N20k? Somebody should ask Labor Minister to talk about the lawful minimum wage in this country when he speaks again. About the selection process, so far as the beneficiaries are going to be handpicked, it is going to be a "who knows who" thing and politicians know politicians. In the end, no streets will be swept and the monies will still be pocketed. |
COVID19 has a way of exposing people who don't practise what they preach. See Govt that locked us down with long list of safety measures. Now COVID19 result has shown that they never kept any of those measures, |
Assuming this proposal pushes through, it means little children will be left at home with no one to look after them. |
This is why we also need to be praying for our pastors. They are also human and can be tempted. Some negative forces might have instigated this kind of talk. The fact that it was deleted proves that the video was later seen as a kind of mistake. Pastor Chris Oyakilome is indeed a great man of intelligence. Though not a member of his church, I still watch his teachings once in a while. We are all facing challenging times and pastors are also in it with us. |
Going by the comments made so far, most people believe NCDC intentionally increase the numbers for some selfish reasons. Actually, I think the opposite is the case. They are under-reporting it. Look at the numbers tested daily. There is no way we can capture the true picture with such few tests done daily. China tests over a million people everyday in Beigein alone. The results from the Northern states seem encouraging nowadays. I agree with those who say that many yet-to-be tested Nigerians may have had and survived the disease. We will never discover such people since NCDC don't do anti-body tests, like they do in other nations. But still, we should not throw caution to the winds. There is nothing to lose by keeping all the safety measures while lockdown is being eased. Soon, airports will open and perhaps, international flights will resume. I pray for those in charge, that they will be more careful at the airports. More careful than they were when that Index case Italian man man entered Nigeria. So far, we have weathered the storm. Let's not import more. |
Charly68:This will require every school to get ambulance, won't it? Infrared thermometers should be among the medcal equipment that's mentioned already. These requirements are even simpler than I imagined. The major requirements here are isolation center and enough medicines/medical gear. A school that can't afford to build a new isolation center should improvise one. For example, vacate one hall of residence or hostel and make it the isolation center. Also, a room close to it should be stocked with the necessary medicines. It's that simple. I expected that they might have asked every school to build COVID19 test center and make sure every lecture/teacher and student have functioning laptops so they won't have crowded class rooms. For now, anything to kick start schools is welcome. They will improve as time goes on. |
Angrace:Those parents have been sending there children to do Lessons at the home of some teachers in their neighbourhood. Such parents would rather prefer to have their children attend a regulated school than having them at lessons. |
Whoever pulls that plug is the one that killed him, not COVID19. Are they forcing him to die? After all, there was a story of a Chinese doctor who survived and turned black after spending months on life support. |
Adunny07 I advise you not to complain about chores while in your sister's home. It's understandable as your complaint now is that you are not feeling well. The things you are strong enough to do are the ones you can only do. After all, you do them all when you are fine. Just endure whatever she says. It's her home. Besides, you should not lose focus of what you are in Abuja to do. Try and get busy with it. Search for job openings, submit applications and attend interviews. When you are less busy, visit your parents. Then return to your sister when you have an interview or something else to do in Abuja. I wish you the best of luck. |
Chige777:Read your question above again. You are fully aware that she is already engaged. Do you pray that their planned marriage will fail? Your conscience is already telling you that what you are doing is man's wickedness to fellow man, but you don't want to accept it. That is why you posted it here. In conclusion, do onto others as you will have them do onto you. |
Dexa will never stop shocking us. Originally anti-inflammatory drug, later used by herdsmen to fatten their cows. Later, girls who wanted to add flesh, especially front and back side, rushed it. Now, COVID19 is bowing to it. Come to think of it, if it can save one out of every five on life support, then it can prevent and stop people from getting to life support in the first place. Medics over to you. Nobody should do self medication. |
donbachi:irrespective of what she says, her brother is still in charge. So, she is making empty threats. I think North Korea is using her to get attention, especially as they feel Pres. Trump has used and dumped them. Somehow! |
bigtimemugu:OP, you answered yourself here. Your soul is telling you not to settle for the present job; and at the same time, it is telling you not to move to the new job for obvious reasons. So, stay in the present job and look for another opportunity that might guarantee a better peace of mind. |
This president died because he didn't believe in COvid19 and he didn't do anything about it. The story reminds of a CNN report about a US pastor who died after he refused to shut down his church during the lockdown. Coronavirus seems determined to go after people who don't believe in its existence. |
Patents go to work. Children stay at home, idle doing nothing. Devil gives work called rape to idle mind. More is happening out there than we read in the news. Parents work in other sectors that are now open, while children "work" in Education sector which is left behind. Sorry to the victims, but it is bound to be on the increase, if we don't find ways of keeping our children busy till the time we return from work. |
SirWarlock:Schools that are shut will still be reopened after decontamination and staff and students cleared of the virus. They won't stay closed for ever. So far as Nigeria and Nigerians can not do the China type of total lockdown, it is waste of time keeping healthy people and school children at home. We simply lack the discipline to do effective lockdown. The school children are still walking up and down despite their schools being closed. COVID19 may be here till 2025, judging by our behavior and lack of discipline. I went out yesterday with a face mask, and people kept telling me to remove it, that Coronavirus has finished. Imagine that. COVID19 may not go away from some countries in the next ten years. The only compromised solution to solving the issue of reopening schools is to increase the capacity to test so that COVID19 is detected quicker. Communities and even schools that can afford it, should be allowed to build test centers. Thankfully, children are known to survive the virus. |
Before doing anything about this situation, find out the customs and traditions of your people about it? If you don't know it already, go to other elders of your town or even your village head. When a man dies without a will in your town, who inherits his properties? There must be a tradition on it. |
In South Africa, schools opened today. The news in this thread stated that NINE schools were shut in Israeli, not all schools, and over six thousand students and teachers isolated. Nigerian school children, who are supposed to be at home, are busy roaming their streets, visiting friends, playing football in the evenings and some even attending lessons organized by neighbourhood teachers. And we say,"Our schools are closed." Israeli is able to trace COVID19 To some schools, shut the schools and isolate students. If any of the Nigerian school children who are roaming the streets tests positive today, where will the tracing and isolation begin, and where will they end? |
Proverbs 22 vs 3: "A wise person sees trouble from afar and hides; while a foolish person continues until he falls victims." This quotation is for those that are still waiting to see someone who knows someone that knows someone before they believe that COVID19 is real. Bible has said it all. |
CodeTemplar:i'm also in support of lockdown, but people flouted it while it lasted; so much that it made no sense continuing it. Inter-state lockdown is not being obeyed as we speak. The most important fact right now is that the state has the capacity to treat those who test positive. |
Since they said that catching Coronavirus is not a death sentence, all the safety measures have collapsed in my area. You will look like a foreigner, if you wear face mask in the streets. The children, boys and girls, that were stopped from going to school for fear of contracting the virus, now converge every evening at a playground to play football and woo one another, thereby jettisoning social distancing. I'm sure that nobody in this area watches hands nowadays because of Covid19. They watch them when they feel to do so for other normal reasons. Hand sanitizers are out of the question. So, the sense in any remaining form of lock down or lock up should also collapse. |
Abominable acts like these are the reason why Coronavirus will never go away. Even if Coronavirus ends, another one worse than it will start and it will consume those who commit these acts. The virus will not kill people who have clean hands. |
They will all get discharged. Somehow. |
Find out one or more things he likes and allow him to do them. If you and other people have been making uncomplimentry remarks about him, he may think that the whole world see him as unfit and that explains why he won't go out to mix up with people nor play football. Academics, though important, is not the only way to develop human brain. Try and introduce him to simple games that involve only one or two persons, such as puzzle game, brick game, snake and ladder game, ludo game, ncho , scrable game, table tennis, badminton, etc. Since he likes sitting in one place, put TV in front of him and allow him to choose the channel to be watched. Allow him to watch them even if it is cartoons. These extracurricular activities will develop his brain gradually. |
[quote author=boookworm post=90105047]What happened to all the mysterious deaths in Kano, they have just stopped all of a sudden. And now, people are no longer falling sick and dying mysteriously in Kano, they are even recording 6 cases in 2 days with that large popul. /quote] kano government and people used number six to solve the problem. Many covid19 positive people were sent away from the state in the name of Almajirais. Then many Northerners travelled to the South where they tested positive and recorded against the names of such states. For example, 26 out the cases in Imo state are Northern travellers. The same goes for many Southern states, and even Northern states. Assuming all the cases were discovered and recorded in Kano, Kano should have more cases than Lagos by now. Kano should continue testing so as to prevent a second wave. |
In addition to many of the recommendations here, you should not join those who sigh and walk away when your daddy changes the TV channel to NTA news at 9p.m. or Channels TV news at 10. Stay there and listen to the news. |
Success is good. Before now, nobody knew that Apolo Crews had anything to do with Nigeria. Anyway, the defeat is good for Andraide. Zelina Vega has finished sapping all his strength. |
The recent approval for Imo people to organize burial ceremonies has started speaking. Markets, banks and offices may have been open before now. They don't attract people from outside the state. For a burial ceremony to hold, people may have to travel from epicenter states just to attend it, |
What I don't grasp here is what the police is still investigating in the matter. It is straight forward. All the wrongs the girl did was to avoid her family. Advise her on the right way to do it and release her. |
Okay! Who will stay at the church/mosque door to count the number of people that already entered? When the number is up to fifty, who will stop others from entering? They should make better agreements, such as finding ways to hold religious leaders accountable when their members test positive to Covid19. Such bodies or their branch should be closed down for a specified length of time. Also, it should be made an offence not to report anybody with covid19, symptoms or no symptoms, to the authorities. The only thing that will make people to keep the Covid19 safety measures is if their religious/community leaders preach them and force it on them regularly. |
Number 1 should have been: If the girl is the type that demands for money for everything. Every reasonable responsible guy makes a budget for his expenses. After the girl has collected what is assigned for her in the budget and forms the habit of continuous demand for more, it calls for serious snubbing especially when you are not yet her husband. |
Any hotel that opens its doors to people that might probably have Covid19 at this time has made a huge sacrifice for those people. The price of such service won't be cheap. So our home bound country men and women abroad should try and meet up with it. Besides, FG can make alternative isolation center for those who can't afford the hotel at places like NYSC camps. That way, they pay for food and transport fare only. Other countries do the same or even worse. It surprised me earlier today when Aljazeera reported a Kenyan man who paid hospital bill after being treated of Covid19. The man works as a driver for the isolation center where he was treated; yet he paid the bill. His problem which was the focus of the report was that his neighbours stigmatize against him after he recovered. Covid19 might become an expensive illness with time. It's better to avoid/prevent it. |
