Bros, all these stuffs u wrote here are synonymous with the African culture..You can't go 2 d America's or Europe and find all of these cruel treatments..The talk here should be African Feminism...But I agree with soberdrunk tho
I like your mention of African feminism.
I have listened to lots of speeches on feminism and read lots of literature on same but I keep asking myself what's feminism?
Are there different spectrum to feminism?
There's no denying the unequal treatment perpetuated by sex bias. The principle of equity and egalitarianism belongs not only to the corridor of politics but also the nooks and crannies of marriage, family, business and most importantly in opportunities access to every person.
In my discuss with some self-styled feminism 'chiefly the lady folks', I realize that the feminist cry is mostly of equality as against the 'pseudo-female supremacy' riposte of some people to anything that starts with 'f.'
However, if feminism is only about equality, why not just call it female equality or rights?

Yes oo. personally I was so shocked that I didn't even know what to make of the write up: if it should be called xenophobia or misogyny. ....such a one-track mind!!!
I dey laugh @ 'one track mind' . When people attribute societal failures hastily to non-empirical oddities, you only wonder where the 'simplistic' conclusion emanated. In this case, misogyny is a tip of the iceberg.
Funny enough, OP might be oblivious of his 'attitudinal definition'. One would think OP has low self esteem, thus he's afraid of getting entangled with an independent and bold lady. The single parent story is just a smoke screen

No mind me jare. I'm not one who attacks people on social media but the write-up in question just warranted severe admonition
FamilyRe: Why You Shouldn't Marry A Lady Raised By A Single Parent by twinklestar(m): 6:32pm On Sep 26, 2016
CuteMorriz:
I am not saying ladies raised by single parents are all bad, you may get lucky finding some exceptional ladies raised by single mums. Evidently you seldom find single men raising a child but it's quite prevalent with the opposite sex.

A relation of mine was dating this lady and when the time came for the union to be made official, his parents advised him to discontinue becos after they had made enquiries and investigation they discovered the lady's mother left her husband many years ago over some frivolous reasons. Then I asked my uncle why did he side with family and not allow his son take the bold step then he said:

1. Women raised by single parent (mother) are usually strong willed hence may end up like their mother.

2. A lady who has seen no need for a father will be swift to end a union because she will have the courage to train her children alone afterall she was raised by a mum.

3. How will she get marital advice from her mum when things are tough and you know ladies often run to their mum when they need advice (remember the mother took the easy way out)

4. Sooner or later my son may become a bachelor again...the odd is high and is glaring..

5. A lady who have spent 21 years of her life without a father cannot be psychologically stable even if she appears to be.

6. Ladies raised by single parents did not experience the beautiful and ugly part of the union called marriage from her parents hence they don't have their parents as their role model.

7. Amin (as he fondly calls me) when the baton gets to you, look at the mother of your fiancèe closely because with time she will display those traits you observed in the mother......

Then I asked him what if the lady's father is dead and the mum decided to train her alone?...my uncle said we may also enquire about the untimely death of the father but "Amin that is a topic for another day"......
This write-up is an absolute nonsense created from a shallow and parochial observation. To declare a bleak future outlook and rubbish the marital aspiration of any lady due to her challenging background reeks of a repugnant thought process. It is thesame reprehensible, uncanny reasoning that has held back the development and consolidation of our national potentials across different ethinic lines.
At best, your deductions and conclusion are very stereotyped
Christianity EtcRe: What Is The Difference Between A Christian And A Disciple? by twinklestar(m): 8:15am On Aug 07, 2016
A Christian is one who has accepted the Lord as his personal Lord and Savior. Discipleship is a conscious effort to learn and imbibe the life of the master (Jesus) - John 8:31. Thus, a disciple is one dedicated to a life long discipleship.
It should be noted that all Christians are called to a life long discipleship walk with the Lord. This is God's ordained pattern to refine us.
Unfortunately, while all disciples are Christians , not all Christians are disciples. Accepting the Jesus as ones personal Lord and saviour is the beginning of the Christian journey, not the end (Matthew 11: 28- 29). There is the part of learning of the master.
Finally, disciple vis-a-vis discipleship is that act of yoke bonding with Christ

Jobs/VacanciesRe: The Difficult Stages In The Life Of A Nigerian Graduate by twinklestar(m): 12:25pm On Feb 25, 2016
The travails of the Nigerian graduate is quite heart wrenching and tormenting. Often times, when the reality becomes too encumbering, making ur mind wander off to 'worry land' frequently; well meaning elderly folks give u 2 types of advice - GOd's time is the best or compare thyself not with others.

My riposte is to ask 2 questions-
what is success if not measured against failure?
What is the essence of tertiary education if it doesn't translate to tangible economic well being?. The 2nd question is especially painful if u did well academically.

A friend - who studied mech eng - struggling to get an appropriate job said; " doing a job outside and below my qualification makes me feel like I'm being buried alive"

In the end, it dawned on me that the ignominy of unemployed graduates is compounded by uncertainties in the Nigerian polity landscape

I dare say our hopes and dreams is being muffled by past and ongoing realities.
I join all other unemployed and underemployed graduates in crying out "[i]when will the manna fall ?"

Yeah it necessary; I wonder why some of us here in nairaland can't even appreciate the fact that the author of this article as a life outside here, and yet some hypocrite would be complaining on why she didn't update.....if u are tired un follow her and stop insulting a writer who doesn't get a word of encouragement but an insult of getting popular
While I appreciate the author's hardwork and ingenuity on this interesting story line, the agony communicated by faithful readers in the form of criticism is understood.
For this wonderful piece is like narcotics and peju has made addicts of us through her write up. To be denied prompt dose of this 'crack' is to expose our flaws as 'helpless Dependants'. Were it not so, we would have kept mum.
I am sure we would soon be liberated at the climax of this betrapping narrative.

(Note: to all faithful 'addicts', be patient. The end is nigh.
@peju, keep up the good work)

CultureRe: 9 Richest Kings In The History Of Nigeria & How They Enjoy Royal Splendour(pics) by twinklestar(m): 8:28pm On Nov 26, 2015
Mztarstrechy:
With their brightly coloured robes, ornate thrones and legions of flunkeys attending every whim, they seem every bit the archetypal African kings. Nigeria’s traditional Monarchs may have been stripped of their powers half a century ago, but they appear to have lost little of their regal pomp and splendour as this fascinating series of portraits shows.

The photographs are provided by popular photographer George Osodi who toured Nigeria for a series of photographs entitled ‘Kings of Nigeria’.

1. Alhaji Dr Ado Abdullahi Bayero:

Posing on his ornate throne, Alhaji Dr Ado Abdullahi Bayero was the ‘Emir of Kano’, a position he held since 1963. A former ambassador to Senegal he was renowned for his abundant wealth, which has been amassed by investing in the stock market and agriculture. In one of the photos above,he was pictured out for a ride, being attended by aides as he sits on the back of his vintage Rolls Royce on his way to the Central Mosque in Kano. As a well-known and celebrated Nigerian photographer, Mr Osodi was granted rare access to the palaces and throne rooms of these hereditary rulers who now serve as living repositories of Nigeria’s enormous cultural heritage. He told Al-Jazeera: ‘There are frequent clashes among different ethnic groups… Lots of people have lost trust in their identity. I felt it was important that we see this diverse culture as a point of unity instead of seeing it as something that should divide us as a nation

2 HRM Agbogidi Obi James Ikechukwu Anyasi II,'The Obi of the Idumuje Unor kingdom’

HRM Agbogidi Obi James Ikechukwu Anyasi II, ‘The Obi of the Idumuje Unor kingdom’, was until his death, the longest reigning African Monarch. He was crowned king on October 9, 1946 at the age of 22. His robe, depicting a young Queen Elizabeth, gives a clear nod to the period of British colonial rule.

3. His Majesty, Wilson Ojakovo Oghoghovwe Oharisi III:

He was made the ‘Ovie of Ughelli’ in 1980 and ruled over the great kingdoms of Ughelli and Urhoboland for more than 33 years.

4. Alayeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade, the late ‘Ooni of Ife’:

Born in 1930, he has enjoyed a colourful life first working for his father’s business, then with the Nigerian Tribune newspaper, before attending Northampton College in the United Kingdom where he studied business management. In 1963 he became Sales Director of the state-owned National Motor company in the Nigerian capital Lagos. He later formed a company to distribute Soviet-built vehicles and equipment in Nigeria. He died this year.

5.His Royal Majesty Oba Oyetunji Jimoh Olanipekun Larooyell, the ‘Ataoja of Osogbo’ in southwest Nigeria:

He worked as a teacher for many years, firstly at a baptist day school. He rules over 300,000 subjects. He has studied management in London and is a qualified chartered accountant.

6.Benjamin Ikenchuku Keagborekuzi I the ‘Dein of Agbor’:

Just two years and four months after his birth in July 1977 he was crowned king following the unexpected death of his father. It meant he was the youngest king anywhere in the world. He once served as the Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, one of Nigeria’s most prestigious universities.

7. Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa I:

He was crowned ‘Oba of Benin Kingdom’ in the Edo state of Nigeria in 1979. Before that he studied at Cambridge university before being appointed to many top government posts.

8. Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman:

He is the 50th ‘Emir of Kasina’. He was coronated in 2008 five days after the death of his father, Emir Muhammad Kabir Usman. He is remembered as a peacemaker during the Nigerian civil war and has a passion for Polo.

9. His Majesty, Deinmowuru Donokoromo III, The ‘Pere of Isaba’:

He was pictured posing with his royal sceptre outside his palace. He ruled over the Kingdom of Isaba in the oil rich South-West area of Delta state since 1983.
Bro I fail to agree with your list. U didn't bother to even quote your source. The fact that Frederick obateru 'the olugbo of ugbo in ondo' did not make this list throws the whole list to the washers. Check wikipedia and Forbes for better candidates
