Hahaha I thought this was about your friend. Afam4eva: |
Please remove Abram from that list lol, he made his wealth by allying with the communist party in Russia and was able to buy state enterprises at very cheap prices. You can say he was lucky and knew the right people at the right time. Freelanswer: |
Someone who owns a business also has a limit on his income. Your income is limited to how much profit your business makes, and successful business owners will pay themselves a salary from the business not just take money anyhow so even as a business owner you may still end up getting paid monthly. Business owners also face a lot of risk and tons of businesses fail everyday. A simple policy change in Nigeria can kill a business overnight e,g. BDC with the CBN cutting them off. taurus21: |
Yes some people can be rich and wealthy through employment.. When we say salary are we restricting this to those at junior levels who only earn small amounts or are we including those who rise up through the years and earn significant amounts? We have people like Segun Agbaje of GTBank who was an employee all his life and is doing very well. Same with IBTC CEO and many others. The new Google CEO Sundar Pichai was recently paid $199m so yes people can get rich as employees. Are you saying people who join companies like Goldman Sachs and work up to be partners are not rich enough? yes they may not be billionaires but remember not everyone aims to be a billionaire so we should stop using that as a threshold for success. This also applies to doctors who work up to be renowned specialists in their field or people who become partners at firms like Mckinsey or work up to very very senior levels at companies like Shell where they are paid in stock options. You can also become wealthy as an employee if you are fortunate to work for a company before it goes public and have the opportunity to buy or receive shares aka Facebook, google employees and many others. We also need to consider the fact that while you can be rich as a business owner, you also have very high chance of not making it. Majority of the businesses which start especially in countries like Nigeria close down within a few years as there is a lot more risk. We need to recognize and accept that there is a place for everyone, those who are better at starting businesses and those who are better at growing businesses. They require different skill sets hence why the likes of Mark Zuckerberg aligned with the likes of Sheryl Sandberg to help build Facebook into the multi billion dollar company it is today. Same with Microsoft with Bill Gates partnering with Steve Balmer and many others. It is the reason why Richard Branson is good at developing ideas but not running them. Someone like Seun of nairaland has done well building such a valuable website, but it may take partnering with his version of Steve Balmer to take nairaland to the next level where it makes money not just for him, but for the nation through **** employing many Nigerians and even listing on the NSE. Facebook alone has created a lot of millionaire employees following it's IPO a few years ago so let us stop stigmatizing employees and making everyone run after business irrespective of if they have the skillset or not. One thing I also notice is most people shouting entrepreneurship do so solely from a money perspective, but the likes of Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg have a passion for making an impact and finding solution rather than just be driven by quick money. |
Columbian but yeah he bad gan. Kenzico: |
Putin is just trying to divert attention from russia's issues with the usual Propaganda. Why is it now Russia was accused of killing civilians in Syria and Putin was accused of ordering litvenyenko in London, oh and putin was recently accused of being corrupt by America that Russia suddenly find out Bill Gates engineered Zika. The economic situation in Russia is dire and he needs to give his people anti western Propaganda to distract them. monakii: |
Why does she have to wake at 4am ![]() Na she kill Jesus? Some people are early risers and peform best early in the day while some are late risers and perform best as the day goes on. I don't see what is wrong with waking at 6am. Does she get to work late because she over sleeps? vybzkartel: |
I don't know what culture you are talking about but is generally accepted that it is polite to greet before asking your questions. US, UK etc you would at least say hello first. davidif: |
While I agree the chinese guy could have been more polite before asking, we Nigerians are a lot worse. We all have stories of rude experiences as customers in this same Nigeria haven't we? All these Chinese lebanese etc guys learnt this when they see how we treat ourselves. Someone has small money and he acts like a demi god, cadets in uniform treating citizens like crap, government officials treating the citizens they should be serving like vermin. As they say charity begins at home. |
How are you feeling? Ah I'm feeling hurting oh. Lol |
Definitely. No matter how many lawyers they hire, they cannot spend $3.9bn lol repogirl: |
He can be hired as an adviser, lobbyist and also negotiator, but you are right he will not represent in court. He can still play a significant role without representing in court. I believe MTN already have 3 SANs who will be the face of the case in court. HungerBAD: |
And what have you based that on? In terms of business and political transactions French is no longer more influential than Mandarin or Spanish. It may have been at some point but no longer. French used to be the most influential language in the workld and lost ground to english and has been losing to Mandarin with the rise of China and others. I do agree that there are benefits to being multi lingual but I have issue with the government forcing everyone to learn French. make it mandatory for students to study a local and international language and give them the choice to chose what they study e.g. there are many students who will end up conducting business with China in the future and Mandarin will make more sense than French for them. asEdeyHOT: |
Really? French more important than mandarin? how many top countries speck French aside France? Spanish is spoken by Latin american countries as well as a major language in the US. The number of speakers is a strong indication of the importance of the language. asEdeyHOT: |

Where did you get that from? The most common language by number of people are Mandarin, Spanish, English, Arabic and Hindi. French comes in a distant 18th. While I see the benefit in being multi lingual, I don't understand why it has to be French. Why not make it mandatory for our students to study a second international language and give them the choice. We are not a former French colony who have lots of dealings with France, and French is not our official language so why does it have to be french? dannywest01: |
No the UK government has not taken children away for spanking. They have taken children away for abuse. When you beat children in a harmful way leaving marks all over their body. You are allowed to Spank and punish but there is a difference between spanking and beating anyhow. The reason the government step in is to avoid the many cases of children who have been caused harm or even death aka baby P. aiksneffects: |
Firstly not beating a child does not mean that child will be spoilt. I know many children who were not beaten but who turn out well and vice versa, and many who were beaten in Nigeria and still ended up bad. The point is you can Spank and punish but not the Nigerian way of just hitting and flogging anyhow with belt or whatever while raining curses and abuses. Also there is an emphasis on communication with your child. Secondly you say the level of moral decadence in white countries. Are you telling me countries like Nigeria have higher moral values? No we don't. We pretend to, and like to claim we do but no we don't. Go to our universities and see what is going on? Is it this same country where bosses sleep with female workers everyday and no consequence? Same country where every single sector has been destroyed by selfish materialistic corruption? Same country where tribalism and culture overrides common sense and doing good for the nation? Same country where churches who should look after the poor have become businesses to take money from both the rich and needy? No we are not morally better. When they say do no hit in western countries they are not saying do not correct or punish. I know many white families that are very strict without beating same as those who are not, and this applies to Nigeria as well. What they are saying is use other methods to punish and correct your child. Eromsboy: |
