PoliticsRe: Ebonyi Airport’s Leaking Terminal Building Re-Roofing To Gulp N2bn After ₦‎20bn by U09ce: 1:39pm On Jun 06, 2025
AMINDA:
He has a one-track mind. A workman with a hammer who always sees every problem as a nail. What's with the obsession with concrete? Who builds an airport runway with concrete? Most of the concrete roads he did in Abakaliki are already beginning to fail.

He revoked the Kaduna-Abuja contract from Julius Berger who were doing a fantastic solid job with a new asphalt technology just to award it to an obscure Infiouest construction company that no one has ever heard about. All because of concrete and so-called contract variation but the final re-awarded sum to the new company is almost matching what Julius Berger billed and I'm sure the new company will eventually ask for an upward review.
Aha. You have really unmasked who the man is. He only bamboozles the gullible public. That Infouest company I've never heard of any previous major job they've undertaken but Umahi is telling people that they are better than JB. Mind you, the same JB have been awarded some jobs on the Third Mainland Bridge. They know what they are doing

It's actually 22,500 meant to encourage people to take up vocations instead of rushing to go for pure science courses.

It's stated that a person can be eligible to enrol after 8th grade (that's equivalent of JSS 3). But there are specific courses that are post-secondary.
PoliticsRe: Why FG Is Converting Science Schools To Technical Colleges – Bugaje by U09ce: 11:15pm On Jun 01, 2025
When I did a quick check on the number of technical colleges in India, it was around 15,000 colleges. It's no surprise that Indians are some of the most skillful persons in the world, a trait which propelled them to being CEOs of top companies. They don't wholly depend on imported technology, they devise improvise and improve. And that's how they began launching spacecrafts. Read about the man called Abdulkalam. You remember that noisy generator Lister, read about it. The Keke Napep that's now ubiquitous is an innovation from India.

Now, let's dovetail to Nigeria. We shockingly have 129 technical colleges for a 200+ million people. Per capita, India has new technical college for every hundred thousand people while Nigeria has one per 1 million persons. The current drive by the likes of Bugaje to restore and improve technical education is laudable. It's one of the few things I give a thumbs up to the present government.

kowriesng:
Do you know that they road comes with rail?
It doesn't. What Umahi said was that there will be a rail (ie space for future railway) on the median of the road. So far, we are yet to see that clearance. They're even struggling to get enough clearance for the road itself, not to mention a railway.
TravelRe: Calabar And Akwa Ibom Section Of The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road (Pictures) by U09ce: 6:27am On Jun 01, 2025
Laslas, it will only be a standalone road. The probability of its connecting to the Lagos end is very slim. The BAT people know what they are doing. They're dodging the most difficult terrains of the so called coastal road i.e Edo, Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers. By the time the south south people realise that they have been deceived, time is gone. What they should push for is the coastal railway meant to connect the Niger Delta capitals to Lagos, which was earlier estimated to cost about 11billion dollars.

PoliticsRe: Rivers Debunks Julius Berger’s Withdrawal Claims by U09ce: 11:59am On May 31, 2025
That's too much a variation. But looking at the fact that it was Wike that awarded the contract while he was a governor and before Tinubu's devaluation, the variation is plausible. Between 2023 and today, most building materials have more than doubled their prices.

PoliticsRe: Kaduna Government Unveils Road In Southern Kaduna, Breaks 20-Year Jinx by U09ce: 10:01pm On May 27, 2025
Propaganda as usual. Everyone in th state knew that Elrufai prioritised three cities for his ambitious urban renewal project: city of Kaduna itself, Kafanchan in Southern Kaduna, Zaria in northern Kaduna. Talk to the residents of these places, they'll tell you about the efforts. If Elrufai did not construct a road in Kagarko, it isn't because it's in southern Kaduna but because he's more urban focused in terms of roads. LGs like Makarfi, Giwa who are predominantly Muslims did not also enjoy roads. But in terms of education and health, there's no ward in the state where schools and clinics were not renovated or constructed. Elrufai laid the foundation for Uba Sani to have a good cruise. Uba Sani himself acknowledged it only to hypocritically turn around to deny it.

TravelRe: Curerent Lagos-Calabar Road Compared To New Road Is Just 120Km Difference by U09ce: 2:58pm On May 25, 2025
I've since seen through the tactics of BAT on this LCCR. His intent is to develop the coastal areas of Lagos state, Ogun state and Ondo state. That's why 95% of the efforts are been put on the Lagos axis, not Calabar's. I'm surprised that the Niger Deltans were deceived to support this project, when the main artery into the oil-rich region is in a state of disrepair. The East West road is taking an eon to complete. The proposed coastal railway has been relegated. Even the Warri Itakpe line is that connects the Niger Delta to North central, is yet to be linked to Abuja. What a nation of mispriorities!

PoliticsRe: NDEJC Berates Warri Media Group Over Malicious Allegations Against PAP Boss by U09ce: 8:04am On May 22, 2025
ReubenE:
No, it is not out of place. It was rightly known as Olu of Itsekiri until 1952 when they connived with Awolowo to fraudulently change it to Olu of Warri.

To your second point: there is;

Attah of Igala named after Igala people
Etsu of Nupe named after Nupe people
Och'Idoma named after Idoma people
Tor Tiv named after Tiv people
Abodi Ikale named after Ikale people etc.

The convention for naming that you alluded to is mostly when a tribe or ethnicity has several/more than one kingdom so the stool is named after the land to demarcate and separate one kingdom from the other. Not saying it cannot be named after the land in a single kingdom ethnic group though.

Itsekiri people have a single traditional stool so Olu of Itsekiri is not out of place as it was rightly known until 1952.

Have you not wondered it is Olu of Warri but he does not have traditional authority over the Ijaws and Urhobos of warri. There are places he cannot even go to in warri. Doesn't that surprise you if he is truly and rightly Olu of warri?
Do you know how many times Urhobo and Ijaw youths has chased him away from their territory because he is for Itsekiri. Isn't that shameful.
Which kingdom have you seen where the king lives outside the traditional headquarters of the kingdom? It is the Olu of Itsekiri known as Olu of warri.
The traditional headquarters of the Itsekiri nation is Ode-Itsekiri but the Olu palace is in Warri and not just that, it is in Urhobo territory
Thanks a lot for the response. I learnt a lot from it. Two questions. What's the etymology of 'Warri'? Are you Urhobo?

The number one thing in the road to peace among the three tribes is changing the name of the Itsekiri stool to its original name - Olu of Warri back to Olu of Itsekiri

Like you rightly said, these guys are not even fighting for development but over nonsensical things. With the constant fighting, unsuspecting minds would think Warri is one super place of development. Warri is a ghost town fully owing to the senseless fighting among the three tribes
Olu of Itshekiri seems out of place, because Itshekiri isn't a place but a tribe. The convention for traditional titles is [Title] of [Place] e.g Oba of Benin, Emir of Katsina, Dein of Agbor, King of England etc. Not Oba of Binis, Emir of Katsinawa....
PoliticsRe: NDEJC Berates Warri Media Group Over Malicious Allegations Against PAP Boss by U09ce: 10:07pm On May 20, 2025
Ijaw vs Itshekiri vs Urhobo, wuna no dey tire to fight? Just recently, there were squabbles with regards to delineation of polling units in the Warri federal constituency. Each tribe was claiming superiority and the exercise appears to be in limbo. The unfortunate thing is that the clamor isn't about development but rather pushing selfish interests. A stranger to Warri will be shocked to see the level of infrastructural decay in a place that's touted to be an oil city. Instead of intense bickering, let the citizens embrace peace and tolerance to move their state forward. Whether they like it or not, all the tribes will continue to cohabit till God-knows-when just they've lived for mant centuries.
PoliticsRe: National Assembly Inserts Projects Worth ₦6.93 Trillion Into 2025 Budget by U09ce: 3:51pm On May 20, 2025
National Assembly is now one of the most lucrative public office in the country, thanks to these insertions otherwise called budget padding. A budget outlines the expenditure and revenue plan, so if you have a bastardised budget no one needs to tell you that your plan is dead on arrival.

But there's a flip side to this issue. Over the years, the public have forcefully added projects to the mandates of their representatives. Hitherto, their broad functions were lawmaking and oversight. But today, a rep with ten bills to his name might get stoned in his constituency if he doesn't attract projects. And there's no way they can get such projects except through insertions in the federal budget. We're in for a long thing. I don't see this trend backpedalling anytime soon

9/10. My childhood set was lucky to experience both the analogue and digital ages. We were wandering around game shops playing Mario at the same time playing various traditional analogue games(floor tennis, biro fight, hide and seek, street wars, catapulting, rubber rings, chewing gum stickers etc) . Why I didn't give it a perfect 10 was because I didn't experience the whole of it like my friends because my parents were stricter with my movements. My close friends could spend five hours away gallivanting while I couldn't. We thank God for His mercies
