Good luck with the US and other countries continuing to tighten visa requirements. Very soon they will require you to provide your ancestors as proof before you can apply for a visa. "Nobody holy"... in a nation where you can find 10 churches within a mile of each other... joke of the century.

Him na Worry359 incarnate no doubt sha, much more like one Niger-Deltan Americana like that I follow on Facebook! Na one person for this Nairaland wey me for like make e unmask himself be that....
If you’ve ever had to endure indignity at foreign airports over your green passport, you won’t have joy too. Ask yourself, why do we have entire forum sections dedicated to obtaining foreign visas but the Swiss do not?

I read a story about Chimamanda Adichie’s poor treatment at the hands of a US airline a few months ago. She was angry at the airline... I thought her anger was misplaced, she only has to take a trip home (or read the nairaland travel section) and see why the airlines are justified taking such extreme measures when it comes to holders of a Nigerian passport. Shame on us.

I will quote you because you won't stop being harsh ,attacking people as if nairaland na your papa land, you are the hypocrite here (I have not dished one abusive word since I started quoting you but since you started it I will follow suit) , you have achieved alot with your hypocritical mind and it has given so much false confidence, you are a privileged slowpoke! . I don't see you respond to people's quest here all you do is diss and forcibly rob your opinion on people.

You hide behind that useless moniker to call people names (lair, thieves e'tal) I will ask you again ,how do you feel when you look in the mirror? hope you feel totally righteous and firmly upright as you parade yourself to be here!
At least you’ve been honest enough to clearly indicate your problem was simply about being petty.

The issue isn’t my “forced righteousness”, it is about a people who’ve been mollycoddled into thinking that occasional recourse to dishonesty is the same thing as being smart. The foreign countries you all want to rush to are what they are today because of the “false righteousness” you hyper religious hypocrites love to pooh Pooh... good luck. The sad part is the rest of us are forced to endure humiliating visa interviews thanks to your own unscrupulous nature and penchant for dubiousness when the truth would have been much easier. You sit on your vaunted throne, inveighing piteously about filters... While engaging in fraud (in the name of Ijebu)... nauseating.

I don’t call names, I simply call things as they are... if you lie on a visa application, as you did - you are a liar. It’s just that simple. No one has bullied you (use a dictionary), you’re only upset because someone dared to show you up. I understand, for too long you’ve lied to yourselves that you’re all morally righteous folks with streaks of “ijebu”...

Allow this thread serve it's purpose, let those who have answers respond!, we all know about google yet people come here because we want to interact with like minds and get answers from people. What is it with you ?
The thread is serving its purpose... in fact, no one else has responded to that post at all... all day, not even you... hypocrite much. grin

Here is the problem, your concern isn't really the thread, or the person who asked the question, you're simply quite petty, obviously still smarting from being called out previously by me. That's your issue... if not, there are several posts (an example is glaring on page 250) where other posters have urged people to either use google search, go on institution websites or read the prior pages of this forum rather than seeking to be spoon-fed… but oddly enough, you only take issue when I make that comment.

I also urge you to let the thread serve its purpose, let those who have answers respond! Let those who point folks to the source of info also respond too... if you don't like it, there is a private blog available for your use.

Thanks for the reply my interview is in 7days time and I cannot request for another i-20
But i have a photocopy
Even worse.

You can request for another I-20. You will have issues with using white out on a sensitive immigration document, either at the embassy or at the POE. It's the rule of thumb even for ordinary work documents, never use white out... if you must correct a document, use only one cross-out so the error is still clearly legible, then initial the change. Best practice, get a new document. The VOs default thought is that you are lying, you're making his case stronger with white out.

Thanks for this ma. I can't be happy with the fact that others are being denied. I have been there twice, during my first application B1/B2 and also when I took my daughter. I have never seen so much crowd like I saw today.
At a point, I was also scared of being directed to her counter.
I was just surprised at rate at which that particular woman denied so many, even with so much crowd.
What did you expect? She should approve everyone because there is a crowd?

The point is we would not be here today if we were just a teeny bit more honest. Simple.

Hello house i have issues with my i-20 i signed on the parent/ guardian option, I already used a white ink to clear it out, hope that wouldn’t be a problem
That is a serious problem. Report the error to your school and have them send you a new one.

I hope you learn a lesson here - the laissez-faire attitude of Nigerians to everything does not work in other countries.

Hello everyone

Please I have a question..I have noticed so far people who didn't write gre or toefl hardly get their visa please is it a must you write toefl or gre to get your student visa or is there a right answer to give when it comes to your English testhuh? Please I need an answer cuz my interview is next month
There is no right answer and no one is going to manufacture one for you. Simply go tell the truth and see what you get.

Herein lies the problem, most serious schools will require a standardized test - even regular Americans take the SAT or GRE/GMAT when applying to US schools. The majority of schools who don't require these tests are either visa mills or schools with minimal application standards simply looking to cash in on the lucrative education business. The VOs know this and are highly suspicious... are you choosing these schools because you truly want to study or simply using them as a vehicle to emigrate to the US?

On the flip side, people who apply to top schools like Duke, Harvard, Princeton, Rice are rarely ever here seeking advice. They don't need it. These are typically people who are serious, know what they want and how to get it. They do not require to be spoon-fed, they go after information they need and typically get their visas approved. Even the relatively few who come here rarely get turned down for visas. The US embassy is not peopled by anti-Nigerians, they simply want to know that they are giving visas to those who are really serious about getting a solid education, not miscreants seeking to scam their way into the country.

Visa was approved today 6:30am .
The embassy was so filled Up like it was the gate to heaven. I was interviewed by the lady in Window 4. I think I had about 10 people before me, I doubt if she approved 2 out of the those 10.
Without fail, 99.5% of posts claiming to be posting their positive visa interviews ALWAYS put it in context of everyone else who failed. Why? Does it make your good luck that much special?

Is it true that I have to wait for six months after being denied a student visa before reapplying?
Most likely. I guess the US embassy is tired of having to deal with people applying for re-interviews after they've been denied, clogging up dates for other applicants.

My ppl o! how're your guys doing .... So DH n i got our B2 medical visa in Lagos June 2016 and traveled stayed for 8weeks/2days and DH stayed for 14 days .now I renewed via Dropbox in Lagos for same B2 on d 15th may a month/ few days to expiry to travel august 9th for vacation (14 days ) Florida ( not pregnant currently)and we got 221g white form to schedule follow up interview within two days. so the open date for us was July 9th - 18th and we booked for 9th July .Thanks to zoemummy for her detailed list which I have used to arrange my documents physical and spiritual . so now have lil questions. 1) my husband said we will go with our baby for the interview hope it wont attract additional questions .hope is OK to go with her? (2) female or male VO which one is better for this hospital payment review . cos me no want too much grammar ( very funny). (3) I read Mellchii transcript via Abuja and VO says""" when filling the birth certificate for the child, you MUST NOT state that you are a resident of the state of Texas, because this means the child can access insurance which you are not eligible for, since you aren't resident. So make sure the birth certificate doesn't say that you the parents are resident. (Info i never knew that will help someone )and I noticed we used Houston ...what do I do in this case( I pray z nt requestd) ?
(4) I have all my zero balance and the itemiz bill from oakbend but I saw that i was given adjustment OB short discount -1,607.35 on page 1of 1 and Ins adjustment OB short discount -10,282.25 on page 2of 3 thou the end shows - 2,300.00 - 10,282.25= 0.0 balance . how can i explain the on short discount ? Or i should revert dat was not given when ask?
Abeg my 221g club members help answer the one u fit .lol
1. You can go with your baby. Not a problem
2. Sex of the VO does not matter, you won't be able to select either way.
3. If you indicated that you were residents on the BC of your child, there is nothing you can do at this point.
4. The large "discount" will likely attract some scrutiny. That was a rather large amount and will raise suspicions.

All the same, you have no choice but to go for the interview and hope for the best.

I would advise you to use an agent to lie on your behalf - that way you can be banned for 10 years and not have to waste anyone's time in future about how to apply for a US visa.

My friend didn’t exactly misuse his visa, in fact he has completed his studies and before he decided to marry his wife who is 25 and an African American, he was already studying for an MSc. He definitely has no reasons to want to even live there, he is from a very previlege background, dad is a resident electoral commissioner, his dad is cousins with a former governor of my state plus the mum is late.
This indeed is Nigeria... where “privilege” is defined, not by the fruits of your own hard work, but by your political position which gives you access to stealing public funds.

Ranking isn't always important when it comes to US schools, reputation and alumni does carry a lot of weight. Plenty of famous black alumni passed through Morehouse... that trumps its 42% "ranking" any day.

We should be able to pass reasoned and practical comments, devoid of the empty rhetoric that is oft found here.

Not to burst your bubble but i'm surprised you didn't know that. Its the very first thing on google when you search the school. Samuel L. Jackson also went there.

It worries me how little research people do when it comes to taking decisions that will affect the rest of their lives. Your VO is likely to know Morehouse college and the fact that MLK Jr. went there. This would have been the simplest question to ask you and you would have flunked it. Then you'll blame your village people for not being able to get a visa.

What can I do with an O'level result from 2007 without any further certificate . I want to apply for an undergraduate degree .
You can do a lot with it... the problem is whether you think you must do that in the US. You can come back home and apply for a degree in Nigeria. It's cheaper, requires no visa and makes more sense when you then decide to apply for a visa to do a masters program in the US.

There is no packaging required. Tell the truth and accept the outcome. “Packaging” is why we have such difficulty being believed at visa interviews today.

Now, her visa has expired and she tried renewing through drop box but was asked to go schedule an interview. Any ideas why and what plausible questions she could be asked? Plausible answers to the questions will also be appreciated.
Thanks.
She will need to explain why she spent 9 weeks on holiday. If she was a student at that time, that should not be a problem.
