Christianity Etc › Married At 13, Seeks Divorce At 20 by true2god(op): 7:17am On Aug 28, 2013
Nasarawa State on Tuesday at a Grade
1 Area Court in Mararaba, Nasarawa
State, maintained her divorce request. Aisha had on May 29 filed a suit
seeking separation from her husband,
Hussaini Haruna, 27, of Gurku Village, At the resumption of hearing, she told
the court that she and her husband
could not resolve the matter after the
last adjourned date on Aug. 19. The husband, who spoke through his
counsel, Nuru Mua’zu, demanded
Islamic procedure of divorce. “This is an Islamic matter and there are
procedures to follow before a wife is
granted her wish for divorce. “One of the procedures is that the
woman has to pay what is known as
‘Kuli’. “Kuli means, paying back some of the
expenses the husband made in the
course of marrying the wife. “Though I don’t have the document
here, but the total expenses is around
N300,000,” Mua’zu said. He told the court that Aisha was eight
months pregnant for Haruna. Mua’zu applied for adjournment to
enable him bring the document
containing the list of expenses. The presiding judge, Mr Musa Danjuma,
granted the counsel’s application and
adjourned the case to Sept. 2 for
continuation of hearing. The wife had earlier told the court that
her parents gave her out in marriage at
the age of 13 without her consent. The mother of one said that she stayed
in the marriage for seven years, adding
that she had lost interest in the
marriage. She said her loss of interest was on the
ground that she was a child at that
time the marriage was contracted.

I agree, Russia is not a reliable ally. When US threatened dem in cuba (1962), dey chickened out despite the fact that the US was afraid of attcking cuba.

I would rather trust the US dan Russia as an ally. Saddam trusted them and they failed him.

U r a clown. The southwest produce chicken and fish head while the modern world is producing machineries.

The Yorubas can do the Igbos (and demselves) a favour, secede and we will back u up and leave Lagos. As long as Nigeria is one, Igbos wil always be in Lagos and there is noring Fashola can do about it.

We r not afraid of leaving Lagos and our investment, just pray that Nigeria breaks up, 95% of Igbos in Lagos will leave.

Do u knw hw much active Igbo populations pay yoruba lagos landlords annually? Lets do a bit arithmetic.....multiply 600000 igbo household (assuming each household equals 5pple) by 80000 (average annual house rent excluding shop rents)=N48billion (or more) we pay on house rent annually in Lagos. This amount can conveniently sustain a state in the federation. And remember dat an average hausaman dnt care about paying house rent in lagos, he can sleep anywhere he likes.

The truth is that if Igbos leave, the estate value in Lagos wil crash immediately, the banks will have liquidity problems, loans will be difficult to obtain from banks cos of cash constraints, transport busines in lagos will drop in revenue, the IGR will drop, arm robbry will increase, jobs wil be lose in banks. It will surely be a blesing for the Igbos if Nigeria divide.

This is the reason Yorubas fought zealously to keep Igbos in Nigeria at all cost. If Yorubas decide to leave Nigeria Igbos will be happy but if Igbos decide to leave they wont agree.

Students of logic will understand who is more important than the other here.
Nigeria was under leadership of Igbo men from 1960 to 66. The Eastern regional government was under the command of Igbo men. What kind of development did you have in Igboland during this time? Even back then places like Calabar and Port Harcourt were more developed than Igbo territories. So with your leaders in position of authority both at national and regional levels, why was your land not developed?

The war ended in 1970. The war was fought to crush the rebellion, it was not a demolition war. Even though the human casualty was high the structures pre existing the war were for most part left intact. So whatever build-up you had before the war, should still be there and recoverable after the war.

Between 1970 till now we have had two Igbo VP. Could they not see that their land needed development? What was their contribution to the development of Igboland?

New States and geopolitical zones created long after the war are by today's scale far more developed and appealing than Igboland. These places have attained the growth because of the vision of their leaders. Example - Jigawa, Edo, Ekiti, Niger, Kogi, these four states are brand new starting from bottom up and they already surpass much of Igboland in terms of appeal for people to settle in, visit or work. Why is Igboland lagging behind these new starters? Its because your leaders do not believe it is their duty to develop and grow alaigbo, they are stuck in the victim sentiment and are holding FG in ransom to come in and turn their region into a paradise. If Jigawa, Kogi, Ekiti were waiting for FG they will never grow to the scale where they are now, and the leadership in these states continue to map new plans and grow areas to attract investment and diversity. Your leaders have indoctrinated in you the mentality that Nigeria and others in this country owe you something, that we owe you development and progress. I ask you, as leaders, what do they owe you. Moreover, your generation will be the leaders there in few years, what do you owe yourselves?

The leaders of other regions will not stop their own growth and progress on account of you, whether you are present or absent but they will challenge your presence when their progress is threatened by it. That is the reaction we have always heard in North and recently in SW. Your presence is questioned. You may individually be able to change your individual destiny but when it comes to your collective future this is a responsibility for the leadership, not the individual.

APC in power will return authority to the regions. What vision do your leaders have to tap early into this projected reality? You muat do for yourself before others can do for you. If you wait for others in Nigeria to do for you your land will never develop beyond its current state and ultimately your entire ethnic group may abandon the land for better appeal elsewhere like Ekiti, Jigawa, Edo, where the indigenes will continously detest and subject you to humiliation.

Challenge your leaders and put pressure on them to bring pride and greatness to your land. If they initiate some projects on their own and get it going perharps FG might approach to help complete it and add more.
I knw u r educated but u r very wrong to tell me dat edo is more developed dan enugu, ekiti is more than anambra, or Jigawa is more developed dan Imo. I knw u must be joking or u dnt travel outside lagos.

I grow up in Lagos, and aside from Lagos there is no any economically viable state in the south west. Remember that its only the south western states (aside lagos) in the south that took the FG to court over the offshore\onshore dichotomy on oil revenue sharing formula. They said they cant operate without enough oil revenue frm federation acct. The other south western states are poorer than south eastern states.

The pride of south west is lagos, ok?

0monnak0da: How can you compare Federal project in Anambra to Lagos The FG project in lagos are businesses not Charity. The FG gets over 40 billion naira a month from Lagos on VAT this does not include custom duty or Excise duties not to mention the Airport. Lagos state gets about 13 billion from the FG in a good month so all in all Lagos is actually subsidizing Anambula state.

But the seaport in Lagos has been operating and bringing in money before 1900

so much money in fact that there was electricity with street lights,a telephone exchange and trains in Lagos before 1900 and that Carter Bridge (1st mainland) was built in 1901

http://libsysdigi.library.illinois.edu/ilharvest/Africana/Books2011-05/3064634/3064634_1904_lagos/3064634_1904_lagos_opt.pdf
As at den Lagos was still a separate colony from the rest of Nigeria. Lagos, as at then, was not Nigeria but a separate British colony that comprises the present Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, Ikoyi and Victoria Island.

The port, the train, telephone exchange were all built by the British to make their lives easy then. After the 1914 amalgamation Lagos, due to closeness to sea and some other logistical advantages was chosen by the Bristish as the administrative capital while Enugu, Ibadan and kaduna remain regional capital. From 1914 to 2000 Lagos continue to receive pre-eminence attention, in terms of infrastructure, as the nation's Fct.

Note that the development of other parts of Lagos (festac, surulere, ikeja, ilupeju etc) were catalyzed durin the oil boom of the 70's. And u wil agree that the money used for this projects was from the niger delta. Lagos belongs to the yorubas as their ancestral land but was developd, first by the bristish then the infusion of large federal cash and human resources from other parts of the country. I doubt if is was the yorubas that built the port, rail lines, the bridges etc in Lagos, they could have done the same in Ibadan and Ogbomoso.

That apart, providence has made it possible for us to be one, either by crook or not, but we should learn how to accomodate and respect each others right\feelings. If the country breaks today, the Yorubas can drive all Igbos out of Lagos, nobody will complain.

ACM10: You keep repeating this line. I have challenged you to compare between federal projects in Lagos and Anambra. All you do is to repeat this old and tired comment.
Ur response just got my attention. In the last 25yrs the population of Abuja is less than 200,000, but today its over 4million. Why? There is a lot of federal presense in Abuja, embassies and high commissions, ministries, etc. So its very natural for pple to move there to get a better life.

Until the FG stopped this skewed develpmental processes and balance it evenly, this issue will continue. I wont be surprised if gwari\hausa pple wake up one day and start 'deporting' non-indigenes frm abuja to go back to their states after billions of dollars niger-delta money has been used to set up infrastructures there. This is exactly wats happening in Lagos.

The over concentration of FG's presence in an area at the expense of others is the result of current Lagos crisis. If the FG dredge the onitsha and owerri inland port, make onne port an import processing zone (like lagos), built basic infratrutures in the east (just like lagos), there will be a natural migration.

This is where the Yorubas should play a role by pressuring the Fg to even social-econimic infrastrutural development acros the country.
Politics › Re: Lagos Labels Spare-Parts Dealers Security Threat by true2god: 11:45am On Aug 23, 2013
It's even ironical that 95% of Yorubas commenting on this thread, against the Igbos, are not from Lagos state. Even a large percentage of Yorubas at Alausa govt house are not of Lagos origin, they occupied positions based on the fact that they r from the southwest. Im really surprised at their policies against the Igbos who are their fellow Nigerians.

It is a very simple thing, if the Yorubas do not want Igbo in Lagos, they should submit an application to the UN for a referendum to be conducted for a peaceful dissolution of Nigeria. The Igbos will give dem 100% support at the UN, after den the Igbos will leave Lagos. Which i believe the Yoruba will NEVER do. Then y wont Yorubas chill and see how to maximize their benefit from the Igbos, instead of frustrating their efforts.

It will be a foolhardy to try to create an apartheid style against the Igbos, especially economic, it wont simply work. God had already blessed the Igbos will commercial and bizness skills which compensated for our political disadvantanges imposed on us the Nigerian\British govt.

Long live the Igbos,
Long live the Yorubas,
Long live the federal republic of Nigeria,
Politics › Re: Lagos Labels Spare-Parts Dealers Security Threat by true2god: 9:51am On Aug 23, 2013
The solution to to all this hatred, bigotry, frictions and tribalism is peaceful or violent dissolution of this unhealthy union called Nigeria. Right from the colonial period there had been hatred between the varios ethnic groups in Nigeria and this problem will always remain there.

On the question of Lagos, the Igbos will remain in Lagos as long as Nigeria's existence is still intact, just as the Yorubas wil remain in Ph and kano and some other major cities in Nigeria. The Igbos need to reach a compromise with the Yorubas in certain things, like revenue and politics, cos its very certain that the population of Igbos is now seen as a threat, both politically and economically, to the Yorubas.

This is where the Igbo leaders and the Yoruba leaders need to call an urgent meeting to resolve grey area b4 things get out of hand.

As an Igboman, the whole thing is weighing us down psychologically, when u cant ply ur trade freely in any part of the country, free from intimidation and extortion by the local community.

I wont blame whites again for treating us with disdain, it has shown dat blacks has a long way to go as a people. And with the way we treat ourselves, poverty may not exit from African continent.
Sports › Arsenal Targets Bezema And Di Maria by true2god(op): 2:51pm On Aug 22, 2013
Arsenal are working on deals to sign
Real Madrid attacking pair Karim
Benzema and Angel Di Maria. The Gunners are prepared to pay £40m
for 25-year-old France striker Benzema
after missing out on Gonzalo Higuain and Liverpool's Luis Suarez. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger also
wants Argentina left winger Di Maria,
25, and is understood to be chasing a
keeper and a defender as well. The Londoners won 3-0 at Fenerbahce in the Champions League on
Wednesday. It means they are in control of the
qualifying play-off tie heading into the
second leg at Emirates Stadium on 27
August and should they reach the
Champions League group stage for a
16th consecutive season, it could help attract transfer targets to the club. Wenger is a long-term admirer of
Benzema, who joined Real from Lyon for an initial £30m in 2009, while Di
Maria arrived at the Bernabeu from
Benfica a year later. Arsenal's only summer signing to date
is the 20-year-old French striker Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer from Auxerre, but it is thought they could
spend close to £100m by the close of
the transfer window at 23:00 BST on 2
September. Speaking after his side's win at
Fenerbahce in their Champions League
qualifying play-off first leg, Wenger
admitted the pursuit of Suarez was
over after Liverpool rejected two bids
for their Uruguay forward and insisted he was not for sale. "Absolutely no chance of that,"
Wenger said about the chances of
Suarez arriving at Emirates Stadium. The Gunners have also had a £10m offer for Newcastle midfielder Yohan
Cabaye turned down, but Wenger suggested
the final 12 days of the transfer
window would be busy. Arsenal lost at home to Aston Villa on the opening day of the Premier League
season and have suffered injuries to
Mikel Arteta, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
and Laurent Koscielny, while Abou Diaby remains sidelined and fellow
midfielder Jack Wilshere is still
returning to full match fitness. "Quality wise we do not need, but
numbers wise we are short," Wenger
continued. "We lost Arteta and Diaby. We are
without three international
midfielders. We will try and bring one
in but we are working on that. What
you have to understand is that there is
still a long way to go. "The transfer market really starts now,
a lot of activity will happen between
now and 2 September. We have 12
days. A lot will happen. It starts now."

Politics › Tafawa Balewa Seek North's Supportfor Jonathan by true2god(op): 6:35am On Aug 22, 2013
Dr. Abduljhalil Tafawa Balewa, son of
Nigeria’s first prime minister, Alhaji
Tafawa Balewa, has said that President
Goodluck Jonathan would be returned
to office in 2015 based on his good
works, saying the sophistication of northern voters would shock many. In a session with newsmen in Lagos,
yesterday, Abduljhalil, who holds a
Ph.D in nuclear chemistry and spent 49
of hi 56 years outside the country, said
President Jonathan has renewed
confidence in the country through repair of infrastructure and empathy to
northern interests and the dignity of
women. He especially praised Dr. Jonathan’s
affirmative action on women, which
he said, has promoted women to the
highest level of governance as never
before. Dr. Tafawa-Balewa also dismissed the
major opposition party in the country
represented by the All Progressives
Congress, APC, as doomed to failure,
saying that it was full of failed PDP
politicians. He nevertheless made an exception
with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,
whom, he described as a good
politician.

ALTRUTH: I have great military knowledge and I know very well that advancing from the East and breaking into Lagos would be a very difficult job because yorubas would likely try to attack the flanks of the invading army. However, let me sound a clear warning that if yorubas make any Rwanda style attempt at the Igbos in Lagos, we will hit the yoruba states close to our borders with such destruction that would force the yorubas to flee en mass towards Lagos while many would flee to Cotonou and Ghana. For any Igbos you take out in Lagos we will multiply by ten and hit your states so hard that yorubas will call for negotiations. Never make that mistake of attacking our people in Lagos. let me also say that with sufficient heavy weaponry, we can bring the battle to Lagos and into your parlours and bedrooms.

I also call on my people, the Igbos to respect their hosts in Lagos and be law-abiding.

A word is enough for the wise. Enough said.

One another note, I don't understand that Afam stuff you're talking about; check and see when I registered on this forum.
If the yorubas lay mines from edo to lagos, hw do u expect an Igbo troop to move freely? Besides we Igbos dnt have military hard-wares to fight, no military instalations, no airforce base, no navy (not even a dockyard).

We r already encircled by Nigerian military in case u dnt knw. On our western flank, there is an airforce base in Benin, their is a strong artlery for in ondo, abeokuta and Ibadan and an airforce base in Lagos.

On the northern flank, there is artilerry force in makurdi, an airfoce base in Jos and kaduna. All very close to our northern border (with some identified\unidentified military installation in the north) there is no single military establishemnt in Igboland. Hw do u want to fight modern war?

Presently, even the yorubas can invade us with the small military weapons they have. I dnt knw wat u r smokin before typing.

In any endeavour it is necessary to do a backgroung check on someone, especially the one we look upon as role models, or a religios leader.

History had it that prophet mohammed came from a family deep in idol worship and later became a prophet, the only prophet of arab race, after receiving some revelation from Allah.

History also had it that he led many military campaigns to subdue his adversaries who fight to oppose\destroy his ideology\new religion.

I have limited knowledge about this personality and would like my muslim friends to shed more light about his story, exploits and even lifestyles, that had affected (and still affecting) millions of pple world-wide while i also do an independent study about this man.

Thank you.
