Say what you like from now till 2022, the decision has been made and those benefitting are happy about it. And in this life, i like what I like... you like what you like.. grin grin you don’t know me before and you don’t know how i think or what motivates my actions and decisions. Say all you like. The decision wont change. Everyone will face their life eventually.
Your comments here wont change the decision made.
He made a good move. If you dont like it, fine. But me i know most people have flawed judgements because of hidden hate for the man and some other reasons we all know.
If the point was to let us know that you are a US citizen/PR and thus able to work, we've heard you loud and clear. But do not mislead folks here. Anyone who is interested in working in the US on an H1B visa can do so with no problems.

Lol

Those who are familiar with applying to US jobs know what I’m saying... the ones for military always say protected veterans can apply. The one i attached now is for a design engineer and it says only citizens.
I've been working for 10 years in the US... you don't know what you're talking about.

Eniolakiite:
You are wrong.

There are jobs that say ONLY PRs and Citizens should apply. Many jobs. They do put it there. And i wrote no sponsorship because even if you have h1b visa you shouldnt expect them to help file your green card cause some jobs help you file your permanent residency. That is the sponsorship aspect.

Attached is an example of how they write it.. only for citizens and green card holders.
So? The vast majority of folks who apply for a greencard through employment typically start with the H1B visa. So basically they can continue to work for the 60 day pause and then resume their greencard applications. So what has Trump achieved?

Just so you're aware, over 80,000 people were selected in this years' H1B visa lottery, the pause does not affect them. More than 900,000 Indians are on greencard waitlists, they are all working here on H1b or H4 visas, none of them is affected by this pause.

That’s untrue. You need it. For many jobs. If not why do so many people want ithuh
You will want to apply for jobs in big tech and finance companies and even small organizations and it will be among requirements that must be a citizen or green card holder. Many jobs like that.
You keep arguing pointlessly. Care to explain why Apple, Google, Microsoft, ExxonMobil and others all hire thousands of H1B workers every year?
Travel › Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by TWoods(m): 10:52pm On Apr 22, 2020

Yes the ban doesn’t stop work visas. And work visas like H1B is not guaranteed for anyone. He rightly said it is for those trying to get their permanent residency. If you fufill all criteria for PR, you cant be denied but even if you fulfill all for work visa like H1B you can be denied because its a lottery system. And my point has been about that pausing the green card processing, it is a good move. So those in the process of getting their green card right now apart from refugees and asylum seekers will have to wait for 60 days. That’s it. People enter US in many ways and many are looking to get their green card so he is pausing such for now to attend to the unemployment claims that citizens have filed. And to me, that’s a good move. Not adding to the number of citizens or PR yet till this unexpected crisis calms down. And why should anyone be stressed that they paused their immigration?? It is his country and right now he is the leader grin grin the American people voted for him!

Everyone is entitled to their views.
That is hubris. Trump specifically excluded the H2B visas, which his hotels and golf courses rely on and take thousands of entry-level jobs that should go to Americans each year. He excludes the H1b visas which bring in more than 85,000 foreign workers each year, more than half working on wages less than $100,000 pa. Pausing the issuance of GCs for 60 days is a complete waste of time. It will not free up a single job held by a foreigner today.

I wrote for most jobs which is true. If not, why do people try so hard to get it ? Even those so called on H1B. Do you know how many people have to leave the country every time because their H1B not renewed and they don’t have green card...
It simply isn't true. Outside of federal government jobs and jobs where you need a security clearance, you don't need a greencard. Infact, many government jobs and virtually all security sensitive jobs are not open to greencard holders. As i said, people try hard to get a greencard because their initial purpose of coming to the US was to obtain citizenship in the first place. Also having a greencard is useful if you want the flexibility to be able to switch jobs easily. The H1b lasts 6 years, after that you need an I-140 to be able to renew the H1b visa, at high costs every time. Many H1b holders also have families, with a greencard, the spouse and kids are also able to work, which is impossible on H4 visas.

Basically you don't know or not sure really? I don't need to ask if you are a trumper/MAGA hat, your argument regarding this issue gave you a way.

He wants to stop people from getting a green card for 60days just to protect American citizen but the same group of people can still work without green card?. What a joke
lol i had to laugh when i saw that too. I think this was simply a way to distract from his disastrous handling of covid19 and throw red meat to his base.

Like I have been saying everyone is entitled to their own views. You have a view. I have a view. You need a green card for most jobs. Even if you don’t start with green card, you’ll need in the long run. If not, why do people rush to have it? You are free to have your opinion and I’m free. He is being fair to American citizens. And the temporary pause is okay if you know the number of people who get US green card per day. Whether potential immigrants like it or not is not anyone’s business. His citizens deserve the opportunity and he is giving them. Foreigners deserve it too and pausing it for a while is okay too. People getting laid off and few companies hiring is why they have millions filing unemployment claims. Anyway, Everyone will be fine in the end grin
That is flatly untrue. Hundreds of thousands of people work on H1B visas for years without any problem. The greencard is useful because it helps you avoid having to renew your H1b visa almost every 1-3 years, grants you the right to travel and return to the US without having to reapply for a new visa all the time and have to explain the "reason for your visit" to the CBP officer constantly. With a greencard, you can easily switch jobs without having to file an amendment everytime you change your employer.

They traveled freely because the lands they went to where largely empty! I’m sure no one will stop you from migrating to an empty island somewhere and develop it to whatever you want. Oyinbos built their countries from scratch to benefit their children... you do the same rather than simply looking to be a parasite and demanding to be allowed to.

No provisions, no money, no help for foreigners or tourists, for anybody who is not a citizen or a legal resident. If there are no flights and it's impossible to fly back to your country, keep all copies about it and it will help in the future to give you the next visa or to renovate visa because staying longer or overstaying is not your fault, Ask your family or friends from your country to send you money for food and lodging, get together with people in similar situation, it's all you can do. The people is staying away and won't give you a job or a place to stay, nobody wants to get sick.

Get together and go to your embassy. It's your government who should help.
Overstaying your visa is always your fault. Anyone in this scenario should make sure they contact the USCIS to extend their visa on exceptional grounds.

Are you insane? Who is attacking here? It's what we all Americans do, we help each other here. Unfortunately now during this virus times, we don't help foreigners just because we don't know them and people here doesn't trust Nigerians, but this lady is a Nigerian living in US, she knows her people. I think now in these hard times Nigerians living in US should help Nigerians stranded here. It's a reasonable HUMAN request.

And you go to your Buhari and claim there.
Are you sure? We have hundreds of thousands of Americans who live on the streets and i don't see anyone opening up their homes to them.

Painful as it is to admit, rago is right. The man who impregnated your friend should be the one asking these questions, not you. It’s quite likely the man has zero intention of getting your friend over to the US. FYI, the B1 medical visa route to have a baby here is now firmly closed.

B1/B2 visa is not my goal in life or an achievement to me. I am beyond that level.
I have gotten B1/B2 visa multiple times so it is not a big deal.
I will repeat it again United States of America is the most overrated country on earth.
I used to think the United States of America was a perfect place like it is portrayed on T.V until I arrived in Queens, New York City and found homeless people scattered all over the place.
Major cities (New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C, and Baltimore) are infested with homeless people and that’s what I hate the most about America.
It is all a hype.
So why bother applying for a US visa?

I truly remember the 2018 period. I think the part 12 of this thread to be precise, the dude was busy lording over the thread, deciding who qualifies for the visa and who weren't. I'm glad you built something from the stones thrown at you. I celebrate you bro.
I have some time sitting at an airport to respond to a few of you so why not...

Hmm lording over the thread? Precisely what does that mean? You mean making an opinion you had all the freedom in the world to ignore?

Here’s the problem... you’re simply a bunch of superstitious zealots. A post on a forum is not a stone thrown at you... they are merely empty words, get over yourself.

Abi the same twood (anti-migrant) of that time that will openly tell people including me that they will not get visa as if he is the consular General?,

I wish he is still active here so that I can show him my 4.0/4.0 cgpa ( all A's) in last semester.

Back to the topic. Life doesn't have a perfect manual, every theories and models been used today were some people's trial and error in the past which eventually worked for them before it became a model.

Sometimes, you let people figure out circumstances by themselves. If it works, they win. It it doesn't, they learn from it

I’m in America and I think you’re not making sense.

Let people come and get the education they need. If they don’t get to stay in America an American education will still open several doors.

PS: In the end, it's America's loss. Free education and Stipend with their taxpayers' money, and then you send us out after working for one or three years. We use the certificate and work experience to move to Canada and then grow their economy. Do you think it will take them forever to figure out how disadvantaged that kind of arrangement is to them? Think about that for a minute.

Check top companies and top schools, a sizeable percentage of those running these establishments are immigrants. They know this and this is why they spend millions bringing people in every year. They want to keep innovating, their kids don't like school, so they spend millions bringing people like you and I over here every year.
You way over estimate the Nigerian contribution to America. America was a world super power since the 1940s, we were still a British colony at the time. Do the math... only a tiny fraction of F1 students get their education fully paid for, the rest pay hundreds of thousands of dollars into the US economy. Just because America chose not to keep you doesn’t mean it turned everyone else away... many stay on EB1A B or EB2 NIW visas. It needs only 1 or 2 Elon Musk’s...

We are the economic beneficiaries of the US immigration system, not the other way around. We are not here to “grow” the US and Canadian economies. Their economies were already great, that’s why we came here, not Sudan. Let’s call a spade a spade. If we are that great at growing economies, perhaps we should start with our own.

I see now what is the problem with some. We cannot think or act for ourselves with the purpose of living a life that is “right”.

We see and acknowledge that the POTUS is a racist and instead of seeing the ills that this spawns, we take it as a “green light”, an excuse to continue with this defilement of human character. Some seem to be followers of all that is impure and incapable of doing what is “right” for the sake of what is “right”.

May God have pity on the people that cross your path.
As Nigerians, we should be last to criticize Donald trump. Are we and our leaders any better? We live in a country that deifies pastors accused of rape and here we are preaching to others about human character. I laugh in Greek at our predilection for cognitive dissonance.

Since I’m Nigerian.... how does your definition for ra-cist still apply? If you’re upset about the claim that Nigerians are corrupt, you may want to look at Nigeria’s ranking on the 2018 corruption perception index (hint, we are 144 out of 180 countries).

I’m surprised that this forum allows for Twoods blatant racist remarks without any type of repercussion or banning. I know that signaling out of races as Twoods does regularly would not go unnoticed if this forum was based in the USA, so I’m hard pressed to understand why its allowed here since Twoods is basically insulting our “corrupt” race in our very own country.

I have to admit that we may not all be corrupt, but it does look like we are all cowards for allowing Twoods to express him/herself about us in this manner.
You abuse the term “racist”. In this very same thread, on this very page is someone asking another Nigerian to cover up her pregnancy and find a “lenient” POE so she can sneak into the country to have her baby. When you say not all Nigerians are corrupt, I think the question you should answer is who isn’t?

We all have freedom of speech my dear... banning people who share a different opinion to yours is what corrupt authoritarians do. What you have left isn’t the truth but an echo chamber of sycophants. Good luck.

Given that Juarez, Mexico is the border city to El Paso, the great majority of its citizens have a passport and Visa since living close to the US is a big convenience in terms of all other goods and services not related to medical. Among these citizens with Visas, there is a small percentage that has the financial solvency to actually pay to have their baby in the US, and we are happy to help them. Contrary to what you believe the vast majority of Visa holding people do not have their babies in the US nor do they apply for Visa for that purpose.

This is not a Nigerian or Hispanic problem, this is a racial problem. We are all equal and nobody chooses where they are born.
