Commendable Empiree, but you didn't meet my demand. You simply listed out the acts that you 've been performing in salat sequentially then attached a hadith to each act. I mean modify your post, eliminate every word leaving behind only the Ahadith. You 'll just have acts in salat, the sequence of performing these acts will be missing and a novice will be left clueless; On how to start, when to conclude, what is even a raka', can he go down for prostration straight from standing before before bowing? The truth is, unless you have prior experience of salat, you can't just gather these scattered narrations on salat acts from several hadith books and hope to connect these act, performing the acts sequencially as muslims do today. Give me an hadith that explain stepwisely how salat can be performed as the Quran 5:6 explain ablution acts in sequence. Then again, there is only one reference to Quran(33:56) in your post, which isn't credible as the interpretation is flawed. Get us an evidence that Muhammad was taught Salat as Abraham was(21:73), afterall if we are to learn salat from him then it is only logical that God had taught him. There is also the problem of contradicting ahadith. In one hadith, it is required to recite atleast few verses in salat after Chapter 1. But i 've seen hadith that reports that reciting only fatiha is acceptable. In the whole of Sahih Bukhari for instance, there is no description of Salat at all. Bukhari rejected every other hadith outside his collection, how then did Bukhari do his salat. |
Hkana: Empiree, thanks for helping out with the hadith requested by usermane. They would have taken me ages to come by.Peace, i believe you or other muslims shouldn't have left it all to Empiree. There are problems with those hadith and his post entirely. I just didn't respond earlier because i 've been kind of busy and feel maybe someone else would come with better answer. You can wait till i address the faults of those Ahadith later tonight. |
Thanks Hkana and Empiree but the basis for discarding hadith goes beyond what i 've covered here. So i 'll pass the invitation. Can you tell us those hadith that taught you how to pray? Please post. Also i need response from others like Rilwayne001 on this. |
Empiree: Here you go. @bold, how do you know this if not through chains of transmission. You just spoke of Hadith @bold. Dont forget there is Hadith Qudsi as well.you need chains of transmission to know that you have to be kind or honest? You need chain of transmission to maintain full trust in God as the Prophet? Look my friend, even Abraham was described as a good example for Muhammad and his followers(60:4-6). I don't think Muhammad needed Abraham 's hadith to emulate him. |
Hkana: Thanks Usermane, I've seen it.By posting only a fraction of the verse, you 've distorted it meaning. Here is the full verse: [QURAN 59:7]The context here is spoils of war, read from the first verse of the chapter. God talks of destruction of dwellings and banishment of the disbelievers who for long have been oppressing believers in their midsts. Then God permitted His messenger to take the left overs of the dwellings of the banished ones. What was left behind includes items and materials to be distributed equitably according to God 's orders. So "take whatever the messenger gives you and refraim from what he prohibits you" mean that whatever item, material of the spoils a believer was given by the messenger(the distributor), he can take it but whatever he isn't giving or has been prohibited for him by the messenger, he must abstain from it. |
Empiree: @userrmane, I am sure you know what you doing. But it makes no sense arguing over this. I am also aware many have talked to you in past. So may I ask you what these verses mean to you?We 've answered these questions in the past. @bold, kindly point where i stated we shouldn't obey the messenger. [QURAN 3:31, 4:80, 5:92] "Obey God and obey the messenger is a common clause in the Qur'an. Man must obey God, but man doesn't directly hear the words of God. There exist a messenger whom God relays His orders to. To obey God, man must obey His orders delivered by the messenger. This is equivalent to obeying the messenger. [QURAN 33:21] Interpreting in its context, one that God recommend the conduct or attitude of his messenger during the war(33:20, 22) as exemplary. A more general interpretation beyond this context is fine. The messenger has been described as one of exalted character(68:4) and coupling that with this verse(33:21), one who hopes for eternal life have in the Prophet a model. The examples muslims ought to emulate in the Messenger include noble traits such as generosity, honesty, politeness, kindness, piety, discipline, diligence, determination, patience and perseverence. Of course, we he is dead but we read his words when we read the Qur'an and we know he kept the words. If we keep to these words too, we are emulating him. |
It is pointless grieving over losses and faliures. These things happen, have been predestined and regardless of condemnation, the show must continue. Everyone has a crucible, depending on how you manage it, it could ruin or make you. On the flipside, boasting over your accomplishments could result in affliction. This is because God dislikes boasters who are always covertous and self centred persons willing to get their hands dirty so as to attain their ends. |
[57:22] Anything that happens on earth, or to you, has already been recorded, even before the creation. This is easy for GOD to do. |
You cannot afford to be preoccupied with this world. Like a sweet dream, you 'll eventually have to wake up to reality. So through all your worldly affairs, keep working on "PROJECT HEREAFTER". Be honest, selfless and moral. Give charity, offer salat, shun idolatry, seek forgiveness and maintain righteousness. Eternal life will then be yours. |
[57:20] Know that this worldly life is no more than play and games, and boasting among you, and hoarding of money and children. It is like abundant rain that produces plants and pleases the disbelievers. But then the plants turn into useless hay, and are blown away by the wind. In the Hereafter there is either severe retribution, or forgiveness from GOD and approval. This worldly life is no more than a temporary illusion. |
[57:19] Those who believed in GOD and His messengers are the saints and martyrs. Reserved for them at their Lord are their rewards and their light. As for those who disbelieved and rejected our revelations, they have incurred Hell.Belief in God and His messenger can't be undermined. As simple as this command sounds, it is no piece of cake. Because there is so much falsehood coated with truth, to believe in God and His messenger is an arduous task that require a lengthy and back breaking quest for what is truely God 's and His messengers'. This is the first step towards believing in God and His messengers. Even within God 's system, God have the devil interfere or introduce. It takes blessed knowledge to recognise the truth from falsehood and believe in the truth. In absence of this knowledge one might be rejecting God 's true revealations while accepting fabrications unknowingly. This is disbelief and it wage is Hell. |
[57:18] Surely, the charitable men and women have loaned GOD a loan of goodness. They will receive their reward multiplied manifold; they have deserved a generous recompense. We return to charity and its immeasurable recompense. It is likened to a loan, the return of which is multiplied manifold by God. Its speciality is that unlike other rites, another person directly benefits from it. Aside the giver, the receiver also benefits from Charity. Charity is the only rite that can be performed at any time or place. This is unlike salat, fasting or hajj. Charity can even take the form of comforting the downtrodden, donating a kidney, peacekeeping or guiding and counselling. Aside the spiritual benefits, charity has numerous benefits beyond the scope of this topic. |
Empiree: Stoning adulterer toNo, i should be ashamed that muslims prefer the law of tampered scriptures of those whom they have been warned about to their own scripture.[3:100, ] Six times, stoning was mentioned in the Qur'an, in all cases, it is disbelievers that punish with stoning[11:91, 18:20, 19:46, 26:116, 36:18, 44:20]. This is exactly whatWho told you Muhammad who was ordered to rule with the Qur'an and always wait for God 's judgement picked up a law from an adulterated scripture without God 's order?[6:51] @underlined, did you recall where the Jews tried to stone an adulterer but were stopped by Jesus in the New Testament? They were stunnedHmm... Stoning had been a pagan practice long before the Torah. The Jews stoned adulterers. The Church stoned adulterers till the renaissance. And you want to tell us that enforcing stoning of adulterers showed the Jews that he was a Prophet? |
TheBigUrban2: I studied islam. You know, i really need to get up close and personal with you. I appreciate your posts most times. Aside the fact that our beliefs may be different, i find you more inclined to God than a lot who proclaim faith in God. You have a commendable understanding of Islam and the affairs of the middle east than many i 've met here. |
SALAT 1. Salat was prescribed for Abraham who passed it down to his descendants and this was continously passed to later generations. Muhammad already familiar with salat before Prophethood was simply ordered to perform it.[21:73, 73:20] 2. Salat is performed daily at specific times. So contrary to the mainstream, it cannot be delayed or performed earlier. It is a compulsory rite in the sense that God punishes defaulters but non can be forced or penalise for not doing it. The best a man can do for defaulters is to exhort them them[Quran 20:132] 3. Salat is performed to commemorate God alone. Uttering other names as Muhammad or Ali in salat, is wrong and idolatry[Quran 29:45, 20:14, 72:18]. 4. States of impurities like urine, faeces, sex, orgasm or intoxication render one impure for salat untill he is purified. Note that God clearly listed out what impurities are in context of salat. Physical impurities differ from spiritual impurities. Many are ignorant of this.[4:43, 5:6] 5. Salat is proceeded with ablution[Quran 5:6]. It is performed facing the Sacred Mosque[2:142-150]. It involves acts like standing, bowing and prostrating. The scripture is recited, God is praised and glorified during it. Recitation is aloud.[Quran 17:110] Personally, i perform mine as the mainstream do with variations though but i don't agree that other than that, any other interpretation of salat is wrong. Therefore, i believe that 1. There are no fixed numbers of rakas. 2. Recitation language doesn't matter. 3. There is no extra reward in performing it singly or in multiples. 4. Modest dress should be worn(Quran 7:31) |
@Empiree, if you conclude that i rejected hadith based on the number of hate, violent or shameful reports i find therein, then you 've jumped off the gun. There are too many unresolved issues with hadith that i can't begin to mention here. Then, return to the mainstream? I guess you are trying to say "unite". My friend, there is no realism in that. If i decide to adopt your stance today, i 'll endanger myself. People like you have no say in the mainstream, you are considered weak. The extremists decide everything in orthodox Islam. There are stories of muslims like you. They all thought it was possible to reject one or two things while remaining "mainstream", what were their end? You can google Salman Taseer. Hkana, i 'll be back. |
Why cherry picking hadiths, Empiree? I tried that originally but i found it too dishonest to adopt, so i ended up rejecting everything. According to sunni theologians, hadith can even abrogate verses of the Qur'an. According to them, all the hadith in the six main sunni hadith literature are authentic and must not be denied by anyone who claim to believe in "QURAN AND SUNNAH". Saudi Muftis, Zakir Naik et historic sunni scholars like Ibn Kathir, Ibn Tamiyyah, Imam Shaafi all have the consensus that apostates must be killed, adulterers must be stoned, sharia states like Saudi should invade "infidel" states like US to install sharia. Those are your clergies, the ones whose interpretation of Islam must remain unchallenged as far as sunnism is concerned. Ask tbaba1234 if you disagree. If you tell me you don't take an hadith because it contradict the Quran, then what of those that do no contradict Qur'an but prescribe or prohibit what the Qur'an does not? How do you decide their authenticity? Oh, and i read olabowale 's post. But i judge orthodox muslims by their religious texts. Your friend was only being an apologist there, it is only unfortunate that educated persons like you is satisfied with his explanation. Lastly, let nairaland be nairaland. Stop bringing free-minds' talks here. If you have any question or doubt, sign up and table it there instead of coming here to judge them. They 'll be happy to attend to you. The mods there are way diplomatic than those here. |
See Empiree, i gave up on you yesterday because you don't seem to read between lines. I never said salat isn't obligatory, i said no man can compel another man to perform it or punish him for not performing it. Salat is obligatory in the sense that God punishes defaulters, no more or less. Then as per the issue of not calling myself muslim, go read my last post in my thread ; Ten Misconceptions Among Muslims. Am tired of repeating myself. Lastly, if you for a second think that people like you who advocate death for apostacy, stoning of adulterers, or offensive Jihad against "kafir" nations to install sharia; should be the ones to silence us, then fare well. |
This is the fourth time tbaba makes random ill-remarks about me. This time, am stepping up. tbaba1234: Usermane is a 'quranist'... He does not even call himself muslim..You have this obscession with tags; "A is a shiite, B is a quranist, X is an ahmadi". It is your smart means of dissuading the naive from ever hearing the other side of the story. If i ever stated that i wasn't a muslim, it was simply a move to dissociate myself from "muslims" like you who teach that the Prophet slept with a kid, had a female poet assasinated for condemning him, ordered a woman to breastfeed an unrelated man in other to legalise private meetings and other shameful beliefs which you hold more noble than a menstrating woman performing salat. tbaba1234: Wrong place to get any information.Irrelevant, just to prove your word, why haven't you sunnis invited us "quranists" to live debates as you do with the Christians notably in the days of Ahmed Deedat? We 've challenged you on occasions but you 've always backed down. Instead you 've labelled us apostates to be killed, banned our books, articles, video channels, websites and persecuted us. Be careful whom you write off, dude. You are clearly losing your touch. |
^^^^ So long, Empiree. So long. |
Adultery, theft and murder are acts that directly hurt another party and for the sake of Justice, the Qur'an explicitly stated their penalties thereby giving the state the role of punishing offenders. That goes for other acts like bribery, assault, rape. But with or without the Islamic states, these crimes don't go unpunished in any society, including the secular states which you claim do not recognise the sovereignty of God. With this, why the emphasis on "Islamic" state? Sharia advocate groups like Boko haram, IS, Muslim Brotherhood etc don't want an Islamic state because they want to punish thieves, adulterers or murderers, comm' on even under the status quo these criminals aren entertained. They want it because they want to kill muslims who do not pray or give zakat, kill ex-muslims for apostacy, kill persons for condemning Quran or Muhammad, severely penalise gamblers, drinkers, usury bankers etc in the name of Islam. These may be evil acts as far as the Qur'an is concerned but they do not directly harm anyone, there aren't penalties stipulated in the Qur'an for offenders and so under the name of Islam none can compel or punish another concerning these acts. There are certain crimes to be punished by God alone. Finally, it is time i focus soley on the topic. I won't be digress anymore. |
Empiree: You mixing the point my friend. Ruling them and judging them by Quran is different from delivery of message. Ruling over people is a matter of governing people. Accepting God's message delivered by the messanger is completely another and people have option of accepting or rejecting the message. Maida verses 47-49 is clearly talking about ruling/ govt over people NOT message. These verses clearly talking about govt my friendWhoever disputed the difference, at the start of verse 49, the Prophet was ordered to rule, to govern and to instruct the people with the Scripture. At the end of the verse, the Prophet was told that those who turn away from his rule will be punished, by whom? None but God. Note that that this is the same verse that speak of governing. And we find no words in it that empower either the Prophet or state to compel and punish the defaulters who turn away from the Scriptural rules. So, how am i the one missing the point? |
^^^ [5:49] You shall rule among them in accordance with GOD's revelations to you. Do not follow their wishes, and beware lest they divert you from some of GOD's revelations to you. If they turn away, then know that GOD wills to punish them for some of their sins. Indeed, many people are wicked.Yes i have read 5:47-49, read how it concludes in verse 49. The Prophet was ordered to rule according to the Qur'an, not his wishes or anyone else 's. So what happen if the people turn away? On the event of that, God tells the Prophet that He the Almighty will punish them, not the Prophet, not the State. In Qur'an 5:92 God also tell those who turn away that the Prophet 's only role to them is delivery of the message, he has no business with anyone who turn away from the message. Empiree: "O you who believe! Obey Allah and His Messenger and those of you who are in authority. If you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination." [Holy Quran 4:59]If i tell my son to obey his teacher, i haven't said the teacher has the right to penalise him for disobedience. If i tell a patient to obey his doctor, am not saying the doctor can force him to follow instructions or penalise him for not doing so. The Islamic state has it concerns, for which it can compel and punish but talk of Scriptural rules and practices the State like the Prophet can only warn, not compel or punish. Empiree: You also made misguided statement on your website that women are not forbidden from praying during menstruation?. Just tell me you didn't write or believe that?.Quote a single verse where 'women' on menstruation are deem impure and unfit for Salat. Qur'an 2:222 says it is harmful and so unlawful to have sex during menstruation. It didn't state menstruating women are impure. If Salat during menstruation is prohibitted as sex, why isn't salat mentioned in this verse as well? In Qur'an 4:43, intoxication, sex, orgasm, urination and defeacation without washing or bathing were clearly stated as situations under which one shouldn't observe Salat. Why again is 'Menses' not stated as one of these situation? Here is your daily hadith Sahih BukhariQuite alright, menses is normally red but in rare cases, microbial infection in the vagina could result in blood and yellow discharge during menstruation. So, with this, there are chances the Prophet 's wife that prayed here was actually menstruating. Then again, even if that wasn't the case. Blood and yellow discharge from the vagina is just as impure as menses, especial if it is serious enough that the woman has collect the fluid with a dish. So, how come a woman under such an "impure" state is praying here? |
Consequently, their hearts harden towards the word of God and they become transgressors. For instance, question a Christian for eating pork and he 'll respond that what goes into the stomach is not relevant but what the heart is filled with. Remind a Muslim girl of Mid day Salat and she could tell you that because she is on her menstral period, Salat isn't permitted for her. Yet we find verses in the Bible that prohibit eating pork, we find no verse in the Qur'an prohibiting anything for the menstruating woman except sex. But because these people prefer their lust or extra scriptural teaching, they disregard, abrogate, adulterate God 's teaching without concern. |
The Tanakh, Gospel and Qur'an were delivered millineums ago to different communities who either lost these Books or abandoned them. The Jews invented oral traditions(Talmud) centuries after the Tanakh, the Christians too introduced oral traditions after the Gospels and the Muslims followed suit with Hadith & Sunnah about 2 centuries after the Qur'an. Although these traditions were attributed to God and His messengers, they are infant blatant fabrications by enemies of the Prophets(Quran 6:112-113, Mark 7:6-13). And more often than explain the scriptures as we are told, these traditions are smart means of getting them idolise mortals, commit 'holy' atrocities, and luring them away from the scriptures whilst giving them a false sense of righteousness. |
On conviction, you have to reverence the revealation(Quran 18:27, 7:3), living according to it(Quran 4:105). The path of deviation trails from self indulgence or blind compliance with extra-scriptural teachings like oral traditions or words of leaders, scholars and clergies. History reports that humanity has been failing in this regard. |
[57:16] Is it not time for those who believed to open up their hearts for GOD's message, and the truth that is revealed herein? They should not be like the followers of previous scriptures whose hearts became hardened with time and, consequently, many of them turned wicked. |
The believers will be dermacated from the hypocrites on the day of reckoning. The believers' response to the hypocrites' call help us understand the hypocrite better. Of course, the hypocrite might join us in promoting equity, justice, peace and tolerance but in truth these values do not matter to the hypocrite. Rather, the hypocrite is devoted to his illusions, ideology which often contradict the same values he joins us in promoting, thus deviating and distancing him from us. The Qur'an species the heaviest cross will be borne by hypocrites when mankind return back to their Lord. |
He pretends to be democrat, human right activist. Infact, he keep to this in his homeland but on the flip side, he protects and support tyrannic regimes that repress liberals and democrats in another land. Or he join you to protest for fredomn of beliefs, lecturing you over and over on how his religion endorses freedom to believe or disbelieve, yet the same person advocate death for apostacy in line with his religious ideology. |
At least, the unbeliever is honest in expressing his ideology. But the hypocrite is a fraud. Hypocrisy masks the dirty, twisted interior thereby warding off diagnosis and correction. Whenever we find the word "hypocrite" in our Scripture, we assume a man who publicly pretend to pray and worship as we do but does otherwise in privacy. Not wrong, but quite shallow definition of hypocrisy. An hypocrite is a double thinker. |
[57:13] On that day, the hypocrite men and women will say to those who believed, "Please allow us to absorb some of your light." It will be said, "Go back behind you, and seek light." A barrier will be set up between them, whose gate separates mercy on the inner side, from retribution on the outer side. |
Although the righteous face sacrifices, trials and tribulations on earth, in the end they have nothing to lose in both worlds. Thus, those who believe while upholding righteousness should hang on. It only get better. The reward of belief and righteousness can't be imagined by man, thus God uses allegories in his description of Paradise. However, we know that what await the believers and good doers is a beautiful, comforting and fun abode with no drawback, thirst or hardship. |
