A Nigerian man who recently came back home from the US, has accused police officers in Lagos of using cultists to threaten him. The man who has the handle @heavenlyblessed00 on IG, said he went to the Lekki Divisional Police station to report a thief that was caught burgling his car but to his suprise, the police officers allegedly used cultisits to threaten him. Read what he wrote on his IG page this morning below

So this morning this morning In Lekki phase 1, i was sleeping when the security man came to wake me up that he caught someone broke into my car with the things he stole from the car and everywhere ransacked, we called the security agency and they called the cops but they had no patrol vehicle as they said, we decided to take him to the Lekki Divisional Police station, the case was reported, i wrote a statement as the complainant, to cut the story short they asked if i wanted to charge the thief to court and that I’ll have to pay for the transport and some stuffs to be able to charge a thief to court, i told them i don’t want to be the one responsible for sending another man to prison for stealing things i already recovered, they still begged for money anyway cos they found out i just came back from America, i gave them some money and i wrote a letter to withdraw the case and let everything go, so before i could come back outside one of the policemen went and wrote on my car “MEET US AT THE ELF BUS STOP SAYS BY AROMATE CONFRATERNITY TODAY OR YOU WILL FINE YOURSELF AS A DEAD MAN BY 11 ON THE DOT signed “

So i went back into the police station to get the attention of the officers and they were all acting like they don’t know who wrote it or what was going on. Who could have come to a police station and write this on the car, like WTF, This is what Nigerian police has been reduced to, they either find a way to extort you or even kill you for your possession if they have a chance, this is exactly why no one believe in this country no more, this country will never be great, there’s no way it will ever be, politicians aren’t the only problem we have...smfh

A Twitter user, Farooq Kperogi shares video of Nigerian soldiers in the war front complaining how soldiers are dying everyday due to Lack of water and Food.

It was heard in the video where the soldiers were shouting president Buhari's name to help them.


One of the soldiers can be heard in the video saying " Boko Haram are not the ones killing us, lack of water and food is what killing us"

He also said " we are tired of this country and we are going to call amnesty international to help us intervene, more than 10 soldiers are dying everyday"

The Osun State Police Command, on Thursday, paraded three suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity, whom it accused of causing the death of many rival cult members and members of the public.

The suspects are Afeez Alade aka Esubiyi; Seyi Adesoji and Sodiq Olatunde.

Parading the suspect before journalists, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, said the 28-year-old Alade was arrested after several months of trailing him.

He said the suspect was arrested at the Jaleyemi area of Osogbo during a stop and search operation by the police on December 6, 2018.

Responding to questions from journalists, Alade said he stayed away from criminal activities after he got married in 2016, adding that he was caught when he came to return a gun belonging to the Eiye group that was in his custody.

He stated,

“I joined the Eiye Confraternity in 2009 while in school, where I studied accounting. I became notorious after I was shot and inflicted with machete cuts in different parts of my body by the rival cult members. I was supposed to forgive but I didn’t do that.

“My rank in the Eiye Confraternity is called ‘Dove’. I am the number eight in my group. I didn’t kill many people. I only killed Bode. Bode belonged to Axe Confraternity. I shot him during a fight between my group and his group. He didn’t die immediately; I was told he died later.

“I also shot one member of the Axe Confraternity. I shot him in the eye and the gunshot blinded him. After I did all that, I got married in 2016 and I left Osun State.

“I stayed in Lagos with my family and I was no longer involved in the activities of my group. But in December last year, members of my group started calling that I should return their gun. I was in Osogbo that evening to return the gun when I was caught.

“I deserve whatever my judgement is, but I advise youths not to join cult groups; it is a world of deception. I pray for mercy. If God can spare me, I will never get involved in criminal activities again.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction and sentencing of one Efe Egube, a former Bank Manager, to seven years imprisonment before Justice Atinuke Ipaye of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos.



The convict, who was a Branch Manager of the defunct Oceanic Bank, was arraigned alongside his company, Ocean Energy Trading and Services Limited, sometime in 2014 on a 19-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N50, 049,000.00, an offence contrary to Section 1(1) and (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other
Related Offences Act No. 14 of 2006.



Egube’s journey to prison began after the Commission received a petition dated February 6, 2013 written by A.A. Malami, SAN & Co. on behalf of Sanusi Kamba, owner of Aminu Gandi Petroleum Limited.



The petitioner alleged that between 2007 and 2008, the defendant used his position as a Branch Manager to facilitate the granting of a credit facility to the petitioner, which was disbursed in tranches.



The defendant was also said to have given the petitioner instruction to make payments into the accounts of some individuals and companies for the purchase of petroleum products to the tune of N50, 049,000.00.

However, the petroleum products were never supplied to the petitioner by the individuals and companies, thereby making it impossible for the petitioner to repay the loan when it became due.



He pleaded not guilty to the charge, thereby setting the stage for his trial.
In the course of the trial, the prosecution presented six witnesses
and tendered several documents that were admitted in evidence by the
court against the defendant. The defendant, however, testified in his trial.

Delivering her judgment, Justice Ipaye convicted and sentenced Egube to seven years imprisonment on counts 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10,11,12, 13 and 17.
The sentences are to run concurrently from the day of conviction.

Justice Ipaye also gave a restitution order against the convict and his company "for the repayment forthwith of the total amount obtained by false pretence.”

The Peoples Democratic Party says it has been informed that the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has appointed Mrs. Amina Zakari, a niece of President Muhammadu Buhari, as the Chairperson of INEC Advisory Committee and Presidential Election Collation Centre Committee.

The main opposition party said this via a statement signed by Director, Media & Publicity, PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Kola Ologbondiyan.

The statement reads, “The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation vehemently and unequivocally rejects, in its entirety, the appointment of Mrs. Amina Zakari, President Buhari’s blood relation, as head of the collation of results in the same election in which her uncle, President Buhari, is a candidate.

“The appointment of Mrs. Amina Zakari constitutes a direct violence against the presidential election and the PDP will not, in any way, whatsoever, accept it.

“This is the same Amina Zakari who headed the ICT Department of INEC. It will interest Nigerians to note that this is the same Amina Zakari that was alleged to have played some roles in the 2018 governorship election in Osun state.

“In appointing Mrs. Amina Zakari to head the collation of this Presidential election, Prof. Yakubu has confirmed that he has been compromised.

“We, therefore, call on all Nigerians and particularly the National Peace Committee to note that with the appointment of Amina Zakari as head of the collation of presidential results, the INEC chairman is setting the stage for a very huge political crisis, which is capable of derailing our democratic process.

“We also urge the United Nations and other global democratic institutions to take note of this appointment by the INEC Chairman.

“If the INEC Chairman wants a peaceful presidential election, he should, with the speed of light, reverse himself on this appointment.

“The PPCO reiterates its position that, for us to have a peaceful election, Mrs. Amina Zakari should not be seen anywhere near any of the 2019 election processes, not to talk of being involved in the collation of presidential results

“The PDP remains committed to a peaceful and credible process, but we will never, in any way, allow anybody to use any means, under any guise whatsoever, to rig us out in this election — not after it is clear that Nigerians have attained a consensus to rally behind our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as their next president.

“All we ask for is a free, fair, credible and transparent electoral process in which the votes of Nigerians will not only count but will be seen to have counted.”

The Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has condemned the vandalization of billboards belonging to political parties and their candidates in the state by unknown persons.

Governor Ahmed, in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Dr Muyideen Akorede, denounced the action and warned political parties, their candidates and supporters to desist from such acts.

He described the action as unfortunate and unacceptable which is against the interest of peace and harmonious coexistence that Kwara State is renowned for.


Ahmed urged political parties and their candidates to campaign for votes in the forthcoming general elections on the basis on their ideas and plans for the electorate rather than deploying force, violent rhetoric or otherwise taking the law into their hands.

The statement read in part; “The Governor said only the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria(APCON) and the Kwara State Signage and Advertising Agency (KWASAA) are authorized by law to either approve or remove outdoor advertising for non-compliance with existing regulations.

“He stressed that the Police and other law enforcement agencies in the state have been advised to arrest and prosecute anyone either violating the law on outdoor advertising or illegally destroying billboards.


“The people of Kwara State should exercise their franchise freely without fear or favour in the 2019 elections and desist from any actions capable of creating crises, violence or otherwise disrupting the polls.“

The Governor added that it is the responsibility of all concerned to ensure that Kwara State maintains its reputation for rancour-free campaigns and elections.

The Byculla police on Sunday, arrested seven more Nigerian drug peddlers who had created a menace in south Mumbai, making it a total of 14 arrested since last week.

Several teams of zone III, had on December 15, arrested seven Nigerians who had fired on cops, injuring four. The police recovered drugs worth Rs 21 lakh, a country made revolver, 550 grams of MD, 110 grams of brown sugar and Rs 41,000 in cash.

Police said they received information that the remaining members of the gang were likely to meet near Byculla railway tracks. A trap was laid and seven more Nigerians were arrested. Police recovered 10 cartridges, seven passports whose visas had expired, 55 grams of cocaine, cash of 200 US Dollars, Rs 3.80 lakhs, a button knife, a digital weighing machines and two mobile phones.


What baffled the police is the fact that the visas were issued to them in Bangladesh.

After their tourist visas expired, the accused were illegally staying in rented rooms in Nallasopara, Vasai Virar and Navi Mumbai.

Police said that the modus operandi of the gang was to move in group of 10 or more and when any police party raids or chase them, they would fire towards police and scare them.

The Nigeria Police Force, on Wednesday, denied plans to arrest and kill Senator Dino Melaye.

A statement by Police spokesman, DCP Jimooh Moshood said a statement attributed to Senator Dino Melaye, captioned “IG plans to arrest me, inject me to death,” is false.


Moshood said: “The Force is categorically stating that the statement is mischievous, malicious, capable of misleading the public and laughable.”

He added that, “there was no such order from the Inspector General of Police or any plan by the Force to arrest Senator Dino Melaye and inject him to death.”

However, the Police said: “But if the Senator knows he had committed any crime or he is aware of his involvement in any crime, he should come out and confess and face the legal consequences instead of whipping up sentiments to distract the public.”

“The Force sees such defamatory, mischievous, malicious and reckless statement by Senator Dino Melaye as untrue, ridiculous, mischievous and unfortunate.”

Moshood added that: “Members of the public are hereby enjoined to disregard and discountenance the statement by Senator Dino Melaye in its entirety as untrue and mischievous.”

He also said Melaye should know that his statement constitute a criminal defamatory offence, hate speech and hateful conduct.

“He should however, as a law maker, be law abiding and desist from un-senatorial and lawless utterances that cannot be substantiated with facts.

“The Inspector General of Police will not be distracted by statements from the likes of Senator Dino Melaye but will continue to ensure that the rule of law prevails in all matters,” the police stated.

Thugs reportedly destroyed campaign billboard of Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq who is APC candidate for 2019 Governorship election in Kwara.

It was reported that the thugs were sent by Nigeria Senate President, Bukola Saraki to destroy the billboard in every part of Kwara if spotted.

He wrote:

The orchestrated attack on me at IEDPU yesterday has continued today but now with our billboards all over Kwara. What they don’t know is this: #OTOGE is not just words on a billboard, it’s now ingrained in the hearts of every Kwaran, and NO ONE can take it from our hearts.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday said the type of leadership that he and his running mate, Mr. Peter Obi, offer Nigerians has not been seen in the country since Independence.

Atiku, who spoke during a town hall meeting with representatives of the business community in Aba, Abia State, blamed the ruling All Progressives Congress for allegedly instigating economic regression in the country.

According to the PDP candidate, Nigerians cannot afford to have 50 million unemployed men and women.

He said, “That is why there is insecurity. To be able to do business, you must have a secure environment. Otherwise, you will not even be able to come out of your house and go to your factory.

“We have two very experienced men, both in governance and business: Peter Obi and myself. I don’t think Nigeria has ever produced this type of leadership since Independence. If you are doubting us, you know what you should do? Try the two of us.

“If you’re producing juice, I’m a manufacturer of beverages. If you’re producing plastics, I’m a manufacturer of plastics. If you have poultry, I’m a manufacturer of livestock.

“If you’re selling food in the market, I own fast food (restaurants). If you are in printing, I have a printing industry. If you are into broadcasting, I own television stations.

“So, what are you going to tell me?”

Abubakar stated that his various companies had been spending N600m to pay for trucks haulage until he decided to start his own haulage business.

“I sat down with them and said, ‘No, we must go into road haulage. Let’s have our own trucks. I can’t spend N600m on mere road haulage.’ And today, we’re in a successful haulage industry.

“So, my brothers and sisters, the government that has tried to solve most of the challenges that the business community are facing in this country is the PDP government and here is another opportunity, so you don’t repeat the mistake of bringing back this government,” he said.

Residents of Maiduguri, Borno state capital, are irked by the recent uninterrupted electricity supply which has caused astronomical increase in charges. Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) came under attack by residents who see the 24 hours electricity supply as waste and digging holes in their pockets. The constant power supply, according to the residents, had caused what they described as “outrageous billings.’’ Mr. Ibrahim Suleiman, a resident who lives in Bolori Layout, appealed to the YEDC to reduce supply of electricity. “YEDC should go back to the former supply system where electricity was supplied for 12 hours and not 24 hours recently being enjoyed. Suleiman described the stable power supply as a “wastage” because many consumers cannot use electricity during working hours. “I work from 7 p.m. to 4 p.m. So I do not need any electricity until I get home. But in this case, whether you consume power or not, you will be billed to pay for it. I think this is not fair, “he said. Residents told newsmen on Tuesday that the incurring high bills was worrisome. They said that it was not in the interest of the masses, because it has hindered economic activities and social life of the people. They also alleged that YEDC jacked up their electricity bills by over 100 per cent for commercial and residential areas sequel to appreciable improvement in power supply in the metropolis. Mr Esther Chukwuma, one of the consumers, described the new billing adopted by the power distribution companies as frustrating and lamentable. “My bill indicated that I used 605 units in November and they charged N14, 000 as against N6, 500 for September where I used the same units. “They are charging me for what I did not consume because during the day, I spend most of my time in my shop. I only use the electricity at night at home. “I have a prepaid metre in the shop and I don’t spend more than N2, 000 in a whole month. “So how come I am not staying at home and i am being asked to pay N14, 000. “I am here in their office, demanding an explanation,” she said. Also speaking, Mrs Fatima Musa, a widow, said: “I was given a bill of N15, 000 monthly instead of the N5,000 I used to get monthly. “I strongly disagree with this outrageous charges given without any explanation.” She said that electricity consumers were at the receiving end especially those without prepaid metres, noting that the billing process was “opaque and lacks transparency.” Malam Abdullahi Bako, who lives in Gwange, said “how can YEDC be bringing between N9, 000 and N15, 000 to a room apartment in a month?” “We are being forced to pay for electricity we never consumed; this is extortion, we demand for transparency in the billing methodology,” Bako said. Responding, Alhaji Usman Wakta, the YEDC Maiduguri Business Manager, said the company does not bill its customers arbitrarily. “These complaints may be as a result of the commissioning of the 330kV transmission line which now supplies electricity 24 hours. He said that before the commissioning of the new line, the stations relied on the 132KV controlled from Biu, which can only supply for a period of ten to twelve hours per day. “On the average, we now supply electricity in the town for a minimum of 22 hours in a day which simply implies that the consumption of energy by residents in the state have multiplied or even tripled itself. “We took a simple study from our prepaid metres users and we found out that the people that usually came to buy unit of N2000 or N3000 in a month now have to spend N15, 000 or N20, 000 because of their energy usage. “One thing we notice about the consumers is that they waste energy. People have this habit of leaving their lights on even in the afternoon. “Go to some super markets or filling stations, you will see more than 200 bulbs on in the afternoon. So the more you load you use the more energy you consume. On the allegation of exorbitant billing of consumers without meter, Wakta said : ”We go to people’s home to do load assessment based on the gadgets they have in the house and bill them accordingly.“
