NYSC / Re: A thread for corpers posted to Taraba by uglyBetty1(f): 5:51pm On Mar 04, 2013
I served in Jalingo in 2005/2006 set and it was fun. when we entered camp, we heard stories like there was a local Govt. called snake island where they post corpers. After everything there was none like that. I served in Jalingo, in the Ministry of justice Library. Then In Jalingo the main problem there was light. A state capital where you can hardly see light, even if PHCN manage to bring light, na one hour the thing go stay. I remembered their round houses that we used to call 'Channel O' or 'Skirt and blouse' because of the mud house and the thatch roof. There underdevelopment is another issue. one major street, Hamarunna way is what the state capital can boost of.

Those days in camp and in Jalingo after camp were really fun. For intending corpers, please try and stick with your corp members and visit each other. If you arrive camp earlier there is National association of catholic corp (NACC) members to guide you. Also there is NCCF too. they can house you until camp opens. make sure you don't carry too much load to camp unless you intend not come back after camp. The food there at the camp was nothing to write home about. You can visit mammy market for your foods, then visit club zero one for your drinks and for familiarization. That is where you meet all those NYSC officials that can help you with your posting. You can also join in the camp football or platoon team. i think they are also given preference during practice. Try and stay in Takum (Enough yam dey there) Jalingo or wukari, Adokola is also near.

Enjoy your stay and welcome to the land of 'Baa Trunich" ( I don't understand English)

Travel / Re: ABC Transport - Passengers Beware! by uglyBetty1(f): 4:51pm On Dec 29, 2012
Hmmmmm, I have been travelling with ABC transport from PH to Enugu for long. I had one experince with them, the bus we were travelling in had no AC and the passengers insisted that the bus would go to Owerri and that we should be given another bus because some ppl said they were allergic to dust. We got to owerri, after series of delay we were given another bus. Why I like Abc is because they don't speed but I can't take ABC on a long journey to places like Lagos or Abuja because I know I will definetly sleep on d road.

ABC has it's up and down but it's good for road travel, but if you are in a hurry, don't use ABC.

I heard he is not dead but he has been sick for some time. Unconfirmed source said he has been suffering from kidney and liver related issues and a transplant had been done but it didn't work due to tissue problem or so.

I pray he survives this, he is the best Governor Enugu state has had so far.

wow, this is bad.

that's very serious.

wont this affect food supply in the long run?

It's going to affect food supply in d long run because of the washed farm lands. Even now the price of beans in d market is something else. It's now food for the rich. Now think of what will happen next year, and if Sanusi still surfaces with dt N5000 issue. Na God go save us.

Except if we do dry season farming. It can help sha.

I also love Checkmate, used to love RMD then and dt stiff Ego Boyo. Danddy, and lots more that I can't remember. Even Oge Umuaka, for those of us that grew up in Enugu. I hate 9'O'clock news then. It was only newsline that I love watching because it was like flim to me those days because it used to show events.
