BusinessRe: CBN Considers Liquidating Ailing Banks by Ultrame(m): 9:39am On Jan 18, 2010
@ Engineer96

What exactly are these parameters sir?

I'm not really sure you know anything about this issue on ground and if you do, you conviniently forgot to mention that:

1. UNITY BANK posted a loss of 8bn in third quater while your 'healthy' southern Oceanic posted more than 400bn loss in the same quarter.

2. UNITY Bank is very solvent (has no liquidity broblems) which means it does not need any bailoout fund from CBN, while your 'southern' intercontinental had to suckle on CBN's bailout unmentionable to pay its customers.

My guy, banking is more than beautiful buildings and attractive CSOs. Sanusi is doing the right thing.

Engineer96:
To be honest with NL, there is tribalistic sentiments in what Sanusi has done and what he is still doing. Unity Bank, using any parameter, is not healthy.

And what exactly are these parameters sir?

Sanusi told us that Unity Bank was given up to June this year to re-capitalize. Why were other Banks (southern Banks) not given the same opportunity and mandate? Think about this.

if they make me a full staff, i will still be doing the kind of job i dont like, but the pay is very encouraging 2.8PA

PoliticsRe: Naira To Be Re-Denominated by Ultrame(m): 12:41pm On Aug 15, 2007
I hate to be like this, but i cant help but be skeptical. Everybody including Mr. Soludo are getting us really excited with the advantages of this re-denomination. now logically speaking, every coin has two sides to it. and so is any idea, including Mr. soludo's very bright idea. a good idea is only an idea whose advantages far outweighs its disadvantages by a relatively wide margin, (and so, not all bright ideas are good ideas)

I want to  believe that a scheme that would affect Nigeria in Her entirety would not be a 'blue milk run'. it would not come off so easily and cheaply. there's definitely a 'price' to pay somewhere. let us explore the existence of the 'prices' in this scheme and decide whether its time to jubilate or time to push the panic button.

thank you nairaland
TravelRe: Describe Your First Trip By Air by Ultrame(m): 11:09am On Aug 09, 2007
my first time was actually in a chopper sometimes in 2005. i just got a job with an oil servicing firm, and its going to be my first time on a platform.

after attending all the HSE trainins i felt i was good to go. boarded the chopper and everything was ok untill the chopper was lifting up. i felt all the blood in me body kind of sinking into boots!

it felt nice initially, but not long after. i started puking all over the place ( i shouldnt have eaten so much!). all the guys started laughing at me. but luckily we had a health officer on board. she attended to me and told me i did even better than most first timers n i wondered what it would be like to encounter anything worse. plain hell!

i've since gotten over it and i always look forward to being in air.
PoliticsRe: 'All Nigerians Are Corrupt', Says Oprah Winfrey by Ultrame(m): 2:50pm On Jul 26, 2007
OK guys, understanding madam Oprah shouldn't have been so collective in her negative judgement of the 'Nigerian corruption virus', we should face the truth and concede to the fact that most of us are infected with the virus (most may not even know it). public relations is bad enough i Nigeria, she shouldn't make it worse. and whether she likes it or not, she still has her roots here in Africa. so she should show some respect to the homeland.
FamilyWould You Let Your Ageing Parents Live With You? by Ultrame(op): 10:40am On May 24, 2007
Hello folks, here's a scenario that may play out in our lives at one point or the other. if it were YOU, what would you have done? enjoy!

A man lives comfortably with his family (wife and three kids of ages 12, 9 and 5) in a big city.

He travels home to the village one weekend to visit his aging parents (dad: 72, mum: 68) and was unsatisfied with the standard of living of his parents. they were living in a state of utter neglect. it was so bad the only reason he didn't break down crying was because his kids were there! he takes one look at the people that has given him so much, the people that made him what he is and he feels a pang of guilt. he feels he hasn't done enough for them.

As the only son, he knows he has to make a decision on how to better the condition of his parents very ASAP. he decides to take them to live with him.

But here is the snag: at that age, his parents will require special attention. he is a hard worker (the 6 to 7 type) and so is his wife. so,

Besides, right now he couldn't afford to rent out a place for his parents in the city. Not that his parents would agree to follow him anywhere else apart from his home anyway. (they've not yet turned into vegetables!)

Another issue is the privacy at home. he feel his wife might not be too happy with both in-laws under her roof as his attention will now be divided between her, the kids and his folks. (sharing him with the kids was bad enough grin)

The truth is: he knows his parents needs extra care from what they are currently getting. should he take them into his house and see if it would work? or, ?

if it were you, what would you have done. Roll away guys!

hi Enkrate,

PH is a lovely place if you:

1. have enough money in your pocket
2. know how to have fun and,
3. know just how to stay out of the 'ikwerre boys' ways.

talking about your programme, you did not tell me what kind of programme you've got going nor the kind of youth your target is.

tell me more about what you want and perharps i may be able to assist.

have a good time

CareerThe Plight Of Second Class Lowers Seeking Postgraduate Admission Abroad by Ultrame(op): 10:40am On Apr 03, 2007
hello Nairalanders, i just got a devastating mail that i can't offer my choice course of Structural Geology in the university of Leeds because i did not make a 2'1 in school.

i know I'm not alone. i just want to know what me and other millions of Nigerian 2'2 graduates could do in an embarrassing situation like this.

thank you
