hilaryxoxo: Hey guys, quick question...
My friend's brother failed to renew his Canadian student visa, even after the 3-month grace period. (i honestly don't know why he was nonchalant).
Now, the lawyer is saying the only option he has is to get married. I just want to know if all this guys mess would affect my friend - the guy's sister.
I am sure their records would show the relationship. Would it affect my friend when she wants to get her own student visa? Tell your “friend” to come here and ask the question herself. |

luxury01: I am 23 years old, my skul does not require any test for Nigerians and i also think its because of my course which is agricultural science/ agronomy Nigerian students typically graduate high school at 16-17. The vos know this and are wondering why you’ve suddenly decided now to go for a bachelors degree, at a cheap backwater school that requires no test scores. Those same vos spend their day seeing younger students with fantastic test scores gaining admission to top US colleges... and here you are. You fit the stereotype for “intending immigrant”. |

Robert6708: “The conversation was ok. Whilst some people will come and analyze the many things they believe is wrong with your transcript. From experience I have come to realize getting a visa is most likely an issue of discretion of the VO, and luck as well. It wasn’t your day. Don’t let nobody tell you it’s about the fact that you ain’t married or have kids blah blah blah. I’ve seen people will better or worse profile get denied or approved accordingly. This is not to say preparation is not necessary. But again a lot of indices come into play Before getting a US visa. Prayer is the key. My 2 cents.” Prayer is the key to what? |

Ashabiola: Hello house. I want to share my experience with you all and need some advice too.
My husband and I applied for visa on virgin passports and went for interview yesterday.
We were denied because we didn't prove to have ties to Nigeria which was child.
Now, my husband wishes to reapply, leaving me behind. Of course, to join him after some months hopefully. He is a web developer and has foreign clients. One of his top clients is a versed internet marketer in the US and is ready to provide everything he needs for him to come down to the US and work. Even to the extent of helping him with a work permit when he gets there.
We have sent him an invitation sample and he is working on it. To be honest, hubby wishes to work in the US and his employer is ready to do that for him. Going in with a B1/B2 visa (not work) and begin work permit process immediately.......Do you think he stands chances of approval? He will be applying in a month time. So you intend to abuse the visit visa and you were rightfully denied. Sounds about right. No one can advise you on how to break the law. |

alayomini: @ twood, thamks alot to the opportunity . My case study here. I study industrial maintenance engineering at ND level Mechanical engineering at HND level. I graduated in the year 2015 , and did nysc 2016 . Dec 2016 was my first interview but was denied . Maybe because it was undergraduate admission for the same Mechanical engineering I had done here in Nigeria which I included in my ds160. I reapply again that same December and was also denied. Some questions such as, why dis school, wen did you finish ur high school, what have u being doing. Are u married and do u av kid. Finally who will sponsor u. I believe I did my best but was worried why I keep getting denied.
February 2017, I got. Job as a mechanical maintenance technician at one flouill . I already defer my admission till summer , so I tried it again after my new i20 arrived. But the case still remain same . After I decided to use my resource for myself instead of dashing embassy, I got married and have my kid. Later someone told me it because I applied as undergraduate instead of masters , because I already have Hnd and I declare it on my ds 160.
I agree with him and took his advice , now search for any course which relate to my Field which is safety . As a technician I need safety as degree to advance my career. I applied and here I am with my master I 20 ready to collect the visa this time.
@ twood and other guru in the house kindly contribute to my success , as I will surely come here to share the testimony. What is your precise question? |

Hello! Please ignore my stellar resume. I'm what I am by God's grace. Please you cannot take that G-factor away from me. You say what works for you. That works..for me! Please! If you think some questions or answers are irrational, you may decide not to comment. I don't want to sound disrespectful. Kindly assist those who needs your assistance if you could. Don't lit their beards before shaving it off.. Still, you sounded like a nice dude.. Assist, don't judge!! Tack!! I'm doing exactly what you request I do. 99.9% of applicants here do NOT have EU residency. The biggest factor when applying for a non-immigrant US visa is that you will return home after your brief stay. Having EU residency is a huge factor indicating that you have a much lower incentive to remain in the US since you have a similar western nation to return to, along with a good educational resume and job. Yes you are what you are by God's grace... but the visa officer did not grant you a visa based on your daily bible reading. To mislead other people here is not fair. Be grateful for what you have and leave it at that. |

Olusegun26: From SRA (Silent reader association) but fired PMs to experts for clarity .. Did the normal procedures before interview...
Interview proper...
Firstly, I would like to alarm this particular comment-- nairaland.com is good, but wouldn't teach you so certain things - soft skills. Easier to read comments but more importantly, practice, practice and practice.. Not by my own power too, na God o. Hallelujah
I must say my intension was to take charge of the conversation, which i was able to achieve.
VO: Hello Sir, Good morning
O26: (ahah, in my mind), Good morning, hope you had a fantastic weekend.
V.O: he said nice things... (nice starting). So why are you going to the US?
O26: I'm going to Lincoln University (LU) in CA for a 2-year Master's degree program in MBA with a concentration in Management Information System after which I will go back to my for a career advancement.
V.O: you live in Europe (he mentioned the country)
O26: Yes, i live and work there. If you noticed that i have also completed an M.Eng there.
V.O: what do you do?
O26: mentioned the company's name, a front-end programmer (software testing-- gave examples, fraud investigation and developing interactive GUIs)
V.O: oh i can see you've a good profile, so why going for an MBA this, and not in this country, why .. Now here i completely pulled his attention.. He further asked, or is it because of CA is a hub for IT (Oh Bros, I noticed he tried to trap me there - -if i say "yes" penre, ah, na immigrant intent be that)
O26: (took the questions one after the other): To put it in perspective, LU is a business oriented school that offers an affordable +custom fit education.. I would like to take advantage of the multidisciplinary research center(i learned this from their website, added my own stories too) that entertains the collaboration of business professionals + student from diverse IT backgrounds in providing solution to real world problem..I chose US because her schools are of prime recognition, and comprise of professors... (said something can't remember again :: soft skills). 3. (Not because of the IT hubs in the region.. brought him back, proving myself as a legit student). I remember i said something like "this program will groom me to become an IT business architect with an understanding of... Analyzing, defining and building information system requirements and guiding other on how to build their for various business situations... Was just talking and he was listening..
V. O: How many schools did you apply to? O26: 3 Lincoln University, Weber state university, Missouri State University
V. O: who will sponsor this trip? O26: my mother, she's an orthopedist, essentially I'm gainfully employed as previously discussed and I've a liquid cash of * EUR.
Your visa has been approved, pick it up...
Hey chairman, you have my both passports in your hand - my old passport is attached, V. O: you want collect am now? O26: hmm, not really..
No documents checked, no questions about marriage..
Additional things he might have seen, my traveling experience (man don Waka for Europe o), B2 still valid.. Been to more than...
What gave me more edge: Almighty God, eloquence, my accent (amerikish.. Lol), confidence (worked with many of them before) and preparation... In spite of my nice profile, bros i prayed and prepared...
Sorry to those refused visa today.. Please ask questionshere.. I think there are no stupid questions.
I was unhappy to see a guy refused visa today.. I think he used an agent, and his Mr agent arranged a fake I20 for him (tried multiple times, but all proved abortive).. I'm not here to mock anyone but please stay away from agents.. You can do it yourself..!
@Theamerican, i encourage you not to stop guiding folk here, do as your mind pleases.. You rock ma'am.. Keep it up.
Thanks to many gurus here... You guys are great. I'll inbox you back...Kudos to Scholarstica, theamerican, 4peace4, @akin3103,pianoguy, dollydolly, biikeys, jesusbabygirl(my sister from another mother), lyrondee and those that asked questions, i learnt a lot from all of you. Cheers.. Please do not mislead the impressionable folks here. Your interview had nothing to do with Almighty God, prayer, confidence or your accent. You had a stellar resume - having lived, schooled and working in Europe (you most likely have legal status there - which is an excellent tie + travel history). Your resume is NOT representative of the majority of people here and should not be the basis on which they apply for their own visas. I understand your need to tell us the good news about your visa but there is very little many of them here can learn from your experience. |

BabaRamota1980: Jeezus!
These VOs have acclimatized and become Nigerians. See how rude this VO is to someone's wife.
"Pass me your passport".
Hey OP, what lie are you talking about. I hate when people take oyinbo's position as a default righteousness and view blacks as the default criminals.
Where is the lie? Her fiance no fit change his mind?
This VO was jealous of the lady's accomplishment and status and confidence....VO looking for gaps to shut her down, and when she found it she never bothered to enquorw further for clarification or perharps other strengths that might overshadow a simple "change in plans" in the couple's itinerary.
Look, if i was this lady's fiancee i will rip the visa out of my passport and take vacation elsewhere. Spain is looking for touriats. Netherlands is looking for tourists.
Crap! This transcript don vexx me well well. The vos aren’t stupid. They know spouses lie to use the other as a “tie”, going separately for visa interviews when in reality both intend to travel. Our own penchant for steadfastly refusing to be honest is what is at play here. As I’m sure the vos would tell you, feel free to tear their visa and go to Spain if you’d like. |

BabaRamota1980: It is human to be dishonest. It is righteousness to be truthful.
There are Americans that enter Nigeria on pretense of business but end up doing something else.
I said this before, Americans have lost touch with humanity. The pentecostal church rip-off and end time pastors is an invention of America and we see how our continent is corrupted with their crusade. Do we deny them access to come in for business? No.
Why do vo's always have suspicion about our intent. Are their pentecostal scammers and criminals better than us? It is also human to not want certain people in your country. As I have said before, Nigerians are not forced to apply for US visas... i'm not sure what your argument is meant to achieve... if at all there is one. |

BabaRamota1980: My brother, i respect your response there but i guarantee you some people have done it the way you suggested and still were denied.
The truth is these vo's use strong ties to the homeland as collateral but there are Nigerians who abandoned strong ties and overstayed their visa with calculation to become US residents.
Let's think about this for a moment. The whole selection process is not standardized, it's all "discretionary".
It's like a taste test to pick which dish is best in a cooking competition. Judges will grade differently.
That's the fvck we are faced with when you walk up to a vo (judge) who has a sniffle and inflammed nostril that morning and could not get a whiff of your delicacy to rank you top.
We are wasting money. We are supplying the funds that sustain operational cost for the US Consulate and Embassy and they reward us with humiliation.
I know, not all applicants are qualified and must necessarily be denied, nonetheless, our acceptance rate ought to be far more impressive than what it is.
This guy you respond to should be given a visa going by his posted interaction with the vo.
Look my brother, there are certain elements in the Nigerian society that have proven track records of self-starter and competencies, and are crime free. Those elements are a gain to the American society even if they left on a pretense of returning to Nigeria but remained behind in US. This guy falls into that category and the discretion should have taken this into consideration.
US does not want dependents, economic burdens on their social welfare system. Does this guy look like somebody that will go line up for their welfare checks?
This is fvckery! There is a lot of speculation here and you ascribe to US VOs superhuman powers. They have less than 3 minutes to interview you, how do you expect them to tell who is genuine or not? Yes there are a lot of Nigerians who have a lot to add to the US, but there are just as many Chinese, Japanese, Russians, Germans, French, Jews. in fact, one could argue that those nationalities have added more to the US than the Nigerians you argue for... US VOs do not reward Nigerians with humiliation, we simply humiliate ourselves by choosing to traffic in dishonesty. |
