If my aim is to find daft Africans I can easily do it as well. Are you telling me all the people in the villages all over are well aware of everything going on around? Obviously America is massive and if you questions people in non major cities, they may not be aware of things outside America. Same applies to Nigeria as well. Go to villages and ask people such questions. Even go to secondary schools in lagos and you will be surprised at some of the responses you get bebe2: |
Thank you. Exactly what I was about to write. charix: |
It might not be a case of Nursing isn't a STEM course, but that they already have lots of people studying nursing and need more prople to study the other courses i.e. supply and demand. MsNas: |
You do know that religion and specifically Christianity has been the cause of many many wars over time right? Maybe not in recent times, but in times past. Still applies to Islam in recent times though with the violence metted out by Islamic extremists. zyzxx: |
While I agree with the general gist of what you are saying that we need to come together and solve our issues and develop, please get your facts right. We did NOT develop any vaccines except you are referring to nano silver which was an embarrassment for your health minister. And we eradicated ebola thanks to following the guidelines by the US diseases center. I am still peeved about this ebola issue because funds allocated for ebola was diverted to buying cars instead of investing in research. We are still in the same situation should ebola return while the western world are all working on diff vaccines and testing, Africans are focused on prayer and spending money on cars so I support America when they say Nigeria isn't a priority. As you said when we are pushed to the wall we will rally and do what needs to be done to develop the country though I must say it will be a very long hard road because the African mentality is so wrong. That needs tk.change. The attitude to maintainance needs to change, it's not all a out throwing money at problems and ignoring the underlying issues. BonaVIta: |
No they never pretended. If Jonathan sits there and thinks America will solve all his problems then he is a big fool. As the president of Nigeria it is his responsibility to solve Nigerians issues and not Obama or America. Also the writing has been on the wall ever since Obama refused to visit Nigeria but you delusional sitting there begging America. What is in it for them? What do you bring to the tabke aside begging help all the time? Even Kenya who can claim Obama as their son are not sitting waiting for America. How many times have you heard Kenya begging America for arms, for help etc. When el shebbab attacked the Kenyan president was giving a press conference within minutes on how they would tackle it. Boko garam kidnapped the girls Jonathan said it's a lie. Excellentmind: |
Does Nigeria show interest for no reason? Any country showing interest in any other country does so for a reason. China showing interest in Nigeria is not because they love you so don't deceive yourself. olu77: |
Please read. He retired after 30 years of service not 30 years ago. Besides it has always been clear except in Nigerians minds that you are not a priority to America or any western country to be honest except maybe China and Russia. I know it's hard to take but you guys don't bring much to the table aside from oil which as you know has list value due to over supply. What else does Nigeria have a competitive edge in? Nothing absolutely nothing. Oh aside commercial pastors Bsc: |
This has nothing to do with oil and everything to do with Nigerians taking responsibility for their problems. Nigeria has never been a top oil supplier to America so get your fact right. The bulk of oil to America comes from Canada and the Emirates etc. Nigeria is probably not top 10 so it's not oil. Take responsibility for your issues and stop waiting for America. The average American doesn't spend his day talking about Nigeria the way you guys go on an on about America. orbis: |
Thank you. African mentality sucks. Always waiting for others to do what needs to be done. Nigeria's problems are for Nigerians not Americans. There is no incentive for America to commit to Nigerian not especially how your government use blaming America to distract people attention from all the rubbish they do. Obama has made it clear Nigeria isn't a prior. Has he ever visited the giant of Africa? Didn't goodluck ask for an audience one time back and he refused? Instead of Nigeria to buckle up and fix their issue, they rather blame America and keep begging. I still can't get over the reaction on Nairaland when America didn't give zmapp. There were only 20 odd vaccines and Liberia etc had thousands of infected people, yet Nigerians in all their wisdom felt they deserved the vaccines. Greedy selfish bunch who would rather spend their time praying for miracles than working to fix their society. bushdoc9919: |
Good video, but couldn't help notice he seemed so out of place in the gym lol |
Hahahahaha this was so funny Flets: |
Yes that applies to the US not UK. And for the example income earned in the UK by an American citizen has to be declared but doesn't necessarily mean you have to pay tax as there is no double taxation up to a certain threshold amount. the US is one of the only few countries who tax their citizens abroad. The UK does not tax foreign earnings of its citizens. Besides the British passport to his career is worth more than the taxes he will pay as he has freedom to move across the European leagues. Billyonaire: |
Unless be quits international football, he has no choice but to play for super eagles as he has already represented Nigeria competitively hence by fifa rules he cannot represent England again even as a British citizen. The benefits of the passport will be his club career as he can easily move to other European leagues and also count as a home grown player die Chelsea. nduchucks: |
I don't see how being a British citizen impacts his tax. He pays same tax based on how much he earns and besides the passport enables him play for Chelsea as a home grown player due to the restrictions on number of foreign players and it also makes it easier for him to transfer to other European leagues without thinking of work permit. Billyonaire: |
Foreigners don't pay more tax than citizens in the UK. Tax is based on how much you earn in the UK irrespective of where you are from CaptainOjemba: |
Hahaha so true. You can easily get all the food there and besides the I see travelling as an opportunity to try and experience new things. coogar: |
What is the necessity? So if you cannot afford bride price don't marry because reason for marriage is bride price? I'm sorry but I don't believe in doing things simply because it is tradition or because that's how we have always done. Our forefathers did these things then for reasons, and many of these reasons are no longer valid especially with education and Christianity and we being more informed so requesting bride price simply for tradition doesn't cut it. Give me a sound simple logical reason for it. I want to believe we are a lot more educated and informed than our forefathers so I see no reason why we cannot make make logical decisions that works now. Remember that the only thing constant is change. safarigirl: |
I totally disagree with you. Yes I agree that Men should not abuse women who work, but I disagree that paying bride proce is the way to ensure men do not abuse women because they work. We all know of situations where after marriage a man becomes unbearable with the attitude of I paid your bride price. For a matured couple who understand each other and communicate effectively (which is something Nigerian men do not get) bride price is not what makes their marriage successful or brings mutual respect in the marriage, its their maturity, open communication and mutual respect so bride price is not relevant and should be scrapped not especially when people start using it to make outrageous demands. You mentioned dowry in India. Please read this article and come back and tell me dowry is right. In India even though its women who pay, its a form of slavery when outrageous demands are made on the woman and her family and they end up indebted to the grooms family which results in debt and violence. Dowry/Bride price is wrong, archaic and has nothing to do with respect or happiness in a marriage. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/india/10280802/Woman-killed-over-dowry-every-hour-in-India.html safarigirl: |
Personally I think bride price should be abolished. It is archaic and puts down women by suggesting the man is buying them. In my opinion a young man and woman get married to move forward together as one, not to impress the girls family with outrageous demands especially where he has to borrow for it. They then start their married life with debt just to please uncles and aunties in the village. in this situation, if they are unable to bring down the bride price cost, then I see no reason why she cannot help him as they both know what they are working towards. I see it more as pride and mentality when people say they cannot allow. How then do you explain in India where it is the woman who pays bride or should I say groom price to the man? Does that mean the man paying is right in Nigeria and wrong in India? No it's just culture and mentality holding people in bondage. |
Shale oil is a threat to conventional oil at the right prices, and the cost of extracting shale oil is expected to continue to fall with increasing development and improvement in the technology. Saudi Arabia is not suppressing prices in conjunction with America as shale oil is a competitor. Saudi did not reduce output because whilst that may stabilise oil prices a bit, it also means volume of oil sold falls hence there is still a fall in revenue. This is a win win situation for America as if oil prices goes up, shale picks up and America exports lot of oil, if oil prices falls, its cheaper for American consumer who are the second country that consumes oil after China. The money saved from lower il process is spent in other parts of the economy which is a boost. America unlike countries like Saudi and Nigeria only makes a very small percentage of government revenue from oil. Shale is all private companies so from a GDP and government revenue perspective, America is in a win win situation. fairheven: |
That's the mentality that has gotten the country where it is. Where there is clear separation between the church and common sense leadership. Where God will do it is the mantra ignoring the fact that God has given you all you need to succeed. Where a pastors prophesy is valued more than integrity, hardwork and honesty. Where instead of investing in science to eradicate diseases, we would rather spend the money in church and say God will do it. Nigeria has the highest number of churches per capita in the world, yet where are we with it all Over religious yet corrupt and evil. Andibot: |
While I share your sentiments, let's face the truth that oil is not evil. The people who squandered the oil wealth are the evil ones. Dubai used oil wealth to transform the country within 20 years. Norway used oil wealth to provide good standard of living for their citizens, but Nigeria it's all me me me everyone taking for himself and not thinking of others or the future, so oil is not evil, Nigerians who squandered the oil wealth are the evil ones. siraj1402: |
While Bill Gates is spending his money helping us eradicate polio, our wealthy are apendif their money lavishly to get on bella naija |
Isn't Nigeria the current figure head of OPEC who refused to reduce oil output? Propaganda. |
You do know training military is not all about just shooting weapons. It is more about military tactics, leadership and strategy irrespective of the weapons. PEREP: |
And what benefit do you bring to the US aside always begging for aid, zmapp, military support etc? Your oil which is the only thinkg Nigeria has was never a major supplier to the US so what do you bring to the table? ogb5: |
Thank you for common sense. We love to blame others and never take ownership. No wonder it is so easy for the corrupt ineffective leaders we have to lead gullible Nigeria since all they have to do is give Nigerians someone to blame e.g US, APC, Cameron. Why do Nigerians think the US owes them anything? We beg for everything and then act like we are entitled. Mcbussy: |
Listen to what you are saying. So ALL of Nigeria's weapons are being used to fight boko haram? Does this mean if another country invades Nigeria from the South we are finished? The fact is the military is so poorly equipped that they do not even have equipment for training of future forces. this is a serious situation because the future of the military is at stake even after we defeat boko haram given we have no equipment to train and develop our military further. Face up to your deficiencies and stop blaming the US. iv4fb: |
Very interesting piece, I will definitely be ordering the book for my young niece and even nephews because we have so many cases of older men abusing young boys. I know in Nigeria we like to stick our heads under the sand and pretend nothing bad happens but it's not only in the western world all these things happen. They happen everywhere because we have evil people all over the world so it I a important we are all enlightened and educated to protect our children. Saying God forbid alone will not work. |
