AfonjaBoston: Why must he go hunting for an American legitimately?
Use marriage as an escape route?? High horse practice what you preach
How I wish the Republicans will do the needful and cancel marriage and birth on American soil as paths to citizenship for foreign nationals.
how I wish oh how I wish 1. If you live in a society long enough and make friends, it's logical that your spouse ends up being someone that you know, have an existing relationship with. Why go to Nigeria to find a wife? It's not "hunting" for the express purpose of an immigration benefit. It's simply an artefact of a natural process. Most Nigerian college graduates end up marrying fellow college graduates. Was that the result of hunting solely on college campuses? 2. I did not go down this route... so yes I practice what I preach. I simply highlighted it as a legitimate option. If you happen to fall in love with an American, should you not marry her then? |

COOL10: Good morning people and a Happy Easter Celebration to you. My humble request is pretty simple. I want to travel out to study Medicine preferably in the USA and I'd love anyone who's currently doing so explain the process. How long do I need to do a pre-med program, one month, one year or do I need to do full four years before starting as a Medical student? Pls I'd love to save some costs too and if u know of cheap universities either in the USA or any other country(that is safe to study in),don't hesitate to list them down. Thanks in advance for your replies. It would be near impossible to get into any good medical school in the US as an international student. Best option, go for a 4 year premed then find an American to marry, legitimately. After that, the world is your oyster. |

KaptainAfrika: 1. It will raise suspicions during the interview. I recommend you shelve that plan. People with 'virgin' passports have gotten visas.
2. That's good. So what you have to do, is be able to explain what the business entails, in such a way that shows that your presence is needed for the business to succeed and if you are gone, the business will collapse, something like that - but please be honest and be straight to the point.
3. You will not be asked. But if they do, you will probably be scheduled for Administrative processing which is like an opportunity, to bring the documents required to decide your case. The more documents you try to present to the VO, the greater the red flags.
4. That's a valid reason for B1/B2. Know where, why and for how long you will be in the US. Also know one or two sites where you intend to visit, also know how much your ticket would cost to the US and back. Most importantly fill your forms honestly and truthfully. This post should be required reading for everyone asking questions here from henceforth... |

Cuteaidomo: Good day all....please I have 2 questions and I will be needing clarification. 1. Pls can my LO who is an American citizen access free healthcare in the states? If yes, how do we go about it pls? She's meant to undergo a medical procedure which is not an emergency and since I will be traveling with her in August to have baby no 2,I'm considering doing it over there. Pls I hope there are no negative effects to this. Anyone with such experience can pls throw more light.
2.Has anyone put his/her LOs in a crèche or playgroup while on this birthing journey? From what age can they be in such schools and is it free for American citizens?
3. Any elpaso mums traveling btw late July and August should pls holla @ me,we could hook up for accommodation and other logistics.
Thanks all. This is why CBP officers pull you over at POEs. There is no free healthcare in the US. It comes out of our paychecks every month. You are responsible financially for your child's healthcare. If the consular officers find out, you will find it difficult to get a US visa again. No free creche. You have to pay for it... daycares can be quite expensive so plan ahead. On the other hand, you can find private baby sitters... consider planning towards at least $20/day for teenage babysitters. If your child is younger than 5 then the public school option may not be open to you. I've heard that Houston schools are not the best though... at least most of my friends there are opting for fee-paying private schools instead of the free public schools. Bottomline, its troubling that you're already hunting for "freebies" just because you found a VO gullible enough to grant you a visa to birth your child here. You do not contribute anything to the society, why should you expect freebies for your child? Who do you think pays for those freebies? |

Afamdi12: Uhhhm thanks for responding but are you in a bad mood or you're just naturally an impatient person. I have been following ths thread silently n have gone tru as much as I can. I mean there is a limit to what a person can handle/see. If someone asks specific questions, it means specific response is needed if anyone got it. Referring people to read the pages is ok but please do it with care. Some people can't deal with certain things, you want me to start crying before US embassy bounce me already. But God forbid! Nobody will bounce me.
Based on logistics, plz if u have the email to mail the US guys, just drop it and dont shout at me again before I will cry for all of you here. And if my visa expires 19th may and my appointmnt is 18th may, will that still be seen as renewal as that is my situation atm. Dassol. God bless guys! Thanks lol wait... is this a paid service where you expect people to answer your questions (regardless of how ridiculous) on short notice? I find your claim that "some people can't deal with certain things" to be revoltingly lazy. Where do you think others got the information they dispense? From heaven? 99% of the "questions" here are asked by people who are intellectually lazy... all these questions can be answered by reading instructions on the USCIS website. If you're too busy to research on your own then good luck to you... |

markmard: TWoods ,i disagree with you on this!! ,Houston airport is the most unfriendly airport in usa especially towards Nigerians ,i will never never travel via Houston airport my candid opinion, why send most Nigerians and every pregnant woman to secondary inspection !!! ...IAH Poe with long queue, bogus questions and unnecessary delays ((((( I'm Nigerian... i just flew to and from the Houston airport barely 2 days ago and there is nothing wrong with it. It is true that they send "most Nigerians and every pregnant woman" to secondary inspection, but that is because most of us are frauds who have an unhealthy disdain for rules and the truth. We give every serious immigration official who sees our passport reason to suspect us - using fraudulent passports, carrying drugs, lying to visa officers to obtain immigration benefits etc. If we change our ways, others will start to respect us. Think about it for a second, Houston has the highest concentration of Nigerians in the United States. It is also the number destination for pregnant Nigerian women. CBP officers know that you are coming PRIMARILY to grant your kids US citizenship - some of them resent this, for good reason. Also they have to be mindful of the fact that many plan to resort to government benefits. It is common sense to expect a CBP officer in Houston to be far more suspicious of a pregnant Nigerian than one in Idaho. |

You can legally work off campus after your first year. the issue isn't so much that he worked when he was unauthorized, the problem is that he lied about his immigration status to obtain a job. |

akin3102: Just go and Explain your case to the HR and return the money they paid you.meaning you work for free. you might not like Twood's comments but he just told you the truth. You kinda messed things up. You raise a good point. He may consider going back to his employer and being honest with them - tell them he had no work authorization and pay back any money he earned as wages. Hopefully if he explains the serious consequences of their reporting to dhs on his visa status, they may be kind enough to convert his time there to an unpaid volunteer. Fingers crossed. I'm certain he lied about his status to obtain the job, the employer also made the mistake of relying on his words and failing to insist on filing his I-9 form before he could start working. Running away and continuing to lie to his employer is a short term fix, but ultimately a futile one. USCIS will have records of this job at his green card interview. Good luck avoiding that one. |

bigjustine: read my post again, if you can't offer advice, i need solution and not your condemnation. i believe anyone in my shoe will do the same because my school stopped international student from getting a cpt that will enable them to work. 1. Anyone who does what you did is a short sighted fraud. Your school is not under an obligation to offer you a CPT. You can either work on OPT, if available, or seek an employer to apply for an H1B on your behalf. 2. There is no advice to offer you. Basically you're screwed. If the HR reports you, your F1 visa will be canceled and your chances of getting a green card are slim. 3. Bluntly telling you the repercussions of your deliberate actions isn't condemning you, that is just manipulative nonsense. You knew that your employer would have to file an I-9 form for every employee (they can't lie if they paid you as that payment will be reflected in their IRS filings). What solution is anyone going to give you? Your SSN is on file... 4. Spare me... you thought you were being smart, you forgot that this isn't Nigeria, where anything goes. Good luck to you. |

I am just confused, i dont know what the result might be. i need help. has anyone ever been in this kinda situation before? Lol you basically ruined any chance of staying in the US permanently. Sorry. They must have employed you on the basis that you claimed you had work authorization. What's with d extra years u implying?? As a US citizen or PR, you can do whatever you want. As an international student, you can't. Remember, you have to be actively enrolled in a school full time to maintain your status. You can't simply crisscross from school to school as you please. |

yinkslinks: And some people will say they don't check documents deceiving people they are VOs and gurus. Una nyash all of una. The situation for students is different. You NEED your US transcript to renew your f1 visa. Also if you note, LagosNIV made an important point - they do not bother with documents from Nigerians because they can be easily faked. A transcript from a Canadian school is expected to be genuine (especially since the applicant applied from Canada). Don't mix the two. |
