Dbestmax: Trust me bro...had it been it was the white woman that saw a Chinese baby....she wudnt react to that extent...bt jst because it was a black childI disagree with your comment. There Is a reason why you go through a thorough selection process to select a donor. No sugar quoting it, the company messed up and should be held to account. God forbid but if my wife and I had to go down the donor route we would pick a donor based on our preferences and most likely black as we are both black e.g Obama sperm . If they make a mistake and insemination her with sperm from a random guy from China town who donated sperm to pay his gambling debt, we would be very angry.Doesn't mean I hate Chinese or I am racist. Simple means we made a decision based on a number if factors eg race, genes, health, intelligence etc and now u have used a random sperm from God knows where. No sentiments here they bleeped up and must be held to account. |

milychocs:That got me laughing so hard. |
The level of ignorance displayed on nairaland amazes the hell out of me. So gullible. The only paper to carry this news was the vanguard. No one else and other nigerian media copying the vanguard article word for word, yet see the way nigerians are making stupid comments. As I've said the fact that you guys feel the new to always express your imagined greatness shows you are not a great as you think. It's all based on the fantasy of hope which is used by churches and political leaders to lead you on. Hope and prayer with no action The CDC provided the guidelines used by a Nigeria to treat Ebola and they were present same as they have been in Liberia and S Leone, yet a paper claims the CDC confirmed they are coming To learn from nigeria and no eyebrows raised. Why can't we find this information anywhere else on the internet? The crap that goes on in this so called giant of africa is ridiculous and the gullibility of the people profound |
lrguru: otondo, here is what Donald J. Trump said on his tweeter pageDonalt Trump is known to be anti-Obama. he hates everything about Obama and doesnt even believe Obama is American despite him relasing his birth certificate. I will not take what Trump says seriously. The US military have a very strong medical corps team and also the military is useful in mantaining order which the Liberan government has been strugling with. Also you forgot to mention that Trump has ben requesting for a ban of flights from all counties affected by Ebola which would have included Nigeria a fe wmonths ago. Also, he has faced lots of backlash from the American public over his tweets e.g. see below what he was saying abut Americans going to help in Liberia and S Leonne. Left to him America will close their borders and fold their amrs which thank God they haven't done becuase this is a global issue. "American magnate Donal Trump has sparked outrage after he publicly said doctors who are treating Ebola patients in Africa "must suffer consequences". Trump has been speaking about Ebola on Twitter since last weekend, when he slammed US leaders as "incompetent" for repatriating Americans who contract the virus while in Africa. In one of his most inflammatory tweets, Trump said: "The U.S. cannot allow EBOLA infected people back. People that go to far away places to help out are great – but must suffer the consequences!" He added: "They knew the risk when they went to Africa. They choose it freely." |
Further proof the story is a lie. The CDC are confident of handling the case. They have been providing updates by tweet of the steps taken so if this news is only on nigerian media then it is propaganda. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/sep/30/ebola-dallas-spreading-across-america [b]The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced on Tuesday evening that a patient undergoing treatment in the United States does, indeed, have the Ebola virus. Nearly two weeks ago, the traveler left Liberia, one of the West African countries at the center of the current Ebola outbreak, and flew back to Texas – asymptomatic at that point. This is key, because Ebola spreads when a person is exhibiting symptoms. At the time of that flight, the patient was not ill. And when the patient later reported to a hospital in Dallas, doctors there quickly suspected it was Ebola and put the patient into isolation. Those who came into contact since the patient’s arrival are being traced as a precaution and will be watched for symptoms for three weeks – the incubation period of the virus. Odds are good those contacts do not include you, and your odds of dying of Ebola in the US are lower than your chances of dying on a rollercoaster. |
360command: Show me proof US teams arriving nigeria on advice on curtail of Ebola? This news by our newspaper na lie.Thanks..bloody lie. Only Nigeria media is carrying the news You guys have perfected the art of diverting your attention from the ills of your society. Focusing on America and zmapp and ignoring the incompetence of your health minister. Whilst Nigeria contained ebola it was not because you were so good or special but because it came in via one person sawyer which was picked up quickly. |
This story sounds so dodgy. I can't see why America needs to study how Nigeria dealt with ebola as America provided the guidelines used by Nigeria to handle it. Also why only Nigerian media carrying the news? Forgive my being so pessimistic, but with all the false news released from the government and media over ebola last few months, I don't believe this. |
Killing the health workers who are trying to help due to ignorance. When Guinean government officials visited the village of Womme in the country’s southeast, they planned to educate people about Ebola and show them how to avoid it — in a region where many still believe the virus doesn’t exist. But it all went disastrously wrong. Villagers responded furiously, pelting the delegation with stones and beating the visitors with clubs, according to Guinean radio. The delegation, which included doctors and journalists, fled into the bush after the attack Tuesday http://www.latimes.com/world/africa/la-fg-attack-ebola-guinea-outreach-20140918-story.html |
To all the anti-American conspiracy theorists on this thread, it has been confirmed that there is no Zmapp available as it was used up treating people involved in working with Ebola victims in liberia and Sierra Leone so please stop all the sadistist remarks and focus on your government and hold them accountable for the deficicneies in the Nigerian society. The Nigerian governbment should be investing in Ebola vaccines and treatment becuase as long as S LEonne and Liberia still face the epidemic, we are not safe and it can always slip through again. All it takes is for one person to slip through the borders and interact with people. "The Ebola patient in Dallas will not be given ZMapp, the experimental drug used to treat several international aid workers and medical staff, including at least two Americans, because stocks have run out. ZMapp is one of the drugs that is being rushed into trials in the epidemic, along with other drugs that will need more safety data in animals and humans before they are administered to patients. There have been very few doses available and stocks have all been used up, but the San Diego-based company behind ZMapp is pressing ahead with the manufacture of more supplies. It is not an easy drug to make, however. It includes three man-made antibodies to the virus which are grown in tobacco leaves and take months to produce." http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/oct/01/first-ebola-patient-us-no-zmapp |
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/sep/30/ebola-dallas-spreading-across-america [b]The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced on Tuesday evening that a patient undergoing treatment in the United States does, indeed, have the Ebola virus. Odds are good those contacts do not include you, and your odds of dying of Ebola in the US are lower than your chances of dying on a rollercoaster. Ebola is already here in the United States. It’s existed in labs for decades, among researchers and experimental primates and other animals with no spread out into the open. And based on models of travel patterns published earlier this month, we already knew that an imported case of Ebola might make its way here. Hospitals across the country have been busy preparing, and there have been a few suspected cases that ended up testing negative, so we’ve already had test runs in Ohio, New York, California and other areas. We saw it coming. We have great infection control officers in our hospitals who have been watching the outbreak unfold from afar. Our hospitals are trained better than ever. Your cousin from Dallas is not going to turn your town into a scene from 28 Days Later. Of course, we’ve also brought medical workers home to the US for Ebola treatment, at Emory near CDC headquarters in Atlanta, and in Nebraska, where a physician was released on Thursday and is doing just fine, thanks. Despite the initial public outcry, no medical staff or other hospital workers have become ill after caring for these patients, and no one else in their communities has been put at risk. The Ebola virus is easily controlled with the prevention measures and healthcare infrastructure we have in developed countries like the US. Be concerned for those in the affected areas of West Africa and Central Africa, but, really: do not lose sleep about the potential for Ebola to spread across the US. It’s not going to. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/sep/30/ebola-dallas-spreading-across-america |
engineerd: hahahaha....the Nigerian government should ban all flights coming from the US with immediate effect.....LMAO.....5hit i shouldn't be laughing o!!!!And who will it affect the most? Who fills flights to and fro Nigeria? Isn't it nigerians? If they ban flights from America to Nigeria I don't think you will see too many americans crying aside the nigerians residing there. If they ban flights from Nigeria it will start with all the students travelling to resume school. Let's see how they will enjoy it after hussling for student visa for the past few months. |
Missy89: Wow!Thank you. I am really disappointed with the level of comments on this thread. Shows how selfish we are as a people. All we want is to take but never give. ... oh except in church in expectation of a miracle People on this thread screaming America didn't give zmapp are SELFISH. The fact that you think Nigeria with under 20 cases deserves the limited supply of zmapp over countries like Liberia with thousands of cases shows show self centered we are as a country. And I still agree with America's decision not to give Nigeria zmapp cus you do no deserve it. How do you think America will happily give the few serums of zmapp when they can see the way Nigeria squanders money. Money allocated for ebola they converts to money for cars. One thing you should know is as long as Liberia and S Leone continue to face an epidemic we are not out of the woods yet and I would expect as the giant of Africa to lend a helping hand not fold our hands and act like it doesn't concern us. All the us and uk citizens and other western countries who got infected were volunteering their help to care for the infected. How many Nigerians can say they have helped? It's only GDP u think makes you giant of africa. America are sending 3000 troops to help the worse affected areas cus they know as long as there is an epidemic the world isn't safe, but my dear Nigeria as usual folds her hands and looks on. And you see the sickening comments here. Shows you all truly deserve the leaders you have. Thieving lieing manipulating leaders. Minister of health standing up and lieing and making silly announcements. Anyway no matter what you say and zmapp or no zmapp the americans infected will get far better treatment that Nigeria could give and be fine. The nurse flown back to Britain is fine now so you guys can stop being so self centered with your comments. Is it the exclusion centers we want to start from, or the care, or the attention? Instead of spending money on building proper treatment centers not the shack of blocks you have in Lagos, you use the money for cars. Whilst I am happy the virus was contained in Nigeria ( in part thanks to help from abroad Us guide no mess and not the stupid nano silver and salt) if we had a worse epidemic we would not be able to handle it. |
justwise: Its interesting that in a country of about 150 million people you managed to count just few who made it legitimately without going abroad. How about the rest?Thank you. She mentioned Linda Ikeji, how many Nigerians also have blogs that are not going anywhere? Thousands if not millions. It annoys me when people use a small percentage of people to show Nigeria is better than anywhere else e.g. saying dangote didn't travel to make it. Does that mean we all come back or stay and we become as rich as dangote? If it was so how many dangotes have you produced? As some rightly said it all depends on your definition of "make it". I'm sorry but making it to the majority of nigerians is hammering money irrespective of where or how. Not all of us measure success by millions as money does not bring happiness or fulfilment. I know people who earn millions in banks in Nigeria who are unhappy stressed and unfulfilled. Leaving home 5am cus of traffic and getting home 11pm cus she has to stay so traffic clears. Generator noise every night with so much pollution. Just the general madness in Lagos is enough to make life hard for majority. As for immigration, someone rightly said the human race will always migrate. Since the 1980's over 200 million Chinese have migrated out of the country. Same with India etc so this is not specific to a Nigeria. In fact that is why you will see a China town in every major city in the world at least the west. Look at chicago, you have neighbourhoods such as Ukrainian village developed by Ukrainian migrants, little Italy by Italians, andersonville by the Swedish etc. In summary migration is a fact of life and the choice should be a personal one. I do agree with some of the OP points as travelling has taken the propotion of a fad, following the crowd and it can be very dangerous travelling abroad without proper plans or believing the road is paved with gold. This isn't helped by the desperation people face everyday. No job, no infrastructure etc unless you are one of the rich. But i will also say with proper planning, skills etc u have more opportunities abroad. |
Lucasbalo: Chicago, Illinois the best big city in US.Nice my dream city. I'm actually working in a transfer to Chicago fingers crossed. Is it ok to reach out to you when it works out for tips on settling down hopefully early next year |
[quote author=ttmacoy][/quote |
Lucasbalo: I get your points. I don't want to go into which country is better. Am just telling you that because I can easily transfer to work in any of our offices in Europe or Asia or even the Africa regional h/q in SA. The work visa is a formality that would be taken care of corporately. A lots of Eastern Europeans moving into Western Europe have stressed their economies. That's a down side for the EU.Fair points. I love both countries. Immigration is a dicey issue here and I don't think the conservatives have the answer but that's another story. How's life across the pond? Are you based in NY? |
CityNG: Stop it, you know damn well what my point was.Chief my post was in response to lucasbolo's post, and as I said uk, us passport even Canada are great and I will be happy with either, but I stand by my point that the UK and major European passports have added advantage of easy movement across borders within Europe to live be it for work, better life, weather or whatever reason. |
CityNG: Work is not the end of it all for seasoned folks. ![]() ![]() This isn't a UK is better than US point but just a Point on an advantage of the UK passport. They are both great passports. And no moving isn't all about work which is why you see people move to places like Spain, South of France etc for better quality of life and weather. Not exactly sure what your point is. |
Turbocharged: Thats no much difference between the man that is travelling with visa and the one travelling without. Either of them could be denied entry at the port of entyHahaha there is a big difference. Is it the unnecessary time spent applying for visa? I always got got it but it was a pain taking time to go submit, collect, gathering documents etc. Or is it the day my wife (then girlfriend) and I arrived Heathrow from holiday just before a flight from Ghana. Men see queue. My wife went through with British passport, collected our bags and was sleeping by the time I came out. A UK or us type passport gives great flexibility. I remember those days of we need you at a meeting in Frankfurt, oh yeah your passport, we need you to go to new York for a meeting with the project sponsorship yeah you need a visa. There is a big difference |
Lucasbalo: I have worked in the London office of my Hedge Fund company and believe me, will stay with my US office. When you say work do you mean for a few day? With a UK passport and assuming I worked for a consulting firm or a bank, I can travel to the us for meetings or to work on projects/deals less than 90 days and vice versa. For me to relocate to live and work in the states I will need a L1/L2 visa to transfer or H1 to join a new employer. Same with the us passport. You will need a UK work permit. My point was with the uk passport you can move live and work in any of the EU countries without a visa. This is not to say us passport isn't great. It is and comes with similar benefits for ease of travel. |
Another advantage of the UK passport and this applies to other European passports is not only can you visit 173 countries visa free, but you can also work visa free in major European countries unlike say the US passport where you need a work permit to the work in Germany or France |
I disagre with you here. Ivory Coast is doing what Nigeria should have done... proactively act to prevent infections rather than scrambling around when it came in. Ivory Coast has not recorded any ebola cases yet, s in this regard they are doing better than the Nigerian government. And if Nigeria is the giant of Africa, then they should show it by extending help to other struglling african countries same way the west are spending so much effort time and money on helping, volunteering, researching, testing to help Africa. All western citizens wh got infected got infected helping in Africa so Nigeria as giant of Africa should extend help and advice because lets face the fact whilst we have controlled the infection, we are still at risk as we cannot close our borders 100% forever so the more the virus spreads in Africa the more we are still at risk. The money alocated for Ebola should be spent on setting up better quarantine facilities, reasearching for cures etc rather than cars. Giant of Africa indeed. Kayraph: Take it or leave it, Nigeria still remains the giant of Africa. |
Such a selfish attitude. Obama should send troops to Nigeria with under 20 cases instead of countries with thousands of cases. Same way you were all shouting for zmapp. they had few serums and you feel it must come to Nigeria instead of other countries. Entitlement and me me me culture which is killing Nigeria. If Nigeria is indeed the giant of Africa, you should show it by helping the countries really suffering from this. the UK and USa are sending troops and conducting tests and reaserch to find a cure, and Nigerians are spending money allocated for Ebola on cars. rubbish. the British nurse who was cured has flown to America to donate blood for tests to help people. What are you doing to help other African countries? priscaoge: 2,400 people |
lrguru: Since this drug is not from a black man/ Nigeria, the americans won't call it pesticide....smh. Anyways I don't blame them, I blame our MOH who only believes that a Nigerian can never find any cure to any disease.Well when Nigerians stop trying to eat where they didn't sow and invest in research then they will be taken serious. Rise up and speak against your government spending the N1.9bn on cars instead of investing in Nigeria's ability to deal effectively with this and any future epidemics. Invest the money in science and research and stop begging around. A whole giant of Africa. |
lilprinze: Nice 1 I pray it works shame on US and their ZMAPP if they think we would come and kneel down and beg them for their ZMAPP God has proved them wrong to hell with their ZMAPP .Please stop reasoning like an illiterate. There were only about 12 or so vaccines of zmapp as opposed to 20000 of this vaccine, and if you read between the lines they are pretty much using Africans and Nigerians as guinea pigs to test the vaccine. Just stop all the anti American sentiment and focus on sorting out the epidemic. If not for thus same America you guys would be using nano silver which will probably cause more issues while not doing anything against ebola |
Lol @ UK is prone to pneumonia. Guess what you are trying to say is everywhere has it's risks (albeit some more than others), and mostly the tourist areas are usually safe e.g. even during thr crisi in Egypy over the past few years, the tourist areas like Sharm el Sheikh were unaffected. Phema: Kenya is prone to bomb blasts. |
And yet some will come and abuse America for not giving you vaccines. Why the jell will they give them to you with such silly decisions? Isn't this an opportunity to invest the money in research to develop our own vaccines for future occurrence or invest in proper seclusion units for infected people? Smh for Nigeria's future. One step forward 3 steps backwards. |
igwejay: Good day all,Hey, There a number of factors at play here such as the school you are attending for your mba and your pre mba experience. Since the cancellation of post study worker, you need a company to hire you and sponsor you for a work permit, and given its mostly bigger firms that can afford to sponsor to work permits, the entry requirements tend to be high especially for mba recruitment. As I said I don't know what school you are going to or your pre mba experience, but what I would advice is do your research and make sure you understand the recruitment cycle for the industry you arw interested in. What I mean is major sectors like banking, consulting etc start recruitment about September the year before so you would be applying now for entry next year September, and this is something many Nigerians don't get. Also depending on if your mba is 1 or 2 years, try to get internships for the summer as this plays a very important role for full time recruitment. As with the full time recruitment, internships open about September as well for next year summer so you would pretty much as you arrive. Anyway let me know if you have any other questions, ad know in the school you are going, your previous mba experience etc will enable me pricing more specific advice. I will not advice staying illegally after mba as you will not be able to get a job with your mba and will.end up doing menial jobs which I am sure isn't your aim with an mba. There is a strong anti immigration wave gripping Europe and the government has made it very difficult for illegals. |
Thank you Konquest, The Nigerian government has been very effective in deflecting attention to their deficiencies and gullible Nigerians have swallowed it hook and sinker insulting America and ignoring the failure of the Nigerian government. If Nigerians want anyone to vent their anger on, the Liberian government must be blamed as they knew his siter had died from Ebola and there was a chnce he was infected, but yet they allowed him to travel to Nigeria for a convention. Even though Sawyer was an American citizen, he was also a Libeian citizen working for the Liberian finnce ministry, so please tell me why America is to blame for the spread of Ebola? Even American's are thanking God Sawyer hadn't returned to America before he fell ill. |
annoymous: All of you yabbing USA, what would you have USA do? They said they don't have enough of the serum yet. Is it their fault we don't have any tangible research projects here. See how long malaria has been ravaging us, yet no ground breaking discovery from Nigeria since forever. Artemether we are using is from China abi where again sef. Our problem is not USA. Our problem is us. Let us stop all this displacement.Thank you. We just go on and on focusing on the wrong things and ignoring the inadequacy of our government. Nigerians are the problem with nigeria |
. If they make a mistake and insemination her with sperm from a random guy from China town who donated sperm to pay his gambling debt, we would be very angry.
