That is not true. I have flown with many airlines and I have NEVER seen where emergency seat trays are sealed. If that was the case airplane manufacturers would not bother to put trays there if they will end up being sealed. The only restrictions to seating in an emergency exit seat is you cannot put your bags under the seat in front of you and you are expected to be ready to help evacate the plane in an emergency that's why they stress that people seating in the exit row read the safety guidelines. And how do other airlines operate without taping do not use on trays located on exit seats? That is a ridiculous excuse I'm sorry. I've never seen any airline prevent you from using the tray because it is an emergency exit seat. Owoloku1: |

While I agree many people in the countries you listed will be affected, over time they will migrate to cheaper android phones very easily. You mentioned a rival company coming in but ignored the fact developers are no longer willing to develop apps for smaller operating systems. We had this issue even with BB10 where many developers refused to develop apps for the system because their market share is just too small. Android, iOS and Windows make up about 95% of market share now so no incentive to develop apps for smaller ecosystems. Without apps I don't see any rival OS taking market share. BabaAlabi: |
Has nothing to do with what they think of Asia or Africa. WhatsApp makes 95% of its revenue from Android, iOS and the new windows systems so it makes very good business sense. It's a matter of when not if those smaller OS will stop being supported even by the companies who developed them e.g. BlackBerry has started making Android phones and will probably stop supporting BlackBerry systems at some point. If you look at attached pic, you will see that the market share of the non top 3 system have been falling and is very very small now so they will not b losing much. greenpasture:

I don't think Facebook wants to kill WhatsApp. They own it after spending so much so doesn't make sense to kill a successful app. It's more a case of focusing on the main operating systems going forward as it isn't efficient developing apps for fringe ecosystems anymore. Heck even BlackBerry has pretty much abandoned it's BB10 OS for Android. Whilst it's painful as I still use and love BB10 I think it makes business sense. They are just following the trend of consolidation amongst ecosystems. Muafrika2: |
Yes it is fairly expensive as they use immigration lawyers etc, but another reason companies are reluctant to file for H1 visa aside the cost is it is very hard to get due to demand outstripping the number of visas available each year. There is a quota of 65k + 20k for those with advanced US degrees, and for the few years there have been over 150k applications within a few days of opening. Companies are reluctant to spend money on lawyers etc when it balls down to a lottery. warriboy21: |
Yes it is very hard, but it is not because of demand, but more due to the poor administration and the process which is unnecessarily long. Same with getting a new or renewing a Nigerian passport abroad, it can be a frustrating experience sometimes. Destined2win: |
Sacking 70% of your senior staff is a sign the bank is in trouble and the cuts will filter down to lower level staff soon. issac08: |
According to their 2014 annual report Ecobank Nigeria had 74 senior staff at AGM, DGM and GM level, so sacking 50 is 70% of senior staff. That is a HUGE sign of distress. Also there are probably plans for junior staff to be laid off soon. yunisaumaru:
