Rossikk:
You misunderstand my position. I am not here to placate anyone's ego. Igbos are economically DEPENDENT on the rest of Nigeria. That is a plain fact as clear as day. A visit to Alaba market in Lagos is all you need to convince you. You cannot compare it with the level of OTHER Nigerian ethnic groups migrating around the country. Igbos are the Number 1 migrants of Nigeria by an absolute mile. There is no contest.

NOW, when such a group decides they wish to SECEDE from the federation, it is a very serious matter, with huge implications for that group. Where is the evidence that Ipob have thought through those implications? In all their agitation, I have never seen a single policy paper on the way their new republic will be run, or survive. No indication of how they will respond to Nigeria's retaliatory measures. No research, No studies, No projections, NOTHING. Tell me, Don't they have any scholars in their ranks? Don't they have any educated people? Where is the intellectual basis upon which their agitation is built? All I see is a bunch of unschooled riff raff running around, making noise and agitating for things they know nothing about. It cannot end well.
You have obviously not been to the eastern part of Nigeria.

Go there and see for yourself, then you will change your view.

You talk of Alaba; D grin grin

The British are one of the biggest migratory people on the earth, does that mean that there are not migrants in Britain too?
That your view is one sided, because as I said before, there are millions of other tribes making a living in the SE as well.

Rossikk:
You say all this but yet, Igbos are the biggest settlers outside their own territory in the history of human existence.

You say this, even as millions of Igbos are settled across Nigeria, quietly earning their living.

A people more dependent on their neighbours, economically, than any other group in Nigeria.

Yet you're agitating against those benefits you're getting.

Even right now, you can all vote with your feet, and return back to the East en masse, right now, even without any official declaration of secession, since you love your region so much, and hate the Nigerian 'zoo' so much.

Yet you don't.

You remind me of a drunk who claims he is ''now sober'', while staggering and holding a bottle of gin to his head.

@Rossikk I have noticed you over the years on this forum, and I like your pan African stance, and the fact that you are not an empty head like some others here, even tho I don't always agree with your views.

That said, just like you, I believe that the country should remain, but what I disagree with is that condescending stance you are taking, about how Igbo people depend on the rest of Nigeria, and how you are painting Igbo land as probably a place that is the most backward or something

That stance is not true.

First, in that same Igbo land, there are millions of non indigened settled across Igbo land (and foreigners too)so don't look at Igbo land as one down cast place
Even that talk of Igbo settling everywhere, other tribes in Nigeria are known to settle across the country, a visit to Jos, Kano, Kaduna, Abuja, Port Harcourt, even Soloto city/town and uyo show you that people from across the country settle in these places (Yoruba people in their millions are settled outside Yoruba land as well in Nigeria, and the same can be said of Aboki too)

Second, disintegration of this country into bits will make ALL regions worse off, because the economies of scale we enjoy as a unit will now turn to diseconomies of scale.

We all need each other, so nobody should feel that he is up there while others are beneath.

aribisala0:
Clearly your knowledge of logic and arithmetic is poor.
WHAT MATTERS IN OUR ELECTIONS FIRST IS SPREAD NOT AGGREGATE VOTES.
BUHARI WAS NEVER GOING TO EVEN HIT THE SPREAD REQUIREMENTS IN S'S OR SE.
Rewind to 2011. If 2011 had repeated itself Buhari would not win the first round in 2011 Jonathan won every state in the SW except Osun where he came second and still met the spread requirements.
No one is saying the SWest the ST Is more important than any other place .The fact though is for Jonathan he needed to ensure Buchan did not make a breakthrough in the ST because he would struggle in the North
Your arithmetic fails you when you talk about what Jonathan got it the ST but fail to say what he lost and who he lost it to.If you lose one vote to your main rival. That is two votes lost. But are moved fro ZERO TO 6 IN THE ST AND GET MOVED FROM 5 TO ZERO.that is a swing of 11 states majority.
Learn how to count and do not quote me out of context. I said he failed to win because he did not consolidate southern unity for himself and did not target the middle belt appropriately
Which Kind thing be thishuh

In the real sense, Buhari did not win previous elections because of the middle belt states and the entire south never voted him too much

Now in 2015, Jonathan lost the entire middle belt, and of course, some votes in the SW.

But I tell you, that based on the margin of loss of Jonathan in the MB, if that result was reversed and buhari took GEJ score, and vice versa, Buhari would have had it rough
.But with that margin from the SW, forget it.

That is the point in trying to prove.

aribisala0:
Let us assume what he says about Obama is true, he is still responsible for failing to manage the American perception of him and his regime .As he famously said AMERICA WILL KNOW.
Maybe they knew enough to know that he was a waste of time. There is one fact he cannot escape. HE WON THE ELECTION in 2011. There after he surrounded himself with people who persuaded him that incumbency was enough to stay in power and he ignored all the warning signs. All he needed to do was unite the South and target Middle Belt support but he started unnecessary fights with Amaechi, Saraki ,Obasanjo, Dimeji Bankole and so on and chose some arrogant Eboe characters as his Best friends. He forgot that Nigeria is a very tribal place and that he is a minority. It is difficult for a minority to stay in power by rigging. Even Shagari failed.
Ultimately his treatment of the SW cost him dearly. Maybe he did not lose Ondo but the POP structure in the SW was dismantled under his watch. When he came to power All the governors in the SW except Tinubu were PDP. He threw it all away. He was persuaded by his Eboe friends to ignore people like Gbenga Daniel ,Oyinlola, Bankole etc perhaps because they were perceived as threats he did not empower any PDP person in the SW as a counterbalance to Tinubu. People like to credit Tinubu so much but to a large extent Jonathan presented Tinubu an open goal. There are many political veterans in the SW who could have used his support to make Tinubu fear even the loss of Lagos and put him on the defensive.
Not everyone in the SW political structure was for Tinubu but like politicians every where they use money to maintain their structure and Tinubu was the only one with money in the SW. EKITI state/Fayose showed what he could have achieved if he had woken up much earlier He surrounded himself with Maku and Orubebe and greatly underestimated Obasanjos influence with the Americans
Forget that story
His "treatment" of the SW was not what failed him...
His failure to convince Nigerians that he deserves a second term failed him.

In the SW, Jonathan pulled at least 42% of each state, and even won Ekiti state.
The net differwnce between tge votes of GEJ and buhari was less than 600,000 votes, and Buhari won the election by over 2.4m votes.

What this means is that even if the SW gave him a net vote of 1m, he would have still lost the election.

So let that sink in your head before you arrogate a false a a political importance to the SW, or even allege that it was the SW that Chased him out.
get that
