SportsManchester United Appoint Carrick As New Manager after Mourinho sacked by Trizzi(op): 2:00pm On Dec 18, 2018
Former Manchester United midfielder, Michael Carrick has been appointed to takeover as caretaker boss at the club.

This is following the sack of Jose Mourinho on Tuesday.

The club slumped to a 3-1 defeat at arch-rivals Liverpool on Sunday and left them a whopping 19 points adrift of the Premier League table toppers.

Reports emerging from Old Trafford said that the club has appointed Carrick as caretaker boss until a permanent replacement is made.

The 37-year-old former England international resigned from playing football last summer, and despite being just a matter of months into his new role at United, has made himself popular with the club’s players, who enjoy a good rapport with their former teammate.

A former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino are leading candidates to take the position permanently.

United would to pay Mourinho, who was sacked on Tuesday after a 3-1 loss to Liverpool, a staggering £24million in compensation.

A source at Old Trafford told Sky Sport, “Michael Carrick will be acting as interim manager of Manchester United until a new temporary manager is appointed – an external appointment is expected within 48 hours. Carrick and Kieran McKenna will continue to take training in the meantime. “

CrimeFulani Pledge Readiness To End Hostilities With Ekiti Farmers by Trizzi(op): 8:18pm On Dec 16, 2018
The Fulani, under the aegis of Gan Allah Fulani Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN), Ekiti State chapter, has said that they have put measures in place to end all forms of hostilities in the state.

The Gan Fulani association said in a statement, on Sunday, that “all necessary logistics have been put in place to make sure there’s peace between farmers and herdsmen in Ekiti State.”

He said the Fulani in the state believed “in the safety of Ekiti State and Nigeria at large.”

GAFDAN, a Fulani socio-cultural group, in the statement signed by its Ekiti State Chairman, Alhaji Issa Adamu, said its members were for peaceful co-existence and overall socio-economic development of the state and Nigeria.

They expressed the belief in the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi and pleaded their support for the administration “as it brings about overall development of the state.”

They congratulated Governor Fayemi and his deputy, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, saying “we surely believe that the new government will better the lives of Ekiti people.”

According to them, “the yearnings and aspirations of Ekitis will come true under the leadership of Dr Fayemi as his wealth of education and experience will make him perform credibly well.

“We thank Ekiti sons and daughters for bringing Dr Kayode Fayemi back as the governor.

“His return is for betterment of Ekiti people and the workers in the state. We are persuaded that he has what it takes to make Ekiti truly developed and transformed.”

In the statement, GAFDAN also passed a vote of confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari, saying his administration had “performed credibly well.”

The group called on Nigerians to vote for continuity of “the achievements by the Buhari administration between 2015 and 2018,” saying “Buhari is an experienced politician and retired General that understands the aspiration of the average Nigerian.”

They also contended that Buhari had “given corruption a good fight in our country, resulting in no more capital flight in our land.”

According to them, “the country’s resources that some shared in the past has become a thing of history since Buhari became the president. And now, we have something to show as foreign reserves unlike before.”

PoliticsLASAA Officials Allegedly Caught Destroying Jimi Agbaje’s Campaign Billboards by Trizzi(op): 7:38pm On Dec 16, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has accused the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency of declaring an all-out war against his campaign.

Agbaje said this on Sunday after residents of the Pedro area of the state reportedly caught five LASAA officials in the early hours of Sunday morning destroying the PDP candidate’s campaign billboards and loading them onto a truck on the Third Mainland Bridge.

The LASSAA officials were said to have been taken to the Pedro Police Station at Shomolu, Lagos, where they gave their names as: Julius Opebenyo, Tunde Akanbi, George Benson, Yinka Adejuwon and Saba Edgal.

The apprehended men were said to be in the LASAA uniform, with the agency’s identity cards on them, a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity, Jimi Agbaje Campaign Organisation, Mr. Felix Oboagwina, said.

Protesting over the incident, Agbaje said, “We have lost hundreds of billboards from supposedly LASAA officials. We believe this is a conspiracy by those in government against us. It is just not acceptable.

“These people preach democracy, but do not practise democracy. Democracy is about choice, democracy is about allowing us to express ourselves.”

Lamenting about the situation, the PDP candidate said his publicity devices, including A-Frame billboards and flags had been continually broken, vandalised and carted away by LASAA operatives, who, he alleged, usually leave untouched those of the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Describing the alleged LASAA clampdown on his publicity materials as “malicious, partisan, provocative, wicked and illegal,” Agbaje urged the Police to quickly apprehend and prosecute any LASAA agent found culpable in the damage of his campaign materials.

He also demanded that LASAA immediately return his billboards to their various sites.

In response, APC’s spokesperson in Lagos, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, said the party needed nobody’s help to win the election, hence, it could not have partnered with anybody to destroy the PDP candidate’s campaign billboards.

“Nobody is sending anybody to help the APC win the election. It’s not in our character to do that.

“We have even said it at the wards and local governments that nobody should do anything that will give the PDP any reason to accuse us of anything,” he said.

He added, “The PDP is already drowning, both at the state and federal levels. As a matter of fact, anybody destroying their campaign billboards is doing so for the opposition, not for us.”

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Chike Oti, has asked those destroying political parties’ candidates’ campaign materials to refrain from doing so to avoid public disturbance.

“We also advise the PDP candidate to petition LASAA and work things out with them,” Oti said.

PoliticsJubril Of Sudan: Fani-kayode Lists 15 Questions Buhari Must Answer by Trizzi(op): 11:02am On Dec 16, 2018
Femi Fani-Kayode, the Former Minister of Aviation, has dared President Muhammadu Buhari to come clean on the allegation that he was replaced by a certain Jubril of Sudan.

Fani-Kayode in an article released on Sunday on his Twitter page, highlighted 15 questions Buhari needs to address to prove allegations by leaders of the pro-Biafra group, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu is false.

Recall that Kanu since his reappearance in Israel penultimate month has been consistent in making weekly exposé on the alleged impersonation of ‘dead’ President Muhammadu Buhari by a Sudanese stage play actor, Jubril Aminu Al-Sudani.

The former minister urged Buhari to hold a two-hour interactive no-holds barred live media chat on national television to counter the claim.

He also challenged Buhari to call out Eric Stuart Joyce, the former Brirish MP, former Army officer and former MI6 agent, for declaring him dead sometime in 2017 and remove his hat to have his hair examined.

Excerpts from the article: “There is always a hidden truth, an angle, a grey area or an unseen dimension to everything that a Nigerian leader or politician says or does. It is in the light of this that I submit the following.

“If President Muhammadu Buhari really wants us to believe that he is not Jubril Aminu Al Sudani I challenge him to have a two-hour interactive no-holds barred live media chat on national television.

“I challenge him to take off his hat and let us examine his head and hair.

“I challenge him to let us measure his ears and inspect his earlobes.

“I challenge him to conduct a one hour non-stop conversation in Fufude, the Fulani language, on national television.

“I challenge him to explain how it is that he is now a good deal shorter in height than he was two years ago.

“I challenge him to tell us how it is that two years ago he looked like his Minister of Information’s (Lai Mohammed’s) grandfather, but today he looks like the Minister’s grandson.

“I challenge him to explain why he has not been going back to the United Kingdom for regular medical check-ups after his “miraculous” recovery from a strange and debilitating illness that ravaged and wrecked his body and that almost sent him to his grave.

“I challenge him to call out Eric Stuart Joyce, the former Brirish MP, former Army officer and former MI6 agent, for declaring him dead sometime last year and for accusing the Nigerian intelligensia, authorities, media, intelligence agencies and ruling elite of being complicit in the conspiracy and the Nigerian people of being the most gullible and naive in the world.

“I challenge him to explain why he did not appear with any of the key world leaders in any of the official pictures during his last trip to Paris.

“I challenge him to explain why President Donald Trump described him as “lifeless” and ordered his staff never to bring him before him again.

“I challenge him to explain why the First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, claims that two faceless, nameless, shadowy, strange and all-powerful individuals, whose shoes other government officials “lick”, are running the affairs of our country and not him.

“I challenge him to explain why he has refused to give one formal press interview to Nigerian journalists and on Nigerian soil for the last two years.

“I challenge him to deny the fact that body-doubles were often used in the civilised world during the 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s for security reasons and they often represented Presidents, Prime Ministers and Heads of State at official functions and events.

“Finally I challenge him to tell us whether it was a coincidence that Haibu Almu, the Nigerian Consul-General to the Sudan and NIA agent that allegedly discovered Jubril Aminu Al Sudani and proposed him as a credible and convincing body-double for the ailing Buhari in 2016, was suddenly knifed to death in Khartoum in May 2018 just a few weeks after his alleged role in the whole sordid “body-double” saga was made public.

“do not believe that Buhari is a clone but I do believe that the body-double allegation and rumour is worthy of our attention and consequently needs to be thoroughly investigated, explored and examined.

“Though I cannot vouch for the veracity of this allegation and rumour one thing is clear: a significant number of Nigerians do not believe that the man in Aso Rock Villa is the Buhari that they know and, rightly or wrongly, their perception is that there is something fishy going on.”

PoliticsDebate: Nigeria Lost Four Million Jobs In Six Months – Peter Obi by Trizzi(op): 8:15pm On Dec 14, 2018
The vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Peter Obi, has said Nigeria lost four million jobs in a six-month period, while China created 10 million jobs.
Obi, who said this in his opening speech at the ongoing vice presidential debate in Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, knocked the current administration for failing in counterterrorism, education and job creation.
He said, “On the issue of unemployment, which is worsening, we can see that millions of our children are out of school. You can see from a study that there is a straight link between SMEs and growing your economy, and we’re not supporting our own SMEs very well.
“If you look at what China has been able to do with SMEs, SMEs in China is contributing to 60 per cent of their GDP. And 60 per cent of China’s GDP is 7.2tn (dollars), which is 18 per cent of Nigeria’s GDP.
“China today, using the same SMEs, is guaranteeing 10 million jobs annually. Half of this year alone, China has produced 7.2 million jobs, which is over 40 per cent of their target. Within the same period, Nigeria lost four million jobs.”
According to the former Anambra State governor, Nigeria needs to rejig its policies and have a better focus on how it can create jobs.
He added that as long as Nigeria does not create jobs, with the number of unemployed youths in their productive age, Nigeria might go into crisis.
Obi said, “That is why we have issues of insecurity, instability and all sorts of things we are witnessing today. We now live in a country where we have the highest number of poor people in any nation — 87 million and growing six per cent every minute.
“Our country today has the highest number of school children in the world. Our HDI (human development index) has dropped from 152 to 157. Our global competitive index has dropped from 124 to 127.
“In terrorism, we have moved from seven to number three just behind Iran and Afghanistan. Our inequality has worsened. Our misery index has worsened. Stress index now places us at 148 of 149. These are hinged on two things from studies and that is on education and unemployment.”
According to Obi, with Nigeria unemployment moving from 24 to 40 per cent, the more it can invest in education, the better its economy. He said the statistics showed Nigeria was not investing in education.

BusinessGlobal Debt Hits Record $184trn At $86k Per Person , IMF Reveals by Trizzi(op): 2:08pm On Dec 14, 2018
The International Monetary Fund has said that the world debt has hit an all-time record of $184 trillion, an upward review from the $182 trillion it reported last week.

The figure represents an average of $86,000 debt owed per person, according to a statement by Ting Yan, Press Officer at IMF, on ‘Global Debt Database Update’.

“Today, the International Monetary Fund updated its publicly available Global Debt Database – a comprehensive dataset covering public and private debt for virtually the entire world (190 countries) dating back to the 1950s.

“Today’s update of the GDD offers for the first time a glimpse of global debt developments up to 2017.

“By including both the sovereign and private sides of borrowing for the entire world, the GDD offers an unprecedented picture of global debt in the post-World War II era”.

According to the update, global debt has reached an all-time high of $184 trillion in nominal terms or the equivalent of 225 per cent of Gross Domestic Product in 2017.

The $184 trillion is $2 trillion higher than the estimated number released during Fiscal Monitor press conference in October 2018, because it includes end-2017 data and the debts of several countries who had not previously reported their updated data.

“On average, the world’s debt now exceeds $86,000 per person – more than two and half times the average income per-capita.

“The top three borrowers in the world (United States, China, and Japan) account for more than half of global debt, exceeding their share of global output,” the IMF stated.

The Fund had put the global debt at $182 trillion on December 1, warning highly indebted emerging-markets and low-income countries against what it termed pro-cyclical fiscal policies.

IMF Managing Director, Christine Lagarde, disclosed the figure in a statement issued at the conclusion of the Group of 20 (G-20) Summit in Buenos Aires.

CrimePolice Arrest Six For Pasting Sowore’s Posters At Night by Trizzi(op): 4:23pm On Dec 09, 2018
The Police in Lagos have arrested six people for allegedly pasting the posters of the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, at night.

The Police spokesperson, CSP Chike Oti, said the action contravened the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency laws that forbade advertisers from pasting posters at “no other hour other than the day time.”

He explained that the men also violated an agreement reached during a meeting between the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, and political parties that nobody would destroy the campaign materials of others.

Oti noted that the suspects were arrested by operatives of the anti-crime unit around 2.30am on Sunday.

He said, “The anti-crime patrol team of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja Division, around 2.30am on December 9, 2018, arrested six young men, namely, Olagokun Odunayo, Kool-Kloud Henry, Ugaju Joseph, Damilola Omidiji, Michael Kate and Banwo Olagokun, of Take It Back movement, tearing posters of other political parties and replacing them with that of the African Action Congress, contrary to the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency laws that forbid advertisers from pasting posters at no other hour than the day time.

“Recall that an agreement was reached to the effect that no political party should undertake the defacing of campaign posters of other political parties or the destruction of their billboards, at a meeting at the Police Officers Mess, GRA, Ikeja, on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, tagged, ‘Security and stakeholders meeting,’ involving the INEC, chairmen of all political parties in the state and their flag bearers, chaired by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi.

“The following exhibits were recovered from the suspects: a poster bearing the picture of the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Mr. Sowore; brush, buckets containing gum and torn posters of other political parties.”

He added that the CP had directed that the suspects be charged to court on Monday for malicious damage and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, to serve as a deterrence to others.

CelebritiesQueeneth Agbor: I Must Test My Man Sexually Before Marriage by Trizzi(op): 12:26pm On Dec 09, 2018
At a time when many young girls say that they no longer believe in love, actress Queeneth Agbor says love has been good to her.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, she narrated her fondest experience in love. She said, “My boyfriend is the sweetest ever. He is all about giving and my 100 per cent happiness is his goal without him asking for nothing in return. Each time I look at him, I’m always in awe. There is no phone or anything else I want that he cannot give me. Recently, he actually needed to change his phone but with his busy schedule, he kept forgetting. I saw it as an opportunity to do something very special for him for once. I already knew the phone he wanted; so, I got it and surprised him. He almost returned it but I sweet-talked him and explained that if he rejected it, I would be heartbroken. That’s how I won.”

On the importance of sex in a relationship, Agbor said, “To some people, sex is associated with stability because it increases the bond and maintains a level of stability. As for me, I believe that sex is overrated in a relationship though I stand for sex before marriage with a good reason. I need to test my ‘goods’ so I don’t end up with something inadequate. Cheating is a no-no for me. However, in a relationship, getting to know your partner doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with sex. I prefer to bond mentally and intellectually. I know my lover for who he truly is. Sex gone bad can actually end a relationship before you even get to know the real person.”

Speaking on the biggest gift she has ever received from a lover, Queeneth said, “My boyfriend asked me to come outside my house to carry some things he bought for me, only for me to see a car.”

Agbor also said contrary to what some people might think about her, she is actually very spiritual. “One with God is in the majority; for without Him, I am nothing. As long as I breathe, I will continue to serve God. I am an ambassador of Christ with dignity, mentality that differentiates me from others,” the actress added.

PoliticsBuhari’s Presidency Favourable To Igbo, Says Duru by Trizzi(op): 6:34pm On Dec 05, 2018
A member of the fourth and Fifth Assembly in the House of Representatives, Nze Chidi Duru, has said the return of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 would best serve the interest of the Igbo.
He also said there is an increased acceptance of the All Progressives Congress in the South East because the president had done better for the people than previous governments of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja, Duru who is seeking a return to the House of Representatives to represent Aguata Federal Constituency of Anambra state, said Buhari retaining power in 2019 would give a better prospect to an Igbo president in 2023.
He said, “ four years of Buhari northern president with the possibility of Ibo president is a better one than another eight years of another northern president.”
Duru sought a two political party system to reduce the gale of defection among politicians.
“I think it is the political behaviour and I believe that like we proposed in a meeting held in 1999, our agenda was to shrink the political space. At least not more than two political parties. But for reasons that suited the authority, after we left they allowed the possibility of two to four political parties. And after that, you now have a different political environment where anybody can conjure a political party and then register and people will start moving from party A to party B.
“I also think that if we had kept faith with the two-party system that we proposed, the electorate will begin to notice that the movement across parties is not in their interest.

‘It is basically selfish interest that drives politicians from one party to another.”
