lionel4power: It baffles me how self acclaimed military tech experts undermine the value of an AEW&C
*an AEW&C CAN extend the radar range of ground based local radars.
* it can be use for secure communications
*it can be used to bounce signal from one point to another thereby extending comms range.
* it can be used to gather intel from neighboring countries
* its A CRUCIAL ASSET IN THE FIGHT AGAINST PIRATES
* IT CAN COORDINATE SEARCH AND RESCUE
* It CAN ORGANIZE (ANY) AIRBORNE OPERATIONS
*It has IFF to interrogate any rogue flight
*most comes with ELECTRONIC SUPPORT MEASURE SUITE THAT MEANS IT CAN SUPPORT JAMMING.
*it has inherent datalink
* it can extend the reach of secure comms by signal bouncing
* it has ELINT/ECM INBUILT AUTOMATICALLY
* IT HAS GROUND SURVEILLANCE MODE
* IT HAS SEA MODE FOR DETECTING SHIPS
ITS A MULTI MISSION PLATFORM IN ALL SENSE OF THE WORD.
JUST TWO WILL BOOST THE NIGERIAN MILITARY CAPABILITY 10 FOLD.
SINCR ITS MODULAR WE CAM EASILY INTEGRATE IT WITH OUR ATRs Maybe I should as well list out the importance of an aircraft carrier and tell you we need it. There are tons of stuffs lacking or shorting in the airforce, how you choose to overlook all these that are in line with current threats to whip up advocacy for AWACS and space ships is beyond me. |

lionel4power: Something we tend to forget easily is that most wars fought since... the aggressor usually coerce the neighbors to allow their troops pass through the border to attack It is stupidity at this time for the Nigerian military to invest in AWACs, Radios Ambulance Hospitals Troop transports MRE Training Gears These are just a few of essential things that are lacking and you want AWACs, then next would be space exploration I guess Wake up. |

LTGEN: http://punchng.com/akpobolokemi-ex-army-general-diverted-n1-8bn-nimasa-funds-witness/ Maj. Gen Atewe ( rtd) as Brigadier Atewe was at one time in charge of the JTF for the Niger delta region , initially he appeared to be doing a good job in halting bunkering, as time went by under his command kidnapping rose, oil theft was a major cause of concern , with some residents saying such illegal business, could not take place without senior military officers looking the other way.. MAJ.Gen Atewe is now undergoing a trial in which he is accused of enriching himself with kickbacks and bribery, it is no coincidence that since he left the Niger Delta, the oil bunking operations have hit a very hard time with the NAF and the NN making life utterly miserable for the illegal operations that used to go unabated, It is important for the FGN to prosecute not just the little guys but also where compelling evidence is shown to prosecute the top guys. Obviously, i mean obviously the man was neck deep with his naval cronies during Operation Pulo shield cutting deals and sharing bribes, who doesn't know this? From Top - Mid - Junior officers, they all collected bribes and turned the other eyes in some cases helped carry out illegal bunkery. Go to Creek road and ask any human being there even animals know this, even as a buyer they ask you to settle. |

giles14: wot he said really pissed me off"dat dis is d third crash of d jf17 dis year"in other words the d thunder is not a reliable jet.while dere tejas in not still operational 30 years since development. Lol! Maybe the thunder is not a reliable jet, throwing shades at nemesis won't un-crash the jet. Three crashes in one year speaks a lot, or would you rather have Nigeria procure a crappy airframe? They(the Chinese and Pakistanis) need to investigate and correct any flaws found before shipping it to Nigeria. |

lionel4power: The way the NA use armored vehicles...
go to a conflict zone and park it in one T junction.
Almost all of us has come across one Armored vehicle in a junction in nigeria.
the last NIGER DELTA crises there was no known use of IED. although it is a wise move to deploy them im advance.
Niger delta militants fight in a semi-conventional warfare pattern. they do not initiate contact but grab, hold and defend ground.
airpower will come in handy here.
But I see recommend dialogue. this could end up a long protracted conflict which Nigeria for not need now. Sensible post, it is in the best interest of the military and the entire region to embrace dialogue. going in with guns blazing would only result in waste of time and lives on both sides. |

That's not a couple dozen, except if you completely skipped Math, Arithmetic and Economics classes. I think he is referring to the cainman MRAPs |

thedarkside: why do you think its sooo hard to figure out how to detect a f35??....anything that moves, create heat....and things flying made by men, create a remarkable amount of heat....
people even still use a stick to detect underground-water in dry lands....
after you detect the f35,just shoot everything you have in that direction!!!...even one 7mm munition is enough to make the f35 vulnerable.......
you dont have to focus the ol time on it...just shoot everything you have in the direction that you suspect it.....
look...nigerians are not happy...better upgrade what you already have, than provoke the people and have nothing a tall!!!!.... Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Nigerians are not happy, so by spending tons of cash upgrading our fleets of beat up and near end of service life alpha jets, Nigerians would have something to be happy about?? Your logic is flawed my good friend The science behind F35 isn't magic it is not a supernatural piece of flying tech detecting it is possible, if you are not already dead. |
