Daniel 9:25-27New International Version (NIV)

25 “Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One,[a] the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’[c] In the middle of the ‘seven’[d] he will put an end to sacrifice and offering[/b]. And at the temple[e] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.[f]”[g]

Please, I need your comment on the scriptures Below:

Daniel 9:26-27New King James Version (NKJV)

26 “And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.”

There is a direct correlation between this statement and how it relate to us and why the Bible says that our sins are forgiven when Jesus Paid for the sin of..........

Hebrews 7:9,10 KJV
And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.

10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him

Hebrews 7:9,10 NIV
One might even say that Levi, who collects the tenth, paid the tenth through Abraham,
10
because when Melchizedek met Abraham, Levi was still in the body of his ancestor.

Does the above made sense to you as to why and how the sin of Adam came to affect us and why it has to be the sin of Adam that has to be obliterated for us to be free?

If it is making sense to you, address the issue starting from the other post.

Peace.
Christianity EtcRe: Jesus did not die for our sins and neither was he our substitute by truthislight:
To answer this question, the first question anyone that wants to do so should answer is, whose sin did Jesus pay for?

If you say our sins as in the sin we committed, then you must answer and tell us the sin a new burn baby committed?
Is the new born baby's sin coming into the world?

Hence, when we said that Christ died for our sins, a sin that no son of Adam can pay for his brother, what was the Bible talking about?

Was those animal sacrifice really able to get the forgiveness of this particular sin?

Actually, unlike what frosbel is thinking, those animals and flour/wheat did not enable forgiveness of this sin, if it does, why was a yearly sin offering an ongoing activity?

The Sacrifice that was used to cover the whole nation for a year was a Bull. Why? Even though it was just for a year, but why for every body? This Bull sacrifice for every Body cannot be replaced with wheat, and it was for all Israelites, but temporary.

What most of those sacrifices did was gloss/cover the imperfection temporary to keep the relationship with Israel going till the messiah comes. That this particular sin was not dealt with by those sacrifices is obvious in this activities being continues.

1. So, which sin did Jesus paid for?

2. why was Animal sacrifices incapable to obliterate it?

3. what is the relationship between Adam and Jesus?

4. Are there no scriptures that pointed to Jesus as the one that would obliterate this sin in the OT scriptures?

Peace.

Hey brother!

Longest time. This one wey you call me like this, you wan give me big assignment be this o....lol.

Anyway, we, as students of the word have to find an explanation to scriptures flying around in the thread. Its a lots of work to be done. I have seen and read scriptures quoted by Frosbel but how do we explain scriptures like:

New Living Translation
I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said.
1 Corinthians 15:3

Hebrews 9:28
so also Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await Him.

It's so busy for me because I work 2 jobs and I'm try hard to find time to come here and explain things in details. However, I'll see what I will do and go over the thread from beginning.
Ok o.

At least, you see fit that answers should be given unlike Oladegbu that only specialize in ridiculing any one that does not agree with him.

frosbel2:
So my question is simple if God requires blood to forgive our SINs, why was he able to forgive sins without BLOOD in the ancient days up to the arrival of Jesus?

Consider the following bible verses;

"If, however, they cannot afford two doves or two young pigeons, they are to bring as an offering for their sin a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour for a sin offering. They must not put olive oil or incense on it because it is a sin offering " - Leviticus 5:11

We see that God accepted flour as a sin offering in this verse, no blood required - why?

"I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats......Stop bringing meaningless offerings!...even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood!......Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong " - Isaiah 1:11-17

Here God is tired of all the vague, fake and meaningless offerings, he wants REPENTANCE and then he will forgive, case closed. NO BLOOD required.

"Come now, let us settle the matter," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool" - Isaiah 1:18

God forgives as long as we stop doing wrong and repent from your evil ways, again NO BLOOD SACRIFICE require, just plain repentance.

"I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you." - Isaiah 44:22

Here again, God forgives, NO BLOOD required.

Read Jonah 3 where God did not destroy Nineveh because the people repented. I can quote much more bible verses.

So answer my questions

1. Why does God need a man to forgive sins
2. Assuming God became a man, why did he become a man to forgive sins when he had been forgiving the sins of thousands prior to this period.
3. If we need the blood of Jesus to be redeemed and saved, where does that leave the thousands of righteousness ones who died before Jesus appeared
4. Why did it take over 1,500 years for the news about Jesus to reach sub-Saharan African if it was that important?

I need answers
The above four questions sure deserves answers.

Come on @Goshen360

"Parents must not be put to death for the sins of their children, nor children for the sins of their parents. Those deserving to die must be put to death for their own crimes." - Deuteronomy 24:16

"In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge. But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge" - Jeremiah 31:29-30

" So Moses went back to the Lord and said, “Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold. But now, please forgive their sin—but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written.” The Lord replied to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my book. Now go, lead the people to the place I spoke of, and my angel will go before you. However, when the time comes for me to punish, I will punish them for their sin.” - Exodus 32:31-34

No man can by any means redeem his brother Or give to God a ransom for him -Psalm 49:7

In the light of the scriptures above , God has consistently all over the bible said that NO MAN can die for the sins of another MAN. so how come many of us believe that Jesus died for our sins, is this not massively CONTRADICTORY ??
The truth is, the above are rational questions that if one does not get the answers because of the billions of man made irrational doctrines in Christiandom, one is free to ask. People are rather getting confuse than getting answers as is obvious in this thread thus far.

I wish that answers are provided rationally from the bible without threat by the sort of Oladegbu of this world.

Jude 4
4 My reason is that certain men have slipped in among you who were long ago appointed to this judgment by the Scriptures; they are ungodly men who turn the undeserved kindness of our God into an excuse for brazen conduct and who prove false to our only owner and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Jude 4
King James Version

4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
..............................................

The Key word there is that one's action can undo, destroy, cancel the grace he ones has by engaging in Lasciviousness.

Lasciviousness means Lewd or sexual promiscuousness.

Illicit Sex.

If the above is true, how then can it be said that with grace one cannot sin or loose it?

It shows that those having grace will suffer damnation due to what the individual does.

Hi,

John 1: 1,3 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."
There is God's authority to "heal" or "not heal" a person's sickness regardless of his/her faith. God knows best....His perfect will.

Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God to them that are called according to His purpose."
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

I could give more scripture verses, but I stop at those three/four for now. I don't even know if Bishop Long is actually dying of cancer or not. What I do know is that no one is exempt from the consequences of a sin-ravaged world..whether he/she did something to cause the sickness or whether he/she did not.
Yes...sin is a beast..but beyond that beast is hope for the future for those who give their lives to Jesus..(even if death may have to occur).

He's been battling with cancer . We should stop gossip and insinuations over people's lives
MuttleyLaff:
Kaposi sarcoma (KS) is a cancer that develops from the cells that line lymph or blood vessels. It was once an uncommon cancer that mainly affected older men of Mediterranean, Eastern European, or Middle Eastern ancestry, organ transplant patients, or young men in Africa. But in the past few decades, most KS cases in the United States have been linked to HIV infection in men who have sex with men. These cases are called epidemic KS (or AIDS-related KS).

KS is related to a second viral infection. This virus is called human herpesvirus 8 ( HHV-8 ) also known as Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV). HHV-8 does not seem to cause disease in most healthy people. The HHV-8 virus is found in saliva, which may be one of the ways it is passed to others. In the United States, infection with HHV-8 is common among men who have sex with men, but it can also be shared between men and women.

In most cases, epidemic KS causes dark purplish or brownish spots (called lesions) on the skin or in the mouth. KS may also affect the lymph nodes and other organs, such as the digestive tract, lungs, liver, and spleen.

When they are first diagnosed, some people with HIV and KS have no other symptoms, especially if their only lesions are on the skin. But some – even those with no skin lesions – can have other symptoms, such as swollen lymph nodes, unexplained fever, or weight loss. Over time, epidemic KS spreads throughout the body. If KS involves a lot of the lung or intestine, it can be fatal.

To learn more about this type of cancer, see our document Kaposi Sarcoma.

Faith is not based on the outcome, but rather on God's ability. Just because a person exercises faith in God to do something specific, doesn't mean that God will deliver him/her in the very way that the person is praying & believing in faith for. That's why Christians pray, "if it is your will Lord". Yes..it's definitely God's will that all humans will "prosper & be in good health" however we live in a sin-ravaged world..& oftentimes "bad" things happen to "good" people. No one is immune from the results of sin.
Only God can answer a prayer in His perfect will...
I want to see scriptural backing that faith healing being successful or not depends on God.

In Christianity you are saved by grace through faith . As part of the elect it is impossible for you to be damned because God has predestined that it be so.

Good behaviour is not paramount to salvation, just Faith in Jesus , his death and resurrection.

So keep sinning, right up to the grave and Jesus will forgive you no matter how cruel and evil , no matter how depraved and immoral, and no matter how filthy and wicked you are. Its not about behaviour remember, its about faith in the finished work of the cross.

Therefore , all non-Christian well behaved people are going to be damned for ever because they had no faith in Jesus , to hell with their good behaviour who cares anyway.

How convenient Christianity is I would say.
That would amount to self deceit based on what the Bible says:

Faith without works is dead.

James 2;26
26 Indeed, just as the body without spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

James 2:24
24 You see that a man is to be declared righteous by works and not by faith alone.

Those having such believes like you stated are merely deceiving themselves.

Okay, before I proceed to explain what I mean by inerrant , can you kindly confirm which scriptures Apostle Paul was referring to when he made the following comment :
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness "- 2 Timothy 3:16
The Bible writers that makes up the 66 books are All Jews/Israelites cause Salvation originate with the Jews.

Some parts of the Bible is made up of history, like Chronicles, Acts of the Apostles, history of the life of Jesus.

Those are not necessarily a teaching by the writers though its contents contained lessons to learn from.

like the history of the life of Jesus by many writers presented from diverse angles has lots of lessons and instructions.

The parts that has to do with teachings, Yahweh's mouth piece, this were penned down by anointed individuals:

Anointed kings, Prophets, Priests, Judges, Apostles of Christ. All Jews, certified mouth piece. not random people.

Writers of history are all not following the strict criterion of being Yahweh's mouth piece.

That two reported statement seems to vary to you may be as a lack of details on your part or Scribal error.

Most of the Writings of the new testament are quotation from the OT, some are prophecy from OT explained.

Books from gentiles that are not part of the 66 is not my concern.

If someone expect reported history to be inspired, it is the persons cup of weed, but the truth is that they were honest men for they reported history of their nations being defeated severally. even of their own failures.

such honesty is not common among circular writers of history of their own nations. No historian of a nation likes recording the humiliating details of their nations defeat.

Such honesty of Bible writers is uncommon.

With such honesty, perceived discrepancies are mostly due to copyist error.

Most human actions always gets resolved over time. An example being the discovery of the dead Sea scrolls that did marvelous corrections and clarifications.

Every book red by a decernning reader must be red with context.

The following is from Hamlet, a play by William Shakespeare in which he puts into the mouth of a character called Polonius these words of advice. Polonius is talking to his son Laertes who is travelling abroad. What he tells him is also applicable to all young men who travel abroad till this day.

Look thou character. Give thy thoughts no tongue, 545
Nor any unproportion'd thought his act.
Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar:
Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
Grapple them unto thy soul with hoops of steel;
But do not dull thy palm with entertainment 550
Of each new-hatch'd, unfledg'd comrade. Beware
Of entrance to a quarrel; but being in,
Bear't that th' opposed may beware of thee.
Give every man thine ear, but few thy voice;
Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgment. 555
Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,
But not express'd in fancy; rich, not gaudy;
For the apparel oft proclaims the man,
And they in France of the best rank and station
Are most select and generous, chief in that. 560
Neither a borrower nor a lender be;
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
This above all- to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day, 565
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell.

In case you are having difficulty with the english it can be translated as this:

Watch your character. it's not everything you think that you must say.
It is not everything you think you must act on.
Be friendly with everyone but not common. Those good friends you make
Hold them tight. But it is not every acquaintance that you'll become buddies with.
Try not to get into any fights, but once you find yourself in a fight, make such
an example of the person that no one will want to fight you again.

Listen to advice from everybody, but, you, advice only a few.
Cut your coat according to your size. Don't be flashy in clothes.
People will judge you by your clothes. Especially french people.
Don't borrow money and don't lend. borrowed money often disappears
along with the friehdship.
Be true to yourself.

There is nothing divine inspiration here. This is just the common sense acquired with age. Yet it is applicable till today.

Se you get my meaning.

Paul's advise may be useful but that doesn't make it of divine authority.
It is your words against that of Peter's.

The words of Shakespeare are not contained in the Writings of the Apostles to followers of Christ hence is not obligatory to me as a Christian.

Shakespeare's writing may be obligatory to play write and broad way cast, but not Christians.

You see, it makes more sense why Christians writing is for Christians and play write Writings are for play writes.

So, let Christians follow the Writings of Christ followers. Paul was a follower of Christ? No?

PastorAIO:
First point. I don't think Peter wrote that letter called 2Peter. That is not really important but if you want to go into it as a separate issue then start by reading the whole of that chapter that you quoted. It is basically about the return of Jesus. Then return to verse 3 and read:

scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4 They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”

Then ask yourself who were these fathers that had fallen asleep. remember that Peter died in 64AD about 30 years after christ. St. James the head of the church in Jerusalem is said to have died in 62AD. Who were the fathers that had died leaving the christians open to mockery that instead of Jesus returning things are continuing as normal and people are dying off.

But to continue with the main point:

'According to the wisdom given to him' has nothing to do with divine inspiration. Have you too not been given wisdom? Does everybody not act according to the wisdom that is given to them?

Paul wrote letters according to his own understanding (according to the wisdom given to him).
1. My own translation says "Fore Fathers fell asleep".

That you want the so called Fathers to be Christ disciples that just died then is your choice.

2. The apostles of Christ are reposited with the responsibility to teach the congregations. Paul was an Apostle hence has every right to teach and was a teacher.

3. Am not an Apostle of Christ and am not a repository of that mandate to feed all Christians as Christ Apostles were.

Like I had said before, and am saying it again, it is your words against that of Peter.

It doesn't make any difference whether you want to deny Peter as the writer or not.

mine was to show you the reason for my faith.

I red very clearly what Peter said regarding the writing of Paul and the wisdom that was given him.

Am very Ok with what the scriptures says as in what Peter said.

Thank you though.

If I say, 'I haven't heard from TruthisLight, but I think He is waiting for the second coming of Mohammed, and I certainly think he would agree with me.' There is no way you can take that to mean that I authoritatively know that Truthislight is wait for the return of Mohammad.
That's your words against Peter's.

PastorAIO:
Leaving aside the question of authenticity in the letters of paul, I don't believe that when Paul was writing his various letters that he thought that he was writing scriptures. You write letters. I write letters. I write letters admonishing and advising people. So do many people write such letters.

To have the Holy Spirit and to write letters does not make the letter a special divine scripture from God.
Peter said that his letters were special Devine letters given to him.
