Victor T Injoh who shared the report online - claimed that the lady identified as Faith Ishaku of Taraba State Polytechnic, was allegedly assaulted by church officials during morning service on Sunday, April 14th, for not purportedly dressing properly to church.

Oga! Citizenship is not the bone of contention but the eligibility to contest for the office of the Presidency.

Even if your son is born in the moon he is a Nigerian but he can't be President of this country according to the 1999 constitution.
I think is a breach of their fundamental human right. If you are eligible to vote, then you can also be voted for. That part of the constitution should be harmonized with other part. In my opinion, anyone whose parents are Nigerians are also Nigerians by birth irrespective of where he was born.

For instance, a woman who is pregnant travels to Ghana and met her labour there, you will now say his child cannot context because he is not born in Nigeria. It's stupidity of the highest order.
Politics › A Critical Analysis Of The Phrase, :nigerian By Birth'. by TruthinAction(op): 1:20pm On Apr 15, 2019
The recent controversy concerning the issue of whether Atiku is a Nigerian by birth must be taken very seriously as we have gone too far as a Nation to be taken for fools. Now, if I relocate to the United States and give birth to all my kids there, are they not Nigerians by birth? I don't think it has to do with where one is born but rather with the nationality of your parents.

If Atiku grand parents could be traced to Sokoto, then he is a Nigerian by birth.

The bone of contention is where he was born. I mean place of birth which determines who is eligible to be President of Nigeria. If Cameroon, sorry. cheesy
So if I my wife delivers a baby in the US, then my child is not a Nigerian by birth? I don't get it. So the kids of all those who were born abroad are not Nigerians by birth. I think the phrase by birth should be clearly defined. To mean, it should be if your parents are Nigerian, then you are a Nigerian by birth. Otherwise all Nigerians is diaspora must come home to deliver their babies if they have Presidential ambition. Sounds very stupid.

Many armed bandits have met their Waterloo at the hands of security operatives in Zamfara state. Some of the gunmen were killed during shootout with the security agents during clearance operation in various forests within the state.

Last week, security operatives were deployed to Zamfara state over the incessant killings and kidnappings by armed bandits. The security agents begun operations in earnest to apprehend the masterminds responsible for the chaos and flush out criminal elements in the region.

Zamfara has been ravaged by bandits and kidnappers for over two years now. The bandits raze markets and homes and kill villagers indiscriminately.

They should define the armed bandits for transparency sake. Are they herdsmen or militants? I doubt if they are herdsmen because they appear to enjoy some degree of immunity.

Politics › Re: FG To Look Into Gradual Removal Of Fuel Subsidy - Minister by TruthinAction: 2:27pm On Apr 12, 2019
tactius:
The Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed says the Federal Government will look into gradual removal of fuel subsidy as part of strategy to boost revenue.

Ahmed said this on Thursday on the sideline of the IMF/World Bank meetings currently taking place in Washington DC, United States of America.

Ahmed made the disclosure while reacting to the IMF’s advice to Nigeria and other countries who still subsidise fossil fuel to stop doing so.

According to the IMF, fuel subsidy removal would help boost revenue and improve government’s spending to build more hospitals, roads, schools, and to support education and health for the people.

“It’s good advice, but we have to implement it in a way that will be successful as well as sustainable.

“We are not in the position to wake up one night and just remove subsidy. We have to educate the people, we have to show the Nigerian citizens what the replacement for this subsidy will be.

“So, we have a lot of work to do because subsidy removal has to be gradual and the public has to be well informed,” she said.

Ahmed said that since the IMF/World Bank meetings started, she has had high-level meetings on taxation and discussions on global economy.

“We spoke on the need to build more fiscal buffers because of the slow down in global economic growth and partly by the natural incidences that are happening around the world like the cyclone in Southern Africa.

“We are discussing between ourselves on how we can better manage our finances and also how we must curtail the increases in our debt.

“For Nigeria, we are asking the World Bank to review some of the initiatives that involves them looking at implementation systems when they are providing funding for infrastructure.

“We understand that it’s well intended but we have informed them that they need to review its implementation, so that we are not overly slowed down because of the new procedures,” she said.

All I can say is that if her party had supported this in 2012...the benefits would have been there. Low oil prices have forced their hand.
There is no subsidy. We only have thieves unwilling to stop stealing in the guise of subsidy.

Any farming community that does not find ways to protect itself against Fulani attack is foolish. They ought to go about their farming ready to defend themselves any time. They should divide themselves into groups. Those who give alarm after sighting the attackers. Those who are armed ready to defend. If they have to set traps, they should go ahead and do so. Anyone who dies from this time henceforth in the hands of herdsmen is a big fool.
Politics › Re: MURIC Expresses Disappointment Over Fayemi’s Commissioners List by TruthinAction: 6:52pm On Apr 05, 2019
phranklean:
The governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, sent his list of commissioners to the State assembly on Tuesday, 2nd April, 2019. The list contained fourteen (14) names. The governor also added another five (5) names for the nomination of the chairman and members of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission (EKSLGSC).

Meanwhile the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has described the list as most disappointing. The Islamic human rights organization reacted in a press statement signed by its Founder and Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, on Thursday, 4th April, 2019.

“This list is heavily lopsided. Fayemi is ill-advised. He has grossly shortchanged Muslims. How can he give us only one commissioner out of fourteen? What parameter did he use? This is most disappointing. Fayemi has blindfolded Muslims in Ekiti state. Muslims are not part of his government. Ekiti State executive is not truly representative. It is undemocratic. It is a sham. The disappointment is even more painful because Governor Fayemi had been touted as a very liberal Christian. But see what he has done to us.

“Even in Ondo state where the percentage of Muslims is lower, they were given four commissioners. That is what Governor Akeredolu did for Muslims in Ondo. He gave them four out of fourteen and that is why the Muslims are not making any noise there. Justice is the soul of peace.

“With Dr. Wahab Adegbenro in the Ministry of Health, Rashid Badmus in Natural Resources, Alhaji Imam Olurimisi in Culture and Tourism and Taofiq Abdul Salaam in Works, Ondo Muslims look at the Muslim commissioners and say, ‘We are well-represented’.

“But see what Fayemi has done to us. Only Alhaji Ayodele Jinadu is a Muslim out of his fourteen commissioners. We reject this in Allah’s Mighty Name. It could have been different if the Muslims had not said anything earlier but they did. They asked for proportionate representation but this is what Fayemi gave them: an empty pot of porridge. Ekiti Muslims do not deserve this humiliation. It is a betrayal in view of the undiluted support they gave Fayemi during the elections.

“If this is a snub, there is always another day. If it is an act of impunity, we all know that power is transient and even the high and mighty will need the poor and weak somewhere along the line. We are used to powerless conscience subjugating conscienceless power. What we are not used to is powerless conscience getting away with it. We will remember this if Fayemi seeks higher office in future. Our message is not for Ekiti alone. Nor is it for the South West. Only the deep can call to the deep. It is a wakeup call to Muslims to restrategize and they will do just that.

“Alhaja Maryam Ogunlade is the only Muslim member on the list of EKSLGSC. Alhaja Ogunlade was once the Ameerah (chairperson) of the Federation of Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) in Ekiti State. She deserves the position.

“But while we may not object to the EKSLGSC list, we keenly await the list of members and chairmen of other boards and agencies. We are interested in knowing how many of them will be chaired by Muslims. There should be no pretensions about it. Muslims have been marginalized in the appointments made so far by Fayemi. They therefore deserve lofty positions in remaining appointments.

“Fayemi is a Christian, he picked a Christian as deputy governor, a Christian as Chief of Staff, a Christian as Secretary to the State Government, 13 Christians out of 14 commisioners have now been nominated. The body language is very clear. Muslims do not matter to him. Fayemi has wittingly excommunicated participatory democracy from Ekiti State.

“MURIC charges Muslims in Ekiti State to tighten their seat belts. The struggle ahead is not only political but intellectual. They must go into politics in large number and with diversification. Enough is enough. Their continuous marginalization already speaks volumes.

“On a last note, we express the deep disappointment felt by Muslims, not only in Ekiti State but also in the South West and in Nigeria as a whole over Fayemi’s lopsided list. A thick air of betrayal has enveloped Islamdom. We urge Muslims in the state to restrategize. As for Governor Fayemi, we caution him against marring his hitherto good records in Christian-Muslim relations. His latest lopsided list is a potent threat to participatory democracy. He may still have a slim chance to redress the injustice”.
