Halcie: During d batch A posting, i was posted 2 jigawa state but i bluntly refused to collect the callup letter, and applied 4 reposting because i cant stand life of perpetual hazard in the north. I cudnt risk it. So i will have to wait 4 batch B.

Same here, i was posted to Borno last year june at the heat of boko haram crises, i bluntly refused and re-applied (a decision which i regreted later as those that went to camp were later re-deployed to any state of their interest), i thut i will be re-absolved in the batch A, but couldnt. Now i await batch B seriously as i need to get over with this stupid Nysc asap. Why havnt they scraped the scheme totally yet?
Pls, its better they scrap the program rather than scraping batch B, b'cos i'm losing my patience already.

Catholic churches have thousands of non-profit organisations such as orphanages, home for less priviledged, destitutes, mentally challanged, micro-financed banks where they finance small scale biz, fund the distribution of tri-cycles, build primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, monestories, etc! Who do u think works in their schools, banks and other establishments? Angels?
In umuahia, the catholic has umuchukwu micro finance bank, Mercy primary and secondary schools, Ucl modern ceramics and Ucl Laundary services, this is just in a town, and that is just catholic church!

Yea, my first yr at uni. I just got admitted and was staying off camp. Just spent 2wks in the new environment, then one midnight, i heard heavy bangs at my kitchen door. I also heard my neighbours making hush sounds and i woke my rummie. He told me they were thieves, that we should hurry and hide our valuables. Thieves!!! I was panting heavily as that was my first time. We hid the phones and chargers, money, wrist watches etc. By then, the guy had succeeded in entering the kitchen. It was a self-contained room, so he got confused, he broke the next door and it was a birthroom, the next door he broke lead to the balcony, i heard the guy cursing under his breath in a heavy native accent. I was in shock, but my rumie was cool, he told me to relax, that thieves always visit the hostel. I was hearing noises simulteneously from different rooms at the hostel. My rumie unlocked our front door and left it open. Finally, the thief found his way into the room and demanded for money. My rumie told him that we've already been robed by one of them! The thief looked at him, looked at the already opened front door, looked at him again, hissed and walked out of the front door! I was shocked! Lieing to a thief! I nearly wet myself.
It was all fun in the morning as each lodge mate narrated his/her ordeal. My room mate's was the funniest.
The second time thieves visited my lodge wasnt funny at all. It was a routine ordeal then as my lodge was known as big-guys lodge.

Jesus never abolished tithing, nor the law, Matt 5:17 'I did not come to abolish the law...
The old testament is part of the bible and is not abolished, 2tim 3:16 'All scriptures is written by God and is usefull...
Jesus did mention tithing, but never said it was abolished, in Luke 11:42, Jesus rebuked the pharisees that after paying their tithe, they pass over the judgement and love of God. Now check what Jesus said at the last part of the verse 32...'these ought u have done and not leave the other undone'. Meaning, u ought to pay ur tithe, dont just stop at tithing, but also dont passover the love and judgement of God.
These are the words of Jesus himself.
I rest my case.

Op, tithing and giving are two different things, both have different blessings attached to them. Giving to your brother is ideal, u will be blessed if u do, but dont substitute tithing with giving. You can give ur bros the exact amount u've kept for ur tithing, but u stil having paid ur tithe.
To answer ur question, attend to ur brother's urgent need, but record it that u owe God that specific amount which u must redeem later.
Remember, tithing isnt a free-will donation, u must 'pay' ur tithe.
