subsidywise18: Well, the subsidy removal happened recently..as in this year, so expecting benefits is too too much
As for the increases in tarrifs, it was written into the laws from the word go. The problem with the increases was that it was kept below the cost of production. You can increase tarrifs, but so long as you are still keeping it below the cost of production, nothing is going to happen (Even with the increase, depending on the number of hours of power supply to where you live, you pay less or more for power)
Government removing subsidy this year had to do with rising cost of crude, which led to rising cost of gas...and since most of our power supply is gas run. That's the truth. Buhari would love to subsidise power, so as not to get voted out, but reality has caught up with him. So subsidy goes. (It should have gone since 2013)
By the way, my argument is not to excuse APC, or PDP but to make the point that if the power sector is allowed to charge the tarrifs that make it make a profit that can enable them to pay for improvements...just like the GSM guys were ......we would get 24 hour power. Also, we all have to pay our bills, not 66% of us. You know nothing about power sector. Just stuff your opinion back into your pocket. Lazy yooot |

Stop disgracing yourself, because someone said so doesn't mean it is true. You should have conduct some restart to know fact of the matter.
As it stands today government has been subsidising Disco through many interventions such as SDG and REA where transformers are being provided.
Until recently, government have been paying for excess power generation that are lost via transmission and for others that are being rejected by discos.
Power failure is just incompetence and greediness on the part of the owners of different discos. Also the centralisation of power generation which is being decentralised by National assembly through initiated bill would make states take responsibility of the power they generate and distribute within their control
The discos are only capitalising on the privatisation agreement that makes them fleece Nigerians of their hard earned money without providing the electricity.
A serious government would have no choice than to revoke their licence and damn the consequence that may arise from litigation |
Politics › Re: Power Generation Crashes By 903MW, National Grid Crisis Persists by Ttalk: 8:55am On Apr 20, 2022 |
subsidywise18: LOL...there is.
In 2019, Moghalu stated that power cost N53 per kwh, at which time we were paying N20-30 per kwh market price
PwC issued a report on liquidity in the power sector in 2018 where they put the actual tarrif then at N83
Even then, there is a shortfall because a significant percentage of people are not paying for power.
Also, the subsidy removal that the government did was recent. Meaning it has always been there
I know you are a PDP man, and I agree APC has been seriously incompetent. But the truth is, the problem in the power sector has been that PDP and APC governments and Nigerians have not let it make the money it needs to pay for improvements...because Nigerians are poor, or something. Just hear yourself, Moghalu says kwh cost 53naira? At what capacity did he say that, as energy expert or as minister for power. Your ignorance is very complex |

Tinubu and Osinbajo are in the race to gag buhari to choose any of them, they are not at any war and there is nothing like betrayal.
Any win for any of them is a win for Tinubu and the south west.
Come June 1st Buhari will choose his anointed one over Tinubu and Osinbajo is not as if they are no qualify or will not do better but for national unity and interest they will both be disappointed.
And should buhari support any of them to get the ticket it will show that not only that the president is a good example of bad leadership but a verify idiot. Today is Easter Monday, your mood suppose dey better |

U see why it will be hard for any of we Igbos to get any party's presidential Ticket? Amechi would have fought gallantly to win at least 5seats in d Rivers Assembly and from there keep about 3 from Bayelsa and team up with Akpabio to have up to 5 in Akwa-ibom.
When u know u will be contesting foe president and those factors will work in your favour, u should have been so active in ur state. D delegates u are scampering for from South West were brought up and sustained by someone which is Tinubu. So I'm sure u won't expect harvest from a farm u didn't cultivate. I like Amechi but I'm a realist. This is an unbiased opinion with deep sense of understanding of the politics of the Primary. A lot don't even no that SE/SS have the least numbers of delegates, so when they talk about consensus they have forgotten that such can only come from a region with high numbers of delegates |

Toks2008: I will not stop reiterating that only an Osinbajo ticket will guaratee victory for APC.
If APC is interested in winning just the primaries they should make Tinubu the flagbearer but if they are interested in winning the general election they should present osinbajo cos he is the only candidate that can guarantee victory for APC.
BUhari knows this and APC leaders know this but the zombies supporting Tinubu are so blind to the fact that there is voters apathy for Tinubu. Nigerians dont want him.
Who in his right senses will support a man who was indicted of money laundering and drug dealing so much that he forfeited $460,000?
A man so enmeshed in corruption and he does it with so much impunity.
A man who has unexplained wealth which is his trade mark and he even has the guts to have a Bullion van in his house on election day.
A man who made his family a strong income generating machine in Lagos thereby making Lagos his empire.
He is not interested in building Nigeria but only wants to fulfill a selfish ambition.
A man who plans to recruit 50 million Nigeria youths into the army to feed them. Cassava and Agbado.
A totally clueless arrogant fellow. I quite agree with you, Osinbajo is the only candidate that would make Nigerians vote APC any other candidate would just be a walk over for lazy PDP |

The other option is for him getting approval from the president. Tinubu seems to be a shield for APC candidate such as Osinbajo or anyone APC presents, something has to be done if APC is to retain the president and such thing must be intelligently crafted. I think the big picture is what APC can do to convincingly win the presidency since the electoral law is going to drastically reduced rigging and voters manipulations that calls for all these confusions that are staged to confused the populace |

Politics › Re: Revealed: Tinubu and Buhari are behind Osinbajo's Declaration by Ttalk(op): 12:26pm On Apr 16, 2022 |
ChoCho54: Misleading headline.
But the question nobody is asking is, what really happened between osunbande and his age long master, associate, benefactor and godfather?
At what point did they fall out? Over what? Over the presidency or over political control?
How come nobody noticed any crack in their relationship?
How long has a Cold war been going on? We know some Tinubus core loyalist who fell out with him, but when did he and his son osunbande start their quarrel?
How come even the prying eyes of the press never knew when osunbande moved his polling unit to Ogun state?
Osunbande must have felt very stiffled with undue indulgence and blind loyalty to tinubu. Aregbesola did mention during his fight with Tinubu that they had been according tinubu so many underserved praises and loyalty, still he was insatiable.
Osunbande must have seen how he'll go into obscurity after his tenure if he didn't aspire higher.
Still, there could have been a discussion between the two to agree.
Osunbande must not be president after being VP and Tinubu must not be president considering his age and visible health status. Still both are constitutionally qualified to contest.
But why couldn't the two so called omoluabis agree on a position that would have saved Both this growing campaign of calumny??
Why why why?
At what point did they fall out? The heading is intentional and not misleading as you think. You have asked some valid questions over there. At least if there had been any crack between Tinubu and Osinbajo, the transfer of voting polling unit to Ogun state would have alerted Tinubu's camp of the intention therefore raise the question of such moves. But there was nothing like that even while the rumour of Osinbajo was loud, Tinubu camp didn't make any noise. Was a plan to distract PDP? |

Politics › Revealed: Tinubu and Buhari are behind Osinbajo's Declaration by Ttalk(op): 6:24am On Apr 16, 2022*. Modified: 10:40am On Apr 16, 2022 |
The political atmosphere has been agitated since the day Osinbajo notify the Nigerian public of his intention run for the presidency in 2023.
While many are very excited about his declaration as they see him as the right candidate that is needed at this crucial time in Nigeria's history, with his intelligence, commitment, and dedication to his duty as Vice President who understands Nigeria"s problems, others do not see it that way.
Osinbajo's declaration to them is an affront and a disloyal attitude and betrayal to Tinubu his Godfather who is also eyeing becoming the president of this country.
However, Osinbajo's intelligence has never been in doubt as no one has ever accused him of inordinate ambition for power. If this is the case, what prompted Osinbajo to declare?
Who advised him or encouraged him to take such a move?
There are two people I think could make Osinbajo succumb to such encouragement.
It is either Tinubu or Buhari, who do you think? |
