OLAADEGBU: I am obsessed with the gospel truth, can you please answer the question? Is the Roman Catholic the only true church? Yes it is! All other churches are bunch of rebellouse self rightous hypocrite who have manage to bring christianity to a level of decay and degradation. That the society and the world at large battles to regulate today. Christianity became a bigger palava when the protestant emerged. All protestants church pastors are thives who feed on tithe and offerings. 419 actually started in the protestant churches, There are more armed robbers and prostitutes in the protestant church than we have in catholic, In fact my rice is burning......will be back I dey vex today |

plaetton: Dyslexia is an ocular disease where images are not perfectly vertical or horizontal, therefore letters usually appear jumbled in no perfect order. But I was merely joking, of course. Uyi, for example is suffering from acute literary Dyslexia . He cobbles and jumbles some words together, and then, viola!, convinces himself that it means something. And I am guessing that he tries to imitate his master, DEEEPsight, a master cobbler , who cobbles fancy and superlative words together to create god, who then creates the universe.
Reading from these guys is like going to an art museum ,and then having to put your head upside down, in a futile attempt to get a visual appreciation of an image.
Kia!! This man self.....banza baki Deepsight is great, actually find him amazing, the guy is just too intelligent |

rationalmind: THE DISCRIMINATION AGAINST ATHEISTS IN NIGERIA IS REAL- A MESSAGE TO ALL ATHEISTS.
I would have opened a separate thread for this but anyone who remotely knows me can easily connect the dots.
Those who follow me will know I'm just fresh out of NYSC, job hunting. I do have a job but all I get is a five figure salary and I'm seriously looking for something better (a six, seven or eight figure salary ).
The search for something better made me apply for the recently advertised Nigerian Navy DSS 23 recruitment. While filling the form, as is usual of jobs of this nature, we were asked to fill in our religion. There were three options. Christianity, Islam, Atheist. I initially wanted to fill in christianity but on second thought, I felt there's really no need to lie about being a christian since I'm not. More so, as at that time of application, I couldn't see any direct consequence of being honest.
I woke up on Tuesday to receive news that applicants who will write the aptitude test have been shortlisted. I rushed to the portal, filled in my S/N and pin and thankfully, I was shortlisted.
The next step was to get my forms signed. One will be signed by the secretary to the local government, another by a Divisional Police Officer from my State of Origin.
Dad claims to know a DPO who can sign for me and helped take it to him while I went to the local government to sign the other one. I never bothered to tell him I claimed to be an atheist in the form since I didn't feel it was necessary and he never bothered to go through the form.
Few hours later, I received his call and he asked me why I filled in Atheist as my "religion". This time around, I couldn't get myself to tell him the truth and had to lie. I told him it was a mistake I made when I was filling the form and he ended the call.
Eventually when he got home at night,he called me to his room to have a discussion. I expected it. What I didn't expect was how angry he was. He told me he has never been embarrassed the way he was today. His DPO friend saw what I filled and asked him his religion. On telling him he's a christian, the next thing he heard was, how can you be a christian and your child is an atheist. He didn't even know what was happening and requested for the form only to see what I filled in. It was then he called me.
Well, to cut the long story short, the DPO told him he's never going to sign for an atheist. He humbly took the form and went to two other police stations and to his surprise, all of them, after going through the form, told him they can't sign for an atheist.
What I don't understand is the fact that, these DPOs weren't asked to stand as my guarantor. All they had to do was to state if I have ever committed a crime or not. I couldn't just see what that has gotten to do with being an Atheist.
To cap it off, I'm in a fix right now. I don't know if to walk into police stations myself and see if I can have the forms signed or just forget about it since I'm pissed off already and I've lost interest.
I hope this will serve as a lesson to other atheists or agnostics as the case may be. For those who are closet atheists, it's better to remain that way. Nigeria obviously hasn't gotten to a stage where one can openly admit to being an atheist.
CC: Plaetton, wiegraf, davidylan, urheme, mikedimeji, thehomer, muskeeto, macof, Chrisbenogor e.t.c Horrible stuff This is discrimination as casual as it may look, it could be worse, They have just infringed on your right bro, sorry!! Nigeria as a country did not legally adopt any religion, you are free to choose but i don't understand why a DPO will behave like that. |

Where did noah keep the termite and the wood peckers in the ark ... I began to wonder that there was a male and female wale likwise an anaconda with its partner. Why did God create something as dangerous as a mosquito A comparism between the christian heaven and the moslem heaven; the comments here where insane........i finally concluded there was no hell or heaven at all, since then, i have problem with religion or any belief system. |

Sir pleatton taught me how unrealistic religion is, Macof and pagan9ja made me know that even the pagans are enlighten and well soffisticated.
The being called rationalmind is a wonderful being, something he or she imbibe in me is to have strong reasons for doing or enguaging in a thing, i will never forget that post.
Olaadegbe don't know if i spelt the name correct, made me believe the Bible is a trick book, this man knows where every word is in the bible, believe me he can make voluminous claims for his faith.
Beneditamus and italo taught me that no matter what i must stand firmly on my ground.

Learned a lot from The monika sonoflucifer, he gave me exposure on religion being a belief system and nothingmore, he choose satan as his god, that really click something in my mind, i no longer see him any different from the christian or other religious adherers Kay17, yes kay17, this being is very intelligent, I hold a lot of respect for her especially when i found out lately that she is a female, she taught me to be mild and neutral, don't be here and don't be there, look critically, and look critically again. She has a sound mind as far as religion is concern, she taught me constructive criticism not flattering |

davidylan: Describing the American christian culture as mercantilism is just wrong... it seems to me that you have no clue what that word even means.
Mercantilism - belief in the benefits of profitable trading; commercialism.
If anything, it is the AFRICAN/NIGERIAN form of christianity that exhibits mercantilism. We are the ones who basically have turned "God" into a tool for making profit. In the US, christianity, especially in the South, is more a culture, and is mostly associated with patriotism and a deep sense of national pride. Most people describe the American christianity as cultural christianity... certainly nothing to do with profit.
On the other hand... religion is indeed on the decline in the US but i'm not sure anyone has figured out exactly why. More often than not this is largely due to the huge influx of communist Europeans after world war II, the feminist/s exual revolution of the 60s and the fact that the US constitution explicitly forbids the adoption of a national religion. One thing is certain - its not because they have someone developed a significantly higher IQ than us... which i think is what people like you try to insinuate... much to your shame really. Christianity a culture in the US I doubt. Talking about the iq of the black man and how inferior they are to the white man, All the good ideas they sold to the black man they use it to destroy and kill them self, Imagine such a thing as christianity, is being used to enslave people, ripping the people off big time, religion has made many black people anti-progress, counter productive and lazy, the black man is being subjected to delusion in the name of miracle and finacial breakthrough, few people are nomal in the nigeria churches today, Imagine when the nigerian black man get his arms on a weapon of mass destruction, we will all die, There is a public out cry to regulate the activities of churches in nigeria, it is breeding conflict and unhealthy competition, We need consolidation and the board of trustees must include a government organs for effective control |

plaetton: As we can all witness, in the civilized world, the very people that sold Christianity to Africa no longer see any use for it. As a social engineering program, Christianity has run it's full course, and there is little utility left in it for the people of Europe, unless and if necessary, to keep puppeteering the primitive animist peoples of Africa.
All over Europe and America, churches are being converted and reused for factories, warehouses, libraries, research centres, community centres, pubs, museums, and even houses and condominiums. It has become a sort of recycling program where a redundant asset is reused for productive purposes for the overall benefit of the society.
Now, other hand , across the oceans and deserts to subsahara Africa, the opposite trend seems to be the norm. It is like two alternate worlds co-existing at the same time.
In Nigerian, for example, Africa's most populous and most influential nation, factories and warehouses, libraries, hotels, homes, etc, once the industrial and economic backbones of this poor nation, have long been , and are still daily being converted and remodelled to churches and places of worship. In Nigeria, churches have nearly taken up all the industrial spaces and warehouses in urban centres. A businessman, a job creator, looking for a factory or warehouse in the city of Lagos will always be humiliated by church organisations who will outbid him by far in any real estate transaction.
What accounts for this gross and obvious dichotomy between the worlds ?
I mean, what have Africans found in churches that the Europeans seem to have missed or are missing ?
What secret divine knowledge or wisdom or riches did we inherit that the avante guarde Europeans are hopelessly oblivious to ? Bravo!!! This will make a good Bill to debate on in the house. Sir pleatton we need you beside Ben Bruce in the house, i think he shares your philosopy. I have an idea..... "A bill for an Act converting all old religious houses to resturant or casinos and to consolidate or erradicate churches or which ever is suitable and all matters incidental thereto" Long title |
