patienz: .English is clearly not your forte. Read what I wrote again and you'll see that the one thing I said he was almost right about was that a brand encompasses both the look and perception of an organisation. Only difference is he completely wrote off the value of the visual appeal of a brand which is wrong and which was what I pointed out. Read what this guy said: willycrown: Unfortunately, the OP just like any average Nigerian does not know the meaning of branding. In a nutshell, your brand is simply how people perceive you and that covers everything from your logo, style down to your reputation as a business, your work ethic, quality of service and what not. I hope that makes sense now. |
timiluv: How do I cartoon a picture please help this rili toughits tricky, I dabbled in it some time ago and it didn't really interest me as I thought it would. That being said, My weapon of choice for cartooning a picture would be Illustrator and not photoshop. You can really zoom in and just vector away without being distracted by pixels. To answer your question though, I suggest you google it to get tutorials. I'd post a link to a good one I looked up back in the day but my post would probably get blocked. Let me know if you don't find anything decent, drop your mail and ill send the link. Hope I helped. |
hopeyemih: ..nd asap rocky was nt even on d f*cking list!which further goes to prove Banky's point regarding musicians and how they deal with fame and fortune. I really rate the guy. Him and eldee are some of the few naija entertainers I can picture jamming with on a level. Level headed with no heads up their arses. |
Don't claim credit for what you didn't do |
kcjazz: I understand you want to sell your graphic design skills but LOGO is not the most important part of a brand. For all I care Coca Cola the most popular brand in the world has changed its logo so many times. Your brand is your story. Have this beautiful logo and sew terrible shirts, customers won't come back for the logo they will come back for how good your shirt makes them feel.what an ignorant opinion. I feel sorry for creatives that have to work with people like you. Try copy anything looking half similar to the coca-cola logo and see how their lawyers bend you over and tear you a new one. I work with small start-ups here in the UK and the logo is a huge part of the development process. Everything is licensed and examined to the smallest detail. You won't fully appreciate the value of branding as a creative until you've worked in a corporate setting where you have to use specific colours (down to the exact hex values), font (some bodies like a bank in the UK called NatWest have their own specific font designed just for them), page layout design e.t.c Truth is, in Nigeria, Africa in general, design is hardly ever appreciated. Look at our govt. websites. Even popular blogs like linda ikeji - ugly user interfaces and a whole lot of other issues. Although I'll point out one thing this guy said that made sense. It's not just about the logo. If the logo looks good but your product is shite, it still won't go anywhere - and that is what branding is, it's the combination of your appearance and your reputation. Coca cola is respected because of both its visual and qualitative appeal. As a business, your brand should not and cannot be taken for granted, especially during it's early days when people are still getting to know you. |
Adeniyi A.:Lol not true. If you study a course that isn't marketable anywhere, you will starve! abroad or not. |
Dgoldenchild: Please how do i create photo animation or cartoon on photoshopHi Dgoldenchild, whilst some level of animation can be achieved with Ps, it isn't the best tool for what you want. Adobe After Effects would be the ideal weapon of choice. Although, stills can be built in Ps, Ae is a much more robust tool for creating animations. Hope I helped. Cheers. |
Rextab: Hello evryone,Did you read the topic? |
No way...except she's Toolz! ![]() |
a bit offtopic but this one girl I know calls my junk 'Tyson'. She also calls her bfs 'duracell'..poor guy. |
cowleg: please nairalanders, how many months can one learn graphic design and how much does the programme requires?Depends on how much time you're willing to dedicate to it really. A strong work ethic will have you understanding the basic concepts in about a week or two. 6 months should have you becoming a middle to pro user. Within a year of rigorous work, you should know the ins and outs of Ps |
Clegg is just trying to save face. Nobody takes that fool serious anymore. Lib. dems'll be obliterated in the next elections. adora4u1: Make dem reconsider o before Naija retaliate o!Let's face it, Nigeria can't exactly deal an equal blow so all that talk about retaliation is nonsense. Hell, even India pulls more weight in the UK govts eyes. yuzedo: london is a poor contry were poeple like mr cork 190 adaobi123 idowuogbo etc nomally did houseman + housemaid job just to survive and eat one square food a weekly!London is not a country oga. Also, not all nairalanders you meet here do menial jobs in the Uk. deeptesting: They better oppose it because I know how much they will loose from me personally...Imagine my family of 4 wife's, 16 children and 3 Nannies not visiting the UK anymore where we spend an average of £250,000 annually on vacation... I no come no who dey benefit from each other self, please let me consult with my wife's to know our next option for vacation, I just hope Mariam will not suggest we go to Maiduguri.Go and read your book. |
Please desist from posting adverts and other non-related things on this thread. This is mainly for people that need help with photoshop! Thanks. |
profchimex: Wow!!!!!!You're an arsehole! |
Pizzanatty: Some will be happy and say rubbish because of your hatred for Police...but remember irrespective of what thing or say about this happening, no one has the right to video any officer on duty, when you are shot dead and placed evidence to nail you will advice those making those videos to desist. Pizzanatty: u are disgrace 2 ur generation 4 calling me a bastard in a public forum just because my opinion on issue dont tally with yours...My friend sharap dia! You really need to get shot for that stupid comment. People like you are the reason Nigeria is in a sorry state. There's no way you can justify the nonsense that woman did. You still have the guts to tell people not to film in public.. " no one has the right to video any officer on duty"..wtf..I pray you get filmed next and they castrate you! *spits* ![]() |
see what people are coming up with on a zero budget film and some useless directors go dey give us rubbish watch. Thumbs up man. You're pulling the right strings. You'll definitely go far, don't relent at all. |
It's a sad situation for both sexes. Although the females are in more danger because of the whole menopause thing..Once you don dey reach 35 36 37, your akara don begin dey cold o! The economy I have to say is the main reason and no it's not just Nigeria. I know a girl here in the UK even willing to marry a guy from Naija and even sort out his documents. As in, her desperation is so blatant that every time we talk I'm grateful I'm a guy. It's important that young females plan their lives properly to attract the right kind of people. I know a yoruba girl here in south london that was filmed having sex and the video was uploaded to one of these sites. News spread like wildfire and if you know London, you know Africans here maintain close social circles. Safe to say, she's finished. Girls need to really sit down and think of how they approach social situations. You could meet your future husband anywhere. Give a guy a chance to at least talk to you for a few minutes before deciding whether to give him to time of day. I understand the thrills of getting approached by different men but truth is, as them take rush come na so dem go rush go o! That runs guy wey you dey go block get wife and children for house, so when he's done with you, he'll go back to his family while you keep forming 'big girl wey dey pull big men'. I'll also be the first to say most of us men are useless. If I had to advise my sister, here's what I'll tell her(and it's a bit of a crazy advice): First off, get yourself financially independent. A man will always respect you more if you can hold your own. Only a weakling will see that and be intimidated. 2. Don't brush anyone off! No one knows tomorrow. That guy that you turned down because he never dressed nice probably has something in the pipeline and could use the help of a strong woman to bring it to fruition. 3. Learn to lower your standards. We don't always get what we want and with relationships, that's the reality. I'm not saying you should sit down and turn into a punching bag because you want to stay married - no! Just be realistic! Guys are really scarce. If he has a few flaws you think you can work on then give it a go. 4. Most importantly, don't let society dictate how you should live your life! Truth is, not everybody will get married - logically speaking that is, so don't go crazy with desperation. If e be as e get, you could adopt or go to one of them sperm banks and get yourself pregnant. Plenty females do it. You won't be the first. All in all, I think the way to go about it is to be hopeful and present yourself in the best possible way. 1. |
What a weird comparison. Gmail is lightyears ahead of yahoo. from the ease of use to the design. The folks at google definitely know their beans. |
At least the runner-ups got something. I still maintain my stance though regarding the whole contest thing but I have to say it was nice seeing different concepts and how people interpreted the brief. I personally prefer the first runner up mainly for the font choice and minimalist approach. He probably would've won it if he added as much info as the winner. All in all, congrats to the winners. 1 |
I think OP has mistaken being a shy person for being an introvert. Two very different things. |
cheers mate ![]() |
OKX: @turlAgain, we're all just voicing opinions, you don't have to like mine neither do I yours. Of course as a business, it's cheaper to go this route, but being a creative, I'll always speak for my interests and point out the best solution where possible and discourage what I find unethical. There's nothing biased about speaking for yourself mate. With regards to the logo, It is just as you said: subjective! |
Brimmie: My cousin did his I.T there Last Year and they have a very good network. You don't need Illustrator to get the best logo mate. If you're talking in terms of scalability then yes, a vector program is the way to go. Personally I prefer PS for its rich colours and flexibility. Shame it's only raster based though. |
OKX: @turlIt's all down to balance mate, anything good costs money and that's why I pointed out that it's a big IT firm and companies like these can easily afford a small ad agency so I don't think budget is an issue here. Crowdsourcing fosters the idea that creatives can be easily sourced like jobless people, you grab what you want and chuck the rest away. You make a note about lesser known artists getting publicity, this is the internet mate. If you're good at what you do, you don't need a job like this to get your name out there. It has never been this easy to put your name on the map. I'd understand if they did it for the money but they stand a better chance bidding for jobs on job boards. At least with that, you get to bid and send past projects and only put pen to paper when a deposit has been paid as opposed to working and hoping . I've personally nailed most of my repeat clients from online job boards. Oh and just because western companies do it doesn't make it ethically right. We should always choose the options that leave all parties involved in the transaction happy. OKX: besides its a voluntary process.I started my post saying 'Rubbish! Get one person, go through their portfolio and if you're happy, award them the gig.' It's indeed a voluntary process. As you rightfully pointed out, this is just my opinion. Yes you're right about not spending more than is necessary, but that doesn't mean there isn't a better way to go about it as I pointed above. Put a listing out and ask creatives to send similar works from the past and have them explain the brief they were given for that project. From there, you not only understand how they interpret briefs but you get to see the extent to which they can push the envelope and that should help you choose who you think is suitable for the job. If balancing books is your issue, they can easily put up the same budget but make it so some creatives don't feel insulted. I know I'm not the only one that feels the same because some comments above echo the same sentiments. OKX: if ur issue is dat of credibility dats a different thing.Yup, you're right about art being subjective but theres a difference between appreciating a picasso piece and knowing a piece was badly done. I say so because I know what the designer was trying to do with a part of the logo but didn't pull it off..and I know because I used to make the same mistake until I got help from a senior creative. And no I won't point it out. I didn't say it to spite, I'm just drawing a correlation to the way the company had built its brand and how it can affect perception. It sure has affected mine. Companies that spend hundreds of thousands to millions to get campaigns done are not stupid (the difference between kpekere and plantain chips na the packaging bro). |
Rubbish! Get one person, go through their portfolio and if you're happy, award them the gig. Crowdsourcing is a slap on the face of the profession. Your logo has some issues by the way, you probably got that done by a crowdsourced designer. I don't think you know how a bad design affects brand perception...ok I won't go off on a tangent but this approach to getting things done is the reason the western world will never take us serious. Big IT firm can't get a small design agency to work on a campaign. smh |
ribechi: Helloooo! I don't understand you. are you implying that i am the OP? Me wey no fit design software. I don't blame you on your conclusion.Pathetic! |
crowd sourcing!!! Tufiakwa! |
