Someone has demanded 15m pay off from me in the past. Now, to the OP, the issue of pride is immature in the event that you decide to reject the 1M. Rejecting the 1m, if you must, has to be in a very very diplomatic way, so what ever might happen to that lady in the future, the husband and the entire family will not think you have a hand in it and you might suffer for something you know nothing about. And accepting cash reward has to also be done in a way that one will not think you are greedy and might jeopardize their union in future.
