PoliticsRe: You’re Peddling Falsehood, Okonjo-iweala To Ameachi by ujoinme: 2:43pm On Dec 04, 2013
I challenge all those listing Amaechi achievements to list any project that amaechi has initiated/commissioned since he assumed office for his second term!
Everything good about amaechi ie The schools, hospital/health centres and the few roads he built were all done in the first term when his primary focus was on rivers state and his people.

Since after getting the second term mandate Amaechi let his ego get the better part of him and now thinks he knows better than everyone in Nigeria.and his focus has shifted to self preservation in power and alliance with APC which is now drives his utterances and expenditures.

Amaechi should focus on his primary responsibility of providing the much needed infrastructure in Rivers State and quit throwing tantrums at the FG and its cabinet like a 3yr old.
He should spend rivers state money on rivers state infrastructures rather than spending it to build political infrastructures for APC as he is currently doing.

I must confess that I loved the Gov. Amaechi was in his first term but this brother has lost focus in this second term and we all need to see him for what he has turned into, an egotistical narcissist whose goal is political self preservation with no regards to the cost to rivers state,SS and nigeria at large.

If amaechi aspiration in APC succeeds in 2015 which i doubt, Amaechi will go down in history as a good politician but one thing he will never be is a statesman for hes allowed personal ambition to override collective ambition of his people.

^^ the job of government is not to build industries! Govt has no business in business, Governor Akpabio should not spend the state funds in building industries especially heavy industries.
But rather as i stated earlier create an enabling environment for the private sector to invest/establish business in the state by providing good road networks like he is doing,Setting up parastatals whose sole responsibility is to reduce the ease of doing business in the state,by making land acquisition easy for would be investors and using those land as govt. equity in the investments, and also as a govt assume a business/ investor friendly posture within an outside the country.

The only business that AKSG should be involved in is in small/middle scale (SME) business by offering incentives for residents of the state in form of subsidized loans directly or indirectly through banks of Gov financial outlets to serious entrepreneurs especially farmers/Agribusiness and farming should be funded by the state as a business and not funded as political developmental projects as is the case currently.

The paramount business of Govt. is to invest heavily on infrastructures such roads, drainages, water, electricity/power, air/seaport,security hospitals,Education ETC.

Thats why am very much in support of the second point you raised The Ibaka Seaport should be seen as the number 1 top priority for the state of Akwa Ibom if we want to unlock the the economic/industrial potential of the state/region. It cannot be done without that seaport.once that is in place it will be very difficult for any investor coming into Nigeria to avoid the state - with a functional deep seaport, airport, good road/distribution network, gas/electricity supply etc. what AKSG is slowly putting in place are the bedrock of industrialization my only gripe is that its not taking the seaport project as serious as they should.

^^ i agree with you on your above points. but i don't want govt building business its not sustainable but they should rather grant incentives to give investors the opportunity to get it done

Congratulations gov. elect and the good people of Anambra.
APC lost woefully in that election as expected!A lesson to all APC lapdogs, Elections are not won on the keyboard of computers linked to nairaland but on hardwork of political bridge building.

HealthRe: The Deplorable Conditions In Epe General Hospital by ujoinme: 12:18am On Dec 01, 2013
LASG should sack the chief medical director of the hospital as they sacked the principal of the school that children were sitting on windows to receive lessons.

The inadequate infrastructures/deplorable conditions in those institutions are the fault of those administrators and the State govt shares no blame whatsoever! lol
The administrators are probably PDP members, the person who took the pic is from PDP and all the lagos resident who are unable to access medical care from the hospital are PDP members heck even the school kids were PDP members too.just saying.

Uyo Storm Drain: in bid to solve the flood problems that plagues the state due to the flat nature of Uyo, the government has embarked on about 4km storm drain project with several receptacles that runs from the tropicana entertainment centre in Uyo all the way to Mbikpong in ibesikpo asutan LGA where it empties into a natural pond.

this is quite an ambitious project and is handled by julius berger this is in addition to the extensive pipe jacked underground drainage in Uyo and Abak LGA respectively which were completed and put to use about a year ago.

Yet another proactive tool by the government to combat flooding menace in the state.

Abagworo: I'm still a harsh critic of the Governor. 19billion and 3billion are not in any way close. If you subtract the 3billion received by Ekiti and Ebonyi State from Akwa-Ibom's 19billion, you'll agree with me that even a bat can see with such huge funds of extra 16billion.
and where did you get those figures from? besides you shouldnt be comparing Akwa Ibom an oil producing state to ebonyi and ekiti with no crude oil resources.
In all sincerity you should be comparing Akwa ibom to rivers, lagos, bayelsa and delta which has similar resources. in order to put correct perspective to the ratio of resources accruable to projects on ground by their respective administrators.

please compare apples to apples not apples to oranges.

Besides any political or ethnic bias, most Nigerians Already know that when you talk of ratio of accurable resources to projects executed on ground no state government comes close to Akwa ibom on that regards presently.

biafranqueen: Wow nice it is good to see this type of transformation in the South East!
Correction:Politically Akwa ibom i believe is in the South South region, but years ago when nigeria was running regional government it and most of the SS except edo and parts of delta were in the South Eastern Region.
But, Its common knowledge that there is a lot of commonality btw the people of both the SS and SE region of Nigeria.

Abagworo: I wish Anambra or Abia had this huge funds to invest in quality roads and bridges, we would have seen cities with thousands of beautiful buildings and beehive of economic activities. Akpabio will forever be remembered for these monuments.
Am glad you are turning around abagworo you used to be one harsh critic of this governor. Welcome on board the uncommon transformation train.

More of CCC, This is one of the foremost Girls only school in the region am glad the school has been rehabilitated to its former glory in terms of structures.

It now has full perimeter fence and functional bore hole to ensure kids spend time studying instead of looking for where to fetch water. kudos akpabio
