TravelRe: Working Class Beggers In Owerri Int'l Airport by trix1: 12:32pm On Oct 15, 2012
okooyinbo: Some Nigerians should be deprived the means of coming online. If you dont understand what the OP is trying to portray, why dont you ask? Or did he/she tell you he/she is an English man/woman? Very pathetic!

To the matter: It is quite unfortunate that a lot of Nigerians behave in such way. It is not the case of salary not being paid, but what we Yoruba people call "ojukokoro", "ainitelorun". Lack of contentment and ethical value is the bane of all this rubbish. How can you assume I am a rich man because I am flying. Very stupid and shameful mentality down there.
Are you saying that it is ok to abuse the English language just because you are not an English man? Please what is Nigeria’s official language of communication?
TravelRe: Working Class Beggers In Owerri Int'l Airport by trix1: 11:10am On Oct 15, 2012
Ishsoph: I was visibly nauseated at the prevalent attitude of the workers in Owerri airport yesterday when i arrive for my return trip to Abuja after attending a wedding at Aba over the weekend.

I first got to the airport junction(the airport actually viad off Owerri road). On getting there I was disappointed that there's no taxi service but was rather mobbed by army of motor cyclist popularly known as okada. Every tom and harry of them clamped my dear trolly with their fingers while i was at the begging bargain not to tear my bag.

To cut the long story short, I threatened to deal decisively with them should my bag get torn and ask all of them to let go of my bag which they reluctantly did. It was then i spotted one of them who seem to be peaceful cos he was just sitting on his bike and watched on as the drama is being played, and so i becconed on him to come take me to the airport. Immediately we took off, i ask him what his fare was and he said its one thousand naira then i said i was going to give him five hundred as the airport is less than 2000 meters from the junction and he didnt protest.

When we got to the airport i gave him 1000 naira to give me change he said he doesnt have any money as that happens to be the first job he was doing that morning and he commenced begging me to leave my balance for him, not without reminding me that he had behaved himself by not joining the fray that was dragging my bag at the junction.

This got me infuriated and i shouted at him and threatened involving the security (already a security man was getting curious over the long meeting and headed our way), then he reluctantly unzip his jacket and brought out a bundle of money and gave me my balance.

After that came the ones i call 'airport agberos' on some kinda yellow jackets who came to help me push my trolly but i calmly declined, then he asked what i have for him for the weekend. i ignored him. after collecting my boarding pass i proceeded to the cue for scanning and was again beset with another worker/begger whose job is to punture a hole in the stamp on the boarding pass. Then came the supposed respectfully dressed gentle men and ladies who does the scanning with their loud greetings and request for 'anything for the weekend for us?' with their eyes boring hole in you.

Mehnn! I got disgusted when the one searching me did so while their standard line flows from his mouth 'sir anything for us?' as his palms peruse my sides. I was already seated in the waiting room as we expect our flight when i felt pressed and decided to use the restroom. On getting there another begger was waiting while she added to their standard line that she is an ORDINARY cleaner. I could only come up with what da heck!

My fellow nairalanders, pls what do u make of this trend especially that of Owerri airport cos this was my first time of using there. I have noticed such in Enugu and lagos too (not sure i have experienced that in Abuja here but cant vouch for them) but it turn out to be a child's play compared to Owerri.
Please re-read what you typed and stop embarrassing yourself. It’s okay to have a few typos.. But the grammatical summersaults here leave a lot to be desired!

Is it me and SEUN that will share Nairaland money. I have nothing to gain. So get your facts right. What did those boys do to you that you hate them so much.
What benefit would SEUN get from the traffic that is driven to that link you posted? SEUN has already gotten more than enough traffic since the news broke on friday!! there are already too many threads (some are out right lies) on the front page about this incident.

I have silently watched in disgust while people have taken to social forums to spew crap! When the news broke, these boys were called robbers, latter the story changed to cultist, now some now say they are even innocent. I would not Join any camp to pronounce them guilty or innocent.

But I know that this would NEVER have happened when I was a student on campus! No student would have stood by to watch their fellow student beaten this much!!

If they were guilty, infact Even if they were caught red-handed, we would never have allowed the local community do this to one of us! The Spirit of Aluta was still alive! Injury to one was Injury to all.
We would rather take the students into campus and deal with them in our own way. How many parents would allow their child to be punished by someone else? Shame on all the students who stood and watched this happened

Now even if they were cultist as some claim, then I say shame on the cult they belonged to. Four days after the murder of 4 of their own, they have done NOTHING!! When I was in campus, their fellow cultist would have either attempted to rescue them, or avenged their blood by now!

If they were Innocent, I say again Shame on all Uniport Students who stood by taking pictures and videos!! The pictures and videos they took did not even clearly show the killer’s faces!!! If you couldn’t rescue your fellow student, at least call police, your CSO or take videos and photos that can be used to catch the killers

Most of us have watched the gruesome video and are angered or irritated, so it beats my imagination to know that their fellow students stood by taking fotos and videos while this happened, and were neither angered or irritated, and made no effort to rescue them. Now they have flooded cyber space with pictures and all sort of write-ups, most of these serve no other purpose but to drive traffic to blogs, and websites!!

Where is NANS? Where is Uniport SUG? Where is Rivers state student Association executive?
Four days after, No congress!!!! Shame!! Shame on all of you!!

Everyone should stop blaming the community alone! The students who took fotos to drive traffic to their blogs are murderers!! NANS executive that has decided to only pay courtesy calls to Government and multi-nationals are murderers!! The SUG that has refused to put the interest of Students above personal gains are murderers!!

Please point out where it was said that they were going to learn how to speak and write.
What the deputy speaker proposed was opportunities for training in the areas of public speaking,
persuasion and specialized arts of writing

From the concerns you raised, I assume you are one of those students who have this govt scholarship. Considering your sentence construction, and 'what'z', I really wonder what criteria was used in selecting students for this scholarship. NB: its NIGERIA, and not Nigera!!

Car TalkRe: Nigerians At Risk : Japanese Radioactive Cars In The Market by trix1: 2:10pm On Sep 07, 2012
This headline looks misleading. The Fukushima incident happened in March 2011, which is about 17months ago. Radiation is carried on dust particles, The air itself isn't radioactive but small dust particles are; washing off the dust from any surface that has been exposed decontaminates radiation. We have had two raining seasons since then, So even if these cars haven’t been washed, rain must have washed off the radioactive dust (if any). I think any concerns would have been the few months after this incident, not more than a year later.
Foreign AffairsRe: Barack Obama's Speech At The DNC 2012 by trix1: 10:46am On Sep 07, 2012
ehie: @trix
who says i didnt read the post?
it sure sounded like the one he wrote 4 years ago
and i still called him an empty suit

HOWEVER MY LONG POST ABOUT THINGS THAT REALLY MATTER AND HOW IT WILL AFFECT AFRICA, BLACKS AND NIGERIA.
So what i meant in my post is that everything will remain the same, speech or no speech, but by the actions he has exhibited and the signs the discerning can see over time
secondly, that a "black man"was elected a president "doesnt mean jack,
if black Americans and Africans have and regaled themselves to be inferior only waiting for Obama to give them that courage then i have no words to tell them.
I have often believed in my ability as person first and as an African second...i have not fallen for the mass propaganda of stereotyping,
Africans invented the Refrigerators and Africans were the founders of the first university in Timbuktu , ancient EGYPT was black,so my primal instinct as a person was that i was able and capable and equal to anyone in the universe so i did not have to wait for Obama to become president to be able to succeed..
Obama was elected but has also been a huge dissapointment by throwing his people under the bus...
let him work on the laws that put his people in bondage before he can have my respect,e.g let Trayvon Martin get justice before he can earn any respect....
Another question for Uncle Tom Obama,if he has a conscience, why are Nigerians and Africans killed by the new junta in Libiya...please i need an answer...
Looking at Human history in general, and American history in particular, it was quite a big deal that a black man was elected president!! Remember Luther’s ‘I have a dream’??
I am not in America, and would not want to meddle into what he did and what he did not do. But my point remains that the fact that he could, gave people around the world hope!!

And YES!! Eloquence and good oratory skills are important skills in leadership!!

Nicedeal: my friend, what difference does it make. The 3 most important thing when buying a vehicle is 1, the engine of the car(is it sound), 2 the body of the car (is it very clean) 3, the interior of the car(is it neat) and the price of the car( will i be able to afford it). Before any banking transactions your own mechanic has to certify it, text driving is completely free of charge (it's called inspection).I think your concern should be, is this offer good to be true, Ok am coming for inspection. Thank you
I'm pretty sure you know that the car's history is also important! if you dont, then you have no business selling cars!!!

ehie: what are u try tring to sell with Obama's speech always coming up in the front page,

What has Obama ever done for Africa or Nigeria,

That was how people like u brainwashed everyone that Obama was the messiah,he was change, and the Yes we can brigade was everywhere.

Get one thing straight

1. The real people who run America will never do anything that will upset the status Quo.

2.Obama is just a stooge just like every other president and he is a front for the people who really control the government. If you think any leader controls a government think again, the real people behind the government of any nation are a few billionaires who will put some one there to protect their interest, just like the 1 percent.

3.Your long Post aka the speech are just word aimed at creating euphoria and sentiment,Nothing changes every thing remains the same

4.Blacks will still be the majority in death row,Blacks will still b e the majority on welfare,Racism will never stop in America or in in the World.

5.America will continue to exploit Africa and no matter what happens who wins they will continue to destabilize the middle east,Russia and China will always protect the underdogs i.e Iran and Syria.,Egypt will go from bad to worse,so will Iraq and Libya,American soldiers will still be KILLED AND MAIMED in Afghanistan and no government elected will have the balls to pull them out
.
6.Goods will come from China and Jobs will go to China, and China will be the next superpower whether America LIKES IT OR NOT
6.Nigeria will remain backward and corrupt as long as it remains petty and tribalistic and dependent on oil,and FORIEGN GOVERNMENT LIKE IT THIS WAY AS THEY ARE LESS ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS..

7.Boko Haram will fizzle out soon but the damage they have caused will remain for a long time and the growth of Northern Nigeria will be stunted and will take decades to recover..

8.The game may have changed but the players still remain the same..

STOP POSTING THE FRIGGING SPEECH OVER AND OVER AGAIN
I take it that you too did not read any of the previous speeches that had been posted here in the last few days! The one that was posted yesterday and the previous day was Bill and Mitchell’s speech!!
If only you had taken time to read it, you wouldn’t have said ’STOP POSTING THE FRIGGING SPEECH OVER AND OVER AGAIN’
A word of advice, the mere fact that Obama won his first tenure, was an inspiration to a lot of people around the world, that a black man could win presidential election in the USA gave them hope to keep trying; that If Obama could, they too can overcome whatever obstacles they faced!! So yeah, Obama did something for not just Americans, but for Nigerians and Africans!!

It saner democracies, Reuben would be on his way out of government for such blatant lies!
So you have proof that She is hospitalized in Germany? I'm curious, why hasn’t any news agency with a known office and reporters carried this news? why is it that only faceless news agencies have this authoritative source?
I’m not holding brief for anyone, But Rebuen Abati Said She's on vacation, an ‘authoritative anonymous source’ said she's hospitalized, who am I to believe? Spokesperson for the president, or an unknown person?
My point is Ruben can be held liable for what he said, and unknown person cannot be held liable.
