PoliticsRe: UAE To Invest In $25 Billion Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline Project by U09ce: 9:58pm On May 13, 2025
femisplash:
With the US, UAE very much invested in this project as well as top global financiers such as the Islamic Development Bank, OPEC fund, European Investment Bank, the project could be said to be as good as done. Conceptualized in 2016, nine years after, the source of funding for its take off is pretty much settled. For many reasons, this project pushes Nigeria as a frontier, it is going to boost Nigeria's economic power. Russia is not only a military power but its gas resources makes her a major economic power house, despite tons of sanctions aimed at suppressing her earning power, Russia is still holding strongly. Europe's demand for her gas is a no brainer to the extent to which Russia is staying afloat the tons of sanctions imposed on her, in the process, improving her local currency to boot.
In the same vein, Nigeria promises to hold an economic bargaining power in the near future.
Europe is going to be a winner as much as African nations by which this project will certainly improves regional energy access, regional integration, as well as regional trade.
However, this must not be confused with Nigeria-Algeria gas pipeline project. This is also another $10billion gas pipeline project known as the Trans-Sahara Gas Pipeline deal which would see gas pumped through the undersea Mediterranean pipeline, transmitted to Italy, Spain and other parts of Europe. It could also be loaded into liquified natural gas tankers or vessels for exports. This pipeline passes through Niger Republic to Algeria - one of the largest gas deposit in Africa behind Nigeria.
In conclusion, Nigeria is running two mega pipeline projects side by side, a $25b gas project to Morocco and a $10billion gas project to Algeria.
It appears that Morocco is now the driver of the project, looking at the Phase 1 of the projecf

PoliticsRe: Concerns Mount Over Disbursement Of El-rufai’s $350m World Bank Loan In Kaduna by U09ce: 8:23am On May 09, 2025
Uba Sani facilitated the loan while Elrufai was in power. Today, it's come back to haunt him and he's sponsoring media attacks against his estranged former boss.
To be fair to Elrufai, he promised to undertake URBAN renewal and he picked a city in each of the senatorial zone - Kaduna in Zone 2,Zaria in Zone 1& Kafanchan in Zone 3. And he did fairly well in execution of the projects therein. The urban renewal program was more about roads than any other infrastructure. But in terms of renovation of hospitals and schools, all parts of the state benefited. One good thing with Elrufai was he gave the chairmen a free hand with their finances. For the first time in many years, the serious ones amongst them were able to execute projects in their localities.
I don't support dollarised loans but Uba Sani is reaping what he sowed and fertilised

Land grabbers supported by the evil United States. They will not succeed. Palestinians are no pushovers. They might not have the weapons, the backing of world superpowers but they are an epitome of dedication and resilience. It's interesting how the world is looking askance while scores of innocent people are killed in broad daylight

You get the plot. BAT only appended 'Calabar' to the project to give it legitimacy by the public. He knows the outrage that'd have followed a contract award to build a <150km road at 2+ trillion Naira.

EducationRe: FG Ends Bilateral Education Agreement Foreign Scholarship Programme by U09ce: 9:37am On Apr 30, 2025
I feel it is wrong to end the scheme. What it needs is a thorough review. The program should be refocused on only STEM courses. There's no way you can tell me that Chinese universities don't offer better engineering programs than ours. Send students meritoriously to the likes of China and Turkey and you'll see wonders.
PoliticsRe: Warri, Port Harcourt, And Kaduna Refineries Were Never Coming Back To Operations by U09ce: 9:18am On Apr 30, 2025
Let's get it clear . NMDPRA, the independent regulator that oversees refineries, reported that PH and Warri were active in Q1 2025 but the latter shut down in January. The shutdown was as a result of the malfunction of a sub unit of the distillation section, the main heater. Why then is this so called energy expert spewing an ultra pessimistic view that the refineries will never be back? In his warped logic, it's better to build a new 60k bpd refinery than to rehabilitate a combined 445k bpd capacity refineries. Even if the govt owned refineries were to operate at 50% of their capacity, it is more cost effective to go for the latter option.
I know we have a big trust deficit in relation to our govt. But it's good separate reality from fiction

PoliticsRe: Wike Expresses Displeasure Over Subcontracting Of ICC Furnishing by U09ce: 2:02pm On Apr 24, 2025
NwokoloOwa:
Wike is a very active and proactive human being. He covers all angles. I like him for that. He also has his ears, eyes, legs, arms are just everywhere.

I was at the ICC late last to enquire using there for a conference and was highly disappointed at the pace of work and even the finishings. Julius Bergers involvement in contracts in Nigeria should be reevaluated. They have grown so big and now clearly working in cross purpose with government. It's same thing they did with Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway until the government through Umahi revoked a part of the contract.

On the other hand I doff my hat for the Chinese guys CGC, very consistent and diligent in their delivery of projects nationwide. They are really doing great jobs in Abuja and other parts of the country and with less noise and grandstanding.
Forget about what Umahi is blabbing about that Abuja Kano road, Julius Berger did a good job there. Perhaps the best or second in the country.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Only 200 Youths Registered For Army Recruitment In The South East by U09ce: 6:12am On Apr 17, 2025
That's why the quota system should be reviewed. We can't be wasting job slots because some people are tired being Nigerians. The height of patriotism is putting one's life in the service of the country, and its main arena is the military. Thus, any demography that doesn't believe in serving the military doesn't believe in the country as a whole.

CultureRe: 10 Most Powerful Kings In Nigeria by U09ce: 6:00pm On Apr 16, 2025
Putinofrussia:
Leave religion out of it.Nobody made the Sultan the leader of all Muslims in Nigeria.
Ooni of Ife is more influential than the Sultan because his influence is beyond Nigeria.
He is the only king that has influence beyond Nigeria,up to Cuba,Brazil etc.He is well revered even without the influence of the FG.
For your information, the FG/colonialists only waned the influence of the sultan. His mandate extends into parts of Niger Republic. We should also note that being influential beyond the shores of the country doesn't mean that one will is the most influential within the country. The Yorubas reached places in the Americas due to the Atlantic slave trade
