Politics › Re: How Do We Measure The Performance Of State Governments? by trix1: 2:53pm On Apr 16, 2013 |
Demdem: The states are basically following the footsteps of the miserable FG. Once the head is rotten, the rest of the body is useless. The FG knows itself to be a rotten entity and that explains why she isnt courageous enough to tasks his security agents to beam searchlights on the accounts of the states. In view of the kind of democracy we are praticising, the head needs to be near perfection. If Aso rock can consume up to 1Billion naira of food in a financial year, its not out of place for each state houses to consume up to 500Million naira however if Aso rock consumes like say 100Million naira, woe betide the state that will consume above 50Million.
The FG leads and the states follows.
Though the states are important and essential i for one prefer to tackle the head, besides most of the states are controlled by the killer party who also control the rotten head. Of all the ridiculous things I've read on NL, this definitely takes the price. So its Ok for the states and LGA to under-perform as just because you feel the FG isn't performing?
I keep telling people that is is much easier to hold your counselor/ward chairman/LGA chairman accountable, than to be looking at far away Aso Rock.Lets join hands together and make Nigeria great! The change must begin from the bottom up! |

Okija_juju: Re-brand NYSC ..
Replace it with what Governor Oyakhilome of Rivers State did way back. the ever brilliant SCHOOL-TO-LAND programme.
The government can tweak it to involve other areas, but that programme was brilliant. NYSC members can serve in farming programmes all over the country. Build big industrial farms. Backed with proper funding and university research, hybrid seeds can be created, hybrid livestocks as well. Nigeria can become an exporting country. The corp members get to learn first hand the intricacies of farming. It can be divided into different branches such as Cassava farming, Plantain, poultry, pigry, e.t.c. Each corp member gets to pick 2 or three and spend a minimum of 3 - 4 months on each farm learning everything from farming to book-keeping to distribution and also storage.. In the end, the resultant agricultural revolution would be amazing. Even the NYSC could end up beimng a self sustaining body from the realization of sales of produce they get Nationwide. You never ever lack words to pour on this forum, some times they make lots of sense like this one, some times they are hilarious and of course other times they are just plains lies and contradictions. 5. MAmmy Market is your friend.. If you are an Ajebutter like me who is very particular about where and what I eat, you can do what I did. Find a Mammy Market stall you are comfortable with, make friends with the owner and have her prepare you whatever you want to eat. Just inform her in advance. I served in Obubra and had this one Mammy Market woman who really took care of me. I will just tell her that Tomorrow, I want X soup with Pounded Yam and Dog meat (just kidding about the Dog meat sha) and she would cook it, bring it and give me my bill which was alarmingly cheap (Max. 3'k).
5. Buy as many BYC white shirts and White Shorts as you can afford. I Bought 14 BYCs, 14 Shorts and 14 pairs of white socks. I advice this because of the following reasons;
13. ENDURANCE TREK!!: I personally enjoyed this part of camp. I completed mine. Even had to cross a river by canoe at some point. Now listen!! Your NYSC issued jungle boots are useless cheap piece of trash that is no good for nothing but the dust bin.. For your endurance trek, please find a pair of realy good quality trainers,( I bought a pair of military spec jungle boot from the U.K you can also find some in the market that is military spec and not Converses o!!) and wear. If you must use the NYSC issue, make sure its a comfortable fit. Otherwise, wear the thickest pair of socks you can find. Otherwise, you will be bleeding and injured all over your feet by the time you are done.

val_dubem: 1. Spend wisely: Buffet still dwells in that 5bedroom apartment he purchased 55years ago.
2. No one cares about your money as much as you do: Buffet makes all his own investment decisions for his best interest; not the commission-based interest of financial advisers, stock brokers etc
3. Do your home work- Scan thousands of stock: Buffet spends 18hours a day working on investment capital, saying investors should think of themselves as partial owners.
4. Over come your fear of risk: people are afraid that investing will cause them to loose money but Buffet says stocks outperform bonds, banks and even gold; and are safer too.
5. Focus on the long term: Putting off saving/investing means you'll need to save more in less time for the same outcome.
6. Invest in quality Business: The result of doing your homework is determining worthy companies. Buffet is famously invested in Coca cola, wells Fargo and IBM.
7. Hunt for exceptional bargains for solid companies: Buffet recommends buying stock during a crash. when even great companies have extremely low prices.
8. Make decisions to invest based on how well money is used by Company management: Buffet feels penny pinching indicates a profitable mindset. once, he acquired a company whose owner took the time to discover the toilet paper roll wasn't really the advertised 500 sheets.
9. Be patient; wait until everything is in your favor to interest: when conditions align, buy an appropriate amount of shares. Buffet recommends holding stocks in 10-15 companies.
10. Sell loosing stock when the market is up; Buy winning stock during a crash: Selling a dud stock at its worst adds to your loss, and purchasing a great stock at peak price cuts your gain. "the beauty of stocks is they do sell at silly prices sometimes. .....Thats how Charly [munger] and I got rich." warren says So He lives in the old house he bought 55yrs ago when he wasn't so rich and He still works at least 18hrs every day?? Why? dont buy the latest phone only if your current phone has all the features that you want! • Take just enough cash with you • Stop taking your ATM card everywhere. what do you do when there is an emergency? • Make more than you spend • Choose a frugal spouse. there's a thin line between being frugal and being a miser! • Cook at home. Many times, It is cheaper to eat out! besides eating out is necessary in relationship building • Learn to fix things yourself • Do not buy brand new car and buy a brand new car when? after retirement? when you are old? A good new car would save you all the hassles of Nigerian mechanics and is cheaper in the long run • Go to market not super-market If you do not know how to bargain, A supermarket would be cheaper than a market • Do a price check before you buy things • Do not buy brands or labels buy more of generic product. Only if the generic is the same quality as the branded one • Always occupy yourself with activities thereby preventing spending • If you must use paid TV go for the lower rate. Good quality doesn't ever come cheap! • Be optimal during Christmas

olu4life: Good day peeps,i'm presently confused and dont even know what to do about my PPA. I was posted to a private school last month [due to redeployment] in Ibadan. On resuming,i was told to teach Basic Science for JSS 1-3,which i am carrying out effectively. But last two weeks, the propietor sacked a teacher taking agricultural science and geography. Only for me to be given agric to tach frm jss 1 to ss 3,which i immediately rejected. This led to a face-off with the man. He insulted me in front of the students, calling me names and also insulting my father. I responded immediately not to even include my father in this. One week later,he called me saying he has assigned agric for ss to me,which i rejected. Last monday,he went into our quarters and seized my hot plate [cos he gave us accomodation] which up to date he hasnt stated why he seized it. I reportes him to the LGI,only for me to be shocked with LGI's response. He supported him and told me to just teach the students rubbish. I accepted in good faith anyways. Now, this morning,we wanted to collect clearance cos we are to sign PV starting from today. But he refused to give us saying its a lie. Also told we corpers staying in the lodge to pack out cos he's no longer giving us accomodation. Am so confused right now. The LGI has been bribed by this man,so angry at the moment. Please what measures can be taken This is a man who has just 6 teachers and 6 corpers for a whole secondary school. He is bent on dealing with me simply because i refused to take agric
#UPDATE Am jus been told not to be given bed again. Cos the bed have been using is from the creche. Will i sleep on the floor Am so loosing it right now There are too many things wrong with this post.
How can a school that has Js1 to SS3 have ONLY 6 teachers? How are these students supposed to write and pass WAEC? What right does the proprietor have to enter your room and take your property? (even if he gave you the accommodation?) you were sleeping on a bed from the creche? why?
I think you should ask to be redeployed somewhere else for the following reasons there is already bad blood between you and the proprietor. You certainly are not adding any value to yourself or the country by your stay in that private organisation your Ejection from the corpers lodge is a clear indication that this man doesn't want you again, and would go any length to frustrate you. . Your spellings and sentence composition leaves a lot to be desired, I do not think that you should be teaching students. |

bebrief: It's a bail hearing and not a sentence, that's an obvious typo.
1. It was dark and the lights went off, but he was able to search for his gun but couldn't locate his girlfriend lying on the same bed
2. He claimed to have called out and what response did he get? Then he fired not one, not two, not three shot and still got no response
3. What kind of strange noise could be coming from the bathroom except that of someone using the toilet or the shower? What other strange noices could he have heard How strange he was quick to remember that workers had earlier worked in his home but could not remember his girlfriend who was spending the nite with him on an early Valentine morning.
4. You should have heard that the prosecutors confirmed the witness to have been at a 300m distance (not 600). Whether they were 300 or 600m away, they could clearly hear some arguments from his home at that time of the nite. And who was he talking with? He clearly has no answers!
Regardless of whom he called first, this is a cold-blooded and heartless murder by some disabled and mentally unstable man! Probably he might have been on some drugs, maybe Testosterone found with him - if that affects him adversely.
We have to wait till June to hear what new explanations he has to give! Bros, Testosterone wasn't found with him oh. You said you watched the court proceeding na, is that what was said in court??... have you ever been in danger? Haven't you heard of people that were knocked down by cars and their first instinct if they can stand up is to run? does it make any sense for them to run away? When you perceive danger, you make several split second decisions, that may not make any sense in retrospect. Basic human instinct is to protect self first, before others, You have the benefit of handsight, so its easy to say what you could have or wouldn't have done. Does any of the evidence presented by the prosecution make his story seem false? I'm trying to look at the whole story objectively, what if he truly killed her by mistake? Do u know the kinda pain he'd be going through? I still wouldn't call him a cold blooded killer, untill I have more facts to prove it. Everyone seems to be condemning him, but what if he's innocent? One tragedy has already happened, but she's dead and there's little we can do to correct that. I'd rather wait to be convinced beyond reasonable doubt that he's guilty, than join others to condemn someone that maybe innocent. |

bebrief: Listen up friend! Weather the assumed intruder came in from the bathroom window or the main entrance, the questions are: 1. Where was his girlfriend whom he claims to love, and who was with him that nite during his shooting? 2. Does he claim not to have heard her voice after one shot? But he shot four times at a distance of 1.5m from the bathroom. 3. He was able to leave his bed and pick an unlicensed gun without his prosthesis, and yet did not notice his girlfriend was not on the bed? 4. A witness about 300m away during the shooting heard a loud argument, who was he talking with?
I watched the full sentence and Mr Pistorius's claims is simply unbelievable! Only a dumbass can take that, unless he claims insanity or some mental disorder. You watched the full sentence? He's be sentenced already? And here I was thinking it was only a bail hearing! 1) He said it was very dark and the lights where off, besides recall his outburst in the last paralympics when he came second? And his apology after he had cooled down? He seems like someone that acts before thinking. 2) He claims he called out before he fired the first shot.. There's no one to confirm or deny this. 3) He stood up to close the screen door before he heard noises coming from the bathroom, and he remembered that some workers had worked in his home earlier had left ladders outside (did the prosecution say there was no ladder found outside?) 4) The so called witness was about 600 yards (six football fields) away at the time. can you really rely on testimony from someone that was so far away? I still am undecided as to his guilt or innocence. So far the prosecution haven't really presented a case, and the onus is on them to prove that he is guilty. I expect them to ask questions like why he didn't call the police or ambulance immediately? When the guards called him, why did he say everything was 'all right'?? Why did he call the manager of the estate first?? These are questions that's should be answered. Every other issue can be explained away! |
