MegaPlayBoy:Destroying the SIM won't save you from trouble either, since you've already registered it imputting your biodata. Report the issue to both MTN and Access bank. Make it clear that you want the alerts to stop. Make your report in writing, probably through customer care emails, so that you can keep documented proof of the complaints and their response. In a more civilised clime, someone can sue MTN for this kind of embarrassment and get good compensation for it. They should format an old number very well before reselling it as a new SIM. |
Well thought out moral instruction. A safe, secure and well behaved society begins from homes. |
This is setting the pace and being the blue print. If wishes were horses, this commissioner should become Nigeria's Minister of Education and the governor should become president overnight. |
Ketamine9000mg:MS can only work well when written. As for pronunciation, you will find yourself saying MISS instead. OP is right anyway, Somehow, these things matter a lot to women. |
How is it possible that schools that are closed will start admissions? JAMB is somehow ordering all schools to reopen. Let's wait till Ministry of Education replies to this. |
When will we stop being spiteful of other ethnic groups in this country? Crime and criminals exist everywhere in the world, so far as there are human beings there. Also, unless you focus on yourself, build yourself and become good at what you do, you cannot truly rise by bringing others down. Lastly, nairaland is also internet. Over ninety percent of decisions are taken based on perception, whether it's the actual fact or not. When other countries embarrass us by denying us visa among other numerous embarrassments, it is because of how they perceive us. Nowadays, the major ingredient backing perception is what appears on the net and how we react to them. Similar crimes also happen all over the world, but we keep watching our dirty linen in public. |
Earlier today, I received Facebook friend request from "Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka". I felt the fake-ness of it and blocked whoever it was. Anyway, the court should remove those harsh bail conditions. The boy did not loot public treasury. |
For the teens and early twenties, you will live long if you will be able to BEWARE of the following: 1. Friends, 2. Alcohol. 3. Women (if you are male) 4. Men ( if you are female) Most senseless crimes revolve around them or are motivated by them. Yes, the bible says you should also BEWARE of love of money, but you will not join cult, armed robbery gang or prostitution if you don't keep, depend on or reveal everything to friends. If you are able to avoid or limit alcoholic drinks, your brain will always be at alert and nobody will lead you into a way or part in which you cannot be able to turn back before it is too late. I need not talk about "BEWARE of the opposite gender". The culprit in the story of this thread killed his friend because he knew exactly where to get and sleep with women of easy virtue. Above all, learn to pray always. You don't have to be a born again Christian before you kneel down and talk to God. God himself sees you as his child way back before you take that decision. A concerned uncle of mine gave me the above advice when he heard that I got admitted to university. After not doing well, i.e. not meeting my own standards in 100 level performance, I remembered this advice, applied it and it worked wonders. I am still thanking that uncle years after graduating. I hope it works for many of our youth out there. |
Kei144:Private school is private school; be it nursery, primary, secondary or university. The school is still a private school whether it is owned by a Mission ( Islamic or Christian schools owned by already handicapped religious bodies occasioned by long closure of churches and mosques ) or they are the ones owned by individual proprietors who claim the association of private school owners. I have read through the whole thread to see how a common teacher in self isolation at his or her home can easily apply for this loan and get it, but I am yet to see it. So please, someone should quote me when the good vice president makes the application method or link public. |
Vivikema:let FG open them first. The heat will shift to ASUU. |
Daploid06:In other words, they are planning to continue import and export of Coronavirus from where they stopped it. |
proffemi:Mention one market in Nigeria that fulfils all these requirements, yet the same students frequent them, |
proffemi:Another point of mine which you didn't grasp is that NCDC data, which you mentioned, has continued to increase in Nigeria even though schools are closed. Whether schools are opened now or not, the data will continue to increase. Your opinion that our students don't obey the rules is reflective of the general society. How many of us (adults) obey COVID19 prevention guidelines? Our children are simply copying us, but it's not too late to begin to correct them, especially by our own behavioral examples. Now that schools are closed, how many of us (parents/guardians) ensure that the same children stay at home without going out to visit and play with friends? It seems we suddenly begin to over-emphasize the dangers of contracting the virus immediately schools are mentioned. The same students visit markets everyday and we all know the situation in our markets. Mind you, the virus originated from a market in Wuhan, Hubei province in China, NOT from a school. So the continued increase in confirmed cases in both Nigeria (where schools are still closed) and in Israel (where schools reopened) can not be blamed on schools alone. I put it on the general behavior of the populace. Leaving sentiments out it, let us not continue to punish our schools for what is non of their fault. Even WHO has analysed the situation and came out with a statement that COVID19 may never go away. It is up to us to devise safe ways of living with it. That is why God gave us brains. Assuming the virus stays for the next five years, I am sure you won't keep a WAEC candidate at home for that long waiting for when the virus will go away. The earlier we start thinking, the better it will be for all of us. |
proffemi:My point is that we should not delay the normal progression of school pupils because we are afraid of what might happen at one or two schools where the principal and staff might fail to make their students abide by the safety guidelines. Any principal or teacher who knows the worth of his onion should be able to order all students, and even parents to wear their face covering before they approach their office or staff roomc, not to talk of entering the school compound. If many students or staff test positive at such schools, it should be shut down. They then write SSCE next year and probably continue regular classes after two, three or four weeks during which disinfection procedure must have taken place. As for who is at risk of dying of the virus; I think everybody is at risk. The older ones are at higher risk, but there are reports of people below 10 years of age who also died. So everyone should take all the necessary precautions. |
proffemi:i guess your WASSCE candidate kids have been staying indoors observing all COVID19 Safety measures. If so, I congratulate you for doing a good job keeping them so. Honestly, the ones I see around my area are different, so much that I strongly opine that going back to school is safer for them during this period. Secondly, if they didn't die of COVID19 over the last few months after carelessly mixing up with people without protection, I don't think they will suddenly die at school. Nevertheless, a parent is free to keep his/her children at home till when he feels it is safe for them to join the rest at school. Allow those who are ready to risk it the opportunity to do so. On Israel, their situation is truly becoming messier, but schools are still open. The authorities close schools where students test positive. We can do the same over here. |
proffemi:Nobody will die. Let's stop putting it into the equation. What we ask for is SAFE reopening of schools. That's all. School is better regimented than other places that have reopened so far. For instance, it is easy for school management to order all students to wear face covering before they enter the premises and they all have to obey it. |
Conrod:As far as COVID19 is concerned, Nigeria should not be compared to the US anymore. Take a look at the daily new infection reports over there. This is July. The virus has been here for four months, yet no dead bodies lying in the streets of Africa as was projected. Besides, the US can and has been running their schools online, even doing virtual graduation ceremonies, while most of our students are idling about. This decision of the South West governors is quite commendable, especially where they mentioned plans to invest in Education Technology. That's what post COVID19 should be. If we had the tech before now, WASSCE exams could have been computer based and classes would have reopened online. |
Vicksvico:Dial *894# Read and follow instructions until you see "Request for account number". It will be sent to you shortly afterwards. |
I lack words to comment here. It's painful, but God knows the best. |
The solution to this problem is to allow safe reopening of schools. The association has already divided the money (even before receiving it) according to those that are eligible to receive the money and those who are not. Even among those that will receive it, how long will it last? |
Adamu Adamu, just be straight to the point: are we still having WAEC SSCE from 4th August? What dates are we looking at for reopening schools? Many people are already confused. Don't add to the confusion. The effort put into drafting these guidelines is quite commendable. It's no longer news that COVID19 is on earth to spend a long time. So, the earlier we started thinking of how to live and survive with it, the better for all of us. After reopening, schools where many students and staff test positive should be closed again for some time. That will make other schools' management, staff and students to enforce the guidelines if they want to avoid closure. |
jaxxy:Not possible in Nigeria for now. Besides, we should think of starting online shopping as well, so as to deconggest our markets. |
They should do "Pay Per View" not only "Pay As You Go". Somebody should not pay for 200 channels when he watches only 5 out of them. With "Pay Per View", you can pay for Channel 224 only and watch SuperSports WWE Extreme Rules on July 19 without being forced to pay for over 200 channels just for one program. I hope DSTv is also browsing Nairaland and taking adequate notes. These things are obtainable in their home nation. |
If the man knew, he would have applied for visa to go live in Nigeria long ago. |
olawoyin2020:obviously, Adamu is out of tune with current affairs. He probably thought we are still in March or April. |
We’re Confused By FG’s U-Turn On WAEC – ANCOPPS PRINCIPALS of secondary schools nationwide under the aegis of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) have also expressed surprise over Minister of Education, Mr Adamu Adamu’s announcement on Wednesday withdrawing all the SS3 students in all the 104 Federal Government colleges nationwide from participating in the forthcoming West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) being conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). It said the association was fully represented at the education stakeholders’ meetings on Tuesday where they were all voluntarily agreed that WAEC could go ahead with its pending exam with all safety guidelines and protocols applied. The national president of the association, Mr Anselm Izuagie, said this in an exclusive interview with Tribune Online on Thursday, noting that the sudden twist by the government on the exam is still baffling them more than 24 hours after the minister’s pronouncement. He said both the Federal and various state government had representatives at the said meeting with the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, as the chairman. He added, “The representatives of WAEC, National Examinations Council (NECO) and the National Board for Technical Education (NABTE) and other critical stakeholders in the sector were also in attendance. “We all reviewed and considered the safety of everyone who would be involved in the exam and promised that all hands would be on deck to ensure no lapses is recorded only for the minister to announce the contrary the following day. That is why the news is shocking to us and also confusing. “But all the same, we ANCOPPS will meet tomorrow with the NUT to review the whole issue and take position and make it public. https://tribuneonlineng.com/were-confused-by-fgs-u-turn-on-waec-ancopps/ |
SirWarlock:All the worries you expressed here are the reasons why Nigeria's pledge ends with "So help me God". Yout comment presupposes that the children are all at their homes right now observing all the safety measures; which is not true. Despite going out every day and mixing up with people, nobody is even testing them for COVID19 and they are still alive. |
So far as Nigeria can not do the China type of effective lockdown, the children should be allowed to write the exams. I used to support complete lockdown, but obviously, Nigeria doesn't have the capability to do it. |
9jayes:Must we copy other countries all the time? Even if we want to copy, won't we copy those that are more progressive than us? The USA has lost more people to COVID19 than any other country in the world, yet, at the same time and day our minister of Education was talking about stopping our children from writing exams, the US president was ordering all schools to open. Mind you, we are not yet talking about opening schools, we are still discussing about allowing SS3 students write exams. An Average SS3 student is between 15 To 18 years old and should understand all COVID19 safety measures by now. Besides, if we want to tell ourselves the whole truth, we should ask ourselves where and what are these children doing right now. In answer, many of those that can afford it attend lessons in the morning hours, where there is no physical distancing, neither do they wear face masks. In the evening, almost all of them go out to mingle with their friends, play and watch football. They should use the time to write the exam instead of wasting it. My conclusion once again, unless we are able to do the China type of total lockdown that will be effective, it is complete waste of time holding anybody back from what they should be doing. So far, we all know how Nigerians observe COVID19 prevention guidelines. I see NCDC releasing new confirmed cases for the next three years. So, our children will continue to wait for that long? There is a reason why Nigeria's national Pledge ends with the line: "So help me God". |
AfonjaConehead:Even some nine month pregnant women are strong enough to drive themselves to the hospital on the day of delivery, seamlessly do the delivery before calling their husband who had left for work as usual on phone to inform him about the news. How strong a women is during pregnancy is an individual thing. It's a kind of favor and blessing from God. |
JONNYSPUT Pick your wife and marry her again for the crowning. Maybe, the deity thought that you are still single. |
Mr. Keyamo, I wish that members of the committees will be like you. Your conscience is obviously clear, but sadly, the compromise will still occurr at a point in the process, irrespective of who the members of those committees are. |
. Now Nigeria? How are you going to reopen when those students are being exposed to corona is a hoax? How about WAEC shenanigans? School outbreaks happens, how will necessary steps be mobilised? US can risk it and open schools knowing they have the capacity to handle it(and it hasn't worked well for them).
