With the misinformation that is now coming out from all sorts of bloggers about the forth coming election in Edo state so many people will will scared of coming out to vote on that day & people publishing "them say" information should please to pasting such on verified news |
This election in Edo state is between Pastor Ize-Iyamu & Governor Godwin Obaseki & one of the biggest mistake I believe PDP as a party in this election is making is to make this election almost Adams Oshiomhole's issue base rather than facing the party or person they are contesting with. |
FORMER Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olabode George, has blasted former governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, for saying that Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State will lose the forthcoming governorship election. Fayose, in an interview on Plustv Africa, had said that despite being a PDP member, he will not support Governor Obaseki’s re-election bid. However, faulting Fayose’s statement, Chief George said the former Ekiti State governor was on his own. George said: “I find it completely unacceptable. How can a committed member who has benefited immensely from the party pitch his tenth against our own candidate in Edo State? “I am countering such remarks by telling the people of Edo State that we, members of the PDP in the South-West, that we are in support of Obaseki. We pray for him and we will work and support him to win the election. “PDP in the South-West and I dissociate ourselves from Fayose’s statement. He is on his own because we do not know where that is coming from.” |

Event of 2015 is what they are still battling in the Court and the case has not even started properly. Nigeria judiciary & the Lawyers are part of the problem of Nigeria. It is high time for Judges to put a time frame for cases before them so as to round up their cases on time |
Has Chief John Odigie Oyegun stopped supporting Governor Godwin Obaseki that he is now in the campaign train of those trying to see that Pastor Ize-Iyamu wins the forth coming election? |
In as much as I have no problem with the national assembly members having an input as to how the beneficiaries are to be recruited, I am against their desire to control or determine who gets the employment because their only aim is to make sure that only their loyalist benefit from it why the targeted persons are left out. Our legislatures to me are our biggest problem |
It is better for Glo to shut down their business because the company is so so useless. Nigeria politics is a joke & the politicians are jokers. Obaseki will still participate in the election on Friday because he will approach a federal high stop for a sty of execution of the Federal high Court order |
By Ayo Onikoyi Star humour merchant and Sustainable Global Peace Ambassador, Francis Agoda, famously known as I Go Dye has written to the embattled governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki who was disqualified by his party, All Progressives Congress, APC to contest in the June 22 Governorship Primary Election to embrace peace and drop further confrontations with members of the party perceived to be behind his plight. I Go Dye made a copy of the letter available to Vanguard. “Please, drop these confrontations and work out peace with all concerned. Lastly, let me remind you that they can’t shave someone’s hair in his absence, so the verdict against you was done on a collective basis by different institutions bigger than Oshiomole. Please walk away from further confrontations, so that tomorrow your profile can still be kept intact as a technocrat,” a part of the letter reads. “At this moment, you should understand that money doesn’t buy true loyalty. Look beyond pride and ask for reconciliation with every member of your party. You have done what you feel is right and I will advise that you should. Let go of these confrontations. Further damage is avoidable if you take some moments of silence to ignore some of the issues raised. Please, you shouldn’t listen to those who have made you go through this with their wrong advice. Please, don’t allow them to deceive you into greater confrontations by luring you to decamp to another party,” he added. The comedian went further by chronicling his closeness to the governor and the National Chairman of the APC, highlighting his connection and commitment to the Edo State government. The letter reads: “Sir, I respect your knowledge and I am a man of firm belief in justice, fairness and truth. This belief made me stand with Adams Oshiomole when his mandate was stolen from him, till we found justice. In the course of my career, I have met and performed for you and Oshiomole. I was never an appointee or beneficiary of any contract while he was there as governor, which you are aware of, I am always on my professional standard. In view of my belief in justice for all, I do solemnly request that if you know that your rights were abused, and the issues raised by the screening committee were not correct, you have a right to challenge it anywhere. I will stand by you on that note, but if you truly know within your conscience, that they are correct, please don’t bring yourself to public ridicule. I had met you closely just three times, the first encounter was when the idea of your becoming the governor started. You told me your plans of transforming Edo State to a mini Dubai. We had a warm chat when you started consultation with different persons and groups, thereafter I met you again at the victory party hosted by Oshiomole for you at Ring Road. On that occasion, I told you I will speak out,if things went right or wrong. Not long ago, I met you in Abuja and gave you my observations about some of your projects. As Sustainable Global Peace Ambassador, I had met with your Deputy, Philip Shaiubu, at the onset of this issue with your party and the National Chairman, which also prompted me to write Comrade Adams Oshiomole on your behalf, trying to find a path to a peaceful reconciliation. Sir, one of the issues against you in the public domain is the non swearing-in of the 14 House of Assembly members even after the Senate and House of Representatives intervention. It’s not too late for you to do even now, so as to put your name in the Hall of Fame as a man of integrity and peace. This issue is above the interest of the National Chairman, more stakeholders in your party were being offended in the course of this agitations, even with several peace committees being set up . You have a great mindset but many people are of the opinion that you have allowed the advice and egocentric attitude of those closer to you , some of whom are envious of your position as the governor today, becloud your reasoning. Your close friend, Adams Oshiomole is not a saint, but he has been able to negotiate peace and loyalty of friendship with almost every one that he had issues with while forcing you against the wish of his party members years ago. But you have not won any of your aggrieved friends or party members to your side in the last two years. The gap between you, your fellow Benin brothers and kinsmen continue to expand. As a sign of respect to our Royal Majesty, the Oba of Benin, please call all your brothers together and apologise to them, it will go a long way to strengthen your prosperity and future happiness. I stand to be corrected, none of you involved in these confrontations is right or wrong, what is missing is that sweet friendship of childhood ,that has been challenged by western civilization. All the subjects in this land belong to one royal stock and indivisible family under the leadership of Oba Ewuare II , the great Oba of Benin. Please take time to be alone for sometime, stay away from many people and accept the truth to yourself, that it was grace that brought you this far, not knowledge or the power of any man. Appreciate those who God used to fulfill his destiny in your life. A lot can still be attributed to your name, so, you still have a chance to achieve more infrastructural development than your predecessor, by elevating the standard. As a Global Goals Ambassador, I would love to see a road project better than Airport Road with international standards. This is part of the landmark projects that will speak in your absence, otherwise nothing might be used to celebrate your tenure. At this point I will remind you to try and complete some of the projects that you have embarked upon with an attitude of excellence. The ongoing Ekewan Road, Amagba and Irrirhi Roads are too narrow without futuristic insight. The residents in those areas will suffer erosion in no distant time please do this so that history will not taint your legacies. Once more, please take it upon yourself to promote peace, there is no time too late to achieve lasting peace.” I Go Dye has become popular for his public letters to Nigerian leaders. On different occasions, he has written letters to President Muhammadu Buhari, Atiku Abubakar, Emmanuel Uduaghan, to mention a few. |

Just watch how some of his loyalist will start designing from his cabinet with a view to pitching their tent with Oshiomhole so as to remain relevant in APC & allow Obaseki to roast alone |
That is not a big thing for Oshiomhole to do because politicians are good with sweet words & Oshiomhole has a lot of sweet word to use in deceiving the electorate. |
Whoever is pasting or publishing this useless result is doing more harm to Governor Obaseki than good. Please stop pasting fake result for an election that has not even been conducted or an election that is now before the coury |
Awol1:It will still be difficult because Nigerians hardly do protest voting because we are good at sticking with the party that we like whether their candidate is good or not. |
The only party that could have been able to challenge APC for the gubernatorial election in Edo state is PDP but the PDP is like a non existing party in Edo state & I don't think they have any candidate to challenge that of APC except Honourable Ogbeide Ihama. |
The real battle is about to begin. |
•Governor names Sanwo-Olu, Lalong, senator in peace panel •’We insist on indirect primary’ •Commissioner quits EDO State State Governor Godwin Obaseki began on Thursday the process of truce with 14 elected lawmakers who have been excluded from the affairs of the House of Assembly since January. He named Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Simon Lalong (Plateau) and Senator Ehigie Uzamere to lead the peace mission. Only 10 of the 24-member Assembly were inaugurated on June 17. The remaining members are not participating in lawmaking. The three-man panel has a mandate to reconcile the Executive with members-elect. The exclusion of the 14 members-elect is one of the issues behind the virtually intractable crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement, the governor said the constitution of the reconciliation committee is part of moves to restore harmony and peace in the state chapter of the APC. Obaseki restated his commitment to peace, saying that a united front would make the party stronger, more cohesive and help to foster more development in the state. He added that the committee, which commenced work with immediate effect, would reach out to all parties in the dispute and address all grey areas for peaceful resolution of the matter. Also on Thursday, Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu insisted on indirect primary to pick the APC standard bearer for the Septermber 19 governorship election. In a statement by Special Assistant on Media, Benjamin Atu, the deputy governor boasted that Obaseki will win any form of primary election – direct or indirect. He alleged that the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, was bent on direct primary because he had already written the result. He argued that indirect mode of primary election was the most appropriate method in view of the guidelines put in place by many APC stakeholders to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the state. Shaibu said: “Despite this confidence and assurance that the victory of Governor Obaseki is not in doubt, we are not ready to go the way of the direct primary. “Our preference for indirect primary is because we don’t want to secure victory at the expense of the health of those we are seeking to lead.” He stressed that Obaseki owed the responsibility to safeguard the state and its people against COVID-19 and other situations that may endanger their lives. Shaibu added: “As the Chief Security officer of the state and first among equals, the governor has decided to conduct the affairs of the state in the way that will ensure safety of its citizens. “As of today, Obaseki is the governor of Edo State and has the capacity to determine the direction of the state. That doesn’t amount to fear of failure in facing any election but rather putting the interest of the public above desperation to win an election.” He said Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman Uche Secondus “doesn’t usurp the sovereignty of PDP states.” He said: “The sovereignty of the state can’t be submerged at this critical juncture of our lives. The indirect primary will make it more convenient for INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) to supervise and will be more transparent. Read Also: Five aspirants to battle Obaseki for APC ticket “The APC national chairman is insisting on direct primary because the result of the yet to be conducted direct primary election is already written by him, just waiting to be announced.” Also on Thursday, some Obaseki allies got a June 17 date for arguments in their suit seeking to stop a frontline governorship aspirant Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu from participating in the APC primary. The governor’s sympathisers, had through an ex-parte motion, requested the Edo High Court in Benin to bar Ize-Iyamu but presiding Justice H. Ahaomoje declined and gave them 10 days to file their response. The judge also gave counsel to the plaintiffs/claimants two days to reply. The plaintiffs are: Pastor Kenneth Asekomhe, on behalf of pro-Obaseki Edo APC; Benjamin Oghumu, on behalf of himself and executive committee of the APC in Orhiomwon Local Government Area and Matthew Ogbebor, on behalf of himself and the executive committee of Ugbogbo Wards 5. Joined as defendants are: APC, Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu. Paul Ohonbamu on Thursday resigned from Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration as Edo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation. In his resignation letter, which was addressed yesterday to the governor, Ohonbamu said: “I hereby tender my letter of resignation as a commissioner in Edo State to His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, this 4th day of June, 2020. “Without setting a precedent, I have decided to step aside as cabinet member and operate outside? it for the general good of Edo State and pursuit of happiness for the citizens.” The former information commissioner, a lawyer, said: “Whether we shall meet again I know not. Therefore, our everlasting farewell take. If we do meet, while we shall smile, if not, it is true this parting was well made”. It was gathered that Ohonbamu resigned for being sidelined in the state executive council. Secretary to Edo State Government (SSG) Osarodion Ogie immediately announced Ohonbamu’s replacement. The SSG said: “The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has approved the appointment of Mr. Stewart Efe as Commissioner for Communication and Orientation. His appointment takes immediate effect. |
It's a good move but I believe it is coming very very late & he is giving his opponents an added advantage because he will be seen as a man that is drowning & his looking for way to save himself from drowning. He should swallow his pride & reach out personally to comrade Adams Oshiomhole for genuine reconciliation |
Thanks a lot. I needed this novena prayer before today & you have posted it here. coincidentally June 13th which is the feast day is my birthday |
THERE may be no going back on transparent and democratic primaries for the choice of governorship candidates by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo and Ondo states, it was learnt yesterday. At a meeting with nine APC governors, National Leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu said democratic primary as a core element of internal democracy should not be jettisoned. A source at the meeting held at the State House, Marina, Lagos, said Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos, emphasised the importance of primary to democracy, admonishing party leaders to safeguard it in the preparation for the choice of standard bearers. The Progressives Governors’s Forum, led by Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu, unfolded plans last week to mount pressure on President Muhammadu Buhari to support their push for right of first refusal to two of their colleagues, Ondo State Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) and Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, for the governorship. The polls will hold in Edo in September and Ondo in October. No fewer than 10 chieftains are competing for the ticket in Ondo APC with Akeredolu, who is seeking a second term. In Edo, other contenders have stepped down for Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who is challenging Obaseki at the shadow poll. The Edo governor is also seeking re-election. Last week, National Working Committee (NWC) announced that direct primary will be adopted for the Edo APC shadow poll. At yesterday’s two-hour parley, the following nine governors were in attendance. Bagudu, Obaseki, Akeredolu, Simon Lalong (Plateau), Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Mai Buni(Yobe), Adegboyega Oyetola(Osun), Abubakar Bello(Niger) and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), who was the host. According to the source, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma could not make it due to undisclosed reasons. The governors, who appeared to be in one accord, wanted the party to be fair to their two colleagues, who they said, should not be muscled out. Specifically, the governors wanted Tinubu to prevail on the party leadership to give Obaseki the right of first refusal, the source said. However, Tinubu went to the meeting with the position that it is better, more democratic, constitutionally right and politically defensible that all aspirants should go for primaries to test their popularity, adding that, through that free and fair selection process, the ruling party will successfully build a strong democratic cultur Tinubu, the source said, urged the governors to support the guidelines released by the NWC, maintaining that they are in the interest of the party. Although some of the governors revisited the acrimony and controversy generated by the contrasting perspectives on the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole leadership, which they acknowledged as a battle within battles, Tinubu pointed out that it was normal in political life. Besides, according to the source, the party stalwart counselled that since the conflict had been resolved, stakeholders should put the past behind them and forge ahead in harmony. The source said Asiwaju Tinubu reiterated his belief in fairness to the incumbent governors and other interested governorship aspirants in the two states. The source added: “Asiwaju also said he believed in the direct primary. His argument was that the direct primary will boost the confidence of the flag bearer as he prepares for the main governorship election.” “Asiwaju Tinubu may have intervened in this sensitive nomination matter with a benefit of hindsight because as he rightly pointed out, direct primary produced Oyetola as Osun APC candidate and Babajide Sanwo-Olu as flag bearer in Lagos State. “Besides, I think Asiwaju Tinubu is of the opinion that where there are more than one contender, primary should be adopted to foster equity, fairness and justice.” |
victorDanladi:Good morning. The Governor is the no 1 man in the state does not make him the defacto man in the state. The "separation of power conferred equal power on the 3 arms of government. We had situations where the legislatures have impeached their governors. The Governors are afraid of loosing their grip on the lawmakers & that is why they are not happy with the recently signed executive order of the President because they can no longer withhold the money of other arms of government & use same to be arm twisting them to their favour |
victorDanladi:There is nothing like "the executive still the head" If the legislatures exercises their Constitutional powers the way it is suppose to be utilised, the executive will be afraid of the legislatures especially when a sitting Governor knows that if he viola the law the law makers are ready & willing to impeach him. he will be afraid of the legislatures |
There should be separation of power among the three arms of government & this executive order will seriously help to make sure that the separation of power is practice except the other arms still want to take themselves as inferior arms to the executive |
@OP, your point are not strong enough to say that Edo people should not vote for APC, rather each person should vote for who he or she prefer for the job. After all the 8 years of Lucky Igbinedion (PDP) in Edo state was a wasted years & might even be the reason why Edo indigene keep on rejecting PDP during election time. |
