PoliticsOnly 13 Gov. And 3 Deputies Attend Amaechi NGF Faction Meeting by ujoinme(op): 3:07pm On Sep 18, 2013
Members of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum have called on the Minister of Finance, who is also the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to resign her appointment if she knew she would not be able to adhere strictly with the Appropriation Act 2013.

They said the non-compliance with the revenue projections of the Federal Government 2013 Budget was also a direct breach of the provisions of the Appropriation Act, 2013.

These decisions were part of the resolutions of the Governor Rotimi Amaechi-led NGF, which met in Abuja on Tuesday evening.

States which were represented by their governors at the meeting were those of Rivers, Niger, Kwara, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun, Adamawa, Oyo, Lagos, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kano and Zamfara while deputy governors of Edo, Borno and Nasarawa states represented their governors.

The governors also called for the immediate dissolution of the Economic Management Team.

Reading the communique of the meeting, Amaechi, who was flanked by other members said, “Members expressed concern in the management of the economy by the Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy and called for a strict adherence to the Appropriation Act, 2013, failing which she should resign.

PoliticsRivers PDP: Wike Gives Amaechi Condition For Peace by ujoinme(op): 4:45am On Sep 18, 2013
THE supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, on Sunday gave the Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi a condition for peace and before the structure of the Peoples Democratic Party could be returned to the governor.

Wike said if Amaechi desired the state PDP structure the governor should hand over his office to Mr. Celestine Omehia, who was at the helm of affairs in the state before the October 2007 court ruling, which removed him from office.

The minister spoke during the inauguration of the chapter executives of the Grassroots Development Initiative in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area.

He maintained that the state PDP was ready to hand over its structure to the governor if he was ready to surrender his position to Omehia.

Wike said, "As far as the PDP structure in Rivers State is concerned, nobody gave us any PDP structure. We fought for our mandate and we won in court.

"If they say that they should take the structure from us after the court had given judgment, therefore, the PDP should also take the governorship in 2007 and return it to the man who was serving as governor at that time.

"Our own condition is this: we will surrender the party structure since he says he will no longer obey court judgement. He should also surrender the court judgement of 2007. If you (Amaechi) do that, then we would also surrender the court judgment that brought Felix Obuah.

"We are telling the PDP national leadership that our own condition is this; we are willing to make peace. We are willing to surrender the party structure, if he (Amaechi) would also surrender that mandate that the court gave in 2007. He should give it back to the man who had that mandate."

Reacting, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Chief Tony Okocha, described Wike's condition to Amaechi as unreasonable, maintaining that the current situation in the state had nothing to do with the position of the governor.

Okocha pointed out that rather than come to the state to campaign for President Jonathan and abuse Amaechi, the minister should face the challenges facing the nation's educational sector and bring in ideas that could improve the sector.

He stated that Wike had shown that the only way he could sustain his position as a minister was to continue to attack Amaechi, whom he (Wike) perceived to be Jonathan's enemy.

Okocha said, "What he is portraying is the saying that my enemy's enemy is my friend. Let him bring good ideas to the educational sector. The only thing he is doing to sustain his stay in the ministry is to continue to abuse Amaechi.

"Wike is just a beneficiary of undeserved goodwill. He should be able to tell the people what the President has done while campaigning for him here in Rivers State and stop abusing Amaechi who has done so much for him."

pacer: Nigerians in Nigeria are some of the most ignorant people in the world ,its so frustrating trying to explain anything or even to deal with these morons, their warped mentality means Nigeria will never be a developed country unless everyone in the Godforsaken shithole are wiped out.its a very big pity that such foolishness can exist in this modern world,Nigerians lack common sense and reasoning skills.regarding gay and lesbian issues for example.
The USA offers freedom and liberty for all including religious persecution, refugees, gays and lesbians ,The USA does not say that gay is the best way and straight is wrong, the USA believes in individual rights and that only God should be the Judge of personal shortcomings.even a criminal in the USA is sent to a correctional prison facility but in nigeria nigerians have an insatiable wicked urge for jungle justice and then apply for visa to migrate to one these free and libertarian countries.Nigerians are very wicked hypocrites.untold evil occurs everyday in nigeria and about 60 percent of all males in nigeria are secretly BI CURIOUS,BISEXUAL or even GAY but because of fear its kept secret.
the white man and western blacks are always looking for new ways to evolve as humans ,research ,inventions and discoveries are taking us beyond limits but nigerians are still hanging their white jesus on the wall and praying to a white bearded man in the sky.yet nigerians are such hypocrites.

at one time humans thought the earth was flat and there was no argument about it,but now we know better.
at one time humans thought the earth was extremely large and the center of the universe but now we know better.
In the last century human evolution has taken a big leap, thanks to the immense innovation from the USA to the rest of the world ,21st century humans are enjoying a lifestyle that previous generations could only hope to live when they die and go to paradise.
nations are becoming enlightened but nigeria remains ignorant.i weep for Africa, always backward,no research, investigations or discoveries,no ponder, just passive ignorant at face value.

Are you a nigerian? will like to know if the nigerian ignorance excludes you?aren't we lucky to have you! o wise man

PoliticsRe: FG Plans To Ban Importation Of Vehicles by ujoinme: 6:32pm On Sep 17, 2013
FG should stick to what they have control over. How will the block cars from coming in through our notoriously porous borders? All i see is another opportunity for the FG to lose revenue accruing to Nigeria through legal duties and taxes on the imported cars and enriching smugglers who will bring the cars into the country despite the ban.

Me says this is a half thought out plan by FG. please scrap the plan. If the govt want to encourage local productions there are better avenues to do it ie grant tax breaks for local assembly/manufacturers, grant rebates to nigerians who by locally assembled/manufactured cars and come up with PPP plans that will make nigeria attractive for car assembly/manufacturing and not outright ban.

PoliticsLack Of Specialists Worsens Health Crisis In Nigeria by ujoinme(op): 1:02pm On Sep 16, 2013
There is an indication that many hospitals are having a hard time coping with the dearth of medical specialists in the country.

Investigation by our correspondent shows that due to the prevailing brain drain, especially in the sector, only about 100 anaesthetists and specialists in pain management are available to attend to the needs of over 18 million residents in Lagos State alone.

Some states lack experts in sub-specialities, such as paediatrics, oncology, neurology and psychiatry, while the few left in the country prefer to practice in the urban areas.

Many of the specialists have left the country for better remuneration and incentives in foreign hospitals.

Nowadays, patients have to travel as far as three states from their residences to get medical attention, even for cases that should ordinarily be treated as emergencies. For example, some nursing mothers in Jigawa State, whose babies need special attention, are often forced to travel all the way to the Federal Capital Territory in search of treatment. There is no paediatrician in the state.
