usibengate: Is so quite unfortunate that some frivolous Nigerians who dont know the millitary might and assaulted nature of the Nigerian army. I should use this medium 2 educate some fools consciouseness, that the nigerian army has never lost any war and has virtually undergone all peacekeeping in africa and beyond. With the scintilating and meticulous agility of a Nigerian soldier, it is an aberration and only a nitwit will say they depend on the American army to carryout a successful and a meritorious campaign against insulgency. It is nauseating with nostalgia when some African leaders and people just forget in a hurry how this Nigerian army has liberated, emacipate and set them free from their metal slavery in the hands of their rebel which i believe is a form of an exgratia. Nigerian press would not be exempted from this defamming, poppycock and fiddlestick writeup against their own country. NIGERIANS STANDUP AND WISEUP

Hi Shack, you should be able to run cs6 but that doesn't mean you'll enjoy it. You will most likely experience the same scratch disk issue. I suggest you upgrade your system.

princecollins: whenever am trying to open a new page on my photoshop it will display scratch disk full, i don't know how to get rid of it. Pls guys help out thanks
Sorry for the late reply but to answer your question, your scratch disk being full is just fancy talk for lack of space on your hard drive.
You see, photoshop uses a lot of RAM (more than the usual amount that comes with a regular system) and when it runs out of accessible RAM, it then starts to use up your hard drive as temporary memory. What you are experiencing is a situation where even your hard drive has run out of memory to allocate to Ps.

My suggestion, go to alaba and upgrade your RAM to at least 4gig, with a decent processor to match that as well.
Its fairly cheap here in the UK so I'm guessing it'll be even cheaper over there because of the chinese market influence.

On the real though, that is easier said than done, considering most of us are assholes. (myself included)
I say that 'cos I've got three sisters and they tell me about suspicions they have about their guys and being a player myself I can immediately tell what the guys are up to.

In truth, it takes two to tango. I think if you meet a babe that you know has had to change and improve herself a great deal because of you..you can't get better than that really. Ladies need to realise some guys can't change too so if you know you've tried too hard and dude won't change, might as well bail before 'while your market still dey sell'.

Art, Graphics & VideoRe: Solution To Printing Photoshop Designs by turl(m): 12:58am On Apr 14, 2013
YoxTheProf: First and foremost, there is no such thing as a ‘photoshop printing problem’. There are only uninformed/incompetent printers. So what’s the printer’s bone of contention? The answer is simple. Their ‘offset’ printing machines work with CMYK, not RGB

The three primary colours are Red, Green and Blue (RGB). A mixture of these 3 different colours in varying proportion will give rise to the millions of colours visible to the human eyes. RGB is the default mode for photoshop. However, offset printing machines use a mixture of a different combination of colours to generate the same millions of colours visible to the human eyes. That combination includes Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black(CMYK). SO THE SIMPLE PROBLEM IS THIS; Photoshop is not in the right mode for offset printing.

THE SOLUTION

1. As always, design freely in photoshop without bothering yourself about that incompetent printer

2. NEVER convert a text to raster. If you must carry out an FX(effect) on a text, ’convert to shape’ instead.

3. When you’re done with the design, save as ‘Photoshop EPS’. A dialog box will pop up. In the box, tick ‘Include vector data’.

4. Open coreldraw (or illustrator) and Import the EPS file. In coreldraw it automatically converts it to CMYK and preserves text as vector. PROBLEM NUMBER ONE SOLVED.

5. The design usually becomes dark and dull at this point so to rectify that, group the entire design, navigate to ‘Effects>Adjust>Tone Curve”. This works just like ‘curves’ in photoshop. Drag the upper right part of the diagonal line upwards and EUREKA! PROBLEM NUMBER TWO SOLVED. You can keep hitting on ‘preview’ as you manipulate the curve to monitor the effects it’s having on the design.

THINGS TO NOTE

1. Coreldraw might give an error when you try to import the file. No need to panic. Return to photophop and do the following.
(a)Any overly grunge font you used, delete it. You can retype it over your imported file in Coreldraw
(b)If you put a raster over a text or any other ’unrasterd’ shape, DELETE IT. [yea, yea… the blending mode made it sexy over the text but it’s not coreldraw worthy. SORRY!

2. Your printer MUST use digital separation. (All that story of “it’s expensive and the client won’t pay” is trash talk because when the print comes out as trash, the client will go gaga on you and you will either refund or redo it. It’s better not to gain than to lose. By the way, if you didn’t know, many people are willing to pay anything for satisfaction-satisfaction they’ve had difficulties getting in the first instance)

3. Printed copy will be a little bit dull compared to the photoshop design. [Except you intend to always view it directly under a football stadium’s flood light which should replicate the over brightness of your PC screen]

THE CONSPIRACY THEORY

That you can’t raster text is actually an unnecessary fear instilled in us by printers just to hide their own incompetence. You can actually raster all your text. YES YOU CAN!
TIFF is one of the most acceptable print file formats on the international scene and that is-can I say a higher form of raster? Something like a smart object. SO WHY SHOULD IT SUDDENLY BE A PROBLEM IN NIGERIA?

I experimented with some of my jobs at the press and here is my solution to rastered text;

1. YOU MUST USE DIGITAL SEPERATION. YOU MUST! YOU MUST!! YOU MUST!!!

2. Use thin fonts on plain backgrounds and bold fonts on solid background. That way, nothing smears and nothing has a halo

3. I BEG YOU! Use nothing short of the Kord printing machine.

Have a lovely photoshop print life. #OkBye.

http://yoxstudios.com/wp/?p=27#more-27
wow..guy that is slightly misinforming. you really don't have to go through all that to print CMYK.
First off, there is nothing wrong with printers printing in CMYK. That is the standard format everywhere in the world. Some printers that will print in RGB will only do so in small runs and not large batches like industrial scale.

Secondly, to save yourself all the headache, start working in CMYK from the beginning of the the job. (yes photoshop has CMYK [image > mode > CMYK/RGB/lab - whatever floats your boat]. ) not trying to rain on your parade though just saving people the stress.

So in conclusion, the ideal thing to do will be to open a new photoshop document and in the dialogue box that pops up, you set the colour mode to CMYK and print resolution to 300 dpi (this tells ps to concentrate more pixels per inch - if not your work will most likely come out blurry or worse, pixelated). Also set the dimensions to mm (millimeters) and make set at least 3 mm bleeds for the edges.

Gotta run now, bottom line is, you dont have to sacrifice your sweet ps effects by converting to vector. photoshop all day baby. hit me up if you have any questions and ill be more than happy to help.

sorry for the typos, no time to proofread.

Nice tutorial.
you clearly know your way round the interface. Few suggestions though, its always preferable to use non destructive methods to alter your images. for instance, instead of using the magic wand, use the selective colour option and a layer mask to tweak things..i find its cleaner and more intuitive. props to you though. tried doing a tutorial once..ran out of patience. Again, keep it up.

My CS3 isn't displaying colour when I create new layer. As a result using d brush too after didn't work 4 me. HELP!!!
your colour setting is probably set to greyscale.
go to image > mode > and switch from greyscale to rgb (if for web) or CMYK (for print).

let me know if that helped.

TravelRe: Immigrants To Pay Fee To Enter Britain by turl(m): 11:30pm On Mar 08, 2013
Krucifax: The U.K govt under Tory leadership is naturally now a “right” leaning govt. Since 2011 they have enacted Conservative Nationalist policies! It’s not only Immigrants that are suffering under David Cameron & Co even indigenous brits are suffering.

They have cut welfare(benefits) by £10billion
They have made thousands in the public sector unemployed (which dominos unto private sector)
They are promoting a withdrawal from ECHR (Human Rights EU version)
They are slashing Police stations, Fire Stations, Hospitals, Legal Aid, Employment Rights etc.
Some of the policies make economical sense but the approach has been draconian and too hard line.

My prediction is that the U.K is heading for the rocks and it’s inevitable. The U.K’s credit rating has been downgraded this year. The Pound has lost ground on foreign exchange and 100,000s of public sector cuts are still on the way. Added to this by next year thousands of Romanians and Bulgarians will be coming to the U.K to work and live legally, making the size of cake much smaller still!
Having said all the above though as much as i love Naija it is still many many times better than Nigeria. It’s the small things that you don’t notice that make the U.K great.

Employment (It’s harder these days with far fewer jobs and the money isn’t great and many people are not doing the jobs they schooled for but there is work!!! Nigeria’s employment and pay (when they pay) is a disgrace)

Free health service!!!(In the U.S without Insurance you are OYO . You even get charged if you are carried in an ambulance. As for Naija if the fake medicine and failed hospital generator don't kill you the medical negligence just might)

Security. (There is crime but no industrial scale kidnapping, tribal skirmishes, religious killings, boko haram, OPC, Bakassi Boys. You can go to most places at any time without fear!)

Political Stability. (No Buhari threatening blood shed,no northern leaders sponsoring terrorism)

Fantastic infrastructure. (In which century do you think Naija will have an underground tube system?)

24/7 Power. ( No comment on this one!I tire!)

Effective Judicial system. ( Recently Chris Huhne a “govt minister” resigned for lying about speeding and will be sentenced soon. In naija politicians steal millions of dollars and are “sometimes” harassed by EFCC for a few weeks before going back to their office for more looting)
couldn't have said it better myself
