Hello Gurus in the house, Please I have a question. I wanted to know which of the options you think will be more convincing to the V.O to show that I'll be coming back to Nigeria after school.

1. That I'll be coming back to continue working at my current place of work but in a managerial capacity. (Bearing in mind that I have only worked here for about 2 years and 8 months). I intend going with a Study leave letter.
Or

2. That I'll be coming back to take on managerial role in my family owned business, where I haven't worked at before( I intend taking CAC document that shows my parents and brother as directors, company statement of account and employment offer letter).

PS. Both companies are in the same Industry.

Thank you in advance.
You're asking the wrong question. The question is which of the 2 options is true? Once you figure that out, you should be good to go.

At the risk of being attacked, I will talk. This is another reason why we are all viewed as untruthful, untrustworthy and unrepentant at the embassy. They have no empathy for Nigerians at the embassy because of this kind of attitude. We all know these plans are illegal yet it is posted on a public forum where we know embassy officials visit frequently. When this is pointed out, the OPs response is lackadaisical to say the least. It may be laughable to you but know that people are watching and taking notes and reinforcing their negative stereotypes of Nigerians In entirety.
lol I call this the "nobody holy pass" excuse.

Thanks for your response, we'll reduce to 3weeks if that'll make getting the visa easier, only wanted to use the opportunity to visit some friends and family in some other states, we're being sponsored by my aunt.
Would you truly be staying for 3 weeks instead of 2 months? I think too often, we underestimate how much the VOs know about the host country. The VO obviously is aware that August/September is the time schools re-open in Nigeria. By October, kids are looking at mid-term exams... yet that is the time the kids are traveling on "vacation" to visit friends and family?

Your aunt signing an affidavit of support is a waste of her time. The VO won't read it, it carries no weight. In my view, it actually counts against you... if your aunt is needed to support you while in the US, it means you can't afford to travel, so why are you taking the risk?

That is 3 whole years. Treating Nigerians like animals.

The best thing would be for you not to apply for a visa.

Hello, house. My school has renewed my scholarship which comprises of a full tuition waiver and stipends. However, my I-20 still has some deficit of about 8K. I need help getting a statement of account of about 4M. I'm willing to pay for it. A Nigerian bank account is more preferable. Thank you.
How is blatant fraud like this permitted on here? And to think your ID is "God of fire"... hilarious.
Health › Re: Men’s Sex Organs Are Shrinking Because Of Phthalates Chemicals, Pollution by TWoods(m): 9:57pm On Mar 25, 2021
This story is wrong on many levels:

1. The data had nothing to do with male reproductive organs, it only concerns fertility rates.

2. The decline is only found with western men (US and Europe). African, asian and middle eastern men do not show the same decline - this is something that Dr. Swan does not state, because it calls into question the validity of her data.

3. There is zero evidence that the "decline" (if at all it exists) has anything to do with phthalates.

As FYI - Dr. Swan was my professor in grad school and my job directly involves phthalates. Myself and my colleagues all either have kids or expecting kids...

Some key points that may guide your decision making;

Look out for;

The school with better opportunity after school work.

The location of your school - (safety/crime rate, urban/rural settlement - closeness to industries commercial activities).

Your potential supervisor - the research interest closely linked with yours, google about him/her if possible, ask alumni about this person. (Success in Grad school is almost directly proportional/linked with the quality of your supervisor -especially phD programs)

Lastly, if all your checklist has been ticked, this point should be the tie breaker - Go for the school with better funding . Ego dikwa very important.. grin

I wish you well.
Also factor in cost of living. You certainly don't want to live in a place where your rent is more than 50% of your stipend.

Hello everyone!
Please I need your opinion on this.

My passport will have a validity of 6 months and 1 day on my scheduled day of interview.

I have paid and entered the passport number on interview schedule since last year and I don't want to lose the money. Passport renewal may also take time from experience and I want to go for interview early.

Kindly advise if this will fly based on passport validity rule.
Go for your interview but make sure you apply for a new passport ASAP. The 6 month passport validity is required when you fly.

Good evening Mr fairheart . I got admitted into Georgia State University ,(MSc Public Policy) for fall 2021 session. I am currently applying for a fellowship application which comes with lots of benefits. They requested for a writing sample alongside other documents. What I don’t understand is if it’s a fellowship application or a past research work.
Do not PM anyone please. Too many people taking advantage of the ignorance of some.

A writing sample is basically anything you've written, could be a college project, dissertation, etc. All they want to see is how well you convey your thoughts on paper, your ability to think critically, question assumptions, etc. Considering you're applying for what are likely limited spots for a public policy degree with a fellowship, I'm assuming they want to know that you're capable. You should be able to provide this without too much fuss.

Also, and I say this often, do not hesitate to ask your admissions advisor questions like this. They can better explain what they want to see and how. They can even give you samples if you ask. Be cautious of those here who claim they can write one for you for a fee... remember, you WILL have to write papers on your own when you get admission.

My friend's fiancé is the USA and my friend is in UK(student visa) she left September last year, the guy said he wants her to apply for f1 visa if am correct. Is it possible for her to apply for it in UK,does she need to come back to Nigeria to apply for it.
Thanks in advance ☺
It's harder for her to convince the VO of home ties if she is applying from another country where she is a foreign student.

Yup... you should be grateful to Southern Nigeria. If not for oil money, you'd be no better than your brothers in Niger Republic. Obviously ours was a ghastly mistake to unite the north and south in 1914 and the failure of our forefathers to rectify that error in the 1960s.

Hello house kudos to everyone the informtions here are quality info.

I want to visit my uncle in the US. He has prepared the invite letter and it states two weeks vacation. Now here are my challenge
1. I don't have a paid Job in Nigeria at the moment my last paid job ended June 2020.

2.No travel experience

3. Although he stated it that he is footing my bills while an there but I might still need a strong statement of account to show that i have something doing here.

4. How do you know the available interview date without paying the 160$ yet as I dont want the money to be tie down.
Save your money, you are very unlikely to get the visa.

Contact the admissions assistant for your program. He/She can give you a good idea of where you are in the admissions process.

Go here - https://ttugradschool.force.com/admissions/programs. Find your program, look up the advisor and email the person.

twoods sir, please when companies say they need valid work authorization in the usa for their job. Do they mean you have to have work permit already or should you apply and get the job then go to the embassy to get work visa?
It means you either have to be a citizen or a permanent resident. Companies that put out such are unlikely to want to sponsor you for a work visa. Just getting the job is only part of the journey, the company must be willing to spend money to get you a work visa (H1B) as the visa is a direct request from the company, on your behalf.

Those four schools don't need application fees rights?
Nope. ETS sends your scores to those 4 schools for free. Application fees to those schools are independent of the ETS and may or may not be waived for you.

Good evening here, I wanna ask some questions about scholarship and admission for SAT..
I registered few weeks ago and I was told to choose 4 school to send my SAT scores to... what I'm bothered about now is that those school I sent SAT scores to will they give me scholarship after seeing my result? can I also apply to another school I didn't send my awaiting scores to ?
or must I see my result to apply for any school I didn't send my SAT scores to on my college board site?.
You're going about this completely wrong and this suggests to me you need to take a step back and evaluate why you are taking the SAT in the first place. The SAT allows you to send your results to 4 schools for free - that implies that you've done your homework, know what schools you are applying to and who also require SAT scores (not all schools require one). You include at most 4 of those schools when you write your SAT so they are sent directly to the schools alongside your application.

You can apply to another school you did not include at your SATs, you just have to pay a fee so it is smarter to maximize your money spent by making sure those 4 free slots are going to your 4 top schools.

. Hello

Thank you for contacting the College Board, I'll be more than happy to assist you. Fee waivers are granted automatically to students that received a SAT fee waiver and based on the information entered on the Profile application. Also, students must be a first-time college applicant from families with low income. The parents must reside in the U.S. If the student qualifies for the fee waiver, the application and reporting fees will be waived for all colleges or programs. Also, international students do not qualify for fee waivers.

If you need any additional assistance please feel free to contact us at 844-202-0524 (U.S. and Canada) or 212.299.0096 (International). Thank you for contacting the College Board. Have a great day!

the statement above, does that mean they don't offer full scholarship for International students?
The statement is about fee waivers, not scholarships.

Yeah the guy did not pay, the guy got his visa. If you are on a forum you always announce you do mock for free to help people on the forum and when they contact you, you tell them to pay. Why not list your price on the forum so that people will know and only contact you when they have the money.
Because it is not allowed and he'd be banned. You can't use another man's business idea to make money.

How’s asking someone to pay for a service a scam?
It is a scam. First, it isn't allowed on the forum - Seun has always made that clear. Second, it is disingenuous... you pretend you're passing on valuable information for free, only to lure people to contact you personally and then charge them a fee. I have folks contact me by DM, I typically dismiss this as you can always ask any question you want on the forum. The answers are not just a benefit to you, they also benefit others too. There is no need for personal interaction via DM. Third, and I've ALWAYS maintained, the idea of mock interviews is frankly a fraud. You do NOT need to do a mock interview. If you are a genuine student, you won't have a problem answering basic questions like - why did you choose your major/college? What is your purpose for seeking a visa? Who is funding you? Years ago, Nairaland did not exist, how did folks obtain F1 visas then?

Good day all.
So I got an admission for an MSc program (Environmental Science) in the US with no funding. Although the Program Director told me that they are working on additional funding (Which I cannot rely on) and will inform me if there is any update regarding funding.

The total funds required for one academic is about $34,000 (All Fees including living expenses). I am thinking about accessing loan for the Program through one of the agency mentioned on this thread. And a friend is willing to gift me some funds as well. I can be able to take care of Visa Fee, SEVIS Fee and Flight fare.

I want to know from those who are already based in the US if this is worth the risk, most especially with the loan repayment.

All opinions are welcome.

Thank You
Don't risk it if you do not have the funds or a defined way to cover your loans. Hopefully your scholarship comes through.

even if 60 people before you had been denied, you would still have gotten a visa. you are the ideal candidate. you proved conclusively that you have no intention of leaving your home country permanently. the VO probably had never met anyone on an f1 visa who didn't stay longer than 5 months at a time in the US.
Politics › Re: Buratai, Olonisakin, Ex-Service Chiefs To Forfeit Salaries As Ambassadors by TWoods(m): 5:12pm On Mar 10, 2021
SaharaReporters had on January 21 exposed how the former service chiefs would be awarded four Sport Utility Vehicles, four Peugeot vehicles, among other juicy retirement benefits, according to the revised military conditions.

It was also revealed that the military chiefs would get security staff of over 40 soldiers as well as domestic and foreign medical cover.

“Retirement benefits for CDS and service chiefs; the following benefits shall be applicable; one bullet-proof SUV or equivalent vehicle to be maintained by the Service and to be replaced every four years. Two; Peugeot 508 or equivalent back up vehicle; three, retention of all military uniform and accoutrement to be worn for appropriate ceremonies.

“Also, five domestic aides (two Service cooks, two stewards and a civilian gardener); an Aide-de-Camp/Security Officer; a Special Assistant of Lieutenant or Captain or equivalents or Personal Assistant; also, a Standard Guard of nine soldiers.

“Three Service Drivers; one Service Orderly; escorts (to be provided by appropriate Military units/ formation as the need arises; retention of personal firearms (on his demise the personal firearm(s) shall be retrieved by the relevant Service and also; a free medical cover in Nigeria and abroad,” the HTACOS 2017 reads.
Even former US presidents do not get these "retirement benefits". At this rate, the standing Nigerian army simply exists to serve retired army generals. Of course, even I would pass up any ambassadorial salary to keep these "benefits".
