The entire student of Ondo school of nursing Akure which was recently affiliated with University of Medical sciences Ondo embarked on a peaceful protest on the 12th of February 2019
The protest took place in the school premises where the students locked the school tutors and other staffs outside the school compound.
Placards indicating the reason for the agitation were displayed by the students.
According to the students, the problem that let to the Aluta started August 2018 when the management of university of Medical sciences Ondo, the management of ondo state school of nursing, the Ondo state director of nursing service, the state commissioner for health, Mr Governor and other important stake holders in nursing profession met to discuss about the affiliation.
According to the messages gotten from reliable sources, the students of Ondo state school of nursing were promised BNSC(degree) instead of RN(Diploma) because they will be absorbed into the University system. The students were glad and they embraced this development not knowing that everything was planned just to scam them of their infrastructures and resources.
The students said immediately the affiliation took effect, life became tough for them.A larger percentage of their tutors were moved to University of Medical sciences Ondo thereby neglecting the students of the absorbed school. They said presently they only have 6 tutors to take all the 17 courses they offer.
The most painful part of the story is that this school(ondo state school of nursing) was given another name that does not even in any way go with the name of the school that absorbed them
The school was named (institute of professional nursing and midwifery education) which is not recognized anywhere.

They said they want to know where they belong since the University ain't treating them like they've been absorbed and their former school has also been scrapped
They are also demanding for the BNSC promised by the authorities in charge of the affiliation
