SUCCESS STORY OF CG ABDULLAHI GANA MUHAMMADU AT NSCDC


The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) under the astute leadership of CG Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has been up to task in fulfilling its mandate of providing measures against threat and any form of attack or disaster against the nation and its citizenry.


When President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu as  Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, many security analyst applauded the President's decision. Today, many Nigerians would attest to the fact that the NSCDC has been repositioned going by its numerous feats. 


The Gana-led administration adopted the simple  strategy of boosting the morale of the Corps by ensuring prompt payment of salaries and allowances while normalising promotions in the corps. Before the coming of Gana, promotions took years but Gana normalised it .


With the growth of technology, criminals have become  sophisticated. The Abdullahi Gana led administration trained over 40,000 staff in modern warfare and crime prevention.  They were trained home and abroad with the best of state of the art gadgets. This has gone a long way to reduce kidnapping, banditry and vandalisation of state properties that are key factors to the survival of our economy. 


To give the service the best of hands, NSCDC under CG Muhammadu has ensured the men and officers of the Corp attend regulars courses which now made NSCDC an excellent model.


The NSCDC boss values and place much importance on the lives and welfare of all officers. Staff are not let vulnerable as they have been given good insurance cover. This has boost the the morale of staff and has made service delivery very efficient, thereby attracting many organisations to continue to partner with NSCDC. 


It is also a known fact that officers that lose their lives or got injured in the course of duty are properly taken care of. Their families are not allowed to bear the expenses or burden as the service speedily takes responsibility. 


Though not a revenue generating organisation, the efficiency and professional services provided by NSDC has been topnotch. One major function of NSDC is registration of Private Guard and Companies. It has of recent generated N800 million from issuing of applications and licenses to private companies. This was largely due to the efforts and foresight of the CG Gana led administration to reposition the agency for self efficiency. 


Agriculture is the largest employer of Nigerians. But of recent, it has become insecure for farmers. CG Muhammadu in his wisdom with the loyalty of officers and men of the corps established Agro Ranger Corps to provide physical security to farmers as well as the protection of allied investment in the country to align with President Buhari's vision on food sufficiency for all Nigerians. Farmers have applauded the initiative. 


It is worthy to note that the Corps has performed credibly in fighting insurgency. Over 5000 personnel have been sent to Northeast to help curb insurgency. Also, the Corps has secured more than 300 conviction with over 500 awaiting trial. Not long ago, the Corps signed MOU with many organisations including Nigeria Communications Commission to guard telecom facilities. The Gana- led administration also upgraded the IT section of Private Guards unit ,this has made renewal of licenses easy as it can now be done from any part of the country. 


NSCDC is now in all the 774 local government in the country, this has greatly helped in fighting crimes. Many of the Corps hiccups such as lack of offices and residential apartments for officers and men of the corps has been largely resolved.Office structures have been built for some state commands, there are new Offices in Niger, Delta, Kebbi, Ekiti, Ebonyi, Anambra, Sokoto ,Ogun Ondo states among others .


The corps headquarters in Abuja is not left behind as it is having many sprawling buildings, a 12 number of  2 bedroom flats, four storey building of 2 bedroom flats, Also,a storey building of 12 number of classrooms. 


No wonder, CG Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu was listed among 20 people to be honoured by the United Nations at the United Nations Public Service Awards in New York. He also bagged an award in Geneva as the Knight of the International Civil Defence Organisation award.


With all modesty, one can say that CG Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has repositioned the corps and placed it among the best in the security circle. He has put the Corps on path excellence. Like all men of purpose, he is still working diligently to ensure that NSCDC surpass  his  successes and above all continue to live up to its mandate!.

With the 9th National Assemby already in place, and elected members presently engaged in different legislative engagements, Nigerians are waiting with bathed breath to see what they would do differently to put the nation on the path of development. Expectations are quite high, especially on issues that directly affect ordinary Nigerians.

Though the hallowed chamber of the House of Representatives is home to some of Nigeria's brightest and prodigously sound minds, but one legislator truly stands out even among his contemporaries. He is our own Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago, member, Representing Chanchanga Federal Constituency, Niger State. A courageous lawmaker, patriotic Nigerian, astute politician and a highly experienced parliamentarian.

Hon. Bago is a man of several firsts. He is the first to be ever re-elected in Chanchanga Federal Constituency as House of Representatives member since Nigeria's return to constitutional democracy in 1991. He was first elected in 2011. Like the political tactician that he's become, he has even surpassed the expectations or limits set by others in his engagements.

Even though Hon. Bago contested for the speaker of House of Representatives and lost to the incumbent, Hon. Femi Gbajagbiamila, he has since put all the pre and post election events behind him, and he's ready for serious legislative business.

It is a statement of fact that Hon. Bago had a good outing in the election, ran an issue-based campaign which was based on equity and fairness, as he insisted, North Central deserved the Speakership due to massive supports and votes garnered by All Progressive Comgrss from the north central.

Hon. Bago in the spirit of sportsmanship accepted the outcome of the election and promised to work hand in hand with Speaker Gbajagbiamila in the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians.

Today, one can boldly say that Hon. Bago unarguably is one of the most popular politicians in Nigeria. He is a young Nigerian in his early forties, though young at heart but full of wisdom, energetic, compassionate and dedicated to the welfare of the masses.

As the former Chairman, House Committee on Maritime, he, along with the management of Maritime institutions in Nigeria introduced some wide reaching decisions that have improved and reposition maritime services in Nigeria.

As a youth himself, his strong base is the youth population. It is no secret that he is admired by alot of youths in his Constituency, state and of recent Nigeria at large. He has several projects to his name, for which posterity will surely remember him for. A legacy that will stand the test of time is his contributions to the development of his Constituency.

He attaches much premium to his relationship with others, regardless of their class. Bago treats whoever he meets with respect and love, and does not underestimate anyone irrespective of social status ,age ,religion or ethnic affiliations. This is simply why he is called Mr. Relatable by his colleagues, friends and political associates .

Hon.Bago started his political career on a great note as his first venture into politics he got elected as a member of house of representatives under the platform of the defunct CPC ,since then ,Hon Bago has not looked back as he has continued to wax stronger and making meaningful impacts in the lives of his people .


Nigeria as a country has witnessed alot of young leaders who have enmeshed their hands in dirty deals, hands full of gabbage. In this regards, Hon Bago stands out, as he has no gabbage in his hands.

He is a young leader with no dirty past. He is the type of leader Nigeria needs in her quest for development. It is my belief and prayers that in no distant future Nigerians would hand Hon. Bago a bigger responsibility for his transparency, pedigree and excellent human relations.

In his outing as an aspirant for the post of speaker ,House of Representatives, he made it known that his aspiration was not about him, but his people, this has always been the style of Hon. Bago. The people's interest comes first in whatever he does.

There are those who felt Bago not emerging as speaker is a big loss ,I stand to tell those people that Hon .Bago as a patriotic Nigerian is ready to serve the country in any capacity. He has already given his full support to the leadership of Hon. Gbajagbiamila, together they shall offer services that will take Nigeria to the next level in all areas of our national life.




When asked to show a man with large heart ,generous, intelligent, I search no further as I readily point to Hon .Bago .

SPEAKERSHIP :IN THE SPIRIT OF FAIRNESS TO THE NORTH CENTRAL

In a democratic setting , the majority always have their ways , no doubt the ones with the highest numbers carried the day .


Democracy is a game of number but in some cases , some measures are introduced to give some sets of people a sense of belonging. 


In a third word country like Nigeria Zoning has to been introduced for peace and unity to reign because of nature of the country with different tribes , religion and geopolitical zones , the country has two major religion, hundreds of ethnic groups living together. 


As the people of Nigeria  look foward to the inauguration of the next elected leaders, the leadership of the national has become an issue that must be tackle with utmost sincerity, a level playing ground to give each zone a sense of belonging, it would be recalled that the emergence national assembly leaders of the eighth assembly is still fresh in the memory of Nigerians. 


The leadership of the ruling party handpicked some people to led the house , this didn't go down well with some of the legislators and this led to a kind of revolt or conspiracy by some members of the APC legislators conniving with opposition members to elect leaders for the national assembly. 


As the day for the inauguration of new leaders of national assembly approaches , the ruling APC is still making the same mistake by handpicking individuals to led the ninth assembly instead of them zoning it to geopolitical zones. 


President Muhammadu Buhari  is from northwest Nigeria , the zone that gave the APC the highest votes , Vice President Osinbanjo is from Southwest, a zone that came fourth in term of votes for the APC , the party is still insisting of zoning the speaker of the House of Representative to the southwest despite the interest and cries from the people of North Central that gave APC the third highest votes. 


The Northeast that got APC the second highest votes has been rewarded with Senate President leaving the north central with nothing to show for their commitments and goals of the APC.


As much as the party decision need to be respected, it should also be noted that the decision and wishes of the people is more important as there is no party without the people. So it is my believe ,APC should respect the wishes of the people of North Central ,respecting the wishes of the people is more important to heeding to the wishes of individuals. 


Traditional leaders, political leaders, youth organisations from the north central have all indicated their wishes that the ninth speaker of House of Representatives should come from the zone , it is my hope and prayers that the leadership of the APC would listen to the wishes of these people in order not to jeopardise the chances of the party in the zone .


One name that has continue to be on the lips of the people for the speaker of house of representatives is Hon Umar Mohammed Bago, the member , representing Chanchanga Federal Constituency.


Hon .Bago a 45 years old refined legislator is from Niger State , he is a third timer , he is presently, Chairman House committee on Maritime Administration and Education. 


Hon Bago has been in the forefront championing the cause of North Central ,Hon .Bago has given the people of the zone a voice to be heard .He is a loyal party man , he has contributed immensely to the growth of APC .He also contributed largely to the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari, he donated more than one hundred vehicles for the campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari. 


Hon .Bago has many bills and motions to his name , he is credited to be one of the best legislators when it come to legislative duties.


His works in the committees has been adjudged as one of the best .He is a refined democrat per excellence, a believer in human capacity development, a goal getter.


Hon. Bago has huge support from his collegueus, this has been greatly influenced by his humility, oratory skills and administrative acumen. 


Many online poll have tipped Hon.Bago has the favourite among his collegueus , And history has shown, no one impose in the national assembly has successfully ended a tenure , the only ones that have successfully ended their tenures are the ones that the legislators elected themselves.


As the days of the eighth assembly comes to an end , it is the hope of the people of North Central that APC will do the right thing, will make sure equity comes to play and zone the speaker to the north central.

In North Central Zone, we have vibrant returning House of Representative members that have the capacity and leadership quality to led the House of Representatives.
