Are these Igbo criminals responsible for the looting of hundreds of billions of dollar earned by Nigeria in the last four decades? " they will deploy every illegal means (see their overwhelming crimes) to achieve their aim. And if that still does not bring down the competition, now they demand separation!"I am intrigued by your comment about Igbos and crimes. Are you making an emphatic statement that when it comes to Igbos and Yorubas with regards to criminality in Nigeria, Igbos are more criminally minded than your kinsmen? rosebowl01: Good point.
See what I don't get about SE people is admitted, they are driven and hardworking. They are competitive and willing to put in the effort to get results, they have been both a source of pride and curse to the country but:
1. If for their hard work, stats show that they are ahead of others, they don't focus on enjoying and appreciating their rewards, instead they burn through their time mocking others. In other words, their primary motivation for the hard work is just so they can tell you how you are useless, and they are blessed.
2. If for their hard work, stats show that others are still ahead of them, they will start throwing tantrums, blaming everything on God's green earth but themselves. In the end, if they cannot legally and legitimately beat you in a particular industry/economy, out of desperation, they will deploy every illegal means (see their overwhelming crimes) to achieve their aim. And if that still does not bring down the competition, now they demand separation!
3. Given the two above, using the the system, the other populace (especially northerners) has decided to play the game to their advantage and just cheat Igbos also using legitimate and ILLEGITIMATE means to get ahead. This now create double wahala and wailing for Igbos as they now have to constantly and eternally complain of the wrongs and injustices (true in some cases, and false in many others) that is being meted out to them.
In this point raised by the Op, Igbos are good at many things ie Sports, small to medium scale businesses, education, general work ethic and so many others that are too numerous to mention, but they clearly are below the SW in economic terms and developing a society. This has always been the case even before colonial times. Let's learn to appreciate on our strengths and work to improve on our area of weaknesses rather than spend time hating and throwing propaganda, false data etc everywhere.
Thanks. |

They are beating chest instead of asking tough questions like why the company is in the SW to start with.
I don't even know why they think ibo related businesses in the SW are doing the SW a favor when in fact it's strictly business decisions based on so many factors, factors that rule out investment decisions in the SE. |

Why this "I better pass my neighbour" fight between the Igbos and Yorubas - two ethnic groups that ought to be leading light of Black Race and African had British colonialism not lumped them together in a mere geographical expression? Are these parameters the true test of the capacity and capability of these two ethnic groups/region? Is it fair to even draw economic comparison between the SW and SE given the fact that the SE region and its economy where completely erased during the 30-month civil war and most instructively, the post-Biafra political and economic paradigm that emerged centralized the commanding heights of economy to the exclusive benefit of SW? In a failed entity like Nigeria, what is the glory in having the biggest IGR .....? Has it reflected on the life of the indigenes in those states? Iblad0994: Yes the total debt shows the SW owes more than the SE.
I created the thread to debunk the earlier stance of some guys on the other thread that the SW owe far more debt (like double or triple) compared to the SE. On that thread they depict that all the SW states owes more debt individually than the SE states which is false because they only look at external debt.
Looking at this thread you will see that Abia and Imo owes more debt than Ogun and Oyo when you look at it as a whole, but the other thread suggested that Ogun owes more debt than them because they purposely use only the domestic debt for the metrics.
Ondo and Oyo IGR exceed that of any SE states, whereas the former lies propagated by some Igbo guys was that Anambra generate more IGR than the SW excluding Lagos.
@your bolded statement, what do you mean by the population of people living in the SW? Is IGR only dependent on population? That means Kano, Kaduna, and Katsina should have the highest IGR going by your analogy.
I will continue to say this, the SW is a region that is successful and believe in silent achievements, Ogun state will soon overcome rivers state in IGR generating in the next 5 years if we judge by the growth trajectory of Ogun.
Even Ondo state is doing really fine, it got high IGR and low debt. If Dangote had situated his refinery in Ondo state, then that state would have been the new bride of the SW after Ogun. |

Politics › Re: “yoruba Men, Benjamin Adekunle & Obsanjo Won The Biafran War For Nigeria” — Reno by Uchek(m): 7:41pm On Jul 26, 2019 |
YorubaHero12: Well let me reply your question based on my own subjective reasoning.
1. Yoruba joined the war when the Biafra military advanced to Ore and had their eyes on the takeover of Lagos, so the Yorubas gotta defend our territory.
2. Well as at that time, the Yoruba founding fathers thought that Nigeria would have been good staying as one coz things are not bad like this. Remeber pre war, Awolowo built the first stadium, first TV station, first skyscraper, free education and so on. So Yoruba do not have much incentive or reason to breakout of Nigeria.
3. Well the question depends. Although I will say based on my own subjective reasoning, the Yoruba nation would have been better if we have our own separate Oduduwa country. So you may be right by your theory in the third question.
But I want you to understand that each tribe has their motive and way of engaging situations, the Yorubas believe in strategic analysis of situation and always exhibit some form of restraints to situation before reaching a decision. Whether Oduduwa republic will come will depend on a lot of consensus among the Yoruba people and before then we will strive to succeed in the union called Nigeria.
I hope you get your Biafra soon tho coz a whole people cannot be held against their will in a union. Just that you’re using an ineffective means to advocate for the Biafran succession. Time will tell tho Yoruba joined the war when the Biafra military advanced to Ore and had their eyes on the takeover of Lagos, so the Yorubas gotta defend our territory.Thats not true. I want to give you a second chance to educate yourself and acknowledgehistorical facts. To help you the first shot was fired by Federal Force on July 6, 1967 in the then Ogoja province. Was Awolowo a civilian or part of the Gowon's administration? When did Biafra march into Ore enroute Lagos? |

YorubaHero12: Lol, your reply sound too incoherent for me to make sense of it to give you a dignifying reply.
War is a situation where maximum force is used against the opponent, war is not a place where you give biscuit and Pepsi to your opponent. In war you crush the enemy with every tactics you can get, whether by alliance or by tactical approach and that’s what the Nigerian army did.
There are lot of foreign mercenaries that supported Biafra and I have supported that fact with reference on the third page of this thread. Ojukwu was like Nnamdi Kanu then, he started the war through propaganda and he was all around the place granting interviews to international news channel lying that he will crush the federal government and get Biafra in small time.
I know the Nigerian army did wrong coz they crushed you guys in your millions, but seeing the current generation of Igbos and how they behave made me understood that what the Nigerian army did back then has some justification. You guys chestbeat a lot and claim superiority with propaganda while in reality you are NOTHING.
If the war had continued without Ojukwu surrendering the Igbos would have been exterminated coz the war is already genocide coz you stood no chance.
Your grandfathers will tell you about the heroic display of the mighty Yorubas within the federal army and the tactical approach Awolowo employed to make the war end so soon, or else the Hausa army is bent on killing you all to the last man.
Hairy chest beaters that surrendered without any option. Your territory got reduced to just 5 small states and economic power given to the south south. You’ve been slaves in nigeria since then coz you are always asking for liberation from the union. Even Ijaw learnt that when Dokubo termed a whole Igbo tribe his Slave.s. Why did Yorubas fight the war? Why did Awolowo join the north to fight against Biafra instead of fighting for the freedom of Yorubas from the geographical expression called Nigeria? Why didn't Awolowo - and Yoruba nation - allow the Igbos and the northerners to settle their political enmity? Is the Yoruba nation better off today in post-Biafra Nigeria than they would have been in post-Biafra Oduduwa Republic? |

Is that all you can offer? My question for you: If Nigeria had practiced true federalism or if Biafra had survived as an independent nation, are you saying that that multinational companies - particularly the oil companies - doing business in defunct South East/Biafra would have their headquarters in Lagos instead of South East/Biafra where their oil prospecting and drilling activities occur? Second, if it is about having a different kind of attitude that allows business to thrive, why have Yorubas not replicated the miracle of Lagos in other south western states like Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti , Ondo and Osun? I tire for your analysis - a supposedly educated and informed Nigerian. tete7000: While you might seem to make some seemingly valid point, you have to realise there are reasons why that has not happened and might not happen anytime soon. It is about people in other areas having a different kind of attitude, attitude that allows business opportunities to thrive just like op mentioned. People often claim that it is political gang up that made Lagos develop to the detriment of other places but when you realise that no one can hold you captive without your consent, then we begin to realise there will be need for attitudinal change in others for the development being sought to come. The multinationals did not just find themselves in Lagos for no reason, it is because the place provides the peaceful and business-conducive environment they desire. Even you won't dare to set up your business in a highly restive and violent area. |
