Hope of an early resolution of the strike embarked on by the public universities’ lecturers rises as the Vice-President Namadi Sambo met with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities in Abuja on Thursday. The meeting held behind closed doors had in attendance the supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike and the Executive Secretary of National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie. The union was led by its National President, Dr. Nasir Faggae, and two former Presidents of ASUU; Dr. Dipo Fasina and Dr. Abdullahi Sule-Kano. Others at the meeting were the Vice-Chancellors of Bayero University Kano, Prof. Abdulrasheed Abubakar; Prof. Isaac Adewole of the University of Ibadan; and Prof. Muhammed Hamisu of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. It was however uncertain if yesterday’s discussion was fruitful as the two parties did not disclose the outcome of the meeting which lasted for two hours to journalists. Fagge, however, told State House Correspondents that the union would make its position known after the National Executive Council meeting. Wike assured Nigerians that students would soon return to school as government was ready to make sure all the contending issues were resolved as soon as possible. But a source at the meeting, who pleaded anonymity, however, told one of our correspondents that going by the new offers made by the Federal Government, the strike might be called off within the next two weeks. This, the source said, was because the Federal Government had agreed to inject fund to revitalize the university system. “The meeting went well, the vice-president made some new offers that were different from what was on ground before. For instance, the Federal Government had agreed to start the injection of revitalisation fund into the university system starting with N100bn this year and N150bn in 2014 and this will continue until the university system is solid enough to stand. The source, however, said that the ASUU team promised the vice-president that the union would make it decision on the strike known after its NEC meeting unconfirmed source said had been scheduled for Saturday. http://www.punchng.com/news/strike-may-end-soon-as-sambo-meets-ASUU/ |

Till today, our dear Mimiko has not said anything about it.... Politics and politicians...favour-seeking humans |

Antivirus92: they don't complain because they are living fine. Apart from lagos, anambra salary scheme is twice that of other sw states. Anambra is blessed in everything, human and natural. Only a fool complain in anambra. I don't want to touch the minimum wage thing because from what u wrote,it shows that u don't even know anything. Can Ʊ tell me wia Ʊ got ♈̲̣̣̥ō̶̲̥̅ϋ̲̣̣̥r statistics? I can say it boldly anywhere, all the south western states pay much more than anambra. I don't need to argue wit Ʊ cos Ʊ r unemployed. |
Antivirus92: who are those anambra civil servants complaining? Is it the same civil service that my father and mother are into? I fear u, u can go to any extent to display ur hatred for anambra and her people. They can't complain cos they have ŊΦ choice. Na dem wan work for their state. Anambra pays d least salary to their civil servant. Go aπϑ ask ♈̲̣̣̥ō̶̲̥̅ϋ̲̣̣̥r parent to tell Ʊ their salary structure aπϑ compare it with other state. Dis guy just dey talk as if na anambra dey collect d least allocation for naija... |
Antivirus92: look at this bush man. They posted u to anambra from that ur termite-hill state and ur reward to them is to bash anambra. How much do perm-secs and commissioners earn monthly in ur state?I can't blame Ʊ for saying thrash cos it's part of you. Ʊ wanna compare my state wit yours.....I know wat goes on in ♈̲̣̣̥ō̶̲̥̅ϋ̲̣̣̥r state's education sector. I think Ʊ need to get details aπϑ not just come here aπϑ write hearsay. you need to ask d teachers in ♈̲̣̣̥ō̶̲̥̅ϋ̲̣̣̥r state how much dey collect, most of them are willing to port to other states, most especially d southwestern states.. What Ʊ don't know, Ʊ don't know at all |
Dis ur governor must be a clown. He has since been a governor for close to 8 years but didnt employ teachers. I served in Anambra, onitsha precisely, nd i visited 14 local governments out of d 21 local governments in d state. D education sector there lacks personnel - very few teachers. My first school there had 14 teachers for more dan 300 students. I changed to another local government which is an urban area hoping to see a change, but alas, dey school has 39 teachers (inclusive of d principal nd 5 vice principals) wit student population of 2,031. I pity d teachers dia cos dia salary is just too meagre compared to other states. D same governor who now wants to employ 5,000 teachers makes use of corpers to make up for the teaching staff, paying a teacher (HND holder, level 7) 38000 per month which equals to 7 corpers state allowance (5800 per month). D corpers in my ppa were more than the teaching staff. I just pray he employs dem on time cos dia secondary school is lacking personnel. |
I am pissed off at the moment. This GNLD people are a bunch of unserious people. Just today only, i have received 3 text messages for test at different venues all because i have refused to honour their invitation for test. I receive at least a test invite from just one of them using different phone numbers to send text to me. Abeg, make una stop to dey send message to me, my message memory don full...na by force? |
Anyone wit description from ikorodu to d venue |
If you have any info abt d company, kindly reply |
