arsenal33: cant you see swesterners flocking to that side?
at least we have the head of ndigbo here in ekiti? You guys have just never travelled to the South East to see for yourself There are plenty Yorubas and Hausa and others living in the SE, especially in Onitsha, Enugu, Aba and funny enough, even Ebonyi state. They are selling plastics and making millions in Ochanja, and you will even see more of them in Ogbefere and Ogbarod markets. The Hausa are also here doing cool business at bida road, and even in Gariki in Enugu state, doing bureau de change and other things And to cure the ignorance of some of you here, the South East is the most densely populated part of the country, with tens of millions living here and doing well for themselves Do a tour across the South east, seeing is believing But what do we have here? A bunch of people who have never travelled wide sit in one corner and make baseless assumptions about a place they have not been to. |

scholes0: Me too nko? I am facing the same issues. The South West is by far the largest consumer market in Nigeria. In Biafraland , who do I want to be selling okrika cloth and my pirated CD disks to? is it wawa or Imo people who are all average civil servants or Ebonyi people who are as poor as church rats?
What is Nnamdi and co planning to do to keep the more than 20 million Igbos youth that will be heading back to SE occupied? by then, the era of village rallies and shouting "Afonja" all over the street would have been long gone. The SW or just Lagos? Because I don't see how Ogun, Osun, Ekiti or even Ondo states can have a bigger consumer market than Anambra or Abia Anyways is it not Nairaland Anybody can open his mouth and say anything |

Travel › Re: Bribe Collection At Murtala Muhammed International Airport by Ugosample(m): 11:12am On Aug 22, 2017 |
claremont: A Tip is different from a bribe. A tip is given AFTER a meal at a restaurant, and it's not compulsory to give a tip in order to get a good service. Anyone who has been to a restaurant in America will know that tips are designed to reward good service by waiters/waitresses, they are not mandatory to get good service. It doesn't just apply to restaurants, tips are normal in all service delivery sectors in most advanced societies (exception of the UK) e.g. I gave a tip to a taxi driver when I visited America, the taxi driver was a naturalized American originally from Edo state, Nigeria.
On the other hand, what we do in Nigeria is a bribe. A bribe is given PRIOR to service been obtained, and it's mandatory in order to get good service and/or expedite normal service delivery. That's corruption, an example of a broken society is one in which the police require you to ''drop a little sontin'' in order for them to investigate a crime perpetuated against you.
Tips and bribes are two very different things, no reason to misconstrue either as being the same as the other. Thank you so much for setting that straight |

Aufbauh: Onneh, subtlety to me should be part of politicking and politics. The notion of being used and dump is a function of individual perception. This is because a lot of middle beltans have benefited politically, socially and otherwise from our friendship with the core North more than any region in the country. From political office holders to civil servants either military or paramilitary.
As for the war, it was a necessary evil then, borne out of the collective goal of keeping the country one. See this one |

gozzlin: Guy, seriously, you're the one that needs to make use of the gray matter in your cranial cavity. You're obviously one of the misguided dimwits who think money grows on trees in Europe.
Someone obviously without education, without skills other than the ability to sweep and lacking in knowledge of the Italian language, spends all his life savings and travels all the way to Italy with the vain hope of making it there. And you say he'll earn more money from sweeping in Italy?
They're not even doing a paid job, just voluntarily sweeping, hoping kind-hearted individuals will 'dash' them money. Literally begging. And you think it's better than remaining in Nigeria? You sure need your head examined. I am not for or against immigrarion, but what you should ask yourself is that if Nigeria was that good for many, will they be risking their life crossing the Mediterranean? Nigeria is an evil country to most of its citizens, and that is why millions are fleeing every year. And if you are human, you should at least sympathise with that fact. And to suggest that they should even be sweeping in Benin, when the pay will not even last a week is even more disingenuous of you. |
