignorant of this.

● Will she love my family?

● What if we have financial difficulties?

My question is this, do women have these same worries as men do before their marriage or do they just believe that everything will be fine?

Please this thread is for women to chip in the thoughts that occupied their minds the most in the lead up to their marriage.

No need replying if you're not a woman.
