Lol. They all lie about their age, whether African, Asian or European. Just very few of them are innocent of this. Come to my street and see 40yr old men playing almost every evening. Despite the rough tackles and bruises.

There are some though who I believe are honest with their age. What beats me is why a footballer will retire around 34 to 35 considering they have everything to enable them play into their 40s. Unless age is against them, you know one can't cheat nature.

Every weekend i watch the EPL, i keep pondering on this. Are European footballers really innocent of Age Fraud as the media will like us to believe? Is age fraud really just an African or South American thing?

I just read where Lampard was blaming fatigue for his players inability to perform in the defeat against Wolves and I couldn't help but wonder where the fatigue stemmed from exactly. They last played on Saturday against Everton which gives them 3 solid days to rest, yet these guys say they are fatigued? How?

Football is played for 90mins split into two halves of 45mins with a 15min break between halves. Yet, they talk about fatigue? Mind you, they do not run marathons on the pitch, for the most part, they jog around, sometimes walk, they only move at full speed when going on counters or trying to stop one. So how cant these guys perform optimally twice in a week?

For context, I have a cousin who is a football freak. At 33, he plays on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings every week. But never says he is too tired to play the next week. How then can a professional footballer who has access to world class training grounds, clinically designed pitches, personalized training routine, top psychologists, top nutritionists and dietitians, top sporting gears that have been designed to bring the best out of them tell me he is too tired too play, unless his biological clock is ticking.

The local street footballers even play everyday on tattered boots, terrible ground with zero protection. Most of them do menial jobs, eat carbohydrate laden foods 80% of the time, have no rest, yet can play for 2hrs everyday.

How can a footballer retire at 33 to 35 saying he can't play a 90mins game anymore for once a week? I really can't wrap my head around this. Personally, I believe most of them may not be as young as they will like us to believe.

Even within a grammatical sense, the comeback just doesn't follow as both cases are unrelated. You can't identify men with toxic masculinity as they are supposed to be victims of it. It is the society that upholds the concept to the detriment of the male gender.

What do I think will happen now? I think Gbaja will tell them to sit on his middle finger especially in the light of their latest demand. I mean, being a politician in a 3rd world country makes him untouchable anyway, so he'll wonder if the deceased's family are taking his "magnanimity" for weakness. You see, he could decide not to even acknowledge the death and nothing would happen. He could even lie that the vendor was trying to attack him and the "gallant" policeman "swung into action".

I do not know much concerning the position of the law on this. It's a little bit grey; is Gbaja responsible for the policeman, seeing that he isn't under his employ? Then there is the matter of Vicarious Liability which I'm not sure has a place in the Nigerian legal system; this points to Gbaja's "right, ability or duty to control" the activities of the policeman even as a third party. Honestly, I'd think they should be suing the DSS.

Be that as it may, 500m is a lot of money even though it's a negotiation tactics. No amount of money will resurrect the dead, but a certain amount of money can cushion the effect of his death. You can't blame the family for wanting a bulk sum as true to character of our politicians, all the talk of scholarship and stuff is just playing to the gallery. Trust me, by this time in 6 months, Gbaja will stop taking their calls.

On the other matter, Burna may be good. But I do not listen to his type of his music. So It will be unfair to have an opinion on him.

I’m in 2 minds. What I consider is that when people are killed due to negligence, error malpractice etc., You don’t hear families of the deceased petitioning for a pay out, but for an enquiry. The payout is done hush hush and somewhat automatically.

And when a civilian is murdered/shot, likewise, you hear the families seeking justice, not money.
Settlements are often done off record and out of public domain where possible.

Perhaps the issue is they shouldn’t even need to ask and have felt sidelined/belittled, or maybe even insulted by the original offer which is quite shameful on GBA’s side. He should know the appropriate measures to take.

On the other hand you wonder, is money the answer to grief? Does a recently bereaved person immediate take up a fight for money? Feels a bit uncouth.

It’s already public knowledge so what’s in it for GBA to pay? Not like they will sign any disclosure to prevent his image from tarnishing. And if it’s a case for the FGN, then payouts definitely ~~won’t~~ make a difference.

As for the difference in our behavior when in vs when out of the country, this is due to the lawlessness of Nigerian..

Humans generally behave like animals when there is no law and order.
Remove that from the so called develop countries and watch everything burn to ashes.

When you know there are no consequences for you action you can behave anyhow.

You're right, it may be a human thing. But I'd say that a typical Nigerian's double standards is mindboggling.
They preach on and on about a virtue, but they don't even give a single fvck about this said virtue. .

It is so disgusting.

As I read the oceans of admonishments flowing on the front page about the lady who mocked a young beggar girl, I couldn't help but marvel at the ocean of hypocrisy flowing with. Granted that the lady's action was untoward and outrightly disgraceful, we shouldn't forget that most of the critics are Nigerians who do worse everyday, only difference is that the cameras won't be rolling.

Why are Nigerians so hypocritical?

I read some people say please "God bless me so I can bless others". And I wonder how many people we've blessed with the resources we currently have. Same Nigerians that won't lend a hand unless their is the remotest benefit accruable to them, be it public adulation or materia and sexual gains.

You see Nigerians in foreign countries and they have near perfect etiquette, they join queues, say please, obey traffic rules, pay taxes and respect law enforcement officials but the moment they step foot at MMA, they go back to full animalistic regalia, littering the streets and behaving all shades of horrible.

You see Nigerians shouting Black Lives Matter and asking about likelihood of racism in countries they want to migrate to. While these same people are the most hateful, vile and tribalistic people you may have the misfortune of meeting with very hate inspiring monikers on nairaland.

They pour invectives on women who scold their children whilst they burn other people's kids under their care with electric iron. They give the best marital advises after which they go home to batter their wives.

A host of them come online to condemn premarital sex while they are closet paedophiles and rapists. You say you're destroying beer bottles and cartons, but you don't say a word on the scourge of child marriage, paedophilia and religious killings around you.

Quite disturbing.

Gosh, this is so heartbreaking and difficult to read. I certainly wouldn't want to be your brother now.

Most commenters here will take the emotional route, but I'll try and be rational. The problem now isn't that they rescinded the employment after all he wasn't unemployed, but that they made him lose a previous employment.

It is typical that when get new jobs, they resign from the old ones. But a distinction must be made, the new employer did not tell your brother to resign from his job, that was solely his decision. They presented an opportunity to him that triggered a decision-making on his part, he made the decision, albeit one that has backfired.

Most employment letters are also 'at Will', meaning that the employer has certain absolute prerogatives. In fact, the HR could have decided to issue a sack letter instead and it would still be in line.

I sympathise with your brother, but there isn't much that he can do.

BBN this year is a huge pile of shït though, especially in terms of their selection of housemates.

Compare this nonsense with last year's show and you'll be amazed with how weak this year's characters are. Last year we had worthy and strong characters like Oma, Frodd, the delectable Mercy, Ike, Seyi, Mike and Tacha with each of them having their own distinctive story and strength. Looking at the current Hosemates, you can't help but ask what is Layvon known for? Kiddwaya, Ozo, Iengi, Neo, Triky, Prince? What distinctive flavour do they exactly bring to the house? I can't fathom any.

Even with Frodd's poisonous romance with Esther, he had his highlights and was a fun person, Mercy and Ike had their own individual highlights, same with Tacha, Mike, Khafi, Seyi, Omashola, Diane and co, even Joe, Elo and Benita left a mark on the show, and all their individual highlights was somehow intertwined. Heck, there was even the ludo debacle. Now I ask, what will Neo, Tochi, Nengi, Dora, Prince, Triky, Kidd be remembered for?

Last year up until the end of the show, there was a debate on whether it would be Mike, Mercy, Tacha or Seyi winning the show, but half way through this edition, one would be a dunce to not know that Laycon has won the show even before it started.

You could tell that a host of these current housemates are camera conscious and most likely came to play the romance card, especially Nengi and Ozo in their irritating foolery, with Ozo failing woefully at playing the Frodd role. At least Frodd had the triangle with Esther, Elo, Venita and Omashola. Now that's content.

Either Ozo or Vee would have been the model winners, but we are where we are and Laycon will certainly win with a huge margin.
