Chief at least use sense while you post lies, the picture says City Colleges of Chicago and you claim he was hosted by Chicago State University, are they the same? Also because he was hosted by City Colleges of Chicago does not mean he attended the school, that even could be for a number of reasons. You need to read up and educate yourself on how the process works. This bulletin is updated every month and shows what dates they are working on i.e. applications submitted before/on that date so you can get an idea how long before they will start working on applications submitted March this year. You're looking about 5-6 year wait if not married (F1). If married like your sister she will be F3 category, and they are working on applications submitted November 2008 so 14 year wait. TBH she should just forget about it or accept it's for her children. On a positive note, you're not from India, China or Philippines who have up to 25 year wait for F3. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2023/visa-bulletin-for-november-2022.html rsunky2: |
Derived citizenship applies if he was born outside the US but his parents were US citizens at birth then the child will automatically derive US citizenship from birth. https://mh.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/derivative-u-s-citizenship-for-adults/#:~:text=Applicants%2018%20years%20old%20and,a%20first%2Dtime%20U.S.%20passport. You may be referring to acquisition of citizenship when the parent becomes a citizen, the child has to be under 18 years old. https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-h-chapter-4#:~:text=According%20to%20INA%20320%2C%20a,including%20an%20adoptive%20parent)%3B The only option I see is for the father to apply when he becomes a citizen but as already stated the wait time is long. He will fall under F2B and they are currently working on application submitted September 2015 so about 7 year wait. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2023/visa-bulletin-for-november-2022.html rinzaugustine: |
Depends on what your goals are, but yes top schools open up more doors to get good jobs with higher chance of getting sponsored for a work visa. I'll give you an example, I know someone doing MBA with placement at Northampton, if you compare to say an MBA from LBS to take an extreme case, the student from LBS will have employers visiting on campus and have opportunity to better jobs while the person I know at Northampton cannot even get a placement. They end up doing jobs that are not directly related to their degree to take advantage of post study worker and hopefully they can get a job that sponsors within the 2 years. Very different outcomes. Having said that also very different input, the entry requirements are higher at the top ranked schools and if you look on nairaland people are always looking for schools that don't ask for GMAT etc., there's a price to pay for that. The top ranked schools are also more expensive but given the average Nigerian is just trying to japa they cannot afford those schools hence have to settle for the lower ranked cheaper schools with a bit relaxed entry requirements. Another way to identify such schools is to search LinkedIn for their graduates and you can get a sense of where their graduates end up. You will find some of these lower ranked schools will have a lot of student profiles rather than graduates working good jobs. Another characteristic is when the school or class has more international students than local students so the class is populated with students from India, China, Nigeria etc, there's a reason why. Update: To add again the courses people do also matters. You will notice it's mostly international students who do these new courses like MSc in project management, I have worked as a project and program manager and I think these courses are just money grabs, you don't need to get an expensive MSc in project management to be a good project manager at all, and many of them don't open the doors students expect. You're better off going to a better university to study a different course relevant to the industry/area you're interested in and in get the PMP qualification as you gain experience. I think many of these courses are gimmicky courses targeted at international students from India, Nigeria etc. who are desperate to leave their countries. Munamoqel: |
A big part of it is the school choice, we usually target the schools that focus on international students with relatively easier entry requirements as the goal is to get a visa to leave Nigeria. If you could get the data you will find that majority if Nigerian international students congregate around the lower ranked schools e.g. University if West of Scotland in this case is not exactly a well know school. https://www.theguardian.com/education/ng-interactive/2022/sep/24/the-guardian-university-guide-2023-the-rankings As can be seen here the University is 119 out of 121 Universities in the UK, the average British citizens aims for higher ranked universities so the lower ranked ones focus on desperate international students who need a way to japa. Another reason is there is less obsession on degrees and certificates compared to Nigeria. There are jobs that require degrees but also other career choices that don't require degrees. Munamoqel: |
It will interesting to see how many of them are able to get relevant jobs in the UK. [quote author=nlfpmod post=118520213]Majority of the graduands of Master of Science Project Management from University of the West of Scotland are Nigerians. There's nothing to believe in the guys story, he makes $1270 and spends $1,000 on food, what is he eating to spend $1k a month on? And the only proof he can show is the end o a receipt for $75, doesn't even show us what he bought for $75 ![]() int0x80: |

You ae part of the reason why Nigeria is such a shithole and our leaders are not held accountable for anything. Zee0007: |
Keep deceiving yourself. Have you heard Sunak speak at all? He does not speak like an Indian at all. oz4real83: |
What are you buying that you are spending $1k on food a month ?What country/city do you live in and how many people in your household? Things are ridiculously expensive. Went for groceries yesterday and the amount I had to pay on food tax is ridiculous. My takehome from daily hustle is only a little above $1270 and bills and food take over $1000 monthly |
Please explain something to me, why are Nigerian presidential aspirants travelling abroad to France, UK etc. to talk to foreign media ![]() [quote author=ochejoseph post=117672619]Nigeria needs an energetic president, Nigeria needs a respected leader, we cannot afford a leader whose past is tainted with drugs. After 5 marathon events in Kaduna from Friday to Monday, Atiku arrived Paris today and is currently meeting with foreign jounarlists. Atiku is mentally and physically fit to lead Nigeria to the promise land. With Atiku, Nigeria will take its rightful place among the committee of Nations. May God Bless Nigeria!!! Does it work for them I agree with you about rejecting western religion but replacing it with worshiping cows and crocodiles is probably even worse. They will literally kill you if you accidently hit a cow with your car on the road lol.Corridon: |
Please stop all this sentimental post, we abuse everything every time. Look at the graph, in just one year the number of dependents has increased multiple folds and it is very very clear it's now a way to migrate our families rather than study. Look at how many Chinese students and then how many dependents, its because the average Chinese student is younger and being sponsored by their parents back in China to study while the average Nigerian international student is now a fully grown adult married with children applying for student visa to migrate his family out of Nigeria, big difference. Things are so bad we now have an accepted term called "japa". We have a lot of work to do. ppogba: |
Lets compare like for like, what jobs will pay the $40k you reference in the US and what jobs are you referring to in Nigeria where you will be able to save the amount you mentioned? The reason for my comment is you are looking at new immigrants who are hustling and trying to establish themselves to people in Nigeria who are already established and part of the system. You also ignore the fact that those immigrants now get access to better government services many of which are non existent in Nigeria so there is little need to save as much as we do in Nigeria. Not saying you still don't need to save but there is less need as there are safety nets in place. Also, earning power is significantly higher e.g. in the US when they are established and have better jobs, and their kids grow up in the system and skip the immigrant hustling stage and graduate with better paying jobs in the US. Example if their child gets a graduate job with e.g. Deloitte Consulting in the US they can start with $70k annual salary at age 23 or 24 which will grow quickly as they grow so don't limit your comparison to just new hustling immigrants trying to find their feet. Compare that to his mate graduating in Nigeria probably closer to age 30 due to strike upon strike upon strike, and how much will the graduate earn starting with Deloitte in Nigeria? Willy the pay growth be comparable to the graduate in the US? Another important point, Nigerians in Canada, the US etc. will be able to save more if they are not sending money back to Nigeria to support family or investments etc. We can all agree that there are significantly more Nigerians abroad sending money to support family members in Nigeria than vice versa. naijaboy99: |
I wouldn't call it high paying, care job is easier to qualify for and get because of demand but it's ok paying not high paying. Chizzyjforce: |
I agree you do the crime you do the time, but life imprisonment is too much for this crime. PerfectStranger: |
Haha keep lying to yourself. We will believe you when you get the visa and visit and show us how shit the US is. You cant even get the visa in the first place lol. We've asked you over and over how to move to Brazil and you can't tell us, he is probably illegal there lol. All he will say is go to the embassy and have money in your account. You claim the US is hated in Brazil yet they pour in every year illegally through the Mexico border lol. Keep decieving yourself. https://www.migrationpolicy.org/article/brazilian-immigrants-united-states walkbrazil4k: |
So when are you going to visit the US and show us how crap it is there with your own eyes? walkbrazil4k: |
You're not independent? I can understand the likes of Jamaica who still have the Queen as their head of state but Nigeria has everything it needs to be fully independent o I'm not sure what you're waiting for or expecting from King Charles. and btw I thin the likes of Jamaica should also use this opportunity to push for changes and stop having the Queen as their head of state, not sure what benefit it brings. Even the likes of Canada still has the Queen and now King as head of state. JASONjnr: |
They are different but yes it is worth visiting in it's own right. The monuments are beautiful and cover a lot of area. I remember going to take a picture of the Lincoln Memorial late at night because of how beautiful the statue of Lincoln is with the lights etc. There are Smithsonian Museums which are all free and interesting. https://www.si.edu/museums. I especially loved the Air & Space Museum. You can visit the US Congress and even the White House on tours. It all depends on what you're interested in. Our trip to DC was combined with a trip to NYC, and we took the train about 4 hours. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g28970-Activities-Washington_DC_District_of_Columbia.html You can also use DC as a stopping point to visit Virginia which has a lot of history, and Maryland. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g28941-Activities-Maryland.html ogatboy: |
Change ko change ni, the guy was literally being arrested for gun and drug possession and you claim he is changed. Even if he is changed you do NOT attack police officer carrying out an arrest, you deal with it through a lawyer. What was her plan? That when she slaps the officer he will say sorry ma I will release him? Shows how poor her reasoning and maturity is. She should be charged and punished for her actions but knowing NYC which is a democratic city they will probably end up paying her a few million dollars. Is that the type of person you went your daughter to bring home to you? Hanndye: |
He was, no he should not have died but pleas don't even start the narrative that he was some shining example for black people, he was not. The work that needs to be done in America is to reduce the amount of incidents requiring the police in the first place not just police don't do this or that. Hanndye: |
He was right, she's an immature entitled idiot. She has NO right whatsoever to put her hand on the officer, and for what? To defend a criminal? her family should be ashamed of her. Jennifer663: |
Chief stop deceiving yourself, we are the cause of our issues and situation. People are hungry and desperate to get out. If things worked in Nigeria even if western media says whatever they want the majority of Nigerians will experience a difference in the country but that is not the case. Blaming white people is a lay option and part of the reason why Africa will continue to be behind. We blame white people, we blame Chinese, we blame Turkish etc. yet we don't take the step to make our country better. Why are we obsessed and watching western news? Same reason we would rather focus on premier league and ignore our local league etc. and then you come and blame them, no you are creating the opportunity for them to use and abuse you so you are at fault. quentin06: |

What honorable thing did he do in the end? His speech made no sense at all. Even Usyk looked embarrassed for him. dawnomike: |
Let’s take it easy with the criticism, he fought better than the first fight and found a lot of success but Usyk is just so good. Sanchez01: |
He actually fought a good fight, those body shots were on point and he landed more combination punches than the first fight. He hurt Usyk bad in the 9th round but Usyk is just special and stepped it up round 10-12 to win. Aside Fury I don’t think any of the current heavyweight top guys can beat Usyk and even with Fury he has a chance but Fury is just so big and long. david22uu: |
I agree, I know someone who is doing an MBA in one of the lower ranked universities and they keep pushing them to go get placement but are not helping them to even connect with potential employers. They also ignore the fact that UK companies do not really have placement programs for MBAs so the students are chasing an illusion. 1 year placements are for undergraduate degree programs extending it to 4 years instead of 3 years, MBAs usually go for summer internships not 1 year placements, but they use the placement option to dangle the option of an additional year of working in the UK in addition to the 2 year post study worker. ednut1: |
USA is disturbing peace, but China is not? China's bullying of Taiwan and other countries in Asia for control of the South China Sea is not finding trouble?
