Bro Baqir, salafis and wahabbis might be different from sunnis and they may not *I have nothing to justify either of that*... May Allah forgive me if I overrated the post of a mod on NL to that of muslim leaders in authority but that's just the best way I could have explained it... You are a shi'at and you've thousands if not millions of reasons why you will rate it over any other sect*I understand* cuz I rate being a 'SUNNI' higher than others too... All I'm asking for is peaceful co-existence between 'US' all regardless of our different sects... Sincerely brother, if hundred Shi'ats and ten 'non-muslims' are in trouble and UmmSulaym can help out, as long as i can differentiate the people, I will save lots of Shi'ats before saving one of 'others'... People might see it as 'unfair' but these are my brothers under the canopy of 'ISLAM' and under Islam comes my 'sunni' brothers and others... We should stop being at logger heads everytime... Let's take a break! I don't know what moderation is based upon on NL but demanding to be informed before your Topic was editted is your right *so I think* and am not against it but the manner which it was done... Imperfection is what makes us 'human' and that shouldnt be blamed on 'abuse of power' on the side of mac... Mac will hear from me but not in public... To co-exist peacefully begins with U,I and 'others' *******Assalamu aleikum****** |
If all this comments against Maclatunji's reply to Seun is to annoy Seun, I doubt if it will work because Seun has the necessary skills needed for effective management*so I believe though* we really have to stop posting comment that could fuel mod/manager's anger to avoid 'battle for superiority' among them... Everyone seems to have one or two things to say about Maclatunji(don't know why sha) but only the one who wears a shoe knows where it pinches... Avoid negative comments but if u care enough to advcie him on some issues, u are not restricted from email-ing him... *****LET PEACE REIGN, JuSt PlEaDiNg***** N.B: am sorry if i offended anyone, its not my intension. Thanks |
I never thought i will have to post an opposing comment to a fellow muslim but I doubt If that principle can still hold... The Exalted says in Qur'an 4:59 ''O you who believe! Obey God, and His Messenger, and those(muslims) charged with Authority'' maclatunji is one of those assigned to moderate ''islam for muslims'' and as such should be respected... I think it's high time we stopped posting comments that could be offensive to one sect or the other and if anyone post a comment that could be offensive to a sect or more, the moderator reserve the right to either hide it or edit it...*afterall, to before warned is to before harmed* I'm not being one sided but whoever thinks Maclatunji was not 'respectful' enouf with his explanation needs a glasses to read over again *except what it means to be respectful is not understood* Besides, the OP shouldn't have cared if his intention wasn't to offend 'us' the sunnists... Shi'ats post alotta things on NL that sometimes depict sunnis to be worse than even atheists not to talk of christians... I always try to hold my peace and Allah is my witness... Am abit new on NL and the opposition from 'Ali's party' is so glarind and becoming neither bearable nor welcoming *they beautify it and call it Da'wah* I still believe we can co-exist peacefully but viewing sunnis as the world's 'worst night mare' really needs to STOP pls! P.S: An upright person will always have haters and wishing Maclatunji out of mod office wont stop him from breathing *will it?* ***Am really sorry if I derailed this thread*** |

EBK2: Repent and believe the Gospel before it is too late. You, your dad and entire family. He loves you. Without Jesus in your life you will go to hell (scary but true). With Jesus in your heart, you will live for eternity in heaven. Come unto Jesus all you that labour and are heavy laden, and He will give you rest. Repent and receive Him today. He loves you!receive him? Well, muslims never rejected him and ofcourse, we love Him too as a messenger and a prophet... After all, we are all servants to the Almighty God, the ONE GOD! |

Btruth: sorry oooo, what is Ibadah! Does he meant, "Ibadan?"obedience, submission, and devotion to Allah... It could also be said to mean islamic believes and practices in general... And Allah knows best... |
touchmeder: Op i think you are simply full of yourself.there is a greater possibility that the OP isn't the one with his dad in that pix... Maybe it's a friend who is also a nairalander that posted it... Besides, it might not be riyah(show off), it might simply be out of joy... We should appreciate him instead of making him/OP feel guilty... Meanwhile, expecting my sallah goodies if u'r a muslim. Lol! |

After primary school graduation, I went to a boarding school and hardly come home for Eid, reason being the break, too short(it was a missionary school) to enjoy it at home and even when I come home sometimes, I don't go for Eid prayer... Travelling isn't my hobby at all cuz it takes me 2days atleast to get over its stress even if it's a private car so I don't attend Eid prayer cuz i normally come back home a day to Eid and I often spend the whole Eid day sleeping or watching film... Am not a lover of meat so, after assissting in the kitchen*If i can*, I'll take what I can *mostly snacks and drinks*, den retire to bed till after Zuhr when my friends will come over and we will gist and play whatever game available till they leave... I base in my hometown with my parents so our home is like the receiving end for our family members who will come home for the Eid... It's usually a full house and ooops!, am not a lover of noise so, most of the days till they return to their various settlements, I'm always in the room(little or no noise is heard from there)... After my graduation in 2010, my dad called me(Eid was near) and adviced me to stop missing eid prayer and explaining why its attendance is compulsory... I understood him and promised not to miss the upcoming one but I had another excuse(since the stress of travelling was no longer valid cuz i've graduated). I told him I cant dress as 'usual' to eid prayer ground and that I don't have a native or abaya to wear. Knowing I wont buy a native wear or an abaya if he gives me the money, he bought a black and full lenght abaya(gown) for me... That was my first 'islamic' outfit and I loved it*I still wear it till date*... Eid came, I attended it and was early cuz I went on my own... It was so interesting and I wished not to miss it again... Admission came, I left and lived with my cousin sis offK... By Allah's Rahma, her life style infuenced me so quickly and i began my quest for 'islamic knowledge'... The more I learn, the farther i want to learn. So many things changed and alot was set right... That year'2011', Eid was in school making my 2012 Eid the most memorable Eid for me*I pray 2moro beats it in shaa Allah* 2012 Eid was at home, I woke up early that day to do cleaning, and some other stuffs, bath and get set for Eid... It was my first Eid on a full hijab and native wear... After prayer, there was a heavy down pour... My family left immmediately but I waited for Khutba, after It, i trekked with my friend under the rain down home... For the first time, i didnt isolate myself @ home, I enjoyed my Eid to its fullest... As usual, my friends came and we ate and gisted... In all, it was a fond Eid experience and I pray that 2013 Eid beats it cuz it's here in my grandmother's place... Islam and everything about it is interesting if the knowledge of it is known... May Allah prosper our lives to witness another Eid and make it enjoyable for us all. Ameen!!! ******Eid-Ul-adha Mubaraq to you all****** |
kizmartino: @muslims..derailing this thread is prohibited... Search for another thread where your question fits in... *with due respect sir* |
Deen4me: Translation pleasethis world is like hell to the believers and like jannah(paradise) to the unbelievers... Wa'Allahu a'alam |
well said bro... May Allah give you a better reward for the reminder... In addition to those reasons is ''religion is in the heart and we will be judge not according to look but intention''... Before August 2012, that was my own excuse for disobeying Allah*may HE forgive me* I was a fashion freak and the though of hijab didn't just go well with me... But truth be told ''the heart that fears Allah will reflect on the outside(body)'' My second excuse was ''am better than alot of hijabis''... To some extent, it may be true but to a larger extent, it's a lie... Imagine using a hijabi sister's loophole as reason to disobey Allah as if account is not me for myself, she for herself and they for themselves... Worse was when my 'days of ignorance' came to its end and I chose to wear it, hmmmm all hell was let loose my by mum [she wasn't against it but against the full lenght+socks], my friends, family friends, neighbours, to mention but a few were against it most esp my mum saying they cant imagine me being married to a 'brother' but worse among all was my Qur'an tutor (a sufist) who said i was extreme... It was a mini hell but my cousin sis (a nicobite) stood by me and told me it was a test and should not fail... But Alhamdulilah, Allah saw me through and today It's all history [alot are still against it though but my mum is ok] *Ma Shaa Allah*... Wallahi, hijab comes with lots of advantages that can better be experienced than explained. The least of the advantages being 'freedom'... It's hard to start but harder to stop... May Allah make His Path easy for us... |
Sissie: He/she can't bear your name as its surname because he's not your child, he has to bear his/her own name.but from an orphanage where neither the mum nor the dad is known, whose name does he/she bears as surname? |
Sissie: Salam, once he grows up and becomes a non mahram, you send him out, he should go back to his family house, your habibi can still pay for his upkeep.wa'leikum salam... Still cant stop laughing... But that's the blatant truth... Shukran jazeelan |
@Deen4me kinda funny though but that's the truth... Think that's an issue i shouldn't forget to discuss prior to nikkah... @all, do you know islamic stand on adoption? P.s: not cuz you dont have children of your own but would just like to |
mahram issue... In a situation where someone from your husband family(a male) lives with you and your husband, he isn't your mahram but because he still underage makes him one... Years later, he's matured enough and normally, if he was an outsider, you should not display your adorements before him nor come in physical contact with him or staying alone with him in a place but since he grew up under your custody and now turned a non-mahram but yet, lives with you, being on hijab 247 in your husband's house wont just work neither will staying in ur room 247 just to avoid being together when ur hubby goes out and some other stuffs like that... What's your advice under this circumstance? Send him out or live such a pressurizing life in your habibi's house? |
tbaba1234: We are similar, i prefer reading at night. I am a bit nocturnal. Please make it work this time. And you too bro... Ameen |
I understand myself better when I argue with christians and jews which i even try to avoid most times but arguing with a fellow muslim sort of make me *shy* should i say ashame. Prophesy has it that islam will be divided into 73 sects right? Fine! So whether we like it or not, we will just find ourselves in one sect or the other base on our believes and practices so we cant just be on the fence except 'being on the fence' is another sect... Fighting to become under one canopy is a lost battle but fighting to co-exist peacefully isn't lost 'yet'... I respect everyone's view and I try to understand everyone but I've got my own believes too (should i say sect) and have thousands of reason for belonging to that sect and no contrary explanation given can change that believe *in shaa Allah*... My advice to 'us' is that Islam is bigger than any sect whatsoever so we should lock our sectarian beliefs in us cuz i know *we cant just kill it* and then come back to the wider ISLAMIC world to practice It's pillars and articles of faith to the best of our abilities... After all, it al-mumeen lil mumeen that is like a building such that what affects one affects the others and not shi'at Ali lil shi'at Ali or Ahle Sunnah lil Ahle Sunnah... Come what may, we are closer to one another under the canopy of Islam than we are to those under the canopy of ''non-islam''... Short of words to type but really enough should be enough of this sectarian arguments... Wa'Allahu a'alam |
