The crisis emanated from the joint ownership of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has been put to rest as the National Universities Commission (NUC) has transferred ownership of the institution to the Oyo State Government while the Osun state Government is to take over the College of Health Sciences in Osogbo.

The resolution followed the lingering ownership of LAUTECH over the years.

The Executive Secretary of the NUC, Professor Abubakar Rasheed, stated this at a media briefing in Abuja.

Professor Rasheed said both Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Adegboyega Oyetola signed a memorandum of agreement to the development.

The NUC boss expressed optimism that the new arrangement would restore peace to LAUTECH.

A man associated with infamous political activities has been picked to be the custodian of Yoruba moral values raising fears that the traditional space is being constantly occupied by people of controversial credentials who are nevertheless close to political authorities.

The new Oba of Ifedapo, in Ondo State approved by the Ondo State Government is now Oba Adesanya Fayeun, popularly known as Ade Basket has been installed as the traditional ruler of Ifedapo, on the 7th April, 2020.


Ade Basket was associated with a string controversial political activities including violent activities in the past.

He was pinned as the anchor man for former Governors Olusegun Agagu and later Olusegun Mimiko’s era.



He was identified as a very troublesome personality who instilled fears in his people. His name was mentioned in several violent cases perpetrated by politicians a traditional ruler in Ondo State who does not wish to be named told Irohinodua.

Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau has reacted to the $7m reward the US Department of State recently announced for anyone with credible information that will lead to his arrest.


The Department of State made the announcement on March 4th.

Liverpool can confirm U23s coach Neil Critchley has left the club to take up the position of head coach at Blackpool.

After six-and-a-half years of outstanding service within the Reds’ Academy set-up, the 41-year-old departs to begin a role with the first team at the League One side.

Critchley moved to Merseyside in September 2013 to take the reins of the U18s before progressing to the U23s ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

He also took charge of the first team for two games this season as he oversaw the Carabao Cup tie at Aston Villa in December and, more recently, the FA Cup fourth-round replay against Shrewsbury Town at Anfield, helping guide a side consisting of players from the youth ranks to a 1-0 victory last month.

Academy director Alex Inglethorpe admits the news brings mixed emotions and while disappointed to see Critchley leave Kirkby, he feels it further demonstrates the pathway from the Academy into first-team football for coaches as well as players.

In recent years, Steven Gerrard, Michael Beale and Mike Marsh have all progressed to senior roles at other clubs having initially worked within Liverpool’s youth structure.

Meanwhile, the Reds’ first-team assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders was promoted to Melwood having begun duties with the club at the Academy.

Growing up as a child wasn't a rosy one for me. I wouldn't categorize myself as a child that was born with silver spoon because I went through hell.

On some nights, I would go to bed without eating. On very bad days, I would sustain lots of injuries as a result of the beating I received from people I lived with.

Ex-First Lady Turai and late ex-President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Madam Turai Musa Yar’Adua, wife of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, has lamented that Nigeria is in a precarious state today because her husband’s regime was cut short by his sickness and eventual death.

She noted that Nigeria would have been much better if the late President had finished his tenure but for the lingering sickness that eventually terminated his vision-driven life.

Underscoring the humility of Musa Yar’Adua, she said he once told her that his relatives would quarrel with her after his death as they would think that he had left so much money.

The former First Lady, who spoke at a recent memorial lecture in honour of the late President in Katsina, also said: “The late Yar’Adua was not a materialist leader who believed in accumulating wealth. In fact, he shunned material things as his slogan was service to humanity.

“There was a time he said to me: ‘Turai, I pity you because when I die you will have quarrels with my relatives because they will think I have so much money in my possession’.”

Extolling his virtues as a leader, Madam Turai said the late President would not give out contract without having the money to pay for it.

“There was a time I approached him that people are complaining that the government was slow. But he said to me, ‘people can say whatever they like but I will not give out contract if I have no money to pay’.

“The late Umaru was a kind of leader that would go out and monitor projects. I could recall when I used to join him to supervise hospital and road projects,” she said.

Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta has signed into law a controversial marriage bill legalizing polygamy.

This comes at a time when women had complain and even protested against the shortage of men to impregnate them. Women had to match with placards to show the dissatisfaction of not being able to get men to satisfy them. Kenya is a nation where the number of women is about five times that of men. And considering the old law of one man marrying only one woman, many women were left without a man.

Legalizing polygamy brings civil law, where a man was only allowed one wife, into line with customary law, where some cultures allow multiple partners.

A former Yobe State Senator, Adamu Garba has reacted to Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido’s statement on the abolition of the Almajiri system, saying it is the pride of the North.

Almajiri is who we are, where we came from. We should not be ashamed of associating with almajiri & condemning them to obscurity. Almajiri’s are sons & daughters, they are human, they are, above all, Nigerians.

They are students, unlike you, they chose the Quran, respect them.

My son, Bapetel, 7 proudly studying Quran in a typical almajiri way, using his Allo. This was in my house in Yola.

In doing so, he’s continuing a tradition of his family.
