mekaboy: Not so simple lol. So lets say i invest 1.5m in 2020 bond at least at 15.54%. At the end of the 5years i dont get 1.5m but less?
lets get something straight. if i invest 1m in 2020 bond at 15%. yield or no yield, do i get 150k annually? will i get my 1m back at the 3nd of 5years?
But on the other hand, if i understand this. Say fg is selling a unit of this 2020 bond for 1000 and is paying 15%.
So with my 1m i will get 1000 units.
But at the reopening, it is sold for 1200 So with my 1m i can get 833 units .
But i am not interest in the units or yield fluctation. What i want to know if i invest 1m at 15%, do i get 150k at the end of a year and get my one m back. all Please oga united4real, feelamong... Please explain this fg bond investment in layman idea...its very interesting.. Thanks |

feelamong: I mentioned a few days ago that rates have crashed across all money market securities like Tbills, Bonds and I expected the Banks to drop their own rates too as all the banks now do is just to trade on these instruments since they don't give out new loans especially at this time when the year is coming to an end soon. so this news is not surprising to me.
This morning I was also informed by Fidelity securities that Their FSL Bond Indexed rates have also been reduced from 13.75% to 12.5%.
Rates are crashing due to the fact that the system is awash with so much liquidity.....
at this junction na to begin to dey watch the stock market small small.. Oga feelamong.. Which share in stock market should one invest for short and medium term investment? Thanks |

angrybull: I think your decision to remain employee with average salary of 450k in the presence of this economic difficulties is better than trying to establish new business. Buying and accumulating stock at this time is the wisest thing to do as Oga manie has rightly said that many of the stocks are treading below their intrinsic value.
I have 3 plots of land somewhere where I have decided to start putting up structures but I have decided to explore the Golden opportunity in the capital market because of its good inherent value at the moment . My project must wait until I maximize enough profit with which to commence my project from the market. Please my oga angrybull and other gurus in the house,,, which NSE shares (first 5 shares WITH REASONS TO BUY THEM) should I buy now to get good profit in 1 year time... THANKS ALL |

mekaboy: Nigeria pays 15% in bonds. So the house u invested 10m and sold 15m in 5yrs is not affected by the dollar? is 15m 5yrs ago the same today?
Ok lets assume dangote does not invest in bonds, does he invest in estate appart from factories he uses for production. Ok that brings me back to business. Dangote is a business man that needs capital.
Lets looks at this scenario.
Mr A has a property worth 10m and he makes 400k from it a year. He depends on that 400k to survive. In 5 yrs time his 10m house is now worth 15m.
Mr B sells his for 10m. Buys fg bond of 5 years at 15% he uses part his first year earning of 1.5m to go into business.
Now in the remaining four years, he saves 6m from his earnings. By the time the 5yrs is over, he has 16m plus a flourishing business.
Mr. A has his house worth 15m now and nothing else to show for it. While Mr.B has 16m cash and a business that could be worth 3-5m by now.
I assume mr B has not been trading tbills with his returns from bonds or putting it into business. But if he has been trading with the 6m, then the figures will be far above 16m.
Who is better off in 5 years? my close friend built 6 (a room and parlour) apartments in one of the south estern states at cost of 8million naira....he bought the land (100 by 100)at 1million naira 2 years ago. He built the 6 apartments in half of the plot(100 by 50) last year...rented each apartment@150k per annum(I.e#900,000 in a year). The tenants are gladly paying for their rents yearly and praying for the landlord because the apartments are built with a TASTE. He pays 30,000 to his Lawyer annually and Axxa Mansard insurance coverage 25,000 annually. The 6 apartments values currently @12million naira. The remaining half (100 by 50) values at 1.5 million naira today. He plans to build 10 similar apartments (5 up and 5 down) in a storey building in the remaining half plot....calculate the annual income he will be getting ....for life He still have other undeveloped plots of land that are appreciating in values. He is still very active in FGBONDS and NTB and other investment, but he makes mega money in his real estates. Good real estate investment is not comparable to FGNBond and NTB... IF YOU'RE NOT GOOD IN REAL ESTATE, DON'T CONDEM OR BELITTLLE IT. |

nonyowen: Hi everyone.. wonderful work here, God bless u all. Please permit me to digress a little. There is this investment company that gives 10% ROI monthly. I was very skeptical at first so i decided to try them with a small amount (100k) and they have been paying my 10k monthly for 6 months now with a promise that my capital is available whenever i need within 1 week notice. They are not registered with the regulatory institutions except corporate affairs. Now i'm considering increasing to 500k my question is pls is it safe ?. What are your opinions on this kind of company? Do u pple have any experiences wit this. thank u pls respond ask them to give u your 100k first and watch them for a while...later you invest 50k..downwards... never invest any 500k to avoid crying in this forum my 1kobo advice |

carpenter: You are quite right about that. That is a deal breaker for some pple.
I seek solace in the simplicity of being able to manage a mutual fund (Online, you see the money grow...day by day) without having to contact anyone except when I need to make a withdrawal (i hear some funds now have online withdrawal forms sef), no penalties for withdrawing once the holding period has been exceeded and for some funds, you can get your money in 24hrs as Oga Ednut mentioned. Yes...Stanbic IBTC Bank MMF is online for all services.... Deposit and withdrawal |
