No one knows tomorrow. What if your wife delivers a child with down syndrome or dwarfism? Let's always thank God For we never know tomorrow and always bless others.
Take care and God bless you Funny enough even if his wife gives birth to a child with down syndrome , he may not even change. Some human beings are just funny. |

That's what I been saying concerning some Nigerians that feel that u.s should intervene in this Sowore saga. Call your reps and tell them to impeach Buhari. |

Blue3k: It would be considering his ERGP failed. Im still surprised opposition parties didn't campaign simply on this issue. It just tells me their campaign team sucked at their jobs. All they liked doing is organizing rallies and photoshoots. Maybe they didn't campaign on the ergp issue because I think most Nigerians really don't know about the egrp or about what it entails. |

Blue3k: These socialist leaders need to stop. This ridiculously dumb idea because it's too expensive, the unemployment rate is sky high, and it could incentivize not working. If your stipen is more than a janitorial job why go to work for example. The question we should ask is where they are going to get the money from ? |

omohayek: For one thing, the inflation rate determines the appropriate monetary policy, and what might seem appropriate “on average” might be either far too tough for some regions or too loose for others: to illustrate, Eurozone monetary policy is heavily weighted towards Germany, but this has forced countries like Italy, Portugal and Greece to make harsh spending cuts where they could formerly deficit-spend, because allowing them to run huge deficits would require interest rates far above what would suit the German economy.
There is in fact a whole field of study devoted to what are called “Optimal Currency Areas” which are geographical regions for which using a single currency would maximize economic efficiency. According to this theory, there are at least 2 main criteria which all participants must meet, namely
1. Free movement of labor, goods and capital throughout the region. The EU has all of this on paper, but in practice language and credential barriers reduce its practical significance somewhat. Ecowas has never been further from this than ever, seeing as the borders of its largest member have recently been arbitrarily closed under Buhari, with no set date in sight for their reopening.
2. A means of risk-sharing through measures like automatic fiscal transfers between members. In the United States this happens through means like Federal grants, military spending, unemployment assistance, Medicare/Medicaid, etc. The lack of such a mechanism is one of the reasons why the Euro is regarded as suboptimal: Dutch and German taxpayers can't bear the thought of subsidizing "lazy" countries like Spain, Italy and Greece. It's hard to imagine Nigeria being even more open-minded to Togo, Niger, Mali, etc. Thank you very much. |
Politics › Re: West Africa Single Currency - A Journey To Nowhere? by urahara(m): 7:21pm On Dec 10, 2019 |
Blue3k2: France isn't the issue. They've done a great managing the currency compared to the other countries in the region. The francophone nations are already demanding their reserves back from France. France could abandon it the currency without a consequences to their economy. Why do some people say the cfa franc is France way if colonising Francophone countries ? |

grandstar: I always laugh at this suggestion.
How can double digit inflation economies like Nigeria merge with very low inflation CFA economies like Ivory Coast or Benin republuc?
If the Euro caused so much turbulence to EU economies except Germany which was left unscathed by it's adoption. It was probably made to order for the German economy, known for its extremely disciplined monetary policy and even it's fiscal prudence -runs a budget surplus.
If the EU countries had a hard time adapting to the Euro (Poor Italy can not devalue itself out of it's economic malaise), how much more countries like Nigeria and Ghana.
The idea should be poopooed. Why is a similar inflation rate a criteria ? |

Personally I dont think America cares. The only sanction Cameroon received was getting kicked from AGOA. They're still giving them foreign aid. In Nigeria case they're giving foreign aid and selling weapons. Nigerians will talk as if we are under military rule. You would think our leaders were forced on us. |
